Abike Dabiri, a Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has been accused of playing tribe by not mentioning names of fraudsters arrested in the US. Recall that few weeks ago, the Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, came under heavy criticism after being accused of releasing the names of five Nigerians arrested for alleged robbery in Dubai, UAE, with the intention of stereotyping an ethnic group. 

In the statement, Dabiri-Erewa described the alleged action of the suspects as “despicable and shameful,” as she lamented that the suspects went to a foreign land to disgrace the country. She had earlier said in a tweet: “We need to tell our brothers behaving badly to behave. Let’s get the names of those involved to name and shame them.”

However after it was learnt that nine Nigerians arrested for allegedly defrauding individuals and businesses of more than $3.5 million in the US were from the Yoruba tribe, it has led to a tribes war. Abike Dabiri was accused of playing tribe by not mentioning names of fraudsters arrested in US. Femi Falana who spoke yesterday in Lagos during a public lecture on the 30th anniversary of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), stated that President Buhari obeyed Court orders as a military leader, but failed to do so in democracy Femi Falana, a human rights activist who wondered why President Buhari obeyed court orders as a military leader from December 31, 1983 to August 27, 1985 but failed to do so in a democracy, said he would write to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), to find out why.

The lawyer who revealed he was worried about how court orders were being disobeyed by the Federal Government, said; 


“I just remember this morning trying to write a letter to the Attorney-General of the Federation and I find, very painfully, that whereas the Buhari/Idiagbon regime complied with all court orders for the release of those who were held illegally under the state security detention of persons Decree No 2 of 1984, we cannot say the same today under a democratic government.

“If you get a copy of Gani Fawehinmi’s book on Nigerian law on habeas corpus, all the judgments of our courts during the military dictatorship of Gowon up to the Buhari/Idiagbon regime, all the cases are documented in that book; not on a single occasion did the military regimes detain anybody who had been ordered to be released by the court. They could manipulate; they could filibuster, but ultimately they got everybody released.”

A teenager who stole a 3-year-old boy after punching his mother, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command. The 19-year-old boy, Chisom Obiora, who allegedly punched the boy's mother identified as Mrs. Rofiat Ayinde in the face in order to abduct her three-year-old son at the Satellite Town area of Lagos State, was arrested by the police on April 12, she reported the matter to the police at Satellite Police Station. She had reported that her son, Al-ameen Ayinde, had been abducted by a stranger.


It was gathered that the incident occurred at No. 10, Baale Street. However the teenager who stole a 3-year-old boy after punching his mother in the face, denied the allegation that he stole the boy. According to him, he picked the boy to show him direction to the location he was seeking. He further claimed that he didn’t know the exact place he was going, and decided to ask the three-year-old boy. 


The distraught mother's shout after the abduction, attracted a nearby police patrol team from Satellite Division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). The police immediately arrested the suspect and rescued the child. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana,  who confirmed the incident, said the case of the stolen child was reported at Satellite Police Station.

Peter Okoye who reacted to allegations by Diamond Platnumz that he slept with his ex-wife Zari, has stated the Tanzanian singer was stupid with the claim.Recall that Platnumz who spoke during an interview on Tuesday on his Wasafi Radio, said;  “Zari was dating P-Square’s Peter a few months before she and I got our first baby, Latiffah Dangote. I read messages that she and Peter sent each other via mobile phone. I even confronted her.” 

However Peter Okoye who stated that Diamond Platnumz was stupid to say that he slept with his ex-wife Zari in an interview at Cool FM, added that he doesn't want to get distracted.

He said;“To be honest with you, I do not know what they are talking about. I can never, and would never say anything. Please, I have a new single, and I do not want to get distracted. Former President Ahmed Touré's son, Mohamed Touré has been jailed alongside his wife Denise Cros-Touré, for enslaving a girl for 16 years at their home in Texas, USA.The couple who were also ordered to pay $288,620.24 in restitution by U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor, were found guilty of bringing a young girl by the name Djena Diallo from Guinea and forcing her to work for them without pay in early 2000.Former President Ahmed Touré's son and his wife were jailed for 7 years, for enslaving the girl who they brought when she was 5 for 16 years at their home in Texas, USA. 

