Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man who founded and chairs Dangote Cement, the continent’s largest cement producer is worth more than American President and business mogul Donald Trump and Celebrity businesswoman Oprah Winfrey.

Mr Dangote, who has vast investment interests in cement, sugar, flour and beverages was the first black man to attain a position among the world’s 25 richest people in 2014.

In an analysis careful drawn from the Forbes 2017 list, Mr. Dangote who is reputed to be the leader among 40 richest people in both Nigeria and Africa has a net worth of $11.7 billion which is almost twice as much as the recently elected American president’s ($3.7 billion) and Oprah’s ($3 billion).
However, it could be said that his net worth could have been much higher but for the recent drop in fortune that has seen him drop down on the list to 115th with a current net worth of $11.7 billion.

Despite a nearly $5 billion drop in his net worth for the second year in a row, the Nigerian cement tycoon remains the richest person in Africa for the sixth year running. He has an estimated net worth of $12.1 billion.

Thank you for your insult. By God's grace, this will never happen to us again and i will never beg again. You think i'm happy coming online to beg?
I am not a fan of begging for money online.

Is it that you have asked ALL your family members and relatives and they all said no and the only option was to come online?

What happens next year? Would you come again and ask for money for JAMB? for 100 level school fees? For financial assistance to complete her tertiary education?

Asking for financial assistance this way is clearly a short term solution and won't last.

What's the realistic long term plan for funding her education?

Definitely your child is not like every other child and has delayed delayed developmental milestones, that could be due to a myriad of reasons, usually genetic, or intrapartum pathologies
You need to see a paediatric neurologist.
Your wonderful son needs special care, but is it possible for him to grow up to be self sufficient? Yes, albeit challenging. Some autistic children have grown up to be doctors, engineers. Don't despise the poor boy cause none of this is his fault
The child is clearly autistic and needs special care.

I'm not sure medication can cure autism, all the child needs is special care. I'm not sure there are special needs schools in Nigeria but that's the type of school he needs to attend.

I don't seem to understand how some people take my views out of context and how someone I thought I was having an intelligent argument with will turn and say I am illiterate. But let's leave that.

My argument has always been that Lagos is the most developed part of Nigeria. Yes. But you can't attribute that development to recent govts in Lagos.

The Lagos State Govt official website even clearly acknowledges the part Colonialist, the Federal Govt, the economic boom of the 60s and 70s etc played in developing the colony, Federal Territory and State.

THe FG never ruled LAGOS STATE. Lagos state was never the capital of Nigeria just a few LGAS. Certainly not Ikeja. .
We really need to be clear what we mean by LAGOS
IF the FG was so good for Lagos how come it never raised upto 8 billion in I BEFORE 1999.
HOW COME ABUJA is not doing so well?
This argument is derailing.

Are we talking about the whole of the state or you want us to talk about only the developments of the parts of Lagos that were never part of the original Lagos Federal Territory and Colony?

My friend Lagos is different from Lagos State. Educate yourself on that,Lagos state = Lagos (IKOYI, VI, LAGOS ISLAND) + Part of Western region (Ikeja,Ajah,Lekki,Surulere etc)

Lagos is what the British and the FG developed as the Capital.
If you remove Ikeja, the other developed parts of Lagos were part of the Lagos Federal Territory set up by the Colonialist and Federal Govt pre-1976

FO DOES NOT TAX PEOPLE State government do. Educate yourself
The British Colonialist ruled and developed Lagos from 1861 to 1960.

The Federal govt of Nigeria ruled and developed Lagos as Federal capital between 1960 and 1991.

That's over 130 year gap over other states and regions. That's the edge Lagos has had over other parts of Nigeria.

That's even ignoring the side effects of the development caused by the Colonialists and Federal Govt.

Do not equate the development of Lagos State to the South West.

