Politics / Re: 80 Yr Old British Historian Explains Differences Between Yorubas & Ibos by NairalandForumo: 5:59pm On Feb 18
You see how it hurts when you single out a tribe to castigate based on a foreigner's observation, but the same Yoruba's on nairaland who posted a video of an Asian police officer interrogating an Igbo boy caught for trafficking and talking about Igbos in the video where busy insulting Igbos.

Some were even praising the police officer for doing it, and a most likely tribalistic mod took the video to front page, now the table has turned and they are insulting the foreigner saying this....

The truth is every tribe has good and bad people.....

Not again!

Our security agencies are seriously overwhelmed by the level of insecurity in Nigeria.

After state police, if condition persists, we may start asking for gun licenses.

This madness must be met by an equal measure of madness for it to stop.

Nobody is endowed with the monopoly of violence.

Oga, they are not overwhelmed, the government is not just serious about ending it...

Ignorance is not an excuse, you people passed a law, then you turned around to blame President Tinubu?

Law way una pass yourselves to remove subsidy after 20 months of it coming into effect virtue of the Petroleum Industry Act?

Ignorance no be excuse vinnie2000:

In accordance with Section 205 of the PIA , the pricing of petroleum products must operate under unrestricted free market conditions; hence the Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) and the subsidy system have been abolished.

For your ignorance, PEF was the government body in charge of maintaining uniformity in petroleum product pricing.

And Tinubu is currently breaking the law by paying subsidy....

Politics / Re: Okonjo Iweala Should Be Invited To Help Nigeria by NairalandForumo: 8:15am On Feb 17
DeLaRue:
Few months before the end of Mr Jonathan's era, the federal government in which she was coordinating minister for the economy started borrowing to pay salaries despite the government having consistently received the largest crude oil revenues in the history of Nigeria.

Under her watch the money was all squandered or stolen by the likes of Deziani and other GEJ/PDP larkies.

Her excuse was that she advised the government to save but that it didn't. Absolute tosh. Why didn't she resign? People should stop trying to re-write history.

Also, she never faced an economic situation as tough and complex as we have today so we simply don't know if she would have been any better than those performing similar role now.

It's easy to be a finance minister when the government is making record revenues from oil revenues and bandits are not disrupting farming on such scale as we have presently.

The truth is, she was never really tested in the sort of economic conditions and circumstances as we have now. Any suggestion that she would have handled the current situation better is pure speculation. We simply don't know.

Oga, you people just come out and be talking anyhow, you obviously forgot or just skipped that Okonjo under OBJ's government cleared all Nigeria's foreign debts in tune of billions of dollars, saved for Nigeria over 50 billion dollars from the sales of crude, stabilized the economy from how the military government had damaged it.

Mind you the economy when OBJ entered was quite shaky, crude was selling around 30 dollars per barrel, had so many foreign debts, had so many sanctions because the of the past military governments, and they were able to achieve all these, so if she told you she advised GEJ's government and they did not listen to her, isn't it looking obvious?

I wouldn't really even advice her to come because of people like you who will still blame her for trying to help....

Business / Re: Suggest Policy Measures That Can Stabilize The Naira And Raise The Value by NairalandForumo: 7:49am On Feb 17
Celestialsword:
It seems the government has ran out of ideas to stabilize the naira from having a free fall against the dollar.

In saner climes, the government would have brought together renowned economist to form an economic team to find a lasting solution to this economic embarrassment

It can also be thrown into the public space to buy sound economic ideas to help her

Please drop any solution you know that can help the government out of the woods

It seems like some of you don't still know what is going on...

The cause of what is happening are the current people in power, any policy they bring out that the politicians do not oppose just know they are Happy about it.

Let me just tell you something I have noticed about Nigeria, the more corrupt a government is the more the dollar falls and inflation goes up, you can do the ranking and see for yourself. I will go by the least corrupt.

1. Yaradua
2. OBJ
3. GEJ
4. Buhari
5. Tinubu

Go and check the stats and see the economic performance and match them with the ranking I put up there, this was part of the reason why some of us never wanted Tinubu there, Nigeria as at when Buhari was leaving needed a very prudent president, someone who can gather for the people and block leakages, cut cost of governance and so on.

