Politics › Lets Make Proficiency In One Or Two Nigerian Languages, A Graduation Requirement by nduchucks(op): 5:46pm On Apr 07, 2012
99% of the tribalists here on NL are proficient in only one of the three major Nigerian languages, Hausa, Yoruba, or Ibo. One of the factors responsible for tribalism is ignorance and a lack of understanding. Learning a language, other than ones own mother's tongue gives one another tool with which to build understanding and essential knowledge base.

I would actually require that if you are from the Northern region, you must be required to take courses in Yoruba or Ibo, and if you are from the South, Hausa courses must be required; at the secondary school level. I'd implement this nation wide.

To graduate from a Nigerian University, if you are a foreigner, you must be proficient in one of our three major languages, while language proficiency for Nigerians would be based on the region you are from. Thus, tribalists like Onlytruth would be required to be proficient in Hausa or Yoruba, an act which would do wonders to his sensitivities. smiley

This simple act would transform Nigeria for good in a matter of 5 years and reduce tribalism and fake separatism.

Onlytruth: They could have spoken Ibibio, Ijaw, Ogoni or any of the over 15 languages in Cross river state.
They also operated with a lot of confidence and calm, even using exotic cars like Hummers and jeeps and were not in any hurry.
Ndigbo say that a boy whose father sends to a robbery often boldly kicks down doors with confidence.
These are not Northerners, by a long shot. cool
shatap dia, once again here you are trying to lay blame on the Ibibio, Ijaw, or Ogonis, simply because they mentioned Hummer. Here dem: "The robbers spoke in a strange language, calling some officers to come

Onlytruth: My friend you cannot quote me half and leave it at that. You should quote me in full.
The debate around 1966 is only happening because your brothers think they can capture 40 million Ndigbo and bar us from fully exercising our rights as Nigerians. They will soon learn that it is not possible.
They are really the ones making reconciliation impossible.
The quote above is indicative of your woes. You are always blaming the boogeyman, for where you find yourselves in the nation, instead of joining others and fighting for your interests through our democratic mechanisms. You can't continue to blame others for your woes, sooner or later, you have to become civilized and learn how to participate in an established process, and become savvy enough to skew the system in your favour. No one will give you any Presidency simply because you are Igbo, olodo.

For starters, you people may want to rally around Nnmani in his quest to become the next PDP BOT chairman. My bet is that, fellow Igbos will work against him in the effort.

@ekwy nwa, you heard Onlytruth, your superior, he has ordered you to drop it, since you are mindless and don't have the ability to reason on your own.

You stated that "we didnt throw bombs like Boko Haram, we didnt blow up pipelines like MEND did", that is true but your actions caused the deaths of more Nigerians than any action to date by MEND or BH.

in a strange language
, calling some officers to come out and confront them, before razing part of the station with locally made grenades. shocked They also carted away an undisclosed number of AK47rifles.

The Ukpor attack was the second of such on police stations in Anambra State in two days. The first was
at Amichi Police Station in Nnewi South Local Government Area.

The incident brought to six, the number of policemen killed with one injured within two days.
hmmmm, the culprits spoke in a strange language, but they razed the police station with locally made grenades huh

There is no doubt that the North has two-thirds or more of Nigeria's land mass, census data also support similar proportion population-wise.

Don't come crying foul now while ignoring the fact that the National Population Commission which conducted the latest census was constituted with a Chairman and 37 members representing each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

What injustice are you talking about, you people need to give up this victim mentality and take responsibility for yourselves.
Care to explain the coup?
Let me help Katsumoto out:

Katsumoto: At the end of the day, each man must analyse the facts and reach a conclusion. I welcome the facts presented by Max, Nowa Omoigui, Ademoyega, Gbulie, and other historians. However, I must reach a conclusion for myself based on the facts. The facts include motive and execution of the coup.

