nwoke37:I didn't say Jo'burg is the New York of the world, I said it is the New York of Africa. What New York is to America is what Joburg is to Africa. Get your facts right. And no. Jo'burg can never be the New York of Africa - perhaps the Mumbai of Africa. Lagos is big but its economic impact isn't so outstanding and infrastructurewise it still lags behind. |
MPSA:These guys are obsessed with colour, lol. If you're dark skinned, they insult you. If you're ahead of them, they claim the white man did it for you. They subconsciously hate the black race. ![]() |
MPSA:Everyone in Nigeria is trying to run away from Nigeria. ![]() |
theenchanter:So based on my post below and what you've just posted, where is the contradiction and what is false about my post? It is not S. Africans comparing themselves to you, it is you comparing yourselves to them and trying to belittle their progress so who is childish now? |

Nowenuse:Well let's see, Nairobi's population (City, not Metro) - 4M people = 9% of Kenya's population Lagos' population = 21M = 12% of Nigeria's population. Indeed many middle class Nigerians don't love living in Lagos. Anyway, Cities and towns outside Nairobi in Kenya are far better than cities and towns outside Lagos in Nigeria. Anyone would choose to live in Nakuru below rather than Onitsha below anytime. Onitsha https://247ureports.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/osha-town.jpg https://allafrica.com/download/pic/main/main/csiid/00331158:5df6663f8180c3de2785b3cc181e23af:arc614x376:w1200.png Nakuru https://i0.wp.com/jammytravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/DSC_0025.jpg

