It is not in our favour that the match is postponed. If Arsenal win their match and then go ahead to play the game in hand against Bolton and win before ours is re-scheduled. They will go 2 point ahead.

That's a psychological advantage. It's in our interest that we play this match and win it before they play theirs against Bolton. Crank up the pressure on them as they have an avalanche of high profile games lining up. .

He can play on both sides of the forward line of a 4-3-3 and on top of the diamond.

It was definitely 4-3-3 with attacking fullbacks ala Barcelona.

I really am not trying to deny it. . I just did not see the striking resemblance to the JM 4-3-3 if you know what I mean. so many many people are even thinking we played a 4-3-2-1 . . christmas tree.

I dont know what you're saying about Borini being preferrable to Studge at this moment. Borini got more movement, but Studge's first touch is the best first touch in the whole Chelsea squad!!!
That is a big lie!. . . No single player in Chelsea has a better first touch than Mikel.

However that's not the point. Nowdon't get me wrong, I am a very big fan of Danny and I really really hope he becomes a super player someday. . However I have seen Borini and Danny play together in a diamond in the reserves. . . as a matter of fact they are the first choices for attack in reserves. Borini is a class. Honestly! Borini has got better goal scoring abilities and has got a better touch and vision. His down side is that he is not imposing. If Borini is given the chances Danny has had, he could do well.

Now don't get me wrong. . everything you have said about Danny is true and he is def a very good footballer particularly remembering his through pass to find Anelka in the pre season game but take it Borini could do better. One more thing. . . Kakuta's through passes shit on Danny any day!

I know cos Im left-footed like Studge and my first touch is also exquisite like his!!! Tongue Tongue Tongue Grin
You wish. grin grin grin

Zhirkov also killed it in central midfield.
True talk. . Boy can play in the midfield with Lampard in a 4-3-3.

Matic does not have the stamina to compete with Belletti at DM. Whilst Matic is extremely neat on the ball, his stamina and speed leave a lot to be desired. He needs another 2 years playing in England to grow into an effective central midfielder.
Matic is not slow. He is very tall (tallest player in the team after Cech at 6' 4"wink and he takes longer strides. Counting his strides may give a false impression of his speed but if you watch how much ground he covers, he is quite quick for his height. I do not accept as well that 20 mins of appearance is enough to conclude his stamina is inferior to Belletti's of all people. This fella is 6' 4" and 82 kg for pete's sake (although not an indication of stamina) you can't claim knock this dude off the ball like you will to belletti. . He's 10KG heavier than Belletti. He doesn't need 2 years to be effective (though he'll be learning through-out his career)

Anyway if we are having this discussion, it means we have young ones that are perhaps up to speed. We are all on the same side anyway. I hope for better times.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans Thread : Winners of the FA Cup And League Winners 09/10 by nateevs(m): 12:08pm On Jan 04, 2010
I watched a replay of the 90mins at 12am on Chelsea TV and we definitely did not play a diamond. I struggle to call it a 4-3-3 as well. . but all indications point to a 4-3-3.

We line up like

-----------------------Hilario--------------------

-Ivanovic--------Alex-------Terry-------Cole-

--------------Belletti-----------

----------Lampard-- ---Zhirkov---------

----Joe--- -----Malouda----

----Danny---

For many time during the game it really passed for a 4-3-3. I actually really liked the innovation on the left channel. It was non stop attack from three left-footed attack-minded players.

What amazed me though was that Malouda and Joe were not playing form the far wide areas. They were working the inside channels and that allowed Zhirkov and Ashley Cole space on the left. . Lampard could not provide the same on the right - only Ivanovic did.

This was hardly a test for Chelsea. . Watford did not have their first shot on goal until the 52nd minute when a watford player connected an in-Player form a corner kick and it went safely into the hands of Hilario. Infact before and after that, Hilario never made a single save.