FACTS

Motive
The constitutional conference of January 1965 in which Zik was told the extent of his powers by the military service chiefs after Zik called the Army to intervene following his stand-off with Balewa

Facts
1. Zik was absent from Nigeria when the coup took place saying that he needed to rest. His personal physician abandoned him in the Caribbean. More worryingly, Zik preferred to be on holiday while Nigeria hosted for the first time, the Commonwealth Prime Minister's conference
2. The composition of the victims - mainly Northerners and Westerners
3. The composition of the plotters - overwhelmingly Igbo
4. The opportunist attitude of Igbo politicians after the coup failed. NCNC members wanted Mbadiwe to take over as Prime Minister despite the fact that NCNC was the junior partner in the coalition with NPC. With the rejection of Mbadiwe by NPC, rightly stating that there nominated Dip Charima, should take over as PM. With no progress in the deadlock, Nwafor Orizu preferred to hand over to Ironsi on the instructions of Zik who was on 'holiday'.
5. Nzeogwu's interview with Dennis Ejindu where Nzeogwu stated that the execution of the coup in the South was tribalistic

http://maxsiollun./2008/02/20/interview-with-major-nzeogwu/

6. After murdering Balewa and some of his colleagues, Ifeajuna proceeded to have a meeting with the premier of the East, Michael Okpara, in Enugu before escaping to Ghana.
7. Captain Nwobosi stated that Zik was tipped-off by Ifeajuna. But how did Nwobosi know whether Zik was part of the plan if Ifeajuna concocted the plan and Nwobosi himself was recruited two or three days before the coup? See Oil, politics and violence: Nigeria's military coup culture (1966-1976) By Max Siollun
8. Ironsi's inability to court-martial the plotters.

Allegation
It was alleged that Zik was Ifeajuna by Ajuluchukwu (Zik's NCNC chieftain)

The evidence is overwhelming in my view

Dede1: The above assertion is far from the truth. Do you know how many times I have been laughed off on the streets in Owerri for extending ordinary road courtesy to a fellow road user? It is not necessarily true that most Nigerians in USA are drawn from the pool of upper class Nigerians. You are known to have argued against citing International airport in eastern region of Nigeria. Nigeria needs to be completely erased and redrawn.

Most people in USA have not moved beyond the boundary of towns or counties because they do not need to move.
How many of the 100-150 million Nigerians do you think have the opportunity to own or drive a car, to the point of being able to extend road courtesy. You people are arguing about semantics, but I have to agree with Mallam ekt_bear, that most of you people here on NL and abroad are upper class Nigerians.

How many of the 100million people can afford 3 square meals, not to talk of affording to access the internet, and much more going abroad for further education? You elitists here on NL, are suffering from a dangerous disconnect and ignorance of the human conditions in your own country.

How many of the 20million people in Lagos can afford or will ever have the opportunity to travel and/or visit Abuja/Kaduna or Port Harcourt? Ponder the question and see that you are from the upper class of Nigeria.

I thank you for that, I have since the first person said it taken a caution and ask the Lord to take it out of me, however, it's also something I should deal with myself. In other words, the fact that I know doesn't make mean I should castigate others who don't know but teach them. I agree with you bro, by the spirit of God. Thank you.
Meeennn, why are you looking for my trouble again? I've told you to incorporate common sense in your utterances, but it appears you are not yet sober. Imagine your statement above where you purport to be asking God to take a bad behavior out of you - how convenient. Common sense would suggest that you take responsibility for your bad habits and understand that you alone will have to change it yourself. No holy or ven evil spirit will do that for you.

Secondly you are so full of yourself with the statement that "I know doesn't make mean I should castigate others who don't know but teach them." Please note that a good definition for a fool is a man, "who does not know, and does not know that he does not know, and as a matter of fact, thinks that he knows enough to teach others, when he himself is in the dark.
After 2015 life goes on. Believe it or not, there is something each group has that the other doesnt have. Maybe we have something thats capable of lifting Nigeria out of deep poverty, who knows. What I will never do is to stoop low to beg for whats my right. If and when an Igbo throws himself up for Aso rock, two things will happen - either win or lose. If he wins fine, if not he goes home with his plans for the nation and whoever wins will either lift Nigerians from poverty or sink them deeper. In the end Igbo will never be in the bottom of abject poverty in Nigeria, its not a boast because its our culture - just like Fulani stands a better chance at rearing cattle than any Igbo dead or alive. So my brother, in the end we will not be the worst hit for any Aso rock choice Nigeria makes either in 2015 or beyond
The point I was hoping to drive home is that, my Igbo brothers are not savvy at all in the political game. They do not have the necessary skills required to win a Presidential race. No one disputes the fact that every Nigerian has a right to contest, but no one will give any particular person or tribe the Presidency for nothing. Igbo politicians need to forge meaningful alliances with the SW or the North, else, no Igboman will ever be President in Nigeria.

