I have made the Video. I call this VIDEO No.1. . . (DYNAMIPS: INSTALLATION AND BASIC APPLICATION) and it can be downloaded from here.

This is a video on how to start out using dynamips. It does not invole any explanation of complex stuff or cmore complex topologies. We will discuss here how to make bigger networks, what kind of machines to use, what variant of IOS to use and so on. I hope this benefits someone. Let's all get our Routers started and being Ciscoing. . . .

Let's build this place.
Computers › Re: CISCO Thread: CISCO Professionals Identify Yourselves by nateevs(op): 9:11pm On Feb 20, 2009
Finally I have picked myself up and got around doing this. What we are about to do here is big. . and I hope I can get a lot of input from fellow Cisco people.

I know some of us might have heard about and probably already use it. . . but for those who haven't, I want to use this opportunity to introduce to DYNAMIPS.

Dynamips, in simple English,  is a Cisco Router emulator. I know some people have heard about Boson Net Sim . . . dump it pls! Dynamips is the way to go. Dynamips, with its front end Dynagen, emulate a proper Cisco IOS router. In other words, if a router can do it, Dynamips can just about do it. I am not saying Dynamips can replace a real router, but Dynamips can make you more than familiar with everything routing in Cisco.

As at this writing, Dynamips can emulate a decent number of models in 1700s, 2600s, 3600s, 3700s and 7200s. Unfortunately at this time Dynamips cannot fully emulate Cisco switches, although there are a few things you can do.

You need to download the software (Dynamips can run on Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 and on Linux), install it, download a Cisco IOS from Cisco and you are good to go.

You can emulate most things a router can do depending on the IOS you are using. You can run as many Routers as you desire on a single PC. The number of Routers you can run will be dependent on the capacity of your PC. You can even bridge Dynamips to a live network. i.e. You can route packets from a live Router or Live Switch to the Virtual Routers on your PC.

Dynamips at this moment can also emulate a Cisco Pix Firewall using PEMU as the front end.

I cannot say all the details here. This is supposed to be a small intro to the emulator. You can read more about Dynagen and Dynamips here and here respectively.

You can also download Dynampis from here.

I am going to post a Video about how to Install it and get it running.

@Ibime,

That has some truth in it. Deco was sitting deep and he tried to use Q in the middle of the pack a bit ahead of Deco. Hiddink is at liberty to work with as many styles as possible. If it will work is another thing. Deco apart from having having the creativity to start an attack, I think, is too small to be a DM maybe I meant to say too weak.

Didi and Anelka played as an attacking pair. While Stoch and Kalou played wide positions interchangeably. . . Stoch was way ahead of Kalou in his displays as a natural wide man. Malouda showed some stuffs, scored a goal but he is not the one we need.

I will like to see Q and Stoch on the flanks. That will give any team in the PL problems with Didi and Anelka awaiting the slightest opportunity. My only objection to a 4-4-2 will be our midfielders. Lampard is not a conventional 4-4-2 midfielder, Ballack should retire now . . only a quicker Deco would have been suited to the role. . but I have never known Hiddink with a particular formation so I'm ready to see all sorts of patterns as the games come along.

Even while some of us complain sometimes that RA might be too hands on. . . seeing him frequently at the training ground only reassures us of love after a short spell of his "disinterest" only understood by the media.

I also like the news headlines in the Daily Mirror. . . . "Abramovic down to his last $12bn". . . Isn't that funny? . . . They make it sound like "Nateevs is down to his last N1000"

@Somze.

Who would have said you and I will agree on Chelsea Manager only 3 weeks . . ? Funny how things change. Di Santo must begin to get 30mins and 45mins every now and then. I see him in 1 or 2 years as player that combines the aerial presence of Drogba, the pace and touch of Anelka and the craft of Crespo. I really do hope we can begin to look in this direction. It's unfortunate that Kakuta is injured for the rest of the season just about the time he could finally get to play a few minutes with the senior team.

I really do hope Guus is here to stay. If he leaves in the summer, well then TSO back here!. . .Only don't know if the billionaire will swallow his pride.

I saw the video you posted, all I can say is the little way ahead of his time. I hope he grows up with no physical impediment to his game. He knows just what to do with a ball. @NiceSoul

I saw one of your posts talking about Dynamips. Do you not use it? The only thing Dynamips can't emulate is switching. I am going to begin a series on how to run Dynamips for those of us on this forum who want to feel what a router looks like. I will probably make a video and upload on Rapidshare or something. I am trying to make some time.

@Ibime.

The Session was cool. It ended up being more of an exhibition than tactical. I liked Guus' opening speech. Very welcoming. . .