We needed someone who will start placing Nigeria on the right path, it wasn't about the person turning Nigeria to Canada overnight, but someone who will put the country on the path of progress....

Tinubu was clearly not that person, you think some of them including Tinubu might not know what to do? That is like telling a rich thief to stop stealing and return his stolen riches to help others, the question is are they ready to sacrifice that kind of life for Nigerians?

Gerrout you lazy Thing, you think this your hypocrisy will bring down the government, have you & your Hypocrite so called Labor union opposition brothers professed any solution.

You miss days of work because of one nonsense so called protest, after they will resume work days after, what would have changed in Nigeria? Other than your suffering would have increased.

Of course Nigeria is not one, it is a federation of different people, who are you protesting against? Your state Governors or who, or you want to protest on behalf of the Almijiris In Kebbi & Zamfara state against who?

Incoherent hypocrites https://www.channelstv.com/2022/09/12/2023-nlc-vows-to-mobilise-support-for-obi-nationwide/

For your information I might be the last person who will protest against Tinubu's government, I am not really interested in removing him because I feel the bigger problem is sharing country with people like you, so even if he is out does it change the kind of mentality you have? Tinubu is already there, the best time to have removed him was during the election, but like I said earlier Tinubu to me is a lesser problem.

The bigger problem is people like you, my major concern about Nigeria now is how not to share citizenship with people like you, A lot of Igbos won't come out for any protest and some of us have agreed that if we see any Igbo man join any protest against Tinubu, we might chase that Igbo man out of the protest or scatter the protest if they(Igbos) are many.....

We never supported Tinubu and so shouldn't take any blame for trying to help those who brought him in because people like you will still blame Igbos for trying to help like you are doing already....

Depression as a result of hopelessness condition of the country is setting in. The government led by President Bola Tinubu should address the horrible situation very fast to avoid full blown revolution

I don't think there can be a full blown revolution, the country is presently too divided for that, personally I will not join because of the kind of people I might be doing the revolution with...

The only protest I can come out for now is if all region come out for the division of Nigeria.....

Politics / Re: What Is The Reason For The Current Increment In Price Of Goods? by NairalandForumo: 6:19pm On Feb 16
jumper524:
Since 2021 we've been experiencing monthly inflation but 2021 seems to be a joke where 2024 starts from, the rate is already unbearable.
How price of cement moved from 5000 in January to 12000 in February is beyond mystery, please what changed, it's not as if our debt rate is reducing.
Again I still don't understand why our Naira faces rapid decline the moment we attempt to remove subsidy.
Buhari removed subsidy way back in 2015 same thing happened with tinunu in 2023.
In the end the subsidy regime is brought back.
Before tinubu introduction, the dollar stabled for a while but today despite several actions being taken, things just seems to get worse.
Economist watin dey happen..

Damnnn niggar

Please we should leave politicians alone

And beam our search light on the common masses on the street and you will realise how devilish and corrupt the masses on the street are

This are same people criticising politicians

I wast booked on Friday by federal road safety

Now I went to their office that same day to generate code and pay at the bank

Guess what the road safety officer at the office told me she said there was no network. I waited for two hours still no network
Then I went there yesterday again
Only for them to also tell me again there is no network

I decided to wait again if possible for 4 hours

While waiting one officer from no where approached me and was telling me "guy you know what to do na
Nor dey act like baby"

Give them the money let them give you your seized drivers licence sharply.. guess what I did because I was already exhausted. Knowing fully well that this people are gonna frustrate me. I gave them the money
Then boom the idiot brought out my drivers licence
Which means their intention was to lie that there is no network so that a code for bank payment can't be generated
With that I will give them the money in cash and they will share it
Which means the money will not go into government account

That's why I laugh when they say Tunji Ojo is working, all those things they are saying he is doing to me is just chasing clout, if you want the system to work, there must be accountability by the people operating the system..

They claim he is working and nobody is getting arrested, queried, fired and so on in the same system they have fleecing Nigerians and all workers fleecing Nigerians are comfortable with the new implementations....
