The British Government will repatriate ₤43 million pounds siphoned by corrupt Nigerian government officials to off shore accounts, the liaison officer for West Africa of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) Mr Michael Dockree has said.Who are the owners of the offshore accounts and when are they going to prison or face prosecution? Please name names. |
@Beaf, just in case you are slow (most likely simply dodgey), Let me repeat my question: Do you agree with me that if your likes and MEND demand accountability from these thieving governors and employ some of your criminal techniques such as kidnaping and blowing up some of the governors' assets, your people in the Niger Delta would be better off? A simple yes or no would suffice. Charity, they say, begins at home. |
Beaf:I knew you wouldn't address the issue raised but I'm not surprised. Your thieving governors receive billions of naira every month, most of which is misappropriated and stolen. We all still remember Alams who is still trying to return to power as we speak. Do you agree with me that if your likes and MEND demand accountability from these thieving governors and employ some of your criminal techniques such as kidnaping and blowing up some of the governors' assets, your people in the Niger Delta would be better off? A simple yes or no would suffice. Your smiley and hausa/fulani comment on the last post is silly. olodo tribalist wannabe. |
ezeagu:Good question. The government is responsible for providing for the security of citizens, when it fails to do so, conflicts such as the Jos crisis become the order of the day. The ruling elite can be blamed for letting religious extremists run amok - they use religion for political purposes instead of putting the religious extremists in jail where they belong. The identity of these extremists is not a secret. |
In the defence of the governor, the aide said the feud was not about any inflation of contract cost or financial recklessness. They said it was a move to force the governor to renew the contracts between Alpha Beta, a revenue collection consultancy owned by Tinubu and the state government. The firm had been collecting all revenues on behalf of Lagos State government since the period the Tinubu government was in power. How can a siting governor own a company that is charged with collecting the state's revenues? On top of that, Tinubu's was charging excessive commission! The Lagosians can set a great example for the nation by defanging this godfather, Tinubu, and sending a real message to the rest of them, nation-wide. Lagosians must fully support Fahola in these matters or shame on them. The masses must take the fight to the corrupt, powerful elite. |
Mallam Beaf, you were addressed by yeswecan as follows: yeswecan: @ BeafYou responded below by dribbling all over the place in your usual maradona manner while distracting from the real question you were asked. Here's your pitiful response : Beaf:oh boy, cut the crap. I've already warned you that you will be exposed whenever I catch you in your customary chicanery. The man states that you have state and Local government for God's sake, yet you can't start the war from the root. You conveniently failed to address that point. Mr Beaf, what have you and your ilk done to hold your governors accountable? MEND is nothing but a criminal organization. If the guys are indeed freedom fighters all they have to do is warn your governors, fight them on their turf, and force them to stop stealing Nbillions on a monthly basis. Think about what that would do for your region. |
I don't think I am offended any less by the civil war, I just think 40years later after gun shuts ended the term 'Biafra' should be a call or reminder to why we must be our brother's keeper. Are you in politics? Your Biafra should be to provide for those you lead; Are you a Teacher? Your Biafra should be to give your best so that the next generation of Igbos will have more reknowned scientists amongst them; Are you a Lawyer? Your Biafra can be to take up cases with less fee Charges for Igbo Business who pay for shops only to find them destroyed without compensation when Government policies change. This business of coming to internet to spew threatning comments about secession every week when the evidence on the ground does not reflect any of these is at best juvenile and at worst silly and misguided. Enough is Enough.
