RomanceRe: The Reason Why The West Do Not Respect African Countries by Nazgul: 3:57pm On Nov 23, 2024

Africans are set backwards by their incurable greed at individual levels - that's what makes them unprepared for the future and unable to stand shoulder to shoulder with less greedy nations
Greed exists on every country in this planet. It's just over amplified in Africa. (No thanks to our useless leaders and the idiots who keep electing them into power) .

That's why African is still backwards despite the vast mineral resources at our disposal.

With Russia attacking Ukraine, no country wishes to send the troops to attack Russia directly. Why is Europe and America respected , it is because they ready for war and have wars. Rome was feared not because of its literature but its army.
Although our ancestors fought against colonalism, the West used guns, ship and far superior weapon.
War develop countries:
So you're expecting an African country struggling with hunger to send their impoverished army to fight against Russia. Wake up from your slumber bro. grin

Yet more than 60% of the populace are still living in abject poverty. What then is all the billions for if it can't improve the standard of living of the common man?

The contract they sent you to sign, did it include internship? If yes, send them a comprehensive email and attach the contact they sent to you, and inform them that if they don't get you a place to do your intern, you'll involve your lawyer and sue them for damages.

Believe me, they'll get back to you ASAP.

Try transporting this in Nigeria and watch how ebin pawa miscreants would attack that truck with knives and keep chopping off the whale until there's nothing left.

YES, That's why I used that word Hoodwink. smiley

The Client who sent the Staff wanted a Receipt bearing 35K. undecided

From what I heard, They Connived and the Staff Told the Secretary that the Client (Her Family friend) have sent the Money ("35K) but there was Bank Network issues. sad

But later she now claimed the Network FAILED totally,
That the Secretary should just hold N20,000, thinking that that the Secretary has written Receipt. sad
The staff is very foolish. You're trying to defraud a company that pays your salary for someone who once things go south with you, wouldn't care or lift a finger to assist you.

How foolish can some people be.

The company should terminate the appointment of that staff.

I love your assertion on this. It's a good push! Thanks.

Do you have any advice for someone who aspires to learn machine learning and deep learning?
Machine learning is a data analyst tool. Even python.

My advise would be for you to learn data analysis comprehensively. So you'll know how and when to use each tool to get your desired result.

Good luck.

The contract is still ongoing, they keep adding more milestones. The screenshot I shared here was the payment I had received at that point.
But from the picture up uploaded in your first post it seems the fixed price was $5. Then you'd be paid based on how many milestones you complete.

To be honest it's quite small considering the nature of the project. But see it as a leg in the door like you rightfully pointed out. Cos your badge would advance to rising Talent, and you can upload the job on your profile which would really help in making prospective employers notice and employ you.

Finally if I'm to advise you, I'd say avoid using your connects to apply for fixed jobs. Look for hourly jobs and apply for them. Reason being that hourly jobs pays more than fixed jobs.

I have been documenting my progress as a web developer on this forum.

Almost a year ago, I shared my very first web development project, a blog I built. I posted the link here in the programming section, but some Nairalanders criticized the website for being ugly, suggesting I should quit.

The link to that blog now points to a different project of mine, but you can find the original post in my post history.

Now, nearly a year later, I’ve landed my first dollar paying gig. A client wanted me to build a web application for them. Honestly, I could have charged more given the scale of the project, but I thought that by offering a lower rate, I could get my foot in the door. I do regret it, though, because the work I did was complex enough to warrant at least $2,000.

Anyway, there’s always a second chance and I won't undersell my services again.

Who knows where I’ll be a year from now?

I won’t be posting my future contracts here for obvious reasons, but I wanted to celebrate this one as it’s my first.

I document my journey as a web developer here, but you can check out my personal blog if you’re interested in reading about my other professional experiences unrelated to web development: https://rxjourney.com.ng

Carpe diem, seize the day. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.
Congratulations.

Hope the satisfied customer left a positive feedback after the job? Cos that feedback would go a long way in helping you secure more jobs.

I am tired of seeing these questions. I consider them lazy and really refraining myself from calling it stupid.

Truth is, you don't even have to be good. I saw 3 internships on hotjobsnigeria last week.

Just be building and be on the the look out and you'll get it.

Or you can just start learning mechanic as AI is taking over every tech jobs. grin grin grin
The reality here is that most Nigerians going into the tech field do so with the hopes of securing remote jobs. So yes you'd have to be good at What you do if you want foreign employers look your way.

You talked about seeing internship jobs. The question here is how much do Nigerian tech companies pay interns and entry level recruits?

Most would peg you at a gross pay of 150k and use you for multiple roles. I know someone who got a job as a full stack developer guess his pay... 250k. What can 250k do for you in this economy?

Some companies would not hire front end or back end developers, they'll hire full stack developers and pay them the same pay (or even less) for handling both roles.

Cybersecurity guys are the worst. Cos no company in Nigeria would hire you as an entry level recruit. You'd have to be a genius before employers would even look your way.

This is why you have to be good at What you do so that you can get a remote job. Cos once you start earning in dollars, no matter how small, our exchange rate would amplify it for you and you'd find yourself earning 20times higher than your colleagues who earn in naira.

I'm also having issues with this oh.

Is it possible to get Jobs on Upwork without verifying ID? Cause I just sent out some proposals only to discover this.
I'm still new to Upwork sha , started last week.
Your account would be temporarily locked if you haven't been verified so you can't get any jobs.

And even when you eventually get verified, don't waste your connects applying for jobs, take your time to upload projects in line with your skills on your profile. This would make prospective employers know that you have what it takes to do the job.

You can't download data analysis tools with a 4gb ram. That laptop would take hours to load tools like power BI. He needs at least an 8gb ram to effectively learn data analysis.

Please what aspect of tech can easily put food on the table from or in Nigeria. With this economy, I don't see people seeking the services of a data analyst and I don't think a foreign company will trust a Nigerian with their online security remotely for those who talk about cybersecurity.
All aspect. Just be good at What you do and you'd make a fortune out of it.

all this can only work with the latter day core african father who had no function other than an atm and dispenser of discipline and was largely absent from his child's life .

it is easy for a child to exchange one absent stranger for another absent stranger.

but a father who is actually present in the child's life? you think memories and experiences can just be switched off like that?
See if you discover that a child you've trained for years and have bonded with isn't biologically yours, you'd be devastated, regardless of how close you are with the child.

And the child's natural instincts would be to find out who his/her biological dad is. Every child would want to find out who really is their father.

Hot take - if a you have been an active dad, the child will always know you as his\her father.

What is going to happen - the Sperm donor suddenly shows up and your child follows the unknown Stanger off into the sunset?
There would be this emotional disconnection between you and the child. And the child would definitely want to know more about his/her real dad. Afterall his mom got pregnant for him.

Good day, fellas. Na fruit we dey call am.

Just pluck anywhere you see it and eat and nobody would disturb you.