Mr. calm down. The poster you quoted didn't even say whether the allocation OBJ withheld was the state govt. or Local Govt, but in anycase, didn't the state govt sue OBJ's FG to court and eventually won at the Supreme Court which gave the verdict that OBJ had no right to hold back Lagos money and that a state government has a right to create a local government which will only become complete and active upon the participation of the National Assembly as stipulated in the constitution? Those LG funds affected the finances of Lagos at the time. #FACT. And this situation propelled the then Governor, BAT, to shore up the finances of the state via creative ways of increasing its IGR.

So whether it was State or LG allocation that was withheld is an irrelevant point really. The FACT remains that allocations due to the Lagos state government were illegally withheld for years and this birthed ?? [/b]the IGR drive that has set Lagos apart from other states of the federation today.
Get your facts right! Lagos (the state where I was born and have paid taxes before I relocated) has been apart from other areas in Nigeria for over a century.

Lagos was the first part of Nigeria to become a British Colony. In 1861.

Lagos has been capital of Nigeria in one form or the other for over a hundred years. Long before the FG moved to Abuja in 1991 (not too sure of the year).

The gap that Lagos has over other states and regions in Nigeria can't be attributed to recent governments or political parties.

The British Colonialist ruled over Lagos from 1861 to 1960- 99 years! Longer than they even ruled over Nigeria.

Lagos ìs the most developed place in Nigeria BUT not because of any recent state govt or political party.

Who built the 3 mainland bridges? Who built Ikoyi and VI? Who made multinationals come to Lagos? All these happened decades before all this PDP, AC, ACN, APC and even NPN and UPN issues.

go and ask tinubu how he did it during OBJ era.
This is an error many people keep making about the face-off between Tinubu and OBJ.

The FG during the final years of OBJ's tenure did not withhold Lagos State Govt allocations. What was withheld were the allocations of funds due to the LGA's in the state. So it's wrong to say the state govt survived without allocations from the Federation Account. It was the Local Govt Authorities that were denied allocations.
RomanceRe: I Am In Love With A Girl But Pastor Say We Can't Marry. by napoleon77(m): 5:04pm On Mar 15, 2017
olaszydaruma:
This is my first post on Nairaland, so please don't mind my grammar, in case I made some mistakes as I was in a hurry typing these.

There was a girl I have being dating since August 2015. I met her at a computer IT place, she was learning as an apprentice. I spoke to her and I asked for her number but she was reluctant to give me. Few days later, I went to the place to do some computer graphics work and she was the one attending to me. When she was about finishing the work, I stylishly asked for her number, she didn't give me but collected mine; her excused was that she has lost her phone and planning to get a new one. To cut the long story short, she called me and I make my intentions clear. I was put on trial for three weeks before she could finally said yes.
Midway to the relationship, she decided to take me to her place for the first time. On getting to her place, I saw her sisters and brother and one young child probably between the ages of 1 to 2. She introduces me to them and I was very happy to meet them.
Since then, she has been disturbing me that she has something to tell me but when I asked her what it is, she will only reply later. I'm the kind of person that always anticipate whenever someone has something to tell me. I called her and told her that I hate her attitude of delaying whenever she has something to tell me (its not the first time she will do that), she apologise and promise to tell me at the weekend.
Few days after, she was at my place and after we enjoyed watching a movie together, she looked straight at my face and told me if I could remember the day I followed her to place and I replied yes. She said that young child I saw is her baby, I was really shocked and I thought she was joking because she doesn't look like someone that could have gotten pregnant not to even talk about having a baby. She said she was not joking and I asked her how did it happen. She narrated to me that a guardian who her mother trust her with got her pregnant. The man was to help her study but was adding the other room stuff with it. She said she could not tell her mum because of fear and she did not know she's pregnant until the third month. I asked her if she didn't notice her period will have stop coming during those time, she said she notice but thought it was just a mere period disorder. I was just in awe of everything and could not believe a girl I had wish to be serious with has already given birth before. I asked her how did her parent took the issues, she said they were all mad at her and had the man(married with two kids) that got her pregnant locked up. The man was later freed. She said the issues affected her relationship with her dad and they seldom see face to face. She was in tears narrating all these, all I could do was just to calm her down. I told her nobody in this world that is above mistake and she should try and learn from it.
Since then, I have always acts like a normal boyfriend. I didn't allow what she told me affect our relationship, in order words, I was glad she told me early and I made her know everything is alright between me and her. I was in school then and sometimes she do help me with money when I'm broke.
I decided to seek spiritual guidance about her from my pastor but I was told we can't marry(my pastor have not seen her before). The reason my pastor gave was that the beginning may be rosy but there would be lot of hardship for me in the future. I have grown to love this girl but I don't know how to leave her. I have already been warn not to tell her with words but something will happen that will cause breakup between me and her. Nothing that could cause breakup up is yet to happen and we are still doing great together.

