The rate of corruption in this country is something else. My wife went to collect her passport today at Passport office in Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos and was told that they passport isn't ready yet.

She proceeded to request to see the passport controller of Egbeda passport office and imagine the controller has the audacity to be asking for bribe of 20k before the passport can come out within 10 days.

Corruption from top to bottom. If I wanted to spoil work for him, it's very easy for me. But that's a story for another day

Yes. I was denied on the 11th of this month, but my Departmental Chairperson sent me a Graduate Assistantship Offer Letter on the 18th of this month with 85% funding. It was 2022 I applied for admission but I deferred my admission to Fall 2023 because I could not get visa interview date in 2022.

Bro you could still reapply for a visa. By June ending, buy another MRV and then apply for emergency appointment. In the email you will send to the embassy as regards your emergency request, make sure you attach your funding letter, Sevis Fee, and other required documents

Interview time: 11.00 am

Although my interview was scheduled for 11 am, I didn't mind the time. I left my home by 4.30am and got to the embassy by 5.30am. I then relaxed a bit and went to join the queue. I stayed in the queue for over 3 hours before I was interviewed because of the crowd. I don't think the embassy uses the scheduled time because of the long queue.

Then it was my turn, the VO was a black American lady, quite chubby. She denied 2 person's before me.

VO: Pass me your passport and i20

Me: Here's it ma

VO: ooh, you are going for a Doctorate

Me: Yes ma

VO: have you been out of the country before?

Me: yes ma

VO: what's do you do?

Me: I'm a research assistant at China University of Petroleum, Beijing. My duties require me doing numerical simulation with the use of petroleum softwares such as CMG, Abacus, ANSYS.......""bla bla

VO: so you earn in what? Dollar or what?

Me: I earn in Reminbi ( she didn't understand so I said Chinese Yuan)

VO: how did you get this funding

Me: I submitted a competitive application and did lots of rigorous interview with my professor. I also knew my prof 2 years prior before my application, I did a research in which he was interested in and he reached out to me on LinkedIn after reviewing one of my papers.

VO: your program start date is 21st August

Me: Yes ma

VO: Remember you are only to enter the US within **bla bla* months (can't remember the month she said)of your start date, take this white paper and it will tell you how to receive your passport. (At this point she looked at my face and smiled)

Me: Thank you ma,

As I walked out, I nearly cried (tears of joy). Hard man like me

My visa was approved yesterday by the Lagos embassy

Do you live in Lagos? Don't even consider traveling to Taraba state. That is like a 2 day journey. The road to the state is even insecure. Just pick Alimosho if you're in Lagos. The earlier the better.

Please I want to apply for a passport for my woman. I will like to know which of the immigration office in Lagos can I get a faster appointment date if I make the payment online?

Someone suggested I go to immigration office in Taraba that I will pay, capture and collect same day but Taraba is very far for me

I am also having this same problem and I'm a first time applicant. I think many people that applied to Lagos embassy is having this same issue. I think we just have to wait until we receive an email from the embassy

Update from alausa center-

A lady captured January 6, collected her passport today 32pages 5years validity, via agent though.

I, being DIY, I captured December 22 2022, PCO asked I come today for collection but I am being told my file is missing by some collection officers, make I see PCO first before I activate the other side of me.

Update later

I also was at the passport office at Ikeja today and was told that my passport is not ready for collection. That only those that captured is December can collect.

I captured on January 4th this year though. It seems I will have to visit their office again to meet the PCO because I don't understand all this unprofessionalism

Mine is actually Oklahoma state university. I am not sure about the standard of living in Oklahoma city but you can make enquire about your school in Reddit because that how I know a lot about my school. Also note that your stipend will be taxed probably within $200 - $400 per month.

Good evening everyone, please my Nigerian passport will expire on November 2023. I went to Nigeria Immigration office today to renew my passport (capture) and they refused my request on the ground that my passport must have less than 6 month validity before I can renew.

Please is this supposed to be so. I'm quite worried because I will need it to travel by September 2023. Won't it affect my visa application and stamping if I wait till May to apply for a renewal bearing it in mind that it takes months to get the renewed passport in Nigeria?
