I did WES transcript evaluation early last year so it was easier & faster for me to apply. I just paid $40 to WES to send the transcript to UIS.
barskaya:

for UIS ..How do you go about this requirement ?..."Students who apply to the University of Illinois at Springfield on or after July 1, 2019 and have international academic records must arrange (at their expense) to have their record(s) evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member organization. Our recommended evaluation service is World Education Services (WES)"

Good Day Great People, l have been following this tread and l have really got enlightened. Please, l got accepted at Western Illinois University (WIU) to study Master in Computer Science but got no funding, l was informed Graduate Assistantship is only available for returning student and will require approximately $24k. My profile, in my Undergraduate l study Electrical & Electronics Engineering, GRE - 304, CGPA - 3.79/ 5, no working experience. My question is that is it still possible to get funding, l also want to know if l can try getting to the school in USA and sponsor myself for 1st semester is there a high chance of me getting funding second semester, lastly is the school a good school. Thank you for all your kind responses in anticipation.

Funding depends on your department. The GC in my department said they don’t give funding to entering students. But someone else got GA from her department. So you should contact the GC in yours. I’ve been admitted for Fall too.

Hi everyone,
I'd like to seek the assistance of anyone here who can help me pay an application fee of $30 payable to University of Western Illinois through a check or money order (the school doesn't accept credit cars) and I'll be reimbursing the equivalent via Western Union, your Nigerian bank account or any other means comfortable for you.

In the name of God & giving back to my community (my root) irrespective of the status of anyone, I will be paying application fees for at least 5 different students (For now; Graduate students only). Below is the release of the criteria for this selection.
These are for the students targetting Fall of 2020.

Few Criteria:
Must be a STEM Course (Google meaning of STEM if it is a new word to you)
The undergraduate course must in a way be related to the applied graduate course.
The University/College must be at least within reputable, not community college.
Must be able to show a GRE score (the actual score itself isn't relevant to me, but must be an average score)
Must be enrolling for Fall (August 2020)
The application fee must not exceed $60 (Only 5 students are on my budget for now)
First come first serve basis based on complying with the Criteria.

I WILL NOW SAY Good Luck.

I can’t really remember again, but I think 7 days after they receive & verify your transcript.

Good Morning guys, Please, how long does it take for WES to complete an Evaluation?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Neeta02(f): 9:57am On Oct 01, 2019
Start by searching for schools on google. Google is your friend grin check the schools requirements. Some schools will require you to evaluate your university transcript to US standard through WES. Some will require you to send the transcript to them directly without evaluating it. The thing is check their requirements
For the exams, you need to take GRE & TOEFL & ace them, but some schools waive TOEFL for Nigerians since English is our first language. These exams will help you get scholarships or GA position if you get good scores.
For the list of schools, like I said earlier google is your friend. Also on this thread you’ll see schools people applied to & got funding too.
For funding opportunities, once you ace your GRE & sometimes TOEFL, you can get a graduate assistantship position which waives all/part of your tuition, it depends though. All you need to know is on this thread, patiently read through it.
vocalprince:
Good Morning everybody and Happy New Month to you all.
Please I am very sorry if my question sounds very Awkward. I tried to start from Chapter one of this thread but I couldn't find where there is a total breakdown of procedures and how to find schools in USA. My brothers and sisters, I am so so tired of this country and would appreciate any help whatsoever. I am a graduate of Parasitology and Entomology with a Cgpa above 4.0. I plan to further my education in Public Health, Or any Health Related course Even MBA. Now my questions.

1) How do I start?
2) What and what do I need to get?
3) I am ready to write any exam but which is better?
4) How do I get the List of schools?
5) Schools with good funding opportunities?
Please, it's OK if you want to finish me before answering me but still try to answer me. Na me need the help.

Best Regards.

With Love from Illinois...

My Visa was approved on the 2nd of August.

Scholarship $13,000
Deficits 17,0000

VO .. So why are you going to the Northern Illinois University?
Me: Coupled with the funds which covers my Tuition, NIU will give me the opportunity to have a double degree, ..
VO: Hold on, Types for a long time and tells me to proceed.
Me: A Masters degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a Masters degree in Logistics and Operations. Most interesting to me is the fact that the course structure emphasizes on Lean Manufacturing, Large Scale Optimization, Process Optimization and Industrial Automation.
VO: What did you study for your UG?
Me: Electrical Engineering
VO: What is your current role?
Me: I work as a business analyst, basically communicate with the Technical, Finance and Human Resource Managers to collect sufficient data to help in outlining the problems, opportunities and solution to help them in making informed decisions.

Me: actually, He is not just an uncle to me, he is an inspiration. Inspired me to get the Chevron scholarship, the NYSC states award as best Corp Member, built my career from ground zero to a point where I'm been invited to speak at functions across the country, was part of the 50 man planning committee for the Senate,
My uncle knows I'm very promising and knows the Return on Investment this degree will fetch me.
VO: I'll be approving your Visa. You'll need this at the point of entry...

