coogar: @ nateevs,

that's an odd way to look at it. if roman didn't pay up 2 years ago, the last financial current you are talking about wouldn't be debt-free. it's a ripple effect! there's no way chelsea can sustain operating cost with 40,000 stadium capacity that is never sold-out! the wages of your players are astronomical and you have hired 10 managers in 10 seasons - having to pay their severance fees for sacking them!!!
Actually, yours is a historical way of looking at the issue. The discussion is about the future hence the statements, if Romans walks Chelsea will die.

The more important thing is what happened since the years Chelsea had Roman's input and I am sorry to disappoint folks, it's actually turned out good.

Chelsea made a profit in the last financial year. This year we've spent far less in transfer fees and wage bill is less. There's likely to be increased commercial revenue. Also TV money is going up from the £54m earned in 2012/13.

Regarding stadium, there's a difference between full attendance and unsold season tickets. You cannot get a Chelsea season ticket as we speak.

ritchboy: But some months ago I recall Nateevs saying "Chelsea cannot sign Rory Delap without Roman's input"... So either:

A. Chelsea have since won the lottery.
B. You were talking nonsense then.
C. You are talking nonsense now.
D. B + C.

The smart money is on D grin
Pretty sure that was no later than 2010 as opposed to "some months ago" as you claim.
Agba ti de. grin grin grin

coogar: incorrect?
if roman didn't pay up chelsea's debt some 2 years ago, would chelsea be able to sustain operating cost? how much do chelsea make in revenue? what's the player wage/turnover ratio?
nateevs: As at the last financial statements, it is absolutely incorrect.

Ibime: Get off ma dikk ninja. I'm telling ninjas what I would do, you telling me nonsense about Barca.

In 2008 when Barca paid £25m for Chygrinski same time Thiago Silva cost £7m, is this the argument you would have used?

I said I would sell Luiz for £30m and buy another dude for £4m and you telling ninjas thank God I'm not Jose, as if Jose has not already offered Luiz in part exchange this very summer and for way less than £30m.
Brilliant. It's what you would do right? So thank God Jose is in charge.
Is the implication that Chelsea cannot sustain their current operating costs without Roman incorrect?
As at the last financial statements, it is absolutely incorrect.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m):
Ibime: You chatting nonsense. There are 3 other competent defenders in the club to mitigate replacing Luiz like for like, although if you try to push that as the argument, I can tell you now that Okore has it all, even more than Luiz.

If Eluaquim Mangala was not valued at £25m by Porto, JM would have bought him as direct replacement for David Luiz. Maybe Jose valued Eluaquim at £15m - yet like for like considered him more reliable than Luiz. Likewise, I make bold to say Okore is even more desirable than Eluaquim based on the strengths of both players. The difference in prices between all these players is simply difference in their level of exposure

Now on what basis would anyone say Sturridge should ride bench for Torres in 2012 as you did. Was that based on 2009 prices?
Still back to the same thing I am saying. As it stands, it seems only you can see the value. I wonder why no one has told Barcelona this. Seeing as they can save £26m and get a defender who does exactly what Luiz does.

The reason they don't see it is because it is not true.

It is a valid argument that exposure is a factor that could affect a player's valuation but it's not entirely accurate. Ryan Bertrand has amassed 53 apps for Chelsea and you would be lucky to get £4m for him. Ultimately, it comes down to ability and then subsequent achievement when the opportunity presents itself.

David Luiz is not in the class of Okore. Not in 2013. And there is nothing to suggest at this point in time that he can be effectively replaced by Okore.

SailorXY: ^^^ unless your clear abundance of knowledge is trying hard to point out no relationship between the empires @ anzhi, citeh, monaco, etc & chelski, then I can't be bothered understanding your superiority Mr. Einsten
Same ol garbage. Your knowledge of financial sustenance does not extend beyond the common factor of sugar daddy owners of the clubs mentioned.

Chelsea revenue as at 2013, £261m. To put things in perspective, Chelsea will not pay a pound less than the wage it currently pays if Roman walks away as I am typing this. That's why I say you are talking garbage.

Imagine this dude comparing that to Anzhi's paltry 64m Euros revenue and thinking there's any sort of similarity. And then trying to draw similarities between Chelsea and Monaco who only have a 18,000 stadium capacity.

Just stop abeg. There's more to football than just watching it on TV.

