I would have taken the 10% because its a form of diversification though, considering that the NBA contract would pay me some money too.

This is what you get when a clown is elected as a governor. Governance would be reduced to a huge comic display.

Its not even funny any longer, its becoming a huge show of shame to say the least. The man keeps on acting like he's a local government chairman. When man is bereft of ideas, he resorts to irrelevant shenanigans. What happened to the age of innovations like unveiling a blueprint for the development of Ekiti state in terms of encouraging foreign multinational coys to set up shop in the state.

I've not heard Buhari complain, like Jonathan did, that there are cabals who are a cog in the wheel; why complain for him?

Thanks for this. That's exactly what I tried to point out earlier considering the fact that Buhari himself was a military strategist, who knows the art of war and understands the intricacies of governance, owing in part to his earlier sojourn in government which ended in him being ousted in a coup. He wouldn't make the same mistake by being too naive

TonyeBarcanista:

Are you addressing the content of the article or you are talking about something else?

My submission is based on the article.

You alluded to the fact that:
None of his promise to Nigerians has been fulfilled even after SIX months in office. Again Nigerians are wondering whether they made mistake on March 28. Though a huge disappintment, Buhari still has the luxury of three and half years to put things right.

Hence my initial response.

The key players in this write up referred to in this case as the "Cabals" are unfortunately a necessary evil that we might have to live with until our institutions are weaned totally of partisanship and corruption. Because how else do you explain the show of shame currently going on in the case of the senate president at the CCT.

Most of these people have their hands deep in corruption and can bring the country to a halt if not carefully handled. This has often been attributed to Sun Tzu and sometimes to Niccolò Machiavelli or Petrarch, but there are no published sources yet found which predate its use by "Michael Corleone"
- keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

The FG has been in the control of these people since time immemorial, and anybody irrespective of party affiliations who wants to make an appreciable impact in governance at the federal level needs to keep them close, to have any form of control over them.

Take the key players in the APC for example, most of them have not had a total access to the FG controlled institutions, because they've always been in opposition. The implication of this is that, it is near impossible to cut ties with these powerful individuals without applying tact. This also meant that they (the APC) lack the wherewithal to deal with some key issues at the federal level, all thanks to the partisanship of our security institutions. It just like marmite "you either learn to love it or learn to hate it".

Not true....

As much it feels like things are not moving in the right direction with respect to the Nigerian/Buhari Project, 6 months is too early to conclude on the direction of the present administration. Consider the fact that the previous government's policies needed to be reviewed, as well as the previous contracts which were awarded to people with vested interests.

May I remind you that the GEJ led government justified his election on the premise that he needed a second term to make considerable progress, despite the fact that he had approximately 6 years. The current administration has not asked for two terms, neither have they resigned to fate in the delivery of governance, we are only making baseless speculations with an undertone of biased allegiance, which when closely observed smacks of a deliberate attempt to malign the FG without recourse to fairness.

There's a reason why the word "mid-term" is coined in first place, why don't we wait until mid-term before making conclusions, rather than jumping the gun after six months. even if the aim is to hound the government into submission, 6 months is too early to build a fool-proof case against the Buhari led federal government, and by acting this way could be counterproductive for the opposition. Because, they would have shown their cards too early in the game. The same schoolboy error made by Gov Wike's camp in the Rivers state case, where he was basing the acceptability of his elections on that of the state legislators, which was consequently checkmated through the nullification of their elections too.

NEWS NUGGET- If this is Buhari's result, then buhari and his handlers are crooks. This statement of Result was hurriedly put together and made to look old.
1. Instead of Muhammadu they wrote Mohammed.
2. Instead of Northern region they put Katsina State. Katsina State was apparently created in 1987.
3. There are discrepancies in the subjects buhari submitted to the Army and the ones in this hurriedly put together statement of Result.
4. This obviously fake statement of Result carries a passport! Then, passports were not attached to WASC. Even mine didn't have a passport, and it was just 1994 here!
5. On this released result, they wrote SSCE/WASCE. Then there was no SSCE!
6. Hausa was not offered as a subject at that time.
7. When did it become the Ministry Of Education that issues certified true copy? What happened to the school and WAEC?
Why will the man of God Pastor Osinbajo be caught in this ungodly act? Poor him he looked so uncomfortable during the press conference. God save Nigeria.

Well it depends on the end user and how technology savvy the person is. Before I go further, I will base my premise on the following analogy, to safely arrive at a logical standpoint on which is better.

If Samsung s4 is rated as the best android device, then permit me to base some of my points on the android platform

inbuilt app:

SGS4 screen mirroring
My phone is connected to unlimited 3g network on Three, as a result of which I watch most of my videos on my Phone. with the screen mirroring, I can initiate the video playing on my mobile device and watch it on my Samsung LED TV. With apple, you will need apple tv connected to your TV, and that in itself is unreliable and requires some funny connection cables.

