I feel so sad that dust could cover half the road on Bank road leading to Government house and the Governor drives past it daily. Something should be done ASAP.

It's quite unfortunate though Owerri has a porous and sandy soil hence the encroachment of dust and sand on the road. It can be minimised when most of the roads are tarred but for now it should be swept. The sandy road affects the beauty of the city.

MTN set to test 5G technology in 7 Nigerian cities

MTN Nigeria Communications has finally kicked off an open pilot of its highly anticipated 5G technology in seven Nigerian cities.


The company yesterday, revealed it has picked seven cities which include Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Owerri, and Maiduguri, as locations where it intends to test the next-generation network infrastructure.

Why do u guys keep spreading fake news? Waec has debunked that statistics, it never came from waec.

I initially thought it was fake but it's not after I researched. Our performance was affected by insecurity, it was just a fluke and we will bounce back. The poor rating in 2021 doesn't eliminate the fact that we are the most literate state in Nigeria.

Recall that last year Imo state was plagued with insecurity coupled with numerous sit at homes which invariably affected our waec performance in 2021. We will bounce back!!

The stat is fake. Waec has reiterated countless times that they don't rank states.
I also don't usually rate waec results due to the prevalence of examination malpractice.
Jamb results are better yardsticks for ratings and the south east records the best performance.

Uchegbu Obinna John-Paul, an indigene of Ohaji Egbema in Imo state has taking over the social media following his excellent results in WAEC and JAMB examinations,. respectively.

According to Report , Obinna recorded a score of 331 in his JAMB exams and bagged 9 A's in the recently released WAEC results.

The Lad is aspiring to study Medicine and Surgery, and has been working tirelessly towards it.
Recall that last year an Imolite also bagged 9As in Waec.

Shell to Resume Oil Production in Imo state

One of the observations of my administration upon resumption of office, was the fact that Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) had been off-site and suspended operations in Imo State as a result of insecurity, vandalism and illegal oil bunkering within the region.

Having restored peace and tranquility along the coastline, today, I met yet again with the Managing Director and Chairman of the oil giant, Osagie Okunbor and I am elated at his assurance and confirmation of the company's resolve to resume exploration in the State.

This development is expected to create a ripple effect and economic boost for the growth of local contents within the region and the State at large while contributing to more developmental projects from the Government.

On behalf of the Government and good people of Imo State, I express my profound gratitude to the management and staff of SPDC. Rest assured, that the State Government is committed to any partnership that would bring about the development of the State.

Imo Born Amarachi Ezihe Bags First Class, Awards, Emerges Best Graduate Student Of Babcock University

Amarachi Ezihe also bagged six other awards at the Babcock convocation ceremony alongside the first class awards.

The awards include: the Overall Best Graduating Student of the University, Best Graduating Student of the Faculty of Science, Best Graduating Student of the Department of Computer Science among others.

Prior to her university education, she had attended Ideal Preparatory Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Schools, Eket, Akwa Ibom State. She was took the first position at those stages, thus in her final year Secondary School she surpassed the school’s historical record by winning 11 prestigious awards.

Amarachi was born 20 years ago to the family of the Chairman Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Imo chapter, Mr Everest Ezihe and Mrs Ruth Ezihe.

She hails from Umuelekocha in Oboro Umueze Ogwa in Umueze/Abazu Ogwa Autonomous Community in Imo state, presently the father is the President General of the famous autonomous community and was raised in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.


Amidst cheers and celebrations last Sunday, the day convocation of the University was held, Amarachi Ezihe said she is grateful to God for His grace and guidance and to her parents for always being there for her. She dedicated the awards to all less privileged youths in Nigeria, praying for God’s favour upon their lives.


Ezihe expressed gratitude to the University authorities for being meticulous both in academics and character building, lamenting that it’s not easy to be a graduate of Babcock University because they are thorough in all academic ramifications.


According to her”it’s easy to enter BU but extremely difficult to graduate due to their standard, they will drill and task you physically, emotionally and intellectually just to make you the best in every endeavor of human discipline. This is one University in the world that doesn’t tolerate any act of indiscipline and if you are a lazy person, just forget Babcock University” she informed.


The academic icon also informed that she was focused throughout her academic career being conscious of what the parents were passing through just to give her quality education and her vision and prayers was to make them proud.


She said that her vision is to further her studies abroad immediately after her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, while advising Nigerian youths to shun anti social vices and drug abuse, insisting that there’s no short cut to an enduring success.


Adding his voice, her father Rotarian Everest Ezihe (Aka Ekpuchi Onwa) expressed gratitude to God for making the family proud using his first daughter.


Ezihe informed that her daughter right from birth has shown being an exceptional child with high level of intelligence.

He pointed out that Amarachi has always assured him that she will always make the family proud and have demonstrated this by her humility, love of God and humanity, respect and charity.

The proud father recalled that he blessed Amarachi as a child of destiny and convenant right from her mother’s womb and thanked God for answered prayers insisting that she remains a special gift to humanity and her generation as the entire Olumba family is proud of her.

Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC) said it temporarily halted the construction of a multi- billion naira Assa North/ Ohaji South Gas Development Project sited in Imo State, which was started in 2019, due to the growing incidents of insecurity in the area.

The project, when completed, has a potential capacity for 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, one of the largest domestic gas projects in Nigeria.

Sadly, the oil Dutch giant said it has uncovered, at least, 112 illegal refineries in Ikwerre, Rivers State. Shell’s Head, Corporate Relations Nigeria and Director, SPDC, Igo Weli, disclosed this at the weekend during an engagement with some journalists from Imo and Abia states on crude theft awareness , pipeline vandalism and illegal refineries perpetrated by hoodlums in the operational areas of the South South and South East.