SailorXY: I can't even be arssed bout trying to understand this question wink
Of course not. Cos trying to will show you clearly how much garbage you like to share. Like saying Chelsea will go back to Europa League status if Roman leaves. There's banter and then there's plain lack of knowledge. When you start to compare Anzhi and Chelsea, then I can't help but conclude you are on to spewing garbage. . again!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 11:19am On Aug 22, 2013
Ibime: Are you being cheeky or what?

So what's the reason that Torres cost £50m and Sturridge cost us £5m.

No wonder nincompoops insisted that Torres must start whilst Sturridge must ride bench.

How much did Luiz cost at age 20? And why does he still make mistakes one would expect from a 20 year old?
Two separate arguments mate. Value and replacement.
If you are recommending Okore at £4m as good value, then I believe all will accept. He's got potential and could cost £30m someday. That's an argument of good value. Back up defender, cheap, comes in and does a good job but only when Luiz is injured or to satisfy the purpose of squad rotation.

The ridiculous is when one starts to believe that actually the value is in selling Luiz for £30m and replacing him directly with Okore. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that at this point in time. That's a replacement argument and that's garbage. So it only makes sense to be reminded that there's a reason Luiz is valued at £30m and Okore is not. If Okore gives that much output and I repeat, at this moment in time, he would be wearing the Barcelona colours now. And they get to save £26m.

Torres was valued at £50m because of what he achieved leading up to that point - 3rd best WPOTY. Sturridge was £5m for what he achieved at the same time. If you suggested in 2009 to replace Torres with Sturridge because you saw potential and value, it would have been just as ridiculous as the Okore suggestion in 2013.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 11:41pm On Aug 21, 2013
I believe there's a reason Luiz is valued at £30m and Okore is not. If Okore will remotely fill a void left by Luiz, you would think that Barcelona also would see value in spending £4m over £30m.

Thank goodness Jose is in charge.

lalaboi: I guess i expected more in terms of stats. . FPL captainship nor dey smile na. . angry

And No. We had no best player on the pitch. The performance was poor. We were lucky!
The performance was poor? Did you see the amount of running those guys were doing? It was non-stop pressing. As Jose said on Chelsea TV, it's a few seconds possession recovery. And that's what I saw from every single player. Extreme commitment to the cause.

It's only the 2nd game of the season. Fitness still short of peak levels. It's not even the time for criticisms yet. As Jose expressed in a Chelsea TV interview, lot of work is till being done on transitions to counter attack and possession football with KDB, Oscar, Mata, Schurrle and Hazard.

I believe they have done very well.

Perhaps you were expecting more goals. Goals and assists don't always equal good performance.

imo after Oscar, Eden was the best player on the pitch.
Mate, Edumare shower you with blessings.
Was beginning to think I was alone on this.

He was arguably the most effective player on the pitch.
In my opinion, a close one with Oscar.

lalaboi: Guyz. . . Do we really need 4 strikers with a 4231 formation?

I am seriously thinking Rooney will not fit in Chelsea. . he will only be a killer buy to spoil man UTD's title chances/weaken them and not add anything significant to Chelsea! . .
Unless Mourinho is looking at a 2 man striker partnership. . .we all know chelsea play shit in a 4 4 2
I quite agree we don't need to line up as 4-2-3-1 always. Especially against Hull.
However it's not true that Rooney, 4-2-3-1 or not, will not add anything significant.

You can argue that Rooney has more work rate than all our strikers bar Lukaku. What is sure is that Rooney is infinitely better with the ball at his feet than all our strikers put together. That alone will indicate better football and hold-up play up front. Not to add that Rooney, at this moment, is about more prolific than all our strikers.

There's a lot of significance Rooney's addition would bring to the Chelsea squad.

OMO IBO: I struggle to understand nateevs sometimess.

Strurridge if I'm correct outscored and desfinitely outperformed tores despite being played out of position and his lack of chances. But for reasons best known to you, you still consider him cr4p. Meanwhile, torres who wasnt under pressure wass busy fluffing chances.

Even Jesus woulda postponed his second coming for Torres.
Is that all you got from my post?
Who called him crap? If you are asking for my personal opinion on Sturridge, I would have given more chances than he got.
What I bring to your attention is why he wasn't chosen by three managers.
And don't give me the Torres shite.
