If you have, according to you, a clear and focused transfer policy of buying U-25s, you won't sell a 23 year old Sturridge and buy a 28 year old Ba. That is the exact OPPOSITE of your so called ‘clear and focused policy’.
See this dude. I clearly stated in my first post or second post that there will be the odd over 25 bad for experience in depth. You ignore that to write rubbish. We needed a striker in January and one that would hit the ground running. You think clear and focused means buying an inexperienced U25 striker? What are you talking about? Even if you could find one, which was available in "JANUARY"? Experienced strikers don't usually come in U25s. That doesn't mean we don't have a clear and focused transfer policy.

So now you’re a mind reader? huh I gave two examples, that's all. Or am I also criticising the quality of Schurrle? huh
So should I help you then? We are stock piling Mata and Hazard too right?

Who said he forced a loan? Or are you exhibiting your dyslexia again? huh One would think Lukaku was playing games in order to score goals - or were you expecting him to score while sitting on the bench? huh
Oh now he didn't force a loan. You seemed to know why he went on loan as seen in this quote "Lukaku went on loan because he was frustrated and mismanaged by Chelski". You didn't say he was sent on loan. Wen I paint a picture of a deliberate attempt to get a player on loan, you are telling why else he went. You seem to know. If we didn't deliberately send him on loan then he must have forced it. How else did he get there?

While there are no guarantees of performance, if Chelski didn’t believe he would be successful (based on his track record - two 20 goal a season performances) they wouldn’t have bought him in the first place.
Oh really? You mean like Mutu, Crespo, Sheva, Torres before him? What are you talking about dude?

Why will you see anything? You might as well be blind seeing you call a muddled transfer policy ‘clear and focused’. cheesy

Benitez said: “We have to think about recalling Romelu. “In a way, it’s good for him to stay there because he is playing and that is good for his development. But we have to analyse everything. “It’s too soon for me. Maybe after a couple more games I will have another opinion.”

So I’m supposed to believe all this nonsense because you said it? Players cannot lose weight without games? grin grin grin

Benitez - Chelski’s coach - said he was considering the recall, and this doofus says his loan was ‘never going to be interrupted’. Why was there the need for a clause allowing recall if the loan ‘was never going to be interrupted’? cheesy
Oh really? You believe Benitez now right? The same dude who said in the same sentence that it's too soon for him. Lukaku had only scored 5 goals at this point and you believe he Benitez believes what he said? Did Benitez send him on loan?

You don't have to believe what I said. Lukaku himself talked about it here. http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza/videozone/programmas/extratime/ET_Episode_20130520

And who says players cannot lose weight without games. Did you miss the part where I said lose weight and maintain sharpness? If Lukaku spent the last year at Chelsea, would you now be saying he was mismanaged? Instead you will be calling him a flop just like you are calling Ba a flop.

Oh shut up - did you buy Marin, KDB and Romeu (to name a few) yesterday that we should only wait till May 2014 for results? Why didn’t their stockpiling bring results in 2012 or 2013? Why 2014? Oh wait - is this also part of the ‘behind the scenes’ info you’re bringing? grin
Oh now the stock-piling extends to KDB who didn't play at Chelsea last season and Romeu who was injured almost throughout last season. Someone help this fella. At this rate we might as well admit the purchases of Hazard, Mata were disguised attempts at stock-piling. Do you know how many 3 for £5 players you have on huge wages? Yet we are stock-piling.

And talking about results - One Champions League Trophy, One FA Cup and One Europa Cup in that time. Bite your own head off.

Are you suggesting that the number of games played has a bearing on sheer abilities displayed in respective videos? That's a first.

Nani is a good player but to say Nani is "obviously" better than Hazard? Haba!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 10:00am On Jul 17, 2013
No - are you dyslexic? huh I said your transfer policy isn't clear and focused.
I can't help but ask the question when you make "clear and focused" look like "fool proof". What should it look like when it's clear and focused?

You really missed the point - I wasn't criticising Marin’s quality per se, although the reason you gave up there makes zero sense. You’re claiming a dud player was bought because y’all were going into the EL? cheesy
Oh! Now I have missed the point. You were criticising Marin's quality. End of. You didn't say we were stock-piling Hazard and Oscar. You said Marin and Schurrle. The other point I made was that Marin would not have been bought had we already been sure we could attract the likes of Hazard. It does make sense.

