Melfort surgeon first winner of national rural surgical excellence award

The Canadian Association of General Surgeons (CAGS) has named Melfort surgeon Dr. Adeyemi Laosebikan the first recipient of The G. William N. Fitzgerald Award for Excellence in Surgery.

“I am delighted and proud of the entire staff of Melfort Hospital and the City of Melfort. We are very fortunate to have passionate and dedicated people working together to ensure and improve access to healthcare. This award is for all of us as we have worked together to achieve this success,” Dr. Yemi said, also acknowledging the support of his colleagues in Prince Albert and Saskatoon.

Dr. Adeyemi Laosebikan, fondly known as Dr. Yemi by patients and staff at Melfort Hospital, is the first recipient of The G. William N. Fitzgerald Award of Excellence in Surgery by the Canadian Association of General Surgeons.

The award, presented at the 2019 Canadian Surgery Forum in Montreal September 6, recognizes rural general surgeons for commitment to the betterment of surgery for rural populations and to the practice of the surgical arts through education, advocacy, and dedication.

Dr. Yemi has provided 24/7 surgical coverage as the sole surgical practitioner serving Melfort since 2004. He is a tireless advocate for maintaining and improving surgical programming in rural Saskatchewan and ensuring patients have access to general surgical services as close to home as possible. His scope of practice is broad and advanced and he is the only surgeon in northern Saskatchewan to provide Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for the diagnosis and treatment of biliary or pancreatic duct issues.

An associate professor with the U of S College of Medicine, Dr. Yemi has been published in several peer review medical journals, and been a guest lecturer at local and international medical conferences. He supports rural student placements through mentoring, tutoring and training, and assesses physicians for the College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also a philanthropist that volunteers countless hours doing mission work overseas, and actively volunteers with many organizations in the Melfort area.

“He is an extremely valued, beloved and respected member of our hospital team,” summarized Melfort Hospital facility administrator Nadine Mevel-Degereness.

salford:

Pros: Easier for PR if you are an international student, diversified economy, decent average wages for professionals (only Alberta is higher), cuisines is oyinbo food, but there are Nigerian food stores scattered across the province, Good number of Nigerian trained doctors and other professionals, less populated, cheap phone plans and car insurance, decent cost of rent or property etc

Cons: Bitterly cold-comparable to Manitoba and Edmonton & up, Mosquitoes in summer, diversity not as much as Ontario or BC, could be boring, no real international airport like the one in Calgary, Vancouver or Toronto, lowest minimum wage in Canada, Infrastructures not as nice as say BC or Ontario.

Moved here from Calgary, Alberta after the world Oil glut seriously affected Alberta's economy. Had a chance to move elsewhere like BC or return to Alberta, but the family loves it here than Alberta, so this is home now. Love Sask - Land of the living skies.

However, you will get you more response and views on the existing Living in Canada thread.

In have now been staying in Sask for over a year and I can tell you it is far better to me and I tend to like the small cities compared to the big ones.

You can leave your door unattended in small cities and nothing will happen
Forget about locking your car in small cities and you are safe
Your children will grow in a sane environment and nothing that they do outside that won't get to you before they even get home
we all know each other
there are Nigerians in every city.
In my city, we have four Nigerian families and other singles
there are other Africans here too
NEVER been in traffic within my city and its environs
It can get cold (Very cold) just dress for the weather and you are good.
Not many opportunities for huslers that like doing like twenty jobs but if you are a professional or you can do two jobs, you are OK.
You will be surprised that most doctors are Nigerians + Indians and the best in the field (A Nigerian won an award of being the best surgeon in national rural surgical excellence and he is in one of Saskatchewan small cities... Our own Dr Yemi Laosebikan (great and funny man to the core)- https://www.saskhealthauthority.ca/news/stories/Pages/2019/October/Melfort-surgeon-first-winner-of-national-rural-surgical-excellence-award-.aspx)
There is dignity in every job... .even if it is a cleaner, there is pride in it and people respect you. They dont respect you only if you are into drugs.

Someone must have started but if only the reactors knew their reaction would only ensure the Google search result stays consistent. They keep using her name and the expression "ugliest miss world" together. Even the bloggers and news channels that try to milk the situation dry keep fueling it with their headlines. Now when you Google that question, you get something like "Nigerians react as Google search shows Agbani Darego as ....". OP, even your thread is a factor here.

This is why Chinese bots are 'busy' feeding the internet with their cooked up version of the covid-19 story (second pic).

Good morning to you. I don’t know if I am over reacting but I proposed to my girl a week ago and she was so excited about it and it was so romantic but I just noticed to my greatest chagrin that she doesn’t wear her engagement ring to work.

So I complained and she said she’s facing some spiritual challenges. We don’t live together as she claims her faith is against it. We work in the same organization and her position is a little higher than mine but I take care of bills concerning her but it seems I am getting tired with much terms and conditions. It’s draining my energy.

Please, I need u to talk to me because I am about to “collect list” from her kinsmen.

ninety5:
Hi everyone, hope y'all safe. I am going to hit the road straight up.

My wife's sister, 24, visited us two days before the lockdown in Lagos and was hoping to travel in the next three days. Unfortunately for her, the lock down thwarted her plan.

Now, my wife, together with our 3 year old boy, always leaves the house during the day to go gossip with her friends, living only her sister and me at home.

The problem is, my wife's sister has been looking at me somehow, like she wants me to have sex with her. The other day she saw me and was smiling like I gifted her some money, like a fish. Yesterday, she wore a blouse that left her n.pples dangling back and forth as she walked around the house.

Guys please, I am in a dilemma. And, good god, the girl is finer and hotter than her sister, the gossip.

What do you want me to do?

No insult please.

So far she is not coming to you naked, Ignore her... Or go and sit outside... invite friends over... send her with her sister... Dont stay around with her... Guy use your sense... If anything comes up, she can and will deny it. Did she rape you? are you not the man?

Bro.. That stuff might be automated, but that idiot called Benjamin Okoroafor said he will remove our names from his data blah blah blah so that we won't enjoy PipulTV with the rest. It's ok for my details to be yanked off, shey na him get the stuff. Buh why haven't I been yanked off, why do I keep receiving useless messages from PipulTV.
.
I don't hate PipulTV (Point of correction), I hate Benjamin Okoroafor with a passion and as long as this useless box still remains inside my drawer, I will continue this online fight till I get a buyer for the box.
.
Again, I do not hate PipulTV, I detest Benjamin with a passion

Anybody can be using PipulTV in outta space, I am less concerned about that.. I use IPTV at home too and am enjoying myself... Buh Benjamin, Oloriburuku omo jati jati.. He deceived me till I parted with my hard earned 25K.. Till I get buyer for that box, na curse be him name

You don't have to hate him. You bought the box because you believed and later lost hope, which is common in human nature. If you want to pick up the love, all it takes is just to connect it to the TV bro

Cos all the supposed positive comments are from Benjamin's tutored/paid cronies. So that won't paint a true picture of the way things are.. Why i hate Benjamin so much is cos his unending lies..

Guy,
please be serious... I respect you more than all these... you should know that that message is automated... i believe they just collected emails of those not active and sent them reminders to upgrade. I know of at least two guys in USA using this TV and in Canada, this is what I use...

Take it easy man... dont let your hatred for PiplTV blind you from reality here...
