Beaf: Strangely, I only recall people saying he said that. Do you have links with quotes, bruv?
You are becoming lazy these days, ngwanu I will show you the link where GEJ announced to the world that he is seeking only one term.

Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has said he will not seek a second term in office if he wins elections scheduled for April.

As the governing party candidate, he is the favourite even though some party officials have said he should not run.

He is a southerner and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has a tradition of alternating power between north and south of the country.

Politics › RMAFC Forced To Shelve New Revenue Formula Designed To Perpetuate Injustice by nduchucks(op): 9:09pm On Mar 27, 2012
The attempt to continue to impose the unconstitutional, unfair, unjust, and criminal revenue formula, was thwarted by Nigerians who will not stand idly by and allow the theft to continue. This is the first phase, the final phase will be the supreme court.

The gravy train don get accident. cheesy

IT was an unprecedented verbal warfare. And the actors were northern and southern leaders. At the root of this tirade was the national revenue sharing formula. Each section spoilt for action with aim of getting a lion share of the national cake.

This renewed agitation, was aggravated by the promise of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to release a new revenue formula by the end of first quarter 2012.

But yesterday, the commission dashed the expectations of the state actors, saying it could not meet the deadline because the issue has provoked unholy rivalry among the federating states and their leaders.

RMAFC Chairman, Mr. Elias Mbam, who bared his mind on the matter, said the plan of the commission to give Nigerians a new revenue formula had been stalled by political considerations.
Mbam told journalists when he received the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko in Abuja yesterday, that though he had promised that a reviewed formula would be ready by the end of March this year, “challenges” that touched on the unity of the country had made it impossible for him to keep his word.

He said: “It is true that I promised that at the end of this month (March) we should have a new revenue formula, which will be ready for presentation to the media, unfortunately, I had a lot of challenges, in fact national challenges. First, the budget year was moved and so many other challenges...that have a lot of implication for the unity and progress of the country and we are conscious of these and we are very careful.

“I promised that at the end of first quarter I would brief you (journalists) of the progress so far made, but it would be difficult because it will not be ready within a week. We have made reasonable progress but we cannot continue talking about it because this issue is very sensitive, and borders on the very nerve of the unity of Nigeria,” Mbam said.

In the wake of the fresh agitations for an equitable revenue formula for the states, northern governors had declared that the region was being shortchanged under the current arrangement. They blamed the underdevelopment of the region on poor allocations to their states and even questioned the propriety of the 13 per cent derivation for the Niger Delta region.

Their action came under virulent attacks from their southern counterpart, who insisted that the North cannot blame its woes on the revenue sharing profile.
Dikko had told the RMAFC boss that his visit was to seek the commission’s support for the service in the form of strengthening its legal framework to enable the agency perform better.

Dikko said: “The support we need from the commission is political. We are in the review of our legal framework...the current law is a very big obstacle to our revenue collection drive. The fine for some offences is too meagre, the highest for an infringement is just N200. So, we are now intra-regulated by this constraint backed by the law.”
He hinted that the commission plan to hold a capacity building workshop for commissioners from the states to enable them be abreast with the workings of the NCS.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) has urged the government to balance the revenue allocation formula between the states in the North and South.
The group alleged that the present allocation formula favoured the states in the South and therefore rejected it.
After a meeting in Kaduna yesterday, the group said:
“Northern states should have an increase in allocations from the Federation Account based on the fact that the disparity between what oil producing and non-oil producing states in the same country get is too wide.”

President of AYF, Malam Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu, told journalists after the meeting that “since the constitution says that the revenue formula be changed or looked into every 10 years, and in some cases every five years, we agree with the northern state governors that it is now over 20 years that our revenue formula was reviewed and it would be unfair for the North to continue in this state of affairs. ”
GEJ was not elected as president twice.

Only once. So he can run again in 2015.