Another voice of reason! I've been trying to tell our resident internet warriors the same thing for months. |
Tsiya: I do not understand why most people view Nigeria as a teritory under the occupation of Northern Nigeriia. It will be good if everybody reflects on the structure of Nigeria and how it is governed, the north is not holding anyone on leeches. The President is away for 60days and all the other remaining top shots in this country are people from the South or middle belt, I see no reason why people will come here and start blaming all their misfortunes on Northern Nigeria/Nigeria. People should direct their anger to their elders. Look at theThe injustice in Nigeria is not only in Niger Delta, it is all over the country. But more glaring because NigerDelta is the source of oil.Tsiya, I agree with your assertions 100%. You see, noise makers like beaf, sapeleguy, and Ibime, are internet revolutionaries and they are known for toothless internet gangsterism. They will not see the brilliant points you made above because they believe that they will eventually control 100% of the oil resources of the Niger Delta some day. These are people who write from the comfort of their sofas in diaspora. They are basically suffering from a disconnect from the masses and the real/common enemy (the ruling elite). |
wirinet:It appears that an attempt to point out to you, what is obvious, is an exercise in futility. Section 145 simply states that the VP will become acting President when the said transmission letter is received from the President. That's all. Section 145 is binding - in that when the letter is received, Jonathan must be sworn in as acting President. I'm afraid you are not talking like a lawyer, not even like a first year law student. olodo. |
wirinet:wirinet, Trust me, I feel your pain and probably like you, I now believe that Jonathan should be sworn in, not as acting President but as the President of Nigeria! Yar'Adua should be impeached, there are enough grounds for impeachment at this point. Note that a court ruled that Yar'Adua is not required to transmit the said letter to the parliament. For you to accuse me of being part of some PDP circus is a bit silly. Most legal minds who read the constitution will tell you that the President is not required by law to transmit the said letter, that fact is pretty obvious. There is an expectation that the President would be reasonable enough to transmit such a letter, unfortunately, Turai is in the way. |
blacksta:I don't understand how you can reach the conclusion that there is no need for a vice president. Even as it is, the vice president is already performing some of the duties of the AWOL president. I believe there are enough grounds for impeaching Yar'Adua at this point, whether he writes a letter to parliament or not. |
newmaster:I completely disagree with you here. The court is absolutely correct in ruling that there was no constitution requirement for him to formally write to parliament, informing them he is on "medical vacation". Writing a formal letter to parliament informing them he is on vacation is the only event that will jumpstart the transferring of executive powers to Jonathan. Our elders need to apply pressure on Yar'Adua to do the right thing - the time has come. Yar'Adua should stop toying with what the millitary may be forced to do. |
Beaf:One would have thought by now, you of all people would know where I stand. We are obviously worse off without an active president and I fully support giving Jonathan full executive powers and the position of acting President. We just need to find the quickest constitutional way to accomplish this. Yar'Adua needs to transmit the necessary letter that will make the power transfer, albeit a temporary one, happen. Enough is enough, if Yar'Adua does not do this very soon, the senate should find ways to impeach him. I hope my position is as clear as a whistle to you. OgidiBoy:Its on the breaking news scroller on ThisDay website. There is also a report here : http://www.channelstv.com/newsdetails.php?news_id=15888 Extract from the above URL: A group of past Presidents, Vice Presidents, former Ministers and lawmakers have backed the Senate's stance on President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua that he should transmit a letter formally to the National Assembly notifying it of his medical vacation. |
According to ThisDay, Gowon, Shagari, and Shonekan have written a letter to the national assembly indicating that they want President Yar'Adua to write vacation letter so that Jonathan can become acting President with full executive priviledges. Details are still sketch. Yar'Adua will have to do the right thing or face impeachment very soon. |
Nigeria deserves to lose this game, we've lost at least 4 great chancing of scoring. I'm turning off the TV!!! If we play at this level at the WC, expect scores like 7 - 0; or even 11 - 0 against naija. |
Get Martin out now!!! |
How did Ghana make it to the semi final? This team is playing very poorly, shame on us if we don't defeat Ghana by at least 2 goals. If our coach doesn't make appropriate adjustments, he should be fired right after this game. olodo |
Its a matter of a few minutes, we shall score. This Ghana team is inferior |
