RichyBlacK:Please allow me to state that the members of the Nigerian government are not aliens from Mars or the Moon, but Nigerians like yourself. What has been your participation in the government? If you've been on the sidelines and have allowed the so called useless government to continue to rule you without protesting, what does that make you? A useless citizen? |
FACE:e be like say you sef get some ting in common with the great Zik of Africa, given the way you are attempting to knack hausa. www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 FACE:ngwanu, I admit prematurely jumping into the conclusion that you are from the Niger Delta area. I apologize for that - there is nothing inferior about being from the Niger Delta by the way. FACE:1. Full resource control with 20% tax to the centre (loose federation) Some sort of federation is in order with full resource control and an appropriate amount of tax. I would however exclude oil and gas resources discovered, drilled, and marketed, with the financial resources of Nigeria. I'd be OK with 100% control of newly discovered oil, as long as the states used their own resources to discover the oil. All existing oil will remain the property of the federal government. All offshore oil found and not yet found must remains the property of the federal government. Lazy south/south states that have invested absolutely nothing, should gain nothing from existing oil wells. 2. State of residence rather than state of origin I'm 100% in agreement with this. 3. Equal opportunity and merit in place of quota system and federal character I'm 100% in agreement with this. 4. Freedom of worship (no state religion) I'm 100% in agreement with this. 5. Smooth transition of power without ethnic bias I'm 100% in agreement with this. So you see, we are not very far apart as you initially though. |
udezue:Let them vote to do what? We don't even have an impeachment proceeding in progress. Do you think that we have a parliamentary system of government in Nigeria or are you simply ignorant? |
udezue:Your statement is very naive. You have no idea what egunge from south/south governors in collusion with south/south senators and others can do. |
mikeansy:mikeansy, your attempt at informing us that Yar'Adua has violated section 145 is frankly juvenile and elementary. Please re-read the same section 145 you quoted, and note that the statement "Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives that he is proceeding on vacation or e.t.c" is not the same as "The President must transmit or the President is required to transmit to e.t.c" Please don't waste your time on this non issue. The senate may find other reasons to impeach Yar'Adua, but the reasons will not include violation of section 145 of the constitution. Your conclusions are simply dead wrong. olodo. |
Dede1:At the risk of being labelled a divide and rule advocate, I regretfully have to agree with Dede1 here. The most unfortunate thing is that, most of the readers of Dede1's post, will neither get the point being made, nor understand the implications of the statement. |
df2006:df2006, please crawl back into the hole from which you were just expunged. Learn how to express yourself before making entries like a dimwit on NL. olodo. What does the happenings in Jos have to do with the topic of this thread? By the way, who the heck is Shehu? Has the character named Onlytruth succeeded in confusing your gullible mind? |
FACE:What a dumb question! You don't get to become the acting president simply because people think you should. You get to become the acting president based on what the constitution says - it is not surprising that lawless people like you and other criminal organizations like MEND do not believe in the rule of law. Most people would rather that we had an acting president than one that is in absentia - unfortunately wishes cannot make this happen. |
Ibime: FACE:I have been wasting my time trying to have a reasonable discussion with you people. Your statements above makes one think that you are simpletons and ignoramuses. Let me inform you that there are house/senate rules that must be followed and several motions voted upon before an issue is finally brought to the full senate for debate and voting. Specifically, there are committees that must first agree to table issues for discussions in the commitees befores the issues can ever be tabled on the full floor for debate. If you don't know that a handful of senators can stall procedings, then you people are not very bright. Here is your homework: go and find out which south/south senators belong to the commitees responsible for initiating the actions that could make Jonathan the acting president. Once you have that answer, things will be clearer to you. It is not enough to wish your points away, you need to know the facts. FACE:Divide and rule is the new keyword that you people are using to support your denials, ko? Continue to bury your heads in the sand, until kudunkudu(or guluso - that ant-like creature that walks backwards that lives in the sand) gouges your eyes out. I noticed that people like Dede1 have come to offer you moral support on the one hand, while calling you people idiots and fools on the other. Serves you right.Your dear governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is currently praying that the court compel the Federal Government and the National Assembly to reinstate him as the governor of the state. I suppose pointing out that that man is a thief that belongs in jail will be tantamount to using a divide and rule tactic on you. Dan tselewa! @Wily+Wily, what will be the location of you suicide when your favourite daughter elopes and marries a hausa-fulani man? |