Beaf: Just in case you need to shine your eyes wella before making another meat sellers interpretation of the chapter, here it is in full again:

Chapter 142 has just two paragraphs (which are both quoted above). Surely, it can't be that hard na.
My brother, as you can see, it only refers to nomination and party membership. I am looking forward to your getting a lawyer from Jankara market who hitherto, only sold onions ands pepper by the roadside.

I quote 142 (2) again:

"The provisions of this Part of this Chapter relating to qualification for election, tenure of office, disqualification, declaration of assets and liabilities and oaths of President shall apply in relation to the office of Vice-President as if references to President were references to Vice-President. "

The chapter in question is Chapter VI and the part referenced is Part 1 Federal Executive. That refered chapter and part include all the sections I've sited. Go to the constitution and find that the only chapter and Part which 142 (2) refers to is what I show below:

Chapter VI

GEJ has only contested for the post of President once, talkless of sitting a full 4 year term.

This is the entire chapter 142. Olodo:

As you can see, 142 (2) refers to 142 (1). They are the only things in the chapter and they are about nominations and party membership. Ok?

You think it is ambiguous and comical, ko? When the supreme court agrees with my interpretation, it would no longer be comical - you'd resort to blaming core-Northern elite again. Look, GEJ assumed Yar'Adua's terms and according to section 142(2), Yar'Adua's tenure of office as President shall apply in relation to the office of Vice-President (GEJ). kunlekunle: Jonathan is serving his first term constitutionally.
The only people who would take your arguments seriously are those who either believe in unsubstantiated rumours or base their decisions on sentiment

can you buttress your arguement from the constitution
Let me help you out a bit here by pointing out a few constitutional provisions:

We all agree that you can Presidential tenures are limited to two terms as specified in the constitution below:

Section 137.(1) A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if -
(b) he has been elected to such office at any two previous elections;

Now GEJ had to vacate the office of the President and contest in the last election when his first term ended as provided for in the constitution below:

Section 135.(2) Subject to the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, the President shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of four years commencing from the date, when -
(b) in any other case, the person last elected to that office under this Constitution took the Oath of Allegiance and oath of office or would, but for his death, have taken such Oaths.

Finally, there is no doubt that Yar’Adua’s term would have expired when GEJ’s 1st term in office expired. Please note that GEJ’s first term expired when Yar’dua’s first term would have expired because of this provision which applies to Chapter VI of the constitution where all the previously sited provisions are contained:

Section 142(2) The provisions of this Part of this Chapter relating to qualification for election, tenure of office, disqualification, declaration of assets and liabilities and oaths of President shall apply in relation to the office of Vice-President as if references to President were references to Vice-President.

We can easily conclude because of section 142 (2) as applied to the other sections I sited, that, if Yar'Adua cannot run for a third term in 2015 if he were alive, then GEJ cannot do the same.

I'm sure some ogbanje lawyers will come and turn my simple analysis upside down shortly, but the issue seems quite clear.
Yar adua use more than 1 trillion naira, non oil export in is last years.

Now this year the govt use an oil price of $90 per barrel to calculate the budget. Because it claim over 90% of its revenue is collected from oil.

I want to disprove that claim that Oil generate over 90% of Nigeria govt revenue.

here is why I say so. When Jonathan Goodluck/Ngozi Iweala finised their budget calculation. they came up with a figure of about 4 trillion in budget, which was said to be over 90% from oil based on $90 per barrel.

Now here is how I do not agree with harvard Ngozi iweala. Who have written the Nigeria budget for 6 years. and have not been telling the truth to Nigerian.

Nigeria used $90 to calculate its budget this year. I will tell you, that companies like shell , mobil etc will make profit. And the calculation made, shows that Ngozi iweala use $90 to calculate the budget. Including shell, mobil etc profit, which is about 40% of the $90. she should have used 60% of the $90. but they used $90

What it means is that 40% of the 4 trillion use to calculate the budget is shell, mobil etc profit. , even if nigeria sold oil for $30 billion, the amount that come to nigeria is just 60% of that. And not 100%, but they have been using the 100% to calcuclate for many years.