Nowenuse:That is not Langata dude, that is Umoja, lol. Langata is better than all estates in Lagos. Anyway since you're obsessed with shady online ads, let me give you one and see what your excuse will be this time. Show me a house like this in Lagos that costs an equivalent of KES 5,500.
|
Nowenuse:So these houses look like concentration camps https://farm6.static.flickr.com/5064/5655137482_2fb5d30750_b.jpg and these ones look like decent housing? https://thepress.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/images-36-1.jpeg Something is wrong with your head - you need it checked I already gave you a source that Lagos offers too little for too much in terms of housing. https://qz.com/1017476/rent-is-cheap-in-johannesburg-but-expensive-in-lagos-according-to-new-study/ A good comparison of Lagos v Nairobi is shown below and contrary to what you guys have been yapping over, Nairobi's GDP is actually higher than Lagos. https://versus.com/en/lagos-vs-nairobi |
Daejoyoung:For some weird reason, you think writing literature books is better than fighting for black people and demanding equality and justice. |
Daejoyoung:You guys love excuses. Now you're crediting SA's development to white people and gold. Meanwhile you have oil which Kenya doesn't - why are you not ahead of Kenya? Johannesburg is still an important city to the world and still the richest city in Africa with by far the busiest Airport, best infrastructure, most skyscrapers, largest stocks exchange busiest roads etc. To make it simpler, Jo'burg is the New York of Africa. |
Nowenuse:How can people live in concentration camps? Are you just dumb or you're trolling? The reason we say you've never been to Lagos is because what you say about Lagos and the real picture on ground are two very different things as a real Nigerian who lives in Lagos said. |
Nowenuse:Lagos itself is one huge slum. Slums constitute onlt 5% of Nairobi - unless you're trying to saying a majority of Nairobians can fit in 5% of it's area which is just 34 sq. km while the few rich ones live in 662 sq. km |
Nowenuse:Please, send me a current photo to ascertain this place has been demolished. |
jaycent:I also ask this question, 'have you been to Nairobi?' because Nairobi is only 5% slum and 70% of Lagos is slummish and you are telling me Lagos beats Nairobi. Umepagawa? |
Nowenuse:They're called flats. They are good because they enable high density housing without turning the whole place into slums like these in Lagos CBD. https://i.imgur.com/TBHLyer.jpg |
TayserMahiri:No-ones-anus is a villager from Jos. He said that himself. |
jaycent:Nairobi practically beats Lagos in everything good except population. |
jaycent:In times of size, you're right. But other things, you're wrong. |
Ibukunmer:I like you. You're true. You're real. |
TayserMahiri:Hahaha..............dude has never been out of his village yet he wants to argue over everything. That's why I asked him to focus on women's dresses and make-up. That's his specialty. ![]() |
I can see Obaboon is back with blog articles again. SMH. I can find a million blogs and articles online giving a deplorable picture of Lagos' housing. For example this article here says rent in Lagos is more expensive than Johannesburg which is very sad since Johannesburg is a much richer city with much higher average earnings. Lagosians spend 57% of their salary on housing according to this article which is very sad considering the kind of housing we are talking about is of very poorly. I wouldn't mind paying such an amount and living in cities like Ifrane in Morocco, Port Louis in Mauritius or Windhoek in Namibia but living in that kind of crap and still spending 57% of your earnings on rent? Lagos is a sad case. https://qz.com/1017476/rent-is-cheap-in-johannesburg-but-expensive-in-lagos-according-to-new-study/ |
theenchanter:Thank you. At least a real Lagosian has spoken. Nowenuse listen. I always knew you were a liar. ![]() |
Jay254:Not just a person in Garissa but a person who has never left Garissa. ![]() |
Jay254: ![]() No wonder he's so delusional. Dude has even never been to Lagos. No wonder he doesn't understand the city well. Please bring me a resident of Lagos. ![]() |
Nowenuse:Dude, showing tiny photos of house interiors don't prove shit especially in Nigeria - home to yahoo boys. People will advertise a shitty building and put wrong pictures online only for somebody to end up in a hellhole like this one in Surulere. A house like this going for 300k Naira per year is a rip off. In Kenya houses that look like this are mostly old government houses that go almost for free. https://d2s7s7gc7vwpa.cloudfront.net/large/bungalow-house-IlGQS-80607.jpg |
Nowenuse:The Umoja houses you quote above for instance are no where close to 15K. They're all less than 7k per month. Lagos is 4 times, not 6 times larger than Nairobi. Size is basically a function of population and if Kenya had the population of Nigeria definitely Nairobi would be of similar size to Lagos. Anyway, size doesn't matter. Quality matters. You keep talking of population, please bring the neighborhoods and lets compare the quality. There is nothing to be proud of with a city of millions looking like this. https://i1.wp.com/icirnigeria.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Ibadan-2-2.jpg?resize=640%2C360&ssl=1 |
Nowenuse:Not all houses in Umoja go for 15K. The majority that you quote go for less than 7k per month and are mostly 1 bedroom and bedsitters. The inside is okay though...........the particular street you quoted just seems to be in a bad shape. Probably a crook contractor didn't complete his job. All in all, they're still way better than those Surulere slums you pay 15k for. BTW, how come we Kenyans have talked about low class estates like Umoja, Zimmerman, Jericho, Roysambu, lower middle class like Donholm, Buruburu, Nairobi West, Mid Middle Class like Lang'ata and Madaraka yet you just stuck on Surulere? Are there no more neighborhoods in Lagos? |
Nowenuse:Same way I wonder why Nigeria - A country that produces more oil than most oil rich gulf countries, is still competing with Kenya. |
Nowenuse:An online advert won't fool us dude. People post online different goods from what they're actually selling. Again the photo in your advert is not enough to fool even the most stupid person that the house is actually decent. These are the actual houses that are going for that kind of money. https://reic-ng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/slum.jpg In Nairobi, these kind of old and badly maintained houses go almost for free like these ones in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi. They go for less than KES 2000 monthly. https://www.nation.co.ke/image/view/-/1152824/highRes/129438/-/maxw/600/-/83otx6z/-/PIX.jpg https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3066/2725010694_214665b7de.jpg https://img.webme.com/pic/z/ziwani/DSC07466.JPG |
Jay254:Compare it with these houses in Jericho that go for KES 500. ![]() https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/31/Jericho_nairobi_street1.JPG/1200px-Jericho_nairobi_street1.JPG |
Jay254:You can only say it's cheap until you see the actual house. To me these houses shouldn't even cost 15k. These houses resemble those Swahili houses in Majengo Slums that cost less than 1k per month. Surely who'll pay 15k for this crap in Nairobi? https://images.nigeriapropertycentre.com/properties/images/132072/585103_132072-old-block-of-4-nos-of-3-bedroom-flats--block-of-flats-for-sale-masha-surulere-lagos-.jpg Btw these government houses in Jericho Nairobi cost KES 500 per month. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/31/Jericho_nairobi_street1.JPG/1200px-Jericho_nairobi_street1.JPG

Nowenuse:Why are you still lying on this? When I search rent in Sulurele, the cheapest I get for 2 bedrooms is 600k Naira per year. That translates to 14K Kenya shillings per month and considering you guys pay annual rent, that even makes it hard for many people to afford. In Kenya rent is monthly and where you have the option to pay for the whole year, you're given a massive discount. https://www.nigeriapropertycentre.com/for-rent/flats-apartments/lagos/surulere/showtype?bedrooms=2 |