Lukaku went on loan because he was frustrated and mismanaged by Chelski. Y’all would rather buy Ba who was a flop than recall Lukaku who was scoring goals in the same league - and that is a focused transfer policy?
Phew! Mate, no player under contract can force a loan. How much less an 18-year old? The best he can do is discuss his options. Secondly, isn't it amazing how all these fans use the benefit of hindsight to discuss an issue that happened early last season? One would think Lukaku was scoring goals before he went out on loan. If Lukaku went out on loan and didn't score a single goal, the same people claiming Lukaku was mismanaged would be saying Chelski have wasted another £18m. Now everyone's acting like a fortune-teller who knew Lukaku would be a success on loan.

As to your point of Ba. He (Ba) had scored 14 goals at the time he joined Chelsea. Yet you call him a flop. Words no one was using at the time Ba was being transferred. I also did not see anyone saying why not call back Lukaku? How many goals had Lukaku scored by January 2013?

Lukaku on joining Chelsea has weight issues. Weighing about 101KG with 10% body fat. He had to drop a lot of weight and body fat and staying at Chelsea would not have given him the number of games he needed to work on his body, diet, whilst maintaining sharpness. The decision was made to go on loan and now he's dropped down to 94KG with 6% body fat. His loan was never going to be interrupted. These are decisions that go on behind the scenes you mug. tongue I see this and call it clear and focused, you read The Sun. cheesy

Oh? Why May 2014? Why not look at last season’s table? Or the season before? Abi the focus wasn’t there last season? cheesy
Sebi we are stock piling? So we will see if stock piling yields results. And that can only happen in May 2014 and not in 2013 or 2012 just so you know.

Yeah - this ‘clear and focused’ transfer policy sold 23 year old Sturridge and bought 28 year old Ba in January, and in the same period the 23 year old Sturridge scored more goals at Liverpool than Ba did at Chelski. Clear indeed. grin
Sturridge wanted to leave. We could do absolutely nothing about it. He refused to extend his contract and could have walked for free. Instead we sold him for £15m and bought a proven goal scorer for £7m.

El Guapo: [color=#0066ff]Likely Line-Up for tomorrow's game : Petr Cech, Wallace, Tomas Kalas, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Lucas Piazon, Kevin De Bruyne, Andre Schurrle, Romelu Lukaku.

The second half side will begin:

Jamal Blackman, Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Chalobah, Ryan Bertrand, Marco van Ginkel, Ramires, Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Demba Ba, Victor Moses.

debosky: ^^ Clear and focused transfer policy? cheesy

What is clear and focused about stockpiling the likes of Marin, De Bruyne, Schurrle and co while leaving gaping holes in the DM position?

What is clear and focused about buying a player like Lukaku, then sending him on loan and then realising you need another striker and then rushing out to buy Ba?
Sorry, are you mocking us for not having a "perfect transfer policy"?
I do not get your point. Ofcourse there will be the odd bad buy like Marin. We didn't invent mistakes. May I even add that Marin was bought under different circumstances? It was largely believed we were playing in the Europa league the season after until we won the CL.

Stop lying to yourself. Lukaku went out on loan to gain experience just like Wilshere did. The loan was a success and naturally, he comes back into the team just like Wilshere did. We went out to buy Ba in January because we sold Sturridge.

As for the supposed gaping hole in DM, sebi Jose is here? Abi Jose too cannot see it? Stock piling shey? The table will judge in May 2014.

The transfer policy is clear and focused because it's moved away from over paying for average or good players in their mid to late 20s to scouting players on the verge of becoming world class with, importantly, a resale value - all players bought in the last 2.5 years are below the age of 25. (Apart from Schwazer).