It means that the govt would look for ways to fill in the 40% of the 4 trillion in billion. Where do they get the 40%.. From non oil export and taxes of all Nigerian.
while claiming that the people dont pay taxes.

The north seen the satellite pictures discovered the truth , that this state were making false claim to oil. And since Jonathan Goodluck comes from one of the oil state. He has refuse to correct some of this. which is creating the problem, instead he is given them more. Which should not be. One major problem.
This is why most Nigeria now hate Ngozi iweala.

And instead of calculating the oil derivation based on 60% which is the govt profit on oil. They calculated the 13% derivation based on the $90 sale price. And refuse to give other state which had other mineral apart from oil, which were not their own ethnic group or state.

So now the oil state are getting derivation base on $90 instead of 60% of the bench mark price.

So you can see, that Nigeria uses the oil bench price $90 to calculate its budget and not the oil profit price which may be about 60%. And also use the oil bench mark price to calculate 13% mineral derivation. which is wrong.
^^^^ +1000 (

There is brimestone and fire on the mountain but PDP seems to be oblivious to the danger. May God Help And Bless Nigeria. Amu

Findings by Nigerian Tribune revealed that jihadists in the Sahel had since considered Nigeria as a new front, especially after video and pictures of alleged atrocities of Nigerian security forces and their Western allies were circulated across the worldwide jihadist network. huh

For some weeks now, it was learnt that several reports of alleged victimisation of innocent civilians in Kano and Maiduguri had made their ways into the Islamic world with the Nigerian security forces being portrayed as repressing Muslims.

A particular Arabic website even detailed complaints of prominent Kano and Maiduguri elders to confirm alleged excesses of the military to mobilise jihadists for supposed holy war in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, an Algerian terrorists has confessed to interrogators in Algiers that the sect is planning massive attacks to commemorate the first year of Bin Laden’s death in Pakistan. shocked

An Algerian Islamic newspaper, Elcharoukh, quoted the suspect as listing Nigeria, Algeria, Mauritania, Niger and Mali as countries the Sahel Al-Qaeda is targeting for the attacks.

Algerian security sources said Algiers is sharing such intelligence with the affected countries.

Meanwhile, members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, at the weekend, lost their lives during a crossfire between the Joint Task force on Operation Restore Order and members of the sect in Maiduguri, Borno State.

In the attack which made hundreds of innocent citizens to sleep outside their homes, the JTF recovered one AK47 rifle and 200 rounds of special ammunition.

Spokesman for JTF, Lieutenant-Colonel Shamsu Musa, confirmed to Nigerian Tribune that the crossfire was as a result of the attack by the sect on JTF troops stationed at Sabon Gari, Maiduguri metropolitan council.

According to him, the sect members attacked the troop stationed at Abaganaran and Jajeri wards in Maiduguri between 5.30 p.m. and 7.15 p.m. on Saturday, adding that during the crossfire, three members of the sect died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Lieutenant-Colonel Musa said that although no casualty was recorded on the side of the troop, the JTF recovered 200 rounds of 6.722mm special ammunition. shocked

He said members of the public who were passing through the area were ordered to lie down to save their lives.
According to him, troops were still in pursuit of the sect members and events would be communicated to the press as they unfolded.

“Meanwhile, situation is under control,” he added.

Explaining why the military had to restrain people and ordered them to lie down on the main road from Saturday night till Sunday morning, Lieutenant-Colonel Musa told the Nigerian Tribune in Maiduguri that “those ordered to lie down by the roadside should not have bad feelings, as it is for their own good, for security of their own lives, as the JTF did not want them to be caught in the cross fire or hit by stray bullets.”

He added that “moreso, they were trapped during the curfew hours when there is restriction of movement and the troops have every right to halt them, even as they acted for the good of innocent citizens.”