Belletti, Joe, Danny and Malouda all were not comfortable on the ball even in a traditional 4-3-3. They were far too clumsy for my liking. They needed a million touches to make things happen. Except for Danny who could be excused for being 21, we need to begin to think about replacing the other fellas. We could have scored 13 goals. I counted them all. Danny could have scored 5 for himself yesterday although I must commend the way he took the second goal.

I honestly prefer, by a long mile, Borini to Danny. It's taken me sometime to reach this conclusion but I definitely have. Boy has Borini got mad technique. He is a class above Danny to be honest. His touch, vision and intelligence on and off the ball just reminds you of a certain word. . . "Italian". I really will like to see him get a start say against Preston in the 4th round.

Kakuta is the best multi-dimensional and skilful player we have . . end of. . and Belletti should never be allowed to start in front of Matic. . not in the DM position. If we played a better team, we'll be in trouble.

Ivanovic is the player of the year. . and Zhirkov is the most cheated player we got. . He deserves a PL debut on the attack.

Hull is up next and Anelka should be fit. We have to be 2 points ahead at least by the time our boys return form the ACN.

We're not talking about who's the better player here, we're talking about creativity.
Fab4 is the most creative player in the EPL.
Forget trophies, his understanding of the games is compared to none.

Come on, Fab4 has a hand in most of Arsenal's goals this season and before now??
That's what stats don't show you. . . creativity is more than assists and goals, Fabregas opens back fours with his passes.
Fab4 is the only reason a striker like Adebayor will score that many goals.

Stats don't show you how many penultimate passes he's made towards goals.
Stats don't show you how many of his passes that get wasted by Adebayor and Bendtner.
Stats don't show you how many of his passes have resulted in free kicks and penalties.

Creativity?? Come on . . . Fabregas is the best in the EPL.
I don't think anyone has argued against this . . Everyone agrees. .
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Cesc Fabregas And Frank Lampard by nateevs(m): 3:23pm On Jan 01, 2010
A. Comparing wilshere(CM) to wright(CF) is a million times dafter than comparing cesc(CM) to lamps(CM). when i said "not quite as daft" i was CLEARLY being sarcastic. Obviously i have over estimated your intelligence since it flew right over your head.
Why is comparing two players(cesc & lamps) who play similar roles daft? Cos cesc is more creative? Are u telling me we cant compare drogba to ibra cos ibra is technically superior? We cant compare torres to rvp cos rvp hits a better dead ball? DAFT MAN!!
You never read well. You never understand a word before you click the reply button. I never said comparing two players is daft. . I said comparing Cesc's creativity to Lamps is daft and mentioned over and over and over again that Lamps was never a flair player and the comparison is daft.

How did you miss this. . ? Now you are coming back to what I said earlier , Can you do urself a favour and re-read my posts. . . Ricthboy = daftboy. . . grin grin grin

B. I never said i was "leaning on lamps side". Which oracle in your village gave u this idea? While creating a thread asking who is more CREATIVE is daft(since the answer is crystal clear), comparing the two players(asking who is better) isnt cos they play similar positions. i.e who is more creative, rooney or drogba? = daft question. who is the better player, rooney or drogba? Reasonable question. DAFT MAN!!
Now this is where I slightly modified my argument. Lampard is at the end of his career; probably a year left of top flight football. . At the heights of Lamps career he would have been benching Fab's current form - So it will be unfair to compare Lamps and Fab as Fab is beginning to find his stride. .

It is daft to compare Fab and Ronaldinho and ask who is the better player even though they play the same position. . because now Fab is a better player? . . It is very daft. Both are not in the prime of their careers. Hence the daft comparison . . It's not reasonable. . and if you can't understand this no one can help you.

Let me spell it out. Comparing two players in the same position has to be done within the boundaries of sanity. You can't pluck out two footballers out of the blues all for the sake of comparison. You can't compare Fab with Scholes just because they play the same position. That's bordering on insanity.

