But if dangote cement is hoarding their product by creating scarcity in order to inflate the price. What about other cement makers like Elephant, Ibeto and others.

The difference in their price with Dangote cement is not more than #200.

Chekitaut:
Cement price hike, we should stop disturbing ourselves over it, Dangote is silent about it, no regulatory bodies on price control. There is this loading order call ATC mostly with Dangote, you can believe even without logistics the dealers claim there reason for price hike still sell the ATC @₦2900-3100. I think we are actually the reason we are where we are. Greed, Anarchy, Self-centred the reason we can not grow in Nigeria.

Do you realise far north cement is not sold @ the rediculious price sold in other part of Nigeria.

We go get sense last last.

Any possibility for the price dropping less than or equal to #3000 before the new year?

Please see below the cost of installation of borehole given to me for my koboko project after drilling. Only two pipes were put in the drilled holes as the guy said no need for casing or so from down. The depth is slightly above 110m

1) Pumping machine intadable 58 000
2 ) Tiger pipe 12. 45 600
3) cable wire 2 roll 16 000
4) rope 1 roll 8 000
5) socket 12. 2 400
6) gate Fab 1 1.000
7) cover 1 1,000
cool bushing 1 500
9) cellotape 5 500
10)l boo 3 600
Workmaship 15 000
Total . = # 148 000

Please assist me to review and advise.

Which pumping machine is #58000? I bought a semi submersible pump for my borehole project which I did early November 2020 for #30,000.

Which one is cable wire again? The semi submersible pump comes with the wire. The wire is even very long and you can't use all of it.

Which one is rope 8000? I bought rope for #3000 and less than quarter of it was even used.

How many casing pipe did he tell you that u need? Although for my own project 3 and half casing pipe was used and I have to return the remaining. I initially bought 7. The casing pipe I bought then cost #7000 per one for 5 inches. This casing pipe are the strong ones. Very original. Although there are lesser quality one for even #4000.

I advice you go to the market and buy your stuff yourself.

For a Bungalow, a structural design is not a requirement but it is good if you have one.
Now, a Bungalow does not require Pilling, even if it is in a Swamp.
The weight of a Bungalow cannot sink the building, in the worst Swamp, if you do a proper Foundation.
Sinking is caused when the weight of a Building exceeds the bearing capacity (Upthrust) of the soil.
The above can be tackled in three ways:
1) Increase the weight bearing capacity of the Soil, using a Pile Foundation (so that it sits on a layer of soil with better capacity, deep down in the ground)
2) Reduce the downward weight of the building (especially a Bungalow, which is already close to the threshold upward thrust capacity of the soil) by using lighter materials to build
3) More importantly, design the foundation is a manner that increases the foundation base of the building, to increase surface area and thus reduce its weight/downward pressure on the weak soil.

#3 is achieved by designing an INVERTED T- Raft Foundation.
Upthrust = Force/Area
Since the downward Force of the building is considered static/unchanging (total Weight of Bungalow), by increasing the area covered by the raft Foundation, you are reducing the Upthrust of the Floor, on the building and thus its carrying capacity, without a Pile Foundation.

If a Pile will cost you, #6M - #8M, if you get a good Engineer to do your Build, the Foundation l described above will save you a minimum of #3Million.
Contact an Engineer on this site, @Abdulwatecx, give him your build to do for you.
He is honest, reliable and good at his job. Yes, l can vouch for him
but l dont know if he is free right now..
I am trying to think of who else l can recommend but my memory is empty right now.
Dont try to do it yourself, you dont have the knowledge, dont use just a Bricklayer and you will be wasting money doing a Pile foundation for a Bungalow, its an over-kill.

BTW: I am not just saying this, l have put it into practice on a One Storey building, in the worst Swamp you can think of and the building is standing for over five years now. It has settled to its final state.

If you need a reliable bricklayer, let me know.

Thank you sir. I will consider your suggestion

Hi,

Let me try to breakdown what has been said.

You have an architectural plan for a bungalow and you are making plans to build. However, your land is a water-logged area I.e A swamp.

As such you shouldn't take structural advice for this kind of project from just anybody, so that you don't end up with regret.

The right thing to do is to consult a structural engineer, he'll head to the site to see for himself and he'll recommend that you do a soil test to ascertain the allowable bearing capacity of the soil and type of foundation that would work in that area.

After which the structural engineer would do the structural design and he'll be the one to estimate from the structural design the amount of rod you should buy.

Ooh. I now understand. Thank you very much sir

Bros,

Pls pause, infact STOP! and re-access cos you're getting it all muddled up.

You don't have structural plan yet you've been told you need a pile and pile is to prevent sinking.

Pls do a soil test, followed by a structural plan, before proceeding.

If indeed you need a pile (which your soil test will reveal), then this is no more a standard bungalow that usually doesn't require a structural plan and doesn't qualify anymore as kobokobo.

While all your points may turn out to be correct, it should be guided by technical facts and not "them-say".

Cheers

Sir, can you please explain to me in a simple term so that I can understand you clearly. I was told that piling will prevent the building from sinking due to the nature of the soil there. Or is it that bungalow doesn't require piling?

Piling? I think you’re doing it wrong.

You need an experienced engineer to guide you. But by the way, who recommends pilling for a bungalow? Where’s your location?

Piling is to prevent it from sinking because it's a swamp area

Firstly, the number of iron rods is much.
Secondly, it is not the duty of a welder to place the iron rods, it is a iron bender that is responsible for such.

How many will be needed. The foundation needs piling because it is a swamp area. So that the building doesn't sink in later years

Hi, I want to believe the building is (to be) on a WATER-LOGGED land? hence the use of so much Iron?
Even at that, 2 tonnes of 12mm in particular is not possible.

Chekitaut: thanks for the tag...

Yes. It's a waterlogged area. The piliing is to prevent the house from sinking because it's a swamp. How many rods do u think I will be needing?

Run for your life!
Consult a building iron bender not a welder.
Buy 10 lengths of y16 for the columns; 20 x y12 for lintel and 20 x y10 for stirrups and monitor how far they go.

Wow. Thank you. Will this be enough for a foundation that needs piling

1/4 of the quantity above should be more than enough.

1 length of 16mm iron rod will complete one column (pillar)

So how many length will I need for a foundation that needs piling and what diameter? How many no of rods do I need to buy