Nigerian Tribune also learnt that apart from the men of the JTF who were attacked, the fundamentalist laid a siege on the Lamisula police station and engaged the police present at the station in gun battle, which lasted for over an hour.

The sect also attacked the police station with a rocket launcher and hand-held bomb, which led to destruction of part of the station.

The sound of bomb blast was heard in all corners of Maiduguri and people had to rush back home.

Thousands of residents who were held up by the attack out of their homes were made to sleep on the roads by the men of the JTF, who still enforced the curfew which is between 7.00 p.m and 6.00 a.m.

We must not let things get out of hand, danger looms.

MORE facts have emerged on why the Al-Qaeda in the Sahel region established an operational base in Nigeria, even as an Al-Qaeda suspect in an Algerian prison has confessed that the sect is planning attacks in Nigeria and four other nations to commemorate the first year of Osama bin Laden’s death.

Nigerian Tribune had reported that the terror group had created a Nigerian base with specific goal of kidnapping Western expatriates in Nigeria to raise operational fund for Al-Qaeda worldwide, a report that was followed by the sect’s confirmation of its responsibility for the kidnapping of a German engineer in Kano city. shocked

Fresh reports from the Sahel region indicated that the terror group, apart from targeting Nigeria for fund-raising, also focuses on Nigeria because of the increasing presence of Western secret services in the country.

Nigeria, in its bid to combat the Boko Haram insurgency, had entered into operational accord with intelligence services of major Western powers that had since swarmed the country in close coordination with their Nigerian counterpart.

The British Intelligence service, M15 is reported to be very active in Nigeria alongside the Israeli Service, MOSSAD, while the American Special Forces are also not left out.

Security sources also hinted that the German secret service is now active in Nigeria in search of its kidnapped citizen, while the involvement of the Australian intelligence service was a subject of legislative inquiry in that country. The French secret service is said to have entered the country long ago due to its deep involvement in the Sahel region. shocked shocked shocked

Ndigbo will give away crude oil free of charge if it is a requirement to gain sovereignty. However, Ndigbo had not intention whatsoever to forfeit what belongs to them.
If we are able to build a nation with a constitution which is fair to all and provides for 100% resource control to the states, and true Federalism, will you give up this idea of separation? If we can achieve the aforementioned, say within 5 - 10 years without a war, wouldn't that be preferable with this total separation you are calling for?
ROFLMFAO and the ignorance continue. Speaking for others didnot work for ND, so the new tatics is for SE grin grin grin. My liver just followed my gut in busting with laughter. The leaders of SE are chopping money, do you honestly think they speak for us or do you think any of us trust am? They are born and bred and govern by the Nigerian politics, if anything they are CORRUPT as it can get since they have lived and drank from the corruption water that Nigeria dishes out to leaders. I don't know about you but I do not see any Nigerian leader as my leader. If anything, when and I really mean WHEN Nigeria separate and Biafra become a reality, all those leaders should be locked up until cleansed off the Nigerian water they've been drinking.

Lastly as for the people, I suppose the occupy Nigeria saga didn't teach una anything. Conduct a survey right now in East and among Igbo outside of East and come back to reality upon seeing the answer. LMFAO, keep swinging that sh1t around, if it helps you sleep at night, the one Nigeria is everyone wish.
https://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm211/GiftofWolves/wildcats/roflmao.gif
First off, the vast majority of Ndigbo reside outside of Igbo land in Nigeria and separation is the last thing they wish for themselves and their families. They want us to have a successful country. Secondly, why do you people keep voting for the leaders who do not represent your wishes?

Please tell me how you plan to wrestle power away from your leaders who control your military and economic power? These are leaders you've admitted do not share your views on separation? Frankly you are in denial and you are delusional. I feel sorry for you too. You may roll on the floor until your black a$$ turns into a red one (remember say una sand sand na red) Mumu.