C. Of course, THE AWARD IS NOTHING MORE THAN THE OPINION OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE. FACT!
how else could lampard be the second best player as at december 2005 ahead of etoo, henry, totti, shevchenko, etc? Sh.t, i'd think 12 times b4 picking lampard ahead of rosicky then. Cheesy
How can u say "u dont care" if they got it wrong with cannavaro and still use it as a yardstick for declaring lampard the 2nd best player on earth? If u think theyve got it wrong just once, u are an even bigger idi.ot than initially feared. How do u explain kaka & MESSI being voted ahead of RONALDO in 2007? Do u need more examples?
Now you are going round in circles. Should we then disregard it ? since it's nothing more than the opinion of a group of people. Opinions can be ignored, disregarded. Especially as you have now seen that they have made numerous mistakes, the awards that have ever been given are not more than the opinion of people.

You have to be insane to be suggesting that. The powers that be vote and we've come to know it that way. If Fab continues to stay in top form, he could be the world's No1 some day. Just like now, I will he is the world's best player. . not "The opinion of a group of people" just because I want to prove a point.

This argument has gone too far and blowing out of proportion. Let's stick to the argument. Is it right to comapre Fab and Lamps?. . .If yes, on what grounds?

i never said we should disregard anything. . . lampard was voted third and that is a FACT which cannot be disregarded. what i'm saying is the fact he was VOTED third by A GROUP OF PEOPLE doesnt actually mean he was ever the third best player in the world. simple. that was in response to your claim he was once the third best player in the world simply because he came third in an award. was Cannavaro ever the best player in the world? ANSWER THE QUESTION!
You never said disregard it but WTF do you mean by "the award is nothing more than the opinion of the majority of A GROUP OF PEOPLE". . if it should be regarded.

I bloody do not care if they got it wrong with Cannavaro, this people voted Weah, Figo, Romario, Baggio, Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Messi. and you are here ranting about one event . . Why don't you name another one in the past they got wrong . . You can't treat the "GROUP OF PEOPLE" with ignominy because of one single event. .

And my friend, based on past events - the number of world No1s they got right - Yes Lampard at the time was the 2nd best player in the world. Simple.

Correction. . Lamps was second best . . . Not third. Eto'o was 3rd.

and to a 5 star mo.ron like nateevs, this translates to 'Lampard coming third in the WFOTY award is a disgrace'? your understanding of written English is atrocious at best. i emboldened the part which is a disgrace since u have the IQ of a previously owned screw driver and cant figure it out yourself.
You said "Lamps is a decade older than Fab and the fact that their achievements are comparable is a disgrace". .
Let's break this down.

* FIFA World Player of the Year: 2nd place 2005
* Ballon d'Or (European Footballer of the Year): Silver Award 2005
* FWA Player of the Year: 2005
* UEFA Club Midfielder of the Year: 2007-08

* Premier League's player of the decade, according to official stats (2000-2009)

Scored 178 goals in entire club career.

These in summary are Lamps achievements over the past decade.

Now let's look back at what you said. . . "Lamps is a decade older than Fab and the fact that their achievements are comparable is a disgrace"

Are these achievements really comparable with Fab's? . . So if Lamps won 2nd best player and you think that is comparable with Fab's "won nothing yet awards" . . What exactly are you calling the disgrace?

Hey Daftie! . .
I know I need to explain it to you further.
Comparing Wilshere with the attackers is just as daft as comparing Fabregas with Lampard.

I said from the outset that Lamps has never been a creative midfielder. Not at Westham or thereafter.
He's never taken accolades from being creative. . and the hallmark of his career was never built on creativity. .

Lamps scores goals - the primary purpose of his midfield play not creating.

So I ask again what then is the point asking if Fab is more creative than Lamps? It is daft! . . Just like you fuelling it!

2ndly. .

Whether voted or not, Lamps was adjudged 3rd best player.  I don't care if you think otherwise. Some people will tell you Ronaldo is the best player but Messi was voted best . . so he is the best. Can you please explain the "Big Difference". ,

The trophy is in Lampard's home and you can't take it away. . whether you accept it or not and he did not get there by being ordinary, he got there by virtue of what he's done on the pitch. . . if you think that's a "disgrace" like you call it. . Then you need help.