df2006:df2006, didn't I order you to crawl back into the hole from which you were just expunged? Learn how to express yourself before making entries like a dimwit on NL. olodo. What does your rant have to do with the topic of this thread? I know you likes, you people escape to diaspora, come to the internet and spew rubbish while waiting for others to fight your battles. Look at him expressing joy at the unfortunate killings of fellow Nigerians! ode iddo! |
McKren:I am not defending any government at all. I, infact believe that the senate can find several reasons to impeach Yar'Adua at the moment. My point is that, violation of the provisions of section 145 will not be one of the charges. When the senate is ready, they will start impeachment proceedings, unless Yar'Adua sends the required transmission letter. |
mikeansy:I don't have much patience for people who are slow to learning. Most of us, would like to see Jonathan as acting President with full executive powers - the earlier he becomes acting President, the better we all will be. Yar'Adua has not violated any part of section 145, period. The senate is simply trying to force him to do the right thing and transmit the letter that will enable Jonathan to take over temporarily. |
FACE:The earlier you learnt that in a negotiation, you don't necesarily get all you want and must give and take, the better for you. The alternative to peaceful negotiations is force - some of you people who have learnt nothing from the civil war, seem to be advocating force by your rigidity and lack of understanding of what negotiations mean. |
mikeansy:Contrary to your belief that Yar'Adua is in violation of section 145 of the constitution, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) is expected to receive later today a 7-day ultimatum from the Senate within which to produce a comprehensive report on President Umaru Yar’adua’s health status. This was the conclusion arrived at by senators after 5 hours’ intense debate behind closed doors in Abuja. If the Senators believe that Yar'Adua is in violation of any constitutional provision, they would have started an impeachment proceeding. ko kwa? |
@Ibime, The question I meant to ask you is as follows: What other natural resources do you have in the Niger Delta besides oil, and how have those been developed? Once again, if you don't have an answer, just state as such. @Ibime and FACE, your irrelevant rants about off topic issues will be ignored. If you have not yet figured it out, the point I am trying to drive in your skull is that, resource control has to be negotiated in the appropriate manner among interested parties. It behooves interested parties to negotiate from a position of strength, which will come through an understanding of the strong views of other stake holders. You will never be given 100% resource control as you expect without employing the most sophisticated negotiating tools available to you. An important component of these tools is an understanding of the realities of what you cannot have, unless you are willing to use force. You can keep dreaming all you want. |
Ibime, you can discuss issues without being an a.sshole, calling people parasites serves no useful purpose whatsoever. I repeat that stating that the Nigerian government has invested no money towards oil production, refineries and the like, is completely false. You can continue to believe what you wish. The point remains that, if you and your ilk believe that the Federal government will hand over all existing oil fields to you, then you are completely naive and senseless. Stop dodging my questions - I ask again: (1) Would you be kind enough to help us explain why your niger delta governors are working to thwart efforts to make Jonathan, acting President? (2)What other resources besides oil, do you have or would like to control in the Niger Delta? |
@Richyblack, nothing do you, my brother. Ibime:Do you have the intellectual capability to answer simple questions relating to this thread at all? Let me repeat my question: Would you be kind enough to help us explain why your niger delta governors are working to thwart efforts to make Jonathan, acting President? If you are an uninformed Niger Delta son, just ignore the question. olodo Here's your homework: How much equity does the Federal Government of Nigeria have in the oil companies such as Shell? In the maintime note that under the Production Sharing Contracts signed -SNEPCO; the Sixth Participation Agreement; are as follows: (NNPC=55%, Shell=30%, Elf= 10%, Agip=5%). So if you think the nigerian government invests nothing, you are dead wrong. |
Ibime, Your attempt at trivializing oil exploration in Nigeria and stating that Nigeria only sells exploration rights to companies such as shell, without investing any financial or other resources is lame. Be that as it may, none of your Niger Delta states invested a single kobo in the ventures either. My response to FACE's questions stand. All lands that are currently processed for oil, remain federal property and will remain so for the foreseeable future. May I ask you what other resources can be found in the Niger Delta area? Back to the thread's topic: Would you be kind enough to help us explain why your niger delta governors are working to thwart efforts to make Jonathan, acting President? @udezue, kedu kordi? |