SGS4 smart pause
Video playback pauses when i look away from the screen and resumes when I look at the screen. Iphone?......... lipsrsealed

Android apps on SGS4
1. Ceberus
With ceberus the posibility is endless in tracking your missing device. Let me point out a few:
- Get the phone call records and messages when the thief tries to use your phone.
- get the thief's phone number on sim change
- automatic picture capture on wrong unlock code, and sent to your email
- hidden conversation recorder in the background without the thief knowing that you are listening in to their conversations
- Remote control via text messages
- SIM Checker (for devices that have a SIM card): you will automatically receive alerts if someone uses your phone with an unauthorized SIM card

Remote control allows you to perform many operations on your device, like:
- Locate and track it
- Start a loud alarm, even if the device is set to silent mode
- Wipe the internal memory and the SD card
- Hide Cerberus from the app drawer
- Lock the device with a code
- Record audio from the microphone
- Get a list of last calls sent and received
- Get information about network and operator the device is connected to
- And much more!

The good thing is this, you don't need another phone to control all the functions, simply go online and login with your username and password and you are okay.

2. Tasker
Schedule different tasks on your phone based on different parameters. These are some of the setting on my SGS4

- low battery below 30%, switch phone to single core out of the four cores (this saves battery), and switch from 3g to 2g
- I use a bluetooth watch (pebbles) synced with my phone for stealth notifications when I'm at the office.
At 9:30 am
+ switch on my bluetooth and start the pebbles app to connect the watch
+ adjust screen brightness to 10% and set sound profile to silent
at 2 pm (lunch time)
+ switch the profile to normal so that I can pick calls
at 2:30 pm
+switch back to silent profile
at 5pm
+ switch off bluetooth, close pebbles app
+ switch on 3g connection if battery is above 65% otherwise, stay in 2g mode
+ read out all my personal email with S-voice while I'm in the car

The app is set to note the three network mast close to my house, with the mast network number and stored because of the function below
on noticing that I am around the mast do the following:

+ switch on my wifi and connect to my home internet
+ if wifi connection is not successful, switch on 3g

those are some of the settings i've got.

There are people who use it to:

+ open the car garage door
+ set home alarm
+ switch on the heating system at home
+ switch on the kettle in the morning before going to work

Iphone cant do any of these, and the good thing is that the setting is done once and I don't bother myself with making this adjustments while on the move.

NB: I use a MB pro laptop, an ipad mini and had an iphone 4s before switching to sammy. I'm speaking from personal experience with the device

Can a hamster drive a 15-tonne truck around a dangerous quarry? Well, Volvo wanted to find out

To highlight the new Volvo FMX and the simplicity of its steering system (that it’s so easy to handle you can steer it with your fingertips, according to the YouTube description), little Charlie the Hamster was put into a cage screwed into the steering wheel and tempted to run in the direction the truck needed to be steered in by a carrot. Did the stunt, filmed at the Los Tres Cunados quarry in northwestern Spain, succeed?

I don't understand what people want. Zubby has clearly stated that this is a true life story and it happened in the past. The pressure we are putting on him might make him edit out some juicy details from the remaining part of the story. One thing I would advice us the readers to do is to maintain a neutral stance, not judging him for his actions. I know we might have high expectations of Zubby but we should remember that we are human and not perfect, some of us have made decisions in the past that are worse than Zubby but we are in no position to judge someone for being truthful in sharing their life experiences.

Politics / Re: The Ifes And Modakekes!! by nawti(m): 10:01am On Sep 06, 2013
@olorisa thanks for the feedback on the Ayikiti mystery, hopefully we will get some other information as it unfold.

I think I might agree to some extent with what @sangresan said about some Kings, my take on it is that some shameful experience would normally not be stated by a King, while its also possible for Kings not to be as informed as some of their subjects. A king would only know what he's been told and history has taught us that most Kings and rulers are most time surrounded by praise singers who would not tell them the truth in situation. The same thing is being played out in the present day political arena where the sitting president / governor would not know about the true state of things based on the people surrounding them.

Apart from all these, some royals are pampered through childhood and wouldn't be bothered to learn about history. Learning takes a committed input from the two parties involved; the teacher on one side and the enthusiastic learner on the other. Another possible reason is the fact that in the Yoruba kingdom, kings are generally picked from groups of families, and except there a school set up for all the children in the royal family, I don't see the probability that all the necessary information about the history of a group of people, would have been taught to all the young royals. These factors could not rule out the possibility that the eventual king would not to know the true events of things when he eventually ascend the throne.