Onlytruth:What are the specific violations of section 145? You talk of legislative intent, well, that applies to laws made by the legislative branch. We are talking about the constitution here and not any particular law. I'm sure you've read section 145, so I await your itemization of Yar'adua's violations. Most people agree that Yar'Adua should have notified authorities of his extended absense to make way for an acting President. He is not required by the constitution to do so, is he? @Ibime, divide and rule ko, gather and worship ni. na people like you dey worship Alams the crooked ex gov when he escaped imprisonment in the UK. shine ya eyes, olodo. Here's an extract from the article: According to a source, “What is happening now is a complete mess; tomorrow, we are going to let the whole world know that some senators from the South South are frustrating moves to hand over to Jonathan”. He said “what we learnt is that two governors from the South South are vehemently opposed to Jonathan taking over, in addition to a former governor from the zone who is also against the hand over but we must resolve this tomorrow”. |
Onlytruth:I hope you are not attempting to misinform us again. Pray tell, what constitutional provision has Yar'Adua violated to date? |
Onlytruth:biko, enlighten us. Why would you prefer Jonathan to, let's say, Ojukwu or anyone else? No need to be afraid to answer, you are safe, for now. |
^^^ How are we sure you people and your ilk are not the ones bribing the south/south senators into working against Jonathan. One can't put anything past you secessionists. One hopes you are using aboki as a term of endearment here - I recall that when you people say aboki, you really mean Ewu. |
Why would the state governors from the South/South be against handing over the presidency to Jonathan? I invite comments that can shed some light on this issue. While Nigerians await the final decision of the Senate over the continued absence of President Umaru Yar’Adua, senators from the North are blaming their colleagues from the South South of frustrating moves to hand over power to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan. The Senate will tomorrow take a decision on how best to tackle the constitutional crisis thrown up by the continued absence of Yar’Adua in the event of none transmission of a letter to the National Assembly. It was learnt, weekend, that some senators who were said to be insisting on compliance with the constitution to hand over to Jonathan accused senators especially from the South South for bowing to pressure from their state governors not to support the handover. |
One can't help but wonder whether Sanusi did not overreact when he proclaimed that some of the sacked CEOs should be shot. These numbers are staggering! Over $4billion in liquid instruments and hundreds of choice properties, most of which were allegedly aquired illegally Naijaking, I hope you are reconsidering your unconditional support for Madam Ibru. |
JNdupu:People wey no sabi how to control traffic for their home towns or how to line up for petrol queue without wahala, dey here dey design new nations. www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 |
Onlytruth:How did you arrive at this 2% number, Mallam Statistician? Your northern brothers are otherwise preoccupied with managing your likes and rulling you people to submission. ![]() On a serious note, you have to agree that Abagworo's post is very reasonable. Abagworo: |
Katsumoto: SapeleGuy:Katsumoto & Sapeleguy, I'm afraid that you are falling for the trap set by the "rotten bunch in Abuja" as you put it. The frustration and hopelessness you exhibit here is exactly what these people are counting on. The good news is that, many progressives and young minds - several of whom reside in diaspora like you are returning home to take back their birthrights. If you people want to make a change, come home and do the battle, aliens from Mars will not do it for you. As long as you decide to remain hopeless and do nothing about your condition, these people will continue to r.ape you and your resources at will. If you believe in a revolution, you need to come home and lead the revolution. You stand a better chance at making a difference from within. |
@Onlytruth, your tribalism appears to be pathological. I can't help you with that problem. You tribalism and c.ockyness will not let you see reason in Abagworo's post. When you are prepared to discuss issues rather than personalities and egos, I'll be here. Ogbanje, onye ocha. |
