So they have money like this, dem come dey only pay 40m for Gallagher.
Like this Samu dey join Chelsea Remember when you disagreed that we were signing players just for the sake of it. Do you agree now? |

Vischy: Thank you apostle airmark even the blind and the unbelievers can understand your point and l agree 100% with you.
We certainly need a goal poacher before it's late at least one of ISAK, Gyokeres or osimhen. Like I say, Airmark is creating a followership on this topic but only on half the story. This is the nuance. Only 1 of those big chances fell to the striker yesterday. The other 3 fell to Enzo, Madueke and Sterling. All 3 failed to convert a single one. If we had the prolific Halaand on our side, the score would have 4-3. If we didn't, but had say Nico Williams on the left, Olise on the right, and say a Lampard type midfielder instead of Enzo, it would have been 5-4 in favour of Chelsea. That's the other half of the story. We need to score 80 goals minimum to stand a chance of finishing in top four. 87+ for top 3 and 90+ for top 2. A prolific striker is only going to get you 25 (PL only) of those. Where's the rest going to come from? That's why the more pertinent problem is the support cast we have and not a prolific striker. |

BlueAngel444: Gusto and Mudryk was Gusto playing wings Gusto was playing left wing actually. It was a clever tactical role. Instead of inverting into midfield from a starting LB position, he was running up to the LW position to create the width from a starting LB position. His normal position as an inverted LB was being covered by Caicedo. But he still ran all the way back for defensive cover to make a back four. But tactically, the box midfield was still intact with KDH/Enzo as the double 8s and the Lavia/Caicedo as double 6s, and the back 3 + GK in offensive stance. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 1:17am On Aug 04, 2024 |
Ibime: All these is due to overpassing at the back and placing too many men on the wrong side of the ball. Only Maresca can cause 4 misplaced passes to lead to 4 goals because he is forcing them to overplay in dangerous positions and placing one less man at the back so a misplaced pass means immediate threat on goal
In the words of Cam'ron, niggas misplace passes everyday B. But in Maresca case, a misplaced pass is almost always fatal So a systemic issue which I believe he saw, and tried to fix immediately by making changes. And what better time to do so - assessing inherent squad strengths and weakness - than pre-season. I would rather a guy who's trying to set up a visible and identifiable system of play, but is insightful enough to know when changes are required. Moreover, most of the misplaced passes are also as a result of teammates still learning where each other is standing in positional play. That cannot be a bad thing. It only gets better with time. |

Ibime: Oga, sacrificing a winger for a 4th CM is usually a team locking up, not becoming more open.
Never in the history of football has packing the midfield led to a team being more open
Quit capping for Maresca abeg No one is capping for Maresca oga. We were not open. We misplaced passes in the wrong places and City capitalised. 2nd goal, Caicedo mistake, 3rd and 4th goals, Nkunku mistakes. The goals never happened because we were open. No be same game we watch? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 12:36am On Aug 04, 2024 |
Ibime: What does lack of width in midfield have to do with being open as a whøre house at the back? Lack of width means that City can push up on us, thereby allowing them to overload the midfield, resulting in mistakes. All four goals came from mistakes under pressure, not from being open as a LovePeddler house. He compromised personnel in specific positions to assess tactical flexibility of his squad. I cannot see how that's a bad thing..... during pre-season. |

BlueAngel444: This boys look mentally tired, hope they get sharp soon o.
After getting used to one system na to adjust enter another one 😁
Even KDH, pet, still dey play rubbish No. The system has not changed, only personnel. He tried to start Nkunku in no 9, KDH, Caicedo, Enzo and Lavia at the same time. He therefore sacrificed width to test this, using Gusto and Mudryk. It's not worked, he's found this out. He's changed it. And he can only do all this because it's Pre Season. |

Ballzproblemm: note we're still without palmer and cucurella o. No mind that one. He's just a complaint merchant. Maresca is trying out a full 11 and tactics he's never tried before, including the possibility of playing Enzo, Lavia, Caicedo, and KDH together. Something we might have to do during the season for one reason or the other. He's trying to be flexible with tactics. We rather he tries this during PS. |

Because nobody will buy now for more than £20m. But unfortunately, he's not done that justice. We might as well have given the minutes to Deivid. |