On the issue of Ayikiti , there is possibility that a King at a particular time might have issued an edict to erase every trace of his name from our history. Owing to the fact that he was a tyrant as a king and he wasn't the legitimate King as he was forced on our people by the Oyos. The way forward I feel should be examining the history of King ORARIGBA, because while looking at the list of kings, he ascended the throne at the same period as Ayikiti in the narrative. What we should find out is:

1. Was he forced on the people as stated by the Author?
2. Was he a warrior king?
3. Was he a tyrant

i think by getting these information, we would be able to point out if he was the same as Ayikiti and the name was just a wrong name

Thanks olorisa and sangresan, great job so far.

sangresan: Nawt,it is better for you to research very well before dumping shit on Nairaland...The whole gist you have been vomiting here is pure mischief...Rev Johnson was an Oyo prince who wrote from Oyo perspective and was never objective...Professional Yoruba historians have found reason to vehemently disagree with Johnson....The first rebuttal to his half-truths was published as far back as 1904 by H. Atundaolu titled,'The History of the Ijesas and other Hinterland Tribes'...Even Johnson's book wasnt yet officially launched by that time...If you really want to educate the people about the history of ethnic relations between the Ifes and the Modakekes, you will do well to consider what numerous scholars have to say...Dont depend on Johnson alone...Johnson stayed in Oyo Alaafin and was told the whole stories by Oyo and Ibadan chiefs...What kind of an intellectual will accept that? Can an Arab be permitted to write Jewish history?...Consider the works of the Yoruba Historical Society(defunct)led by Prof Saburi Biobaku..Read from Prof Banji Akintoye,J F Ade-Ajayi,Akinjogbin, J D Abiola and other greats....To show you how wrong you can be,Ajaka was an Oyo king right but Owa Ajaka isnt the founder of Ilesa...Owa Ajaka(though a warrior king) is different from Owa Ajibogun...This is one of the lies propagated by Johnson as told him by Oyo Griots....I rest my case for now....I do like what I am reading because it can serve as an avenue to enhance brotherhood...What I wont take is a casual fixation with a particular narrative about Yoruba History....There are countless historical records in the National Archive and the Uni of Ib Archive to dispel such rumours...Cheers.

Thanks for the clarifications on some grey areas of the narratives by Rev Johnson, however I would like to point out that the major bane of the history of the Yorubas is the absence of detailed record keeping which leaves much powers to the multiple Authors, with each one of them making assumptions and conclusions based on what they are told by their different sources. I have always heard about Owa Ajibogun, but his records were conspicuously missing from narrative. While we should not take anything away from information as recorded by Rev Johnson, I still believe the information depicts true events as confirmed by other sources that I have personally consulted. Each narrative irrespective of the author would lean to the sentiments of the author, a notable example is the narrative on the Biafran war by Chinua Achebe, which to some extent blamed the war on the Yorubas while exonerating the Igbos. A more complete record would be one written by a body of scholars authorized by the different Kingdoms in the yoruba empires, whose King will certify the authenticity of the information contained therein.

I believe sharing some of these records with regards to how it relates to the Ife would very much help us that would not have an easy access to such archives based on our location.

Looking forward to your response. Thanks

This write up still did not state Owa at any time waged war against Ile-Ife.
And I might have misconstrued what the bolded part means but is it saying there was founder of Oyo and Benin (Oloyo and Ado) were Oduduwa's offspring and different people? What happened to Oranmiyan? Oduduwa grandkids never included Oba of Benin or Alado, let's be guided.

I just re-read the questions you posed.
The Oloyo was the real son, while Ajaka was a grandson, what I understand is that Ajaka fought everyone close to him as the story of the captured crown of Igbajo was verified which was why the Kings in Igbajo don't wear crowns. I don't know if they do wear it now.

P.S How is the research about Ayikiti coming up?
Politics / Re: The Ifes And Modakekes!! by nawti(m): 10:18pm On Sep 03, 2013
olorisa:

Are you saying the Ajaka in your post is the same Ajaka you referred to as Owa Ajibogun the founder of Ijesa? From your excerpt, this Ajaka refers to an Oyo prince an on Oyo throne not Ile-Ife.
The question is the 'oloyo' and 'Alado' - see your previous post below:

Was in transit earlier...

The Ajaka that was a prince was the original Ajaka. The second one who went to look for cure had another name but was nicknamed Ajaka because of his personalty.

I have no reason to doubt the existence of the two people, because the latter Ajaka who founded Ilesha was a warrior King that fought his people out of anger. We all know that the indegenes would not include some bad details about a progenitor of a group of people, there are even situations where they are given god-like status and are worshipped. The historian on the other hand would include everything, whether good or bad especially when they have nothing to lose.
