Let elections come 2027 and see how emilokan, apc will win again. Shebi they won in Edo. If Nigerians were normal people once they hear that name apc is it not 4 by4 abi 6 by 6 they should use to plank the person?
Anyway, if they like, they can make it 2k, we go survive, the only person I sorry for na my madam weh de drive v8 landcruiser to work daily, all her salary na petrol de chop am. Lol

What's station did you went to?
And no any action was taken about it?
Ok ohh..
Anyway, ladies should learn not to tie pregnancy on men. You know if you knack without contraceptive, collect pie cream the chances belle will enter is sure, why not atleast be on daily pills? They cost nothing!! Abi man cannot knack in peace again?
Anyway, one should see it as breakdown of morality in the our society. Why? Those days girls were scared of getting pregnant out of wedlock, the shame it will bring to their families, so they all used daily pills. Even if they got pregnant they will beg you to help them sort it out or they hide and go to proper hospitals to treat themselves. But now chicks will carry belle and give birth, proudly becoming single mama, or hoping to hook an unwilling fellow.

I bow for some women. Why not be on contraceptives or even take abortion pills in the early stage? Naa they will drink bitter lemon, ogogoro etc claiming it will flush pregnancy after knacking raw and collecting Ice-Cream.

Funkyswagzz:
Is dangote refinery a curse or a blessing to Nigerians cos this back and forth is getting too complicated. Why can't we do things without drama in this part of the world?
That is naija for you. As it is said we are too smart, the result is stupidity. They say if you want to know nigerians, give them a junction, there must be traffic blockage.
Other parts of the world refinaries will be built, price of product come down, currency will gain value, queues will disappear, but in naija, na the opposite. When Ukraine war started oil price went up, all oil producing countries started cashing out, Angola gained almost 50% value on its currency, lots of them in debt used the windfall to clear debts and build reserves. Amazingly, only naija instead gained nothing, infact our reserves diminished, cost of fuel went through the roof, oil theft increased.
One can argue that all this happened under apc, the cursed gang, because under pdp, Obj used the gulf War windfall to clear our foreign debts. Under Jonathan, he setup the excess crude account to save for the rainy day, but of course, fashola, elrufai and the other apc opposition "worbia" governors fought him to unbundle the money for spending.
Meanwhile Op, fuel is now 980 at nnpc stations in Lagos.

You are still quoting the wrong legal code though. The message in question was transmitted over a computer so what would instead apply is the CyberCrimes(Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) Act 2015 with Amendment Act 2024, section 24

Also, section 375 of the Criminal Code Act informs you that defamation is a misdemeanor meaning a misdemeanor warrant has to be contained from the courts to authorize the arrest. undecided
OK. Thanks.
We learn everyday.

I didn't hear anything from the video to help your argument. Maybe you did not accurately point to the particular part of what was stated. undecided

This issue is on the seemingly unjust arrest of this man carried out in response to a complaint. Well, I already posted that your law is clear that an arrest cannot take place if the case is civil unless a court order has been issued. Again, try to get yourself caught up on
► Part VII - Powers of the Police Officer of the Police Act 2020(particularly sections 31 - sections 39
► and Part 2 - Arrest, Bail, And Preventative Justice(particularly sections 3 - sections 18) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 undecided

Both describe clearly when arrests can be entered into as well as when they cannot by Law in Nigeria. undecided

2. In a country like Nigeria, it is quite possible that that is what happened. I mean we have seen the Nigerian Police Force turned into a gangster force/mafia against the citizens - used by the privileged against the less privileged, time and time again, in that country.
Oga, simple question, under section 375, Is defamation criminal or civil in Nigerian law?
Celebrities › Re: Very Dark Man Calls Out Burna Boy (Video) by nedekid: 5:02pm On Oct 08, 2024
Kobojunkie:
Learn to take your own advice next time! undecided

There are no such grounds since defamation cases remain civil cases until the courts determine them otherwise. You don't have the authority to demand a person be arrested merely on grounds of defaming you. Look for example at the Falana-VDM case. Falana knows he has no authority to get VDM arrested until after he has sued him in court and the courts decide whether or not VDM should be arrested.

Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act which you quoted DOES NOT say anything about an arrest. Rather, the grounds for which an officer of the law may arrest a person WITHOUT a court order are as stated in Section 38(1) of the Nigerians Police Act 2020 & Section 18(1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act . And these sections do not allow the sort of arrest described in this case.
As I wrote earlier, if he was arrested, that is the police acting on a complaint made against him ie investigations. Do you actually think burna will just go, grab some police and tell them to arrest akpi?

If you Nigerians don't even value una law, how do the dogs wey una get for government go take value am for where una dey? undecided
Bros, one should not be emotional about this. I am just saying what the law says, wither you or I agree with it is another matter. As for me, I certainly do not, but that does not change facts.
In this case as I said earlier it can be taken as a criminal or civil matter. A civil where you chose to sue eg falana. Remember in falanas interview on channels TV, he said he could have taking the other option but chose not to since he is currently leading the crusade with West African civil organisations on freedom of speach.
You could aso go the criminal route by drawing the attention of the police by the usual making a report and then the police investigates and the charges the offender to court.

By the provisions of Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act, any person who publishes any defamatory matter is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one year; and any person who publishes any defamatory matter knowing it to be false, is liable to imprisonment for two years.

Let the speed, or whatever his name is, take Burna to court. The police in this country are very useless. A person will walk up to them and ask them to arrest another person. They will say mobilize us and that's all it takes. They won't ask you what happened and see if a crime or a law has been broken.
Oga, there are laws passed by the national assembly, I think those laws have to do with cyber crimes including defamation bulling etc online. So there seem to be grounds for burna boy to involve the police. Of course he can go the route of informing his lawyer to sue speed Darlington. Also he also has the current option he took (which is also legal) to petition the police asking the police act to avoid public breakdown of law and order. The police will then investigate the petition and where it finds merit, then charges the offender to court for prosecution.
So in this case, sentiments aside, under the cyber laws, burna is within his right, it is not oppression but him following the right process.

Furthermore, there is no way a letter of administration could have been issued without your presence not just as the legal wife but also a child's mother. Worst still you would have been called to give your consent..
If you need a good lawyer to handle the matter, I will recommend a good chambers for you. Matured people that will handle your matter with all sense of responsibility.
Lawyers should not rush to court but first sort out through arbitration. Court in naija should be a last option.

As I always say, no spouse is worth your taking life and your going to jail. If you cannot put up with it walk, if you can, then stay.
It is likely he must have caught her once and then forgave so heavy trust issues will be there. That is not denying also some people have serious baggage they carry from previous experiences that then playout in current ones.
Na so I employ one lady many years ago in my bar, a place I visited once a week to do accounts. Every evening her fiance will land there and wait for her to close. Sometimes he will land in the afternoon and sit there with her all day till closing. One day as we were all doing accounts he came in, na so he came to sit with me and manager de talk story how the lady is precious to him, say na him pay this and that, funny story sha. Long and short, that day, I told the manager to discharge her, let her go and find work elsewhere. Me I no want wahala with jealous spouse.

Yes, I agree with you, most of the heavy money is linked one way or the other to corruption. Eg look at that ojo guy and his briefcase company earning 500m claiming to consult for the humanitarian ministry. All wealth without enterprise.

Oga, Israel has helped Chinese brands big time. Who in his right senses will buy eg motorola, Samsung, errikson? Their pagers, phones, walkie talkie? The US has shown history of sanctions and by this act by israel under US supervision has shown no boundary is beyond them even consumer goods.
The other day tesler cyber truck bought with hard cash was remotely disabled on the other side of the world. The owner had to tow it home, all because the US dislikes the owner. The other day, a presidents jet was seized because US placed sanctions on him. Jet he paid money for.
The Chinese have not showed history of meddling, rather they are for trade. I'd rather buy a Huawei, xiomi etc brand of phones, if I will buy an electric car, I'd rather buy a Chinese brand. Why? The supply chain is not compromised by the West.
Omo how are you sure the iPhone you own does not have a bug and bomb planted inside? Most are London, US, dubai and other places used. What if some of the used iphones were from Lebanon and the former owner was being targeted. That means one nkechi, Kemi minding their business would have had their heads blown off!

Bet how do you know it is corruption money? A wealthy fellow from the church that has no business with government, but simply eg a trader, and oil executive, a car dealer, Doctor etc can gift him the vehicle. A section of members eg men's fellowship, group of senior men can form a click to contribute towards a gift. In which case how much is a rolls? I know how much less than 20 of my paddies contributed and gave me during bereavement sometime back.
