Islam for Muslims / Re: The "Strong" Muslim Lady? by Nairatalks: 6:24am On Sep 07, 2013
What a great piece!

The op highlights the problem some women face in the society. Women are sometimes groomed for marriage. Their educations and careers do not matter if they are not married in the mid twenties.

I congratulate her for having goals and getting education. I hope she finds Mr. Right

Like Maclatunnji said, we all face difficult decisions

Everything, given the proclivity of the OP. Tell the truth; call the sickness by its name - fa.,otry, homosickness and sodomy. Or do you really imagine there is any space for those malformed organisms in Islam?
As for atheism, has Logicboy seen the light now and want to take Shahada?

Yes, by the standards of atheists. Eg by suggesting that fa.,ots should go hang and stop desecrating our land!

You might pass muster elsewhere. Interesting! Have you made adhan today?

I dont even know whether to laugh or cry at the mixture of rubbish you wrote there.

So go hound seun for making such a statement or do u believe it true that is why it is "disturbing" you? Smh in the same thread so many false allegations were made against muslim yet you simply kept shut, off course a "muslim" who readily swallows insults against muslims and Islam but is quick to criticize the comments of muslims about issues labeling their comments lies and falsehood clearly shows the sort of religion such a muslim practice!

Well, you are too full of misconceptions that discussing with you looks like a wasteful venture. First-off Saudi Arabia does not define Islam. Yes, the country does make a great effort to be Islamic but it is not the classical Islamic state as history of the Prophet and the Caliph show.

I am being frank with you, the United States President and his family have little or no privacy and that includes their bedroom. Pray tell, what are the issues that Michelle champions that Muslim women can't talk about?

Eninn is welcome to post. Her posts are fairly accurate thanks to Google Translate.

I never said that Saudi Arabia defines islam. However, I know that it is your favourite country from the way you praise it. Also, the USA doesn't define the west either.

Tell me, do you know what goes on in the Obamas' bedroom? If not, can you explain how it is not private? Or do you have their s3x tape?

Lastly, all I said was that Michelle Obama is not the things that Enin called western women. I never said that she did things that muslim women can not do.

You are the one that is not being reasonable here. You keep on talking as if I am defending the West. Rather, I trying to get you guys to see that you're focusing your criticism on the wrong aspects of the West.

^She is not an English speaker.

Note that societal pressure does influence a woman's perception of her worth and how she relates with society.

Most women in the West do not have the same opportunities as men, yet they are misled with the charade of "equality".

Islam gives to each their due with equity. Men and women aren't the same. Of a necessity, Islam deals with each with equity.

Who is "she"? I was commenting to you not her in this instance.

You made false claims about Michelle Obama and ridiculous criticism about Hillary Clinton which you have now kept quiet on after my comment. It is of no wonder that you then make a very false claim that most women in the West do not have the same opportunities as men. Some women, yes...most women, no.

Seriously, the Western culture has so many failings that any normal muslim can see. However, it is not fair to lie and add failings that are not there in the West.

Remember that your Saudi Arabia that you hold in high esteem is one of the poorest places for women's progress.

By the way, if the op does not speak English properly, what is she doing posting English essays that she cant even probably defend coherently?
Islam for Muslims / Re: Women's Rights by Nairatalks: 5:57pm On Aug 26, 2013
maclatunji:

Western culture is almost always exploitative of women. For one, Michelle Obama has no privacy even when she never campaigned for or was elected into public office. Let's be honest, she has no powers of the President, yet she is burdened with many parts of his work as President. Even her bedroom is not a sanctuary and is quite accessible to a number of outsiders all in the name of presidential staff and aides.

Or should we look at Hilary Clinton who had to swallow public humiliation when Monica Lewinsky saga came-up. She had to publicly come out to support a lying and cheating husband even when she probably would have preferred a divorce or at the very least some privacy.

What do you mean by Michelle Obama’s bedroom not being sanctuary? People have maids that clean up their master bedroom too in Saudi Arabia.A first lady has some few responsibilities. I do not see how she is burdened by presidential work. Maybe you are confusing her with Patience GEJ.

Hillary Clinton standing by her husband is a political move and not an indictment of western culture. Surely, as muslims have we asked if Yerimas wife has divorced him over his ‘young’ actions?

Allah forbid that I am defending Western values but we should know what we are criticising. My point is that in claiming freedom, some western women have become s.exualized things but still we shouldnt be calling all of them concubines and mistresses like the op did
Islam for Muslims / Re: Women's Rights by Nairatalks: 4:42pm On Aug 26, 2013
eninn: This is not true

Thing in excess of the limit
Always comes counterproductive

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

Explain how Michelle Obama is a concubine, mistress or society butterfly. We know Western values sometimes exploit women as se.x symbols but we shouldnt exxagerate their failures

You are mentally creating your own enemies and giving reasons for it. Could it be that this isn't about deols but about your utterances and belief?

To escape from seeing your fault, you are trying to pass it off to other people.

Think or try harder, 'is the way I think how muslim does it?' Then, become a better Muslim or actress.

This is even getting funnier.

Muslims shouldnt lie. Anyone could see that you told a lie about feminists. Yet, you are somehow insinuating that I should rethink my faith.

How can one be recruited to be a feminist? It would be like saying one was recruited to be a conservative. Like I said, it is possible that you dont know what a feminist is

I have seen this before. There are "top dogs" on this section who can make false claims and then when another muslim challenges the false claim, the followers gang up against the muslim who simply challenges the false claim.

Betathings, keep lending your support to falsehoods.

But I was obviously talking of Africa. Nigeria, precisely.

Of course you know that there cannot be a data to back my claim up. Do we even have a cancer registry or a correct statistics on domestic violence? It took an aljazera for us to realise what percentage of bleachers are in Nigeria.

But I have attended programs on Gender issues. I have been to conferences on the female child blah blah blahs I have known the participants before and after. So I know very well that not all are in it for the general good.

Now about the subject matter, which is about Nigerian activists being silent on the affairs of Muslims. How many of them did you hear of when that Muslim girl was beat by her school principal?

And how many of them sprang up against Yerima?

Isnt it already clear that they only took advantage of an explosive situation?

Now after all the cries over the internet, how many of the activists have come up with a solution to the issue of child marriage. How many of them have simply gone back to their 'e no concern me' typical state?.

First of all, accusing feminists of generally maltreating their maids and criticising child bride activists are two different things.

Not all women activists are feminists.

Be mature and admit that you told a lie about feminists.

When you admit the lie, then we can discuss the issue about Yerima and the hijab issue

http://www.forbes.com/sites/susanadams/2013/08/14/aols-chief-demonstrates-the-worst-way-to-fire-someone/

In Africa men hardly molest their maids as much as the women do. They burn them, disfigure them (look around NL for examples)
I know somebody running an NGO for women in Nigeria.
Her attitude towards her staff is so crude I wonder how the compassion required for the oppressed (her NGO) can co-exist with so much bile

Are the people you listed feminists?

Not interesting. It is False. Deols should explain where she found numerous feminists treating maids in the worst manner. Maybe she thinks that many people in the west even have maids like we do in Africa.

This is how falsehoods spread.