Perhaps it will be balanced by the odd over 25 for depth in experience but we are hardly over paying. That is clear and focused to me.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m):
dayokanu: Jose Mourinho is more rigid in his approach. He selects a core of players and uses them till they drop. Remember in his tenure at Chelsea, the same Terry, lampard, Cech, Essien, Drogba would even play Carling cup. It was Jose who had the untouchables 9 out of 11 at Chelsea

That was why some players were played to the ground while others barely got a sniff of the first team
I would argue that it was more of a result of overpaying for a lot average players and having only a dependable few that got us into a situation of having only a handful of consistent players. Jose is someone who loves reliability in players. As such, the reliable ones get to play. We can argue that there are pros and cons of that approach but that's a topic for a different day.

What we have now in contrast is a clear and focused transfer policy, that has fetched us pool of young players eager to impress with many of them having relatively the same level of output. Perhaps some will begin to blossom than others as the days goes by, at this point in time, no one is a clear favourite. (Apart from Mata)

By the end of the window, the all round quality of the team and quality in depth we have now will be better than what we had in 2004 and I expect JM to adjust to that.

dayokanu: Peps tactics being so energy sapping would involve a lot of rotations Which would see our many players get lots of game time. Also we have more games, Super Cup, Intercontinental cup

Its a game by game strategy . When you play weaker teams you can use the Scweini Thiago Pivot with kroos as Attacking midifelder since we aim at 70% ball possesion and the famous 10 second retriving the ball back strategy which makes offensive players run a lot

With teams stronger on attack we can revert back to the martinez- Schweini pivot.

Also we cant really be too sure of injuries, We have Schweini, Robben and Ribery around 30yrs and their fitness wont be top notch.

Last yr we were 1yellow card away from missing Dante, Martinez, Schweini or Gustavo in the CL finals
Which is very similar to what JM employs - pressing wise.
And you asked last week why we seemed to want two players per position.

Mate there is a clear difference between what Bayern are doing now and what Barca were/are. Barca's reign was based largely on their style. In terms of personnel, mainly, Iniesta, Xavi and Messi were very the ones pivotal to Barca's success.

Bayern conversely, are taking the pivot of success off the hands (or legs as is the case here) of any single or few players. They have talent in depth and are totally fearsome front to back. With Lewandowski largely rumoured to be joining them, they boast of all the rudiments of a successful team - pace, power, finesse, good defense and goals. Plus they are doing what we failed to do over the years - building when on top.

Unless Pep totally fkucs things up.

Ibime: When madness keep repeating itself, you will know fools are in power. Was there a single game last season where Chelsea were not bullied physically in midfield?

Rafa had several argument with some slowpokes requesting new DM and the team had to finish the season with an unplanned midfield 2, Lampard and a converted centre back in order to save an ounce of respectability from the season whilst Emenalos planned midfield was shunted aside.

Emenalo is an eediot confirmed, busy stacking players where it's not needed.

These ninjas have shackled Jose but there is still hope. I'm still hearing rumours of De Rossi and Kondogbia which is heartening whilst Emenalo keep chasing last season's soft targets. Can you imagine Jose talking of Chelsea will not win league this season, despite the millions of talents on display? He knows this team has no steel and is sceptical of being allowed to add steel to the midfield. Two signings in midfield is all that's needed to make this team dominant yet Emenalo keep chasing fantasies with ninnies. I hope Jose will be allowed to sign some of his usual rugged niggas before window closes. One positive though is the sloth Obi Mikel potentially leaving.
I don't believe JM agreed to come to Chelsea without concrete agreement about filling holes (if there are any holes). I don't believe the 'JM has been shackled' idea. This is an almost unlikely scenario. JM is a smart guy who I believe, second time around on the job, must be able to smell from a mile away the hindrances to success - the most important of which will be not being able to sign his own players.

I don't believe Emenalo will get in the way of JM's identified targets neither will JM get in the way of signing players for the future, identified by the scouting network.

Regarding De Rossi, a tough tackler for sure but prominent for his technical ability on the ball. A very strong player (no doubt); who gives you a bit of Alonso and a bit of Iniesta but solves little of any physical problem. Not sure we will be buying Kondogbia and this points more to the fact that there are no more physical deficiencies to be alienated than there are back up goalies to be bought.

Moreover you cannot solve any supposed physical problems with only one player. And as it's an either or situation with Kondogbia and De Rossi, what happens if "the only one" who joins gets injured? We are suddenly back to a less physical team? You would think JM already has this figured out.

