CareerRe: How Much Is The Starting Salary Of A Dentist In Nigeria? by napoleon77(m): 8:07am On Mar 06, 2017
Clone2020:
After all those years of school? That's less than half of what dentists charge for a root canal in the US. You have dentists making over $250,000 a year in the US. Now I see why our brightest flee the country.
What's your basis for comparing the income of professionals in Nigeria with the income of professionals in the US?

Did you honestly expect dentists in Nigeria to earn what dentist in the US earn?

Soon you would make comparisons between the income of footballers in Nigeria with footballers in Europe.

I have seen third class graduates that are doing better in life than 2.1 graduates. In the North, there are stark illiterates that are self made millionaires. Not all of us are born to work for others bro
No one is doubting that.

I think the discourse is about getting a job and not about doing better than someone and the fact remains that all things being equal it is easier to get a job with a 2.1 than with a 2.2 or 3rd class but it doesn't necessarily mean that the graduate with a 2.1 would do better than the graduate with a 2.2 or 3rd class

Yes it's true. But you can just click 2.2 or 2.1 to just get an invite, believing you have stuffs to upgrade yourself. Do whatever that can earn you an invite. Then, show them the stuff you have upstairs when invited. My advice has helped more than 10 people get a good paying job.
Ethical organizations would reject you for dishonesty, but some other organisations may not care.
PoliticsRe: "Niger Delta Loves Buhari, People Think We Hate Him" - Lauretta Onochie by napoleon77(m): 1:42pm On Mar 04, 2017
Cambells:
President Muhammadu Buhari's personal Assistant on social media, Mrs Lauretta Onochie in a statement today said the people of Niger Delta Love President Buhari.

Reacting to an article on Thisday Newspapers (https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/03/04/host-oil-communities-declare-fasting-prayers-for-buhari/) titled "Host Oil Communities Declare Fasting, Prayers for Buhari" which explained that the leadership of several oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta yesterday declared a period of fasting and prayer for the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently in London, here's what Mrs Lauretta said below;

"WE LOVE PRESIDENT BUHARI - FACT!

I have said it many times that Niger Deltans love President Buhari. It's our thieves and their hired hands on the Social Media that have created the false impression that we, Niger Deltans, hate our President.

It would have been very glaring, had they let Niger Delta votes count during the 2015 election.

Moslems in the region have been praying for him. Now the leadership of several oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta yesterday, have declared a period of fasting and prayer for the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari.....

President Buhari was elected to serve all Nigerians and he is proving himself to be a leader of all, including the Niger Delta.

Never in the history of the world, and particularly in Nigeria has such love been expressed for a leader. The more naysayers come up with stories from unknown, unreliable and anonymous ”reliable sources", the more Nigerians love their President.

God bless Nigerians and Nigeria
God bless us, Everyone.
Lauretta Onochie

Not really true sir. I believe if you can show them value and give them reasons to invite you why won't they. There was a time I wanted relocating to Abuja for a job and I used Google to search for some IT firms in Wuse I I, I got 5 companies which I sent value propositions to via email. Surprisingly 3 of them contacted me after 3days of sending the email. I got 2 offers afterwards and I settled for one.

Most times applicants just send CV and that's all. Have you thought about why the company wants to recruit for that position? What are the current gap the company might have? And what value or solution you can bring on board. That is very key!
You won't have the chance of "showing them value" because their automated recruitment system would remove your application. That's what major private firms do.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 8 Things You Can Do To Get A Job Despite Graduating With A 2.2 by napoleon77(m): 1:13pm On Mar 04, 2017
lonelydora:
Not always so. That's what most applicants think. Once your CV is superb, any recruiter will want to invite you for a chat.
If you apply online via an automated system and the system either does not have an option for 3rd class or specifically removes 3rd class candidates then your application would end. This is what must major private firms do.

Do not add 2.2 to your CV. Just say "second class" without adding 'upper' or 'lower'.

You can defend yourself by proving to the interviewers that grade is just a number when you invited.

Point 8 is the ultimate. Just pray pray and pray.
Lots of recruiters are smart. If you are not very specific with your grade they get suspicious and won't invite you for a chat or interview

These things are relative. I graduated with a 3rd class in geology and never looked down on myself for a second. I have worked in an oil servicing company and 2 different media houses and earn what most nigerians would consider a very good salary. Thing is this, a lot of employers would offer you a job if ure confident, smart, look/ dress good, communicate effectively and ambitious. Develop urself and work on ur personality. Persona is everything.
You raised some excellent points!!

But the honest truth is that some organisations will not consider you for an aptitude test or interview if you make a 3rd class so you wont have the opportunity of showing how confident, smart, ambitious you are.

I am speaking from experience!!

Who are the we? The same people who accused him of betraying Awo in 1979?