Katsumoto:Katsumoto, you are quite correct that I challenge angry and frustrated people who talk about seccession. These people have not learnt anything from the last seccession attempt that resulted in the death of millions of Nigerians. They, in their simplistic manner, call for seccession without giving much thought to the details and ramifications of such acts. I believe that the status quo is unacceptable. We need to review the constitution and design a better federal system, one that is unlike any other in the world, given the uniqueness of Nigeria. Well meaning Nigerians have already submitted proposals for the next set of constitutional amendments. The process has already begun and well meaning Nigerians should find a way to influence the decision makers instead of running arround like failed husbands calling for divorces, instead of tackilng difficult but solvable problems. Many of these seccessionists don't even know the names of their Senators or Reps., let alone, how to contact them. I challenge you to contact your senator or rep, discuss your concerns with him, and let us know his/her point of view. |
SapeleGuy:You need to educate yourself a bit, sharia has been practiced in the north without problems since 1960's at least. |
Onlytruth and the other ignoramuses attacking me without making any point, please read the following voice of reason by a sensible Igboman: Abagworo:Your tribalism has made you blind - what a pity! Onlytruth:Show your intelligence by focusing on issues rather than personalities, tribes, or anonymous user names. apo'da, as opposed to olodo. (meaning painter )@revolt, you need a refresher course in US history. Find out why they had a civil war, who lost/won, and how the country was recomposed after the war. Find out how the most marginalized group of people in the USA fought their way to occupy the position of the President of the USA. You'll note that no one gave them the position, just like no one will give an Igbo man the Presidency in Nigeria - the interested Igbo man will have to fight for the job. He'll have to negotiate with the rest of the southerners and convince them that Fashola, or some other Ijaw man will not make a better President come 2015. @Mariory, cantell : simpletons of a feather flock together. dan tselewa. @Onlytruth, why are you obsessed with revealing my name here? What if you found out that your compound, if you have one, is right next door to mine? ![]() |
presido1:I think the mission was very clear when JTF were sent to the creeks. I'm not sure that anyone in government is quite ready to nip this religious violence affair in the bud. |
Beaf:You've started your maradona dribbling and twisting again, ko? Criminal elements exist in every society and it is the responsibility of the government to protect its citizens from these criminal elements by taking appropriate actions. |
Onlytruth:It is the incompetence and inaction of the current government that is causing these senseless killings to reccur. They have the recommendations as to how to handle the issue. Interestingly, the Minister of Interior who was responsible for dealing squarely with this issue is non other than a hausa man, Major General Godwin Abbe, former Military Governor of Akwa Ibom State. |
any semblance of de breakup of naija, or talk of seccession dey sweet some people too much for here. for some of these people wey i no go name now, if dem hear the word "seccession", na woman voice wey dey talk say "come take 2 rounds for free" wey dem dey hear. dan iska kawai. |
Onlytruth:With your attitude, if Nigeria does not collapse, you stand to gain nothing for yourself and your people. You'd be well adviced to assume that Nigeria will not collapse and do everything in your power to make a positive contribution for coming generations. That is what Ojukwu is doing by participating fully in politics. I don't hear him and the rest of your leaders like Soludo, Kalu, and others sharing your doomsday views. |

Onlytruth:You are in denial. Your denial is a neccesary fuel to perpetuate your tribalistic activities. Even your dear Ojukwu, Ibori, IBB, OBJ, and countless others are part of the cabal. |
Onlytruth:Onlytruth, when are you going to get it in your skull that the cabal responsible for the demise of Nigeria come from North, East, West, and South? Let me refer you to a thoughtful post by a thoughtful Igbo, abagworo. Try to see what this reasonable and detribalized nairalander is saying, olodo. on a second thought,i think we have all been arguing stupidly.if niger delta is igbo,we gain nothing.if niger delta is ijaw,we cannot gain.if niger delta is efik still no gain.the so-called hausa and yoruba that are in control of the oil is a big lie.we are all suffering in naija.come to think of it,the northerners are the poorest nigerians. |
Beaf:If a US invasion actually happens, (the invasion may not be necessarily bad for Nigeria) I wonder what the Chinese response would be. |