I really must comment about Stoch. . . We must be really crazy if that boy's not holding down a shirt next season. He's the most mobile thing we have. I paid particular attention to Quaresma, he was very quiet. He didn't seem like bold to me. He seemed shy and ordinary. . although he got 2 goals for the reserves last night. and he played 90mins maybe he was tired.

DiSanto is one I will like to see Guus focus a lot more on. The way he ghosts behind defenders is reminiscent of Crespo. He got 2 goals last night as well and was very sharp in training this morning.

Guus had a few things to say to Mikel. . he spoke to him about 3 times. And even swapped him in an eleven-a-side game that looked like the reserves against the regulars.

I thought Essien would train. He didn't. Alex and Carvalho were absent as well. Ferreira played at left back - I think in anticipation of what might happen on the weekend. Ashley's suspended for the game.

Apart from those, it was a typical Chelsea training. Drogba, Nic and Lampard looked lively. Ballack is old and must retire now. Everyone one else was cool.

I just wanted to see Guus outside TV.

@FBS. .

You are childish when it comes to arguing a point. . . . why has my talking about being at Vicarage road irate you so much? . . . I can't be there? I can't afford to be there or I don't know the way to the place. . ?

@Nateevs, oh, you were at Vicarage road and I assume you were sitting close to RA to see his reactions? anyways, you said IF, meaning its very possible that you did not even see the game.
(including those who claim they saw the match at Vicarage road Wink Grin  will agree to
These are childish statements. . . . You want me to come here and put pictures or tell the whole world how may matches I have seen Chelsea live or how many times I have been to the bridge. . Get off this and tackle the points. . .
I have the match recorded on my Sky+ and I have watched it over and over again and I fail to see what you mean by RA clapping when Drogba takes a shot and only acknowledging when Anelka does the same. . what kind of talk is that. . ? If RA clapped when Drog took a shot . . fine! . . . but not to be used a contrasting point to only nodding when anelka does the same. . . You alarm me man!

Did the camera show RA everytime a Chelsea player takes a shot? Are you saying you saw a simultaneous view of an Anelka shot and an RA reaction ? Imagine what goes on here! . . . . from your assertion we can conclude that RA did not celebrate the goals because they were scored by Anelka. . . Just listen to this. . .

And you don't need to attack to prove a point! . . . Like Ibime said . . we are waiting for an alibi. . . Only both of you think Drogba has a first good touch. . . Being objective is not saying Drogba is no longer the Drogba we knew. . anyone can say that. Being objective is not saying I idolize Anelka and LFS when I constantly talk about their weaknesses on here. . .

No one is saying Drogba is not a good player but he has a bad first touch. . . Simple!

@FBS.

It's bloody fallacy. . . I repeat. You don't even know if I was at Vicarage road to watch the game. . . You conclude I didn't watch it. Unless you were at the game you can't convince me RA reacted more to DD endeavours than Anelka's . . . expect you are watching a split screen with one camera focused on Nic and Drog and the other focused on RA. . . What kind of talk is that. . . ?

You are not objective at all. . . .

And to prove that you are not objective. . . . My previous posts higlights that Anelka is not my favourite striker and I gave you reasons why? I dare say what Anelka can't do? . . How do you liken that to idolization? . . because I said Anelka is not good in the air? . . That is idolzation? . . . Pls tell me where it is.

You think I worshiped LFS. . . pls go through my posts and figure out how many times I repeated that so far LFS has failed but I believe he should be given more time. . . Incase you don't know I idolize stability . . not LFS! . . . and those who have known me for a while know my favourite Manager of all times is Guus. . . I also reiterated many times on here that LFS is not in my top 10 managers . . . So tell me where idolization comes in!

The problem is not me worship but your lack of objectivity. . . .

@Ibime

Anytime DD is close to scoring, RA is almost on his feet, but when Nic scores, he only gives his boyish grins.
Fallacy of the first order. . . . So according to you Roman likes DD and only acknowledges Anelka! . . . . . God help us!

Who says Drogba is not fantastic player. . . That Berbatov can be annoyingly creepy sometimes doesn't mean he is not fantastic. Anybody who watched football for a considerable amount of time must never Drogba has a good first touch. I can't even believe someone will dare argue this.

His first touch is poor. Where Drogba seems to do great things is when the ball in in the air. . . and everyone who has ever played football knows it's much easier putting the ball on your chest or your thighs . . . Drogba's sheer presence makes the whole thing look more than ordinary. . . when the ball rolls towards him, it pathetic what he can do. . . very painful to watch sometimes.

Stop all these sentiments guys and face the facts. Drogba can score goals when he's in the mood. . . no one argues that. . but to say he's fantastic because he has a good touch is absolute bollocks!