So nairalanders, should I leave this girl or continue dating her and risked what I've being warn, she has really help me during my school days and I believe it will be very harsh on her to leave her after everything we have both pass through. Advice your brother, no insult please.
So you marry based on your Pastors opinion and not based on love? Ok.

Very misleading post!

The fact that this could make front page is beyond belief.

The poster made an assumption of the salary of one grade level in Zenith Bank but the headline of the post is about the salary scale of the bank.

The salary scale includes grades like GM, DGM, AGM, SM, Manager, Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager, Senior BO etc. Did he provide thier salaries? No. All he did was to provide a salary of a grade he calls basic level.

After i left secondary school in 2007, i started working for my uncle who owns a pharmaceautical outlet in balogun, Idumota, while i hustled for my OND. I was the youngest amongst my colleagues(But i was more educated than them all)..No be fumble grin
Because of my academic background(thanks to my mum), i was priviledged to assume the position as the manager(Na one man business sha).

In 2010, i left my uncle(due to much inconveniences, no pay and trust issues) and secured a job in an iceblock factory. The wife was the in charge before i came in and my takehome was 10k/month. Thereafter, i was assigned as the manager with my salary raised @ 3% extra!
I was a manager for 3years, then i left in 2013.

Later on, that same year 2013, i got a job in a hotel. worked as a waiter, attendant and even receptionist with a monthly pay of 16,100. Though with other great benefits, food, mortgage and health insurance.

I left there in 2014 and got a job as a salesman with a mass garment production factory in ikeja. Lucky enough, i am social savvy with quite a level of graphic design experience and this earned me the positon as a Graphic Designer and social media manager of the same company(name withheld). Wisely, i applied as a security officer(Night) with a security oufit and i was posted to omole phase 2, a surburb of Lagos.

My day working(Graphics design and social media) hours was 9a.m to 5p.m while my night working hours(Security) was 7p.m to 7a.m. i was earning 30k from my day job, on the other hand i earned 25k as a night security supervisor, making a total of 55k(plus numerous benefits from the likes of E-money, Ifeanyi Ubah and residents in general). I worked as a graphic designer, social media manager and security officer from 2014 to 2016.

Presently, i work with one of the leading microfinance bank in Nigeria as a Brand Support Assistant(Majorly in Graphic design and minorly, social media, internal and external communications...blah blah blah). I have developed at least 6 websites and i have managed about 12 websites as a freelancer before i secured the bank job. Thus, you can see i was well groomed and i can literally fit into any work environment. I currently earn close to 10x of my first salary at the moment. I am currently running a part-time BSc. program. I HAVE A DREAM!

So, to all undergraduates, fresh graduates and job-seekers out there...biko, start from anywhere, you can't tell where your job will lead you. i remember i posted something about Digital Marketing yesterday on my facebook page, our HR manager commented on the post, that he would like to introduce me to someone.

Please and please...don't wait for that office work. Don't spend your precious time(time is money) surfing the web foolishlisy. Instead, go online, read articles, enrol in free online courses and develop yourself.(no be everything dem go teach you for school).