The alternative to playing the game is to continue to wish that the country fails and disintegrates so that an Igboman can rule in Biafra. This is the sad truth. Tell me, which governor in the SE can one honestly say is a good candidate for the job? Ngige will not be the ACN flagbearer except if he wants to be used as a bargaining chip the same way Ribadu was used. Soludo could not even win the governor's race in his state, how will he become the President?

@beneli & Eze Onlytruth, in order to make a serious run for President, you have to be presented by either PDP, CPC, or ACN. Other parties are irrelevant for now.

Which Igbo candidate do you think PDP can successfully put forth, how about ACN, or CPC? You'll agree with me that ACN or CPC will not put forth an Igbo candidate in 2015. That leaves PDP. Here again, its not possible!

I'm sure you see why Igbo candidates should not even make an attempt in 2015. Be honest to yourselves, 2015 is out of the question, don't lie to yourselves.

Onlytruth: I'll throw in two quick examples.
Now, imagine a Soludo/El Rufai ticket for any party, and Ngige/Fashola ticket for ACN (I believe that if we play deft politics, the Ngige/Fashola ticket can happen), or Rochas Okorocha/another core Northerner for APGA.
These three are possible. All we need to do is adopt ONE of such ticket and work for it!
We can produce the president. cool
I think you mean El Rufai/Soludo ticket for any party, and Fashola/Ngige ticket for ACN.

I don't believe anyone would be able to stop a El Rufai/Soludo ticket, but the likelihood of such a ticket is probably 0.00001%

Sadly, the powers that be are not yet ready for a Igbo President, we'll have to wait for the civil war generation (60 years and above) to die off before we can have a Igbo President. That is , unless there is a divine intervention.

Lets hope BH activities are not spreading southwards. Bandits just don't randomly attack police patrolmen, this killing is like the signature operation of BH lipsrsealed

Unidentified gunmen in two Hummer Jeeps have shot and killed four policemen in Oraifite community in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria.

The four policemen were on routine patrol in the area on Monday night when the incident happened.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that an inspector and eight other policemen had gone on routine duty at Emeka Offor Junction in the area at night when the gunmen opened fire on them.

An eye witness account said that some unidentified bandits operating in two Hummer Jeeps opened fire and killed four the policemen.

The witness said that the bandits later set fire on the two police patrol vehicles before taking the guns belonging to the dead and others, who ran away.

Confirming the incident, Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, the Anambra Police Command spokesman, said three policemen were killed by the robbers.

He said that men of the command had swung into action to track down the fleeing hoodlums, adding that “we are making progress in catching up with the robbers.

“It is possible that the robbers sustained injuries because there was a serious gun battle between our men and the robbers but because nobody was seen from their side, people concluded that the police did not challenge the robbers,” Chukwuemeka said.

Okay, come back to our point now. Can your same common sense explain why people that don't pay this same tithe are super rich?

You seems not to understand the core of the matter. May be if your common sense can explain why other people that don't pay this "monster" called tithe to church are still super rich than even those that pays it, then you will simply understand the core of the matter.

Waiting sir.
Ok sir, let me quote your question:

"Can your same common sense explain why people that don't pay this same tithe are super rich?"

Sir, this question is itself senseless, I'm sorry to say. You are stating categorically that people that don't pay tithe are super rich, and you are now asking me to explain that. huh

Oh boy, I do not accept your premise. Which super rich people have you researched and how did you reach the conclusion that those of them who share your religion do not pay tithe? It is because of this kind of reasoning of yours that I think you are confused and could make some improvements by using some common sense.