And I am sure he has a solution in mind. A solution that leans more towards being more defensively organized as a group, being physically fitter than seasons past and reminding players of their commitment to group-work than the infusion of more physical but less technical players.

JM's apparent concession of the league is in line with this "new JM-Chelsea image" and humility he is selling. If anyone thinks JM truly has conceded, that person is in for a shock.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m):
dayokanu: Some players would never agree to be rotated. E.g If Ronaldo is not played every game it would be wahala.

If Mata, Hazard just had a very good game, and you pull them out by 60min or dont start them next game. They become agitated and some other clubs are there to offer them game time.

In our case we had Roben who is guaranteed injured. Robben and Ribery are around 30 and their fitness would only get worse, So it makes sense to get ready backups.

But in Chelsea all these AM are 25yrs or less approaching the peak of their careers
Yes Ronaldo does not like to be rotated but thank God we don't have Ronaldo. And I don't see anyone we have who can demand what Ronaldo does.

You are looking at it all wrongly. Look at the positions, the manager and intended set up. No one knows now quite how we set up for next season. What is almost certain though is that JM will play with his wide men. Hazard, Schurrle, Moses and if it happens, Bruma. Four wide men, which is how JM likes his squad. (Remember Joey, SWP, Duff and Robben).

Leaving Oscar, Mata, Van Ginkel and De Bryune for 2 positions. How can that be too much for a top team? The rest are Lamps, Ramires (who may be used as a make weight for Cavani)and Essien (who is all but out anyway) and Romeu (going on loand to Sevilla. If De Rossi joins, Mikel is out.

This is never too much. Without adding a potential Bruma, it's only 22 outfield players. This is with the addition of Essien and Lukaku. That some will ask for playing time is nothing to be scared of. It's testament to the quality in depth. Something we've not had in over 4 seasons.

I like the links to Armindo Tué Na Bangna. I believe this guy could be one of the next best things. In fact, I think he should have been pursued instead of Schurrle - despite being 4 years younger. Two explosive and skillful players in Hazard and Bruma will terrify any defence.

That said, I am thinking that in time if Chelsea's game is about power and pace, JM will attempt to convert Hazard to his no 10 and drop Mata. Then play with a Bruma-like player and Schurrle on the flanks.

If about possession though (which I highly doubt), then Mata will remain 10. My thinking.

Ramires' surge and pace are great attributes. It's the intelligence in his play that's lacking. This causes him to make the wrong decisions more often than not. Mistakes and JM don't live in the same room.

That said, perhaps JM could find a new role for him. However with the talent on board and the number rumoured to be coming in, I don't see Ramires being a Chelsea player for much longer. I hope I am wrong though because he is very useful.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 11:12am On Jun 17, 2013
If rumours are to be believed, the guy who comes into that midfield role is Nemanja Matic. Yes, the Matic who was a Chelsea player that we used as a make weight in the Luiz deal.

I have always been a massive fan of his having seen him play live at a youth game. He is tall, strong, combative, he wins aerial duels, is incredibly comfortable on the ball, is pacey and has got good vision. Plus he can score goals. Still can't believe we let him go.

Anyways, it looks like we might be buying him back. The Chelsea way!

-----------------------------------

Meanwhile, Romeu I hear is going on loan to Celta Vigo. Ramires will not be a JM player unfortunately. It's downhill and out from here on. I want to see what David with positional discipline can become. I truly believe JM can make him see football in a different light.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 9:04am On Jun 14, 2013
I don't believe Chelsea will use Thibault - one of europe's high rated young goalies - as a make weight for Cavani. There's been a lot more common sense applied in our transfer policy in the last 3 years.

I am excited about the Van Ginkel links but this Schurrle dude leaves a lot to be desired. Like I said a few weeks back, I put him in the class of Kalou and Moses. I am just happy that common sense prevailed and KDB was kept. The initial talks of KDB/Andre swap (loan or otherwise) was seriously mental.

Perhaps Jose can discover new things about him.

----------------------------------

I think it's safe to conclude that signings are being made that are perhaps approved but not JM initiated.