Iniesta is the 4th best player in the world, he must be disgraceful as well.

Lampard is 31 and nearing the end of his career yet some people have the guts to put Lamps and Fab in the same room for comparison. How disrespectful!

Chelsea fans know I am not a big Lamps fan but please give respect to whom respect is due.

Lamps is English and Fab is Spaniard. . The English play effective football whilst the Spaniards play creative football. Lamps at his prime was the 3rd best footballer in the world and that was in the days when Dinho was the world best.

What has Fab achieved to merit comparing his creativity with Lamps?. .It's a meaningless thread. .

The main figures:

- Group turnover was down from £213.1m to £206.4m

- Turnover was generally flat. The small year-on-year reduction reflects the front-loaded nature of certain sponsorship revenues

- Loss for the financial year reduced from £65.7m to £44.4m

- Remainder of shareholder debt of £340m was capitalised

- Net capital expenditure reduced from £85.1m to £4.2m following the completion of major capital projects such as the training centre at Cobham

- Cash outflow reduced from £107.4m to £16.9m

These figures are worth discussing. To Debosky and Chac - when we entered a rigorous argument last year and I told you Chelsea's debt can be converted to equity. There proves it.

Wrt discussion, I will like to see what was reduced in cash outflow as that seems to me largely responsible for the reduction in net loss; which could also point to lack of transfer activity in the summer.

Overall it's nice to know that we only owe £44m.

This furthermore expresses Roman's commitment to the club and serves as a reminder that the club intends to be self sufficient by 2010. and could be the real reason Carllotti insists we are not making any transfers in January.

The plan may be to try to cope with the youngsters during the ACN and "hope" things go right. The bleeding of Kakuta, Borini, DS, Stoch, Bruma 5 young players into the first team will put a lid on the ever bloating wage bill. So the addition of transfer fees, agent fees, wages of the likes of Ribery, Aguero et al will prove self defeating to the non stop proclamation of self-sufficiency by 2010.

This way, assuming turnover is near constant, we can begin to talk about profits for the first time in a more years than I can remember.

It may be safe then to conclude that there will be no transfers in the January transfer window. Only of course if my postulations are completely wrong.

Well only second to the first team to field players who are barely learning to walk . . grin grin

Unbelievable!

So because people have built houses in the way of development we should let them be because of "Social cost" . .
A 70km drive from the borders of Nigeria (Badagry end) down to Mile 2 could take you 3 hours on a day you are very lucky. On the not so lucky days, those that have driven past can tell you. . I just came down the M1 a few minutes ago from Nottingham to London and an equivalent of the 70km drive in Nigeria took me only 45mins at national speed limit. I could do it 35mins if I drove at 90miles/hr and we are talking about social cost.

How about the social advantage of working in Cotonou and living in Mile 2 and being able to do a round trip in less than 2 hours. .?

How about the economic advantage of cross border trade amongst numerous others that can't be highlighted now?

How environmental advantages of reducing CO2 exhaust from traffic build up over 70km . . ?

The cost of bringing down houses is a small price to pay to pave way for a flurry of advantages most of which will benefit the common man whose front yard was brought down in the first place. Plus I read the LASG gave out financial compensation to the affected.

I don't understand either.
Seems RA and his crew have lost their minds.

I'm thinking. . .
Roman may be fed up with the club.
I don't think that's even close. Not wanting to spray money around like before is a different thing.
If he is fed up he won't fire Kenyon . .
I am only worried about his consistency in decision making.
Giving Deco, Belletti and Ballack a standing ovation and saying "Thanks for your time at the Bridge" is a no brainer for a self-made billionaire like Roman.

I think he loves the game so much - He idolizes the players that make it happen. That's perhaps the explanation. Otherwise nothing else can explain how he's quick to fire managers, and CEOs and the players get multi-million pound contracts for strolling around.