Following his conviction, Mr Touré who is the son of Guinea's first president, Ahmed Sékou Touré, may lose his US immigration status, the US Department of Justice said. The couple will be deported to Guinea after they are released from prison. It was learnt that the girl denied access to school with her passport confiscated, was forced to clean, cook and take care of the couple's children for 16 years.

During that time she was repeatedly hit, had her head shaved and forced to sleep alone in a nearby park as punishment, according to a statement from the US Department of Justice. In August 2016, the girl is said to have escaped from the couple's house in Southlake "with the help of several former neighbours", the justice department said.

Nigeria's senate has confirmed MKO Abiola’s daughter, Omolola Abiola-Edewor as Executive Director of Corporate Services, Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).The senate confirmed MKO Abiola’s daughter as NDIC director for a second and final term of five years. The confirmation of the first daughter of the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola who is also a former member of the House of Representatives, came after President Buhari wrote the Senate on April 3, seeking her confirmation and renewal of appointment. 

Chairman of Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Rafiu Ibrahim, who stated that the nominee possesses character, competence, and the knowledge to do the job, recommended that Ms Abiola-Edewor be confirmed.The Senate, thereafter, resolved into the Committee of the Whole and unanimously confirmed Ms Abiola-Edewor’s reappointment for a second and final term of five years.

The prison inmate who gave birth to twins in Calabar is reportedly dead, few days after the Cross River State Government took responsibility of her set of twins. The  Afokang prison inmate who had received gift items, plus one million Naira (N1,000,000) from the Cross River State Government died on Friday, 19th of April, 2019. ASP Effanga Etim, Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Prisons Service, Cross Rivers State command, who confirmed that that the prison inmate who gave birth to twins is reportedly dead, said she died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Calabar due to complications arising from her child labour.

“The Nigerian Prisons Service, Cross River state command, is pained over the loss of the said inmate after a combined effort by the Prisons authority, the Cross River state government and medical personnel in the General Hospital, Calabar. I assure the public that the health and welfare of prisoners remain its top priority" he said.

A HIV-positive teacher who tried to hire a hitman to kill a 10-year-old student he allegedly molested, has been slammed with another charge.It was gathered that before he allegedly tried to hire the hitman, the St. Louis teacher was awaiting trial on accusations he molested a student. 36-year-old Deonte Taylor was accused of putting his penis in the then 7-year-old student’s mouth when he worked as a teacher’s assistant at Lusher Elementary in 2015.

Deonte who went on to secure other jobs as the case was not filed, was arrested in November 2018 after the case was reopened three years later.  He was arrested after his DNA matched samples found on his former student’s underwear and body. Taylor was hit with a felony sodomy charge and an additional charge for exposing the boy to HIV. The police revealed that the teacher who was working for the Ferguson-Florissant School District at the time of his arrest, was still being paid despite his arrest and molestation allegations.


However while awaiting trial, the HIV-positive teacher and his boyfriend Michael Johnson, allegedly tried to hire a hitman to kill the 10-year-old student and his family. Deonte who was already facing three counts of first-degree sodomy, now faces both conspiracy to commit murder charges and witness tampering charges, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Detectives from Ondo State Police Command are currently on the trail of ritualists who killed a 60-year-old hunchback woman and also paid her son N7m to carry out the act.The deceased was identified as Mrs. Rukayat Abodunde and she was reportedly abducted by two gunmen who came to her home in Ayetoro Street in Ondo town, pretending to have come to buy fish from her.

The Nation reported that though the date of the incident was not revealed, however it reportedly took place around 10 p.m.It was further learnt that the ritualist stormed the house few days later to demand a refund of N7m from the late lady's son, as they discovered that the hunchback was not natural but caused by an accident. While the hunchback woman appeared to have been killed by the ritualists, it was gathered that her son who was paid N7m is currently on the run.

Ondo State Police spokesman, Femi Joseph who confirmed the incident said the case was still being investigated to unravel those behind the dastardly act.