It's really nice to see this place pick up like this. Only 9 days ago we decided to get the ball rolling and the response so far has been great. . . . someone's already got a router. Isn't that great ?

@Stevetokyo.
Thanks for visiting the site. We will really appreciate anything you can bring to us.

@Djcn.

I can't call any routing protocol the best. It depends on what network the protocol is supporting.

- RIP will suffice for small networks. . but you can't use VLSM and CIDR with RIP. . . RIPv2 however solves the problem with VLSMs. . but you still can't go beyond 15 hops (routers). . .

- EIGRP is Cisco proprietary. .i.e won't work with non-cisco gear. Easy to configure. . very good protocol when running with only cisco. However, it's still a distance vector routing protocol. . though some agree it's part link-state and part distance-vector.

- OSPF is full link-state. . i.e OSPF know about the every router in an OSPF domain. It takes the best path to remote networks and puts it in the routing table. OSPF is very tunable. OSPF works with areas, which allows network problems to be confined to an area thereby making troubleshooting easier. OSPF increases network performance. . However OSPF is very processor intensive. . because it runs an algorithm called the SPF used to calculating distances to remote networks. . because it is fully link-state, it recalculates the SPF every time a new router is connected to or disconnected from an OSPF domain. Although there are ways to tune the frequency of calculation. . . it still does not negate the cost of processor overhead.

- ISIS is the network provider's choice of routing protocol. It is very tunable. You normally will not use ISIS for your internal corporate routing protocol. . . .

- BGP is the routing protocol of the internet. As we speak, the total number of routes on the internet is in excess of 100,000 . . . . BGP is the only protocol that can support that many routes. . others will blow up. BGP is and EGP, a distance vector protocol . . some call it a path vector protocol. It is by far the most tunable routing protocol. BGP runs on top of TCP. OPSF and EIGRP are their own layer 4 protocol. BGP supports multi-homing for corporate networks.
However BGP is very slow to converge. . and very memory intensive.

You can see this doesn't tell you which is best. It only points out that your choice of routing protocol is going to be dependent on the size, design and what implementations you are running.
I hope that made sense.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here by nateevs(m): 11:43am On Feb 16, 2009
@FBS.

I don't think it's much about hate rather it's worship. . . . Isn't it so funny some of us are the only fans that complain about a player that scores 20goals? with 3months to go . . . . just becos he scored them against small teams. . then you look across and say the other one is faultless when it's so obvious to see he lacks basic technique.

Anelka is not my favourite striker. I wish he had more power and can score a lot with his head. . it will make a 4-4-2 more meaningful with crosses flying in. . but our friend Somze thinks we adore Anelka, even when we have reiterated every now and then that he's not the perfect but he does what he's supposed to do. . . score goals.

One the other hand he fails to admit Drogba is faultless. It's ridiculous. You can never find Somze say anything negative about Lampard or Drogba . . . they can never do wrong. . and when they do, it's someone else's fault.

I can't understand it.

@Moonracker

You guys are going bananas over there! Zerabytes speed is off the hinges. Hook us up on anything new. Thanks.

@Toya.

Sorry about not having a real router. However, as the thread progresses, we will be looking at alternatives to that.

@Djcn.

I actually thought of what you said but felt it might end up being out of control. Cisco is fairly too large to be contained under one thread. . making it General Networking will mean opening up to Microsoft, Juniper, Novell and so on. I think it will make data more accessible when only Cisco-related stuff is on one the thread. I wish well in all you do. . . If you however decide to come to us, you are most welcome.

@Dis-guy.

I think the reason for those issues is that many in-depth stuff is not of public knowledge in Nigeria. One of the issues this thread intends to try to address is "Is this what I want to do"?.
The stuff you see on here will either scare you away or excite you. When you decide, then you know where you belong.

The issue of only certs in Naija will soon become a thing of the past. When the economy opens up or perhaps when Globacom complete their Fibre back bone, it will present the opportunity to  companies to inter-network their sites through an ISP. The internet will become truly public and cheap. Network Professional will become sought after like precious stones.
However, the ills will come with it. Fraud, soiling and Network Intrusion. That is where true Network Professionals will be separated from those that only chase certs. At that stage it will really become about what you know rather than what you have.
While what you have will be a massive pre-consideration for what is to be done, there'll be more emphasis on thorough interviews from the point of view of a bank that just lost 2million debit card records becos their network was compromised.

I believe we are slowly getting there. . . and we surely will take the world by storm. . . but we need to be ready and that's what this thread is about.

If however the talk of Ballack, Drogba and Cech going to report LFS to Roman is true, we have a major problem on our hands. Also we must not forget the criticism of Lampard and Terry of LFS's tactics.