I do hope he duly gains the respect he deserves in the South West being the first full army general from the region, as well as the only military and elected civilian head of state from the region.

To be fair he even achieved more than Awo (nationally) and in the present day Nigeria and South West he should be ranked higher than Tinubu.

You were "giving" 35k as your salary or you are paid 35k as monthly salary? Its your choice to accept the salary that was paid and also your choice to quit if you want to.

I know Nigeria is a difficult place but if with a second class upper degree in a fairly good field of study, you still end up working 15 hours a day with that poor salary then maybe the problem is you!!

Your are asking us about fairness?? Nothing is fair in life!!

Dalung arrives in Lagos for National Stadium handover talks

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, will begin a two-day working visit of the National Stadium Surulere and various youth centres in the state tomorrow, Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Nneka Anibeze, has disclosed.

The visit is connected with the plan by the ministry to hand over the National Stadium to Lagos State government. According to Anibeze, “the inspection begins what will eventually end up as a cooperation between the Federal Government and Lagos State to renovate the National Stadium. The edifice has continued to dilapidate after the last international game was played in the main bowl in 2005.”

Anibeze revealed that Governor Ambode expressed intent to give the stadium a face-lift last week, when he paid a courtesy and condolence visit to Dalung in Abuja.

Ambode had at the condolence visit tabled his intention of bringing the National Stadium to life. He said, “If this project pulls through, it will bring about the employment aspect of football and hosting of matches at the stadium. We want to bring back the football culture of Lagos State to the National Stadium after its renovation.”

Anibeze revealed that most stadia in the country had been up for concession following Federal Government’s inability to fund the renovations of most of the football grounds.

Dalung had earlier said, “We were trying to drive a concession but Lagos State’s interest in the National Stadium is what we call an overriding interest which is based on equity. If Governor Ambode is interested in the National Stadium then the concession process is already abated.”

While at the stadium, Dalung and Governor Ambode would inspect the stadium to assess the level of work to be done there before visiting the various youth centres in the state.

Great move! But can Federal assets be handed over to a state without legislative approval?

At this rate they may handover the refineries to states or private individuals on the grounds that the FG can't manage them.

BusinessRe: Food Exportation: My Experience With NAFDAC by napoleon77(m): 6:48am On Feb 28, 2017
xynerise:
Now I know that one of the problem of exportation in Nigeria is caused by people or agency that are supposed to be supporting entrepreneurs.

My sister and I visited NAFDAC office to make enquiry on cost of exporting foodstuff like Egusi, Ogbono and other native foodstuff.

She has already package these foodstuff in a sack but was told to make enquiry at NAFDAC first.

We got there and we waited for about 30 minutes before they called us. She began to narrate her plans and asked how much it will cost to be given license.

The lady said the license will cost her N50 million for a start, imagine a business that the capital is not even up to N10 Million. These made my sister to rain abuses on the lady because she was so shocked on such exorbitant amount for a start.

Another man came out which I believe is in higher position than the lady we first met and invited us to his office. After we narrated what led to the drama, he smiled and said "She didn't even give you the right price, you will be charged N100 million for it". Just imagine.

This is how entrepreneurs are discouraged to do business abroad and they expect Nigeria to move forward.

I want to know if what these NAFDAC staff charged us is reality or just obvious exploitation?
This your story

NAFDAC does not issue license for exporting foodstuff. It's issued by NEPC. The last time I got my license some years ago it cost me just a few thousand Naira.

I doubt if NAFDAC officials would quote such figures for any type of food licensing.

What exact is your argument? Are you in support or against wild life been hunted or killed indiscriminately.
At no point in our brief discourse have I given the impression that I support the indiscriminate killing of animals.

My argument has always been that there is nothing wrong with killing an animal for food legally.

And it is unfair if wild life could be killed for fun and entertainment by some sets of people but we then criticise other people who kill wild life for food.

The Japanese and Norwegians see nothing wrong in killing whales for food but some people in the west object.

Nigerians see nothing wrong with eating cow leg, shaki etc but some people in the west object.

It seems you did not get the point. I really don't know what you mean by bush meat.? If you mean grasscutters, guinea fowl, rabbits etc, they are animals that can be reared and are in fact are in large numbers compared to the likes of Hippo's.

Check your facts well, there is an international treaty on hunting of whales.(So the numbers and type the japanse hunt are actually limited).
Ok. Check your facts and tell me if there is an international or even a local law against killing hippopotamus to feed in Kebbi State.

And I can argue that the Norwegians and Japanese still kill whales for food so it's not fair to criticise people in Kebbi who killed a hippopotamus for food.

My point remains that wild life is still being killed for fun and entertainment by people in the Western world but we criticise Africans who killed wild life for food. It doesn't seem fair. Or does it?