Regretting that the project, which was started in 2019 and expected to be completed in 2023, she said it was put on hold, last year, following the killings and attacks by suspected cult members and other hoodlums, lamenting that the action had put on hold the over 980 employment opportunities and 2,612 sub- contracting chances, valued at N1.6 billion.

At the occasion attended by the Imo and Abia chairmen of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chris Akaraonye and Victor Ndukwe, respectively; and other Shell officials, Ivan Okoye, Lead, Remediation; Jack Mpkakabori; Lanre Abiola, Lead Encroachment Management; Dr. Francis, official in the department of Community Health Project and Strategies; Hope Nuka, Manager, Opportunities; Mrs. Judit Okakuru, Shell Relations Officer (Imo and Abia); Michael Adande, Shell Spokesperson, Michael Adande, and an official of the media unit of the oil exploration and production company, Emeka Chinke, Weli decried high criminal activities, which led to loss in revenue accruable to the international firm to the tune of over $1 billion in the last few months.

He regretted that despite the social investment programmes, which the SPDC Joint Venture showered on over 18,000 persons, and 1,833 patients in eye problems, with 678 refractive errors and presbyo pia issues, and other healthcare projects, as well as provision of infrastructure in the more than 12 communities, the hoodlums set up over 150 oil bunkers and illegal refineries, leading to the Abaezi forest explosion, in Ohaji /Egbema Local Council of the state, resulting in over 110 fatalities, 200 injured.

GOV. UZODIMMA INSPECTS ONGOING PROJECTS INCLUDING DESILTING OF WATERWAYS, ROADS, AND BALLOON TECHNOLOGY IN THE STATE

In an ongoing process to eradicate flooding, The Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma visited Rapour Junction and Akwakuma road as the desilting of the waterways commences.

The Governor during the inspection urged residents blocking the waterways and drainages to evacuate the structures to enable the free flow of water during the raining season to avoid flooding.

The Governor satisfied at the quality of job on ground also urged the Contractors to hasten efforts.

It is worthy of note that there are positive testimonies of other balloon technology as Egbu / Dick Tiger residents and commuters shower encomium on Governor Hope Uzodimma for the eradication of flood in the major parts of the State.

In response to our revenue growth plan and economic prosperity agenda, today, I inaugurated board of directors for the Heartland Fiber Optic Company Limited.

This Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Heartland Consortium would complement existing policies on ease of doing business by providing high speed broadband infrastructure under the umbrella of Imo State Unified Fiber Duct Installation Project.

So conference centre is more important than roads. There are alternatives to conference centres unlike roads. Resources are limited,the most important are priorities.

Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation targets 10,000 jobs in Imo State


The Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation (LSEF), a futuristic Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which focuses on promotion of 21st century knowledge through quality education, practical entrepreneurship, healthy living and enhanced lifestyle, is set to flag off a project to create over 10,000 employment opportunities for residents of Imo State, while also equipping entrepreneurs and other beneficiaries with useful knowledge and interest free loans to grow their businesses and improve their global competitiveness.

As part of the initiative, globally renowned tech companies like Microsoft, Meta (FaceBook), among others, are expected to certify the participating graduates who complete the programme.

Tagged the Imo Wealth Project, the humanitarian scheme is open to entrepreneurs, unemployed and underemployed graduates, as well as students in tertiary institutions across Imo State in their final year of studies. The aim of the project is to create quality opportunities for the youths to reduce tension in each geo-political region in Nigeria, starting with Imo State in the South East.

The programme kicks off with a three-day mandatory on-boarding training programme scheduled to run daily from Tuesday, June 28 to Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Imo State University Auditorium, Owerri, Imo State from which successful candidates would be selected. The programme kicks off by 9am each day, while accreditation of attendees holds from 8am.

Chairman, Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh, will personally open the conference each day with a 15 minutes’ inspirational session.

A prospective candidate is only expected to attend one of the daily training sessions for a chance to be selected. Interested candidates are advised to register on www.lsef.org to indicate their interest in participating. Registration and participation is free of charge for intending candidates.

Once successfully registered on the website – www.lsef.org, each candidate would be assigned a specific day on which to attend the training programme.

The training sessions will witness masterclasses from a carefully selected faculty of world class resource persons. Among other things, participants would be exposed to mentorship sessions, a finishing school class, knowledge empowerment and business success sessions. Outstanding entrepreneurs who make the final cut stand a chance to gain access to interest-free loans to grow their business, while others will be exposed to employment opportunities in their areas of competencies.

I think the rain has hampered the work

I am really impressed by the infrastructural development in Imo state , the roads are gradually getting better though more needs to be done but so far so good. After the road revolution, the Imo state government should declare state of emergency on sanitation and employ proper waste management. Provision of waste recycling plants is one of the best way to manage waste. Something urgently needs to done about Douglas and Wetheral junction. Wetheral junction is gradually turning into a park and market.

The Nigerian government and the supreme court in its Anti-Igbo policies ceded Egbema with 17oil wells to Rivers even though it is the prerogative of the National Boundary Commission to define boundaries. Egbema is a community between Imo and Rivers,it has no defined boundary, NBC is still in the process of defining the boundaries, why will the Supreme Court hastily cede those communities to Rivers without waiting for the verdict of NBC?
The supreme court issue is different from the issue IPOB lamented on.
Ohaji Egbema(not Egbema) has a defined boundary in Imo state and Wike,Rivers and FG still wants to cede these communities to Rivers because it is rich in Oil and gas and has the largest gas reserve in Africa with about 202trillion cubic feet. Note that Egbema is different from Ohaji Egbema. Well Its not even possible for a community to willfully enter another state, however this illegal move must be condemned and resisted.