@Drakales @fairheart and all who reached out to me , I cannot say how much grateful I am.
I was denied in Lagos, Inspire hundreds of people daily but could barely inspire myself to take that long journey to Abuja.

I have a lot to say to the Spring 20 and Fall 20 hopefuls.

Brown 2 Green has both been denied and approved. So he knows what both feels like.

God Speed to those on AP, God's speed to those waiting on the Visa.

Peace.

My Transcript

Visa approved at Lagos Embassy, 30th July 2019

School: Clarkson University

Funding: 66,000$ (Tuition and stipends)

Course : Msc Chemical Engineering

This was my 9th attempt, 7 in Lagos, 2 in Abuja

Here is my today's visa transcript:

V.O: (Looked at my i20) I see you have a teaching assistantship, what will you be teaching?

Me: I will be assisting prof. ... in grading students papers, invigilating test and exams, other teaching duties will be assigned upon resumption

V.O: what was your undergraduate Major?

Me: chemical engineering

V:O Where do you work and what's your duties?

I currently work as a process engineer at D***y Industries Limited and stated my duties

V.O: (Started typing for a long time and checking his system, he was shaking his head too and my mind was beating fast.) He asked, have you travelled outside the country before?

Me: Yes, I have been to Ghana

V.O: is it by flight or road and how many times

Me: I travelled by road and that was sept last year and came back same month

V.O: (Went to meet another V.O, he stayed there for like 4mins, I don't know what they were discussing). After he came back, he asked... What's your plans after graduation?

Me: Upon completion of my masters degree, I will be resuming a new position at my current place of work as a senior process engineer and I am going to be on a paid study leave (I brought out the letter, he saw it and said he doesn't need it, I pushed my letter back to my file).

V.O: (Typing for a very long time and checking stuffs on his system) you have been to Abuja embassy last time, what transpired there?

Me: During my last interview, the V.O wasn't convinced that I am a credible student and hence I was refused. I have come to demonstrate my credibility as a student, I wrote GRE and scored 324, had a good grade (1st class) and believe i definitely do very well during my masters studies at Clarkson University. (He nodded)

V.O: (Started typing again and checking stuffs on his system), You applied for safety science at Embryl Riddle Aeronautical University in 2017, why the switch to chemical engineering (For my mind, e don come again o)

Me: That's was when I finished my National Youth Service and was working with a firm so i needed to increase my safety knowledge but since I changed place of work and now dealing with chemicals, I needed to develop knowledge in the area of chemical catalysis and plasma processing which will be needed when I resume a new position at my place of work. (He nodded)

V.O: Do you have anybody in USA?

Me: No, I don't have anybody

V.O: (Typed for ages, for like 2mins and was checking his system, my mind was beating fast. He took my passport and those blue papers, I was like it's finished, another refusal. Immediately he brought out the white paper and circled a location, then said the golden words) YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED, then passed my i20 and sevis receipt

Me: collected my i20 and shouted Thank you sir!!! I ran out of the embassy and people were shouting what is it, I was running till i reached where I entered cab to my house cos it was like a dream or like i was watching a movie.

That's it... I saw God's favour today

SHARWAMA'S APPROVED VISA TRANSCRIPT.
Date: June 7, 2019
Venue: Lagos Consulate
Time:6:30 a.m
Gender of VO: Male
Window: I Didn't notice, I was blown away by his cuteness and jerry curl grin grin grin
Ok it was the second to last window, before the exit door.
I: (Smiling) Good morning sir
V.O: Good morning, please pass me your passport and your I-20.
I did and he was like "please push your passport a little bit further". I pushed it and asked, "is it okay now sir?"
VO: Yes it is. Why are you going to the US
I: (deep breath + killer smile) To uhm, pursue a masters degree in Biology, Biomedical Science Concentration at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City Tennessee.
V.O: Why this degree?
I: I really want to work as a research scientist at a renowned biomedical research Institute here in Nigeria. Unfortunately, a masters degree in Biology or a closely related field is the minimum requirement for such a position. So this degree would not just help me hone my research skills or build my critical thinking, it would qualify me for the position I really want, when I return.
V.O: So why did you pick this school?
I: (Gesticulating with magical hands) For me, it wasn't just about the generous funding I received, which I am extremely grateful for by the way, it had a lot more to do with the student-faculty relationship I have built with my potential supervisor, professor Burna boy. We Skyped a couple of times and we have chosen a thesis topic I am super excited about.
V.O: What other schools did you apply to?
I: I applied at Texas A&M University, Commerce
VO: uhum(while typing)
I: Cleveland State University Ohio and Kansas State University Manhattan Kansas.
VO: Have you travelled out of the country before?
I: I have not had the need to sir.
VO: Are you married
I: No sir
V.O: You said you have funding, let me see the evidence
I: My school did not give me an official letter but it's on the I-20(I pointed at the document so he looked at it)
V.O: Ok I see $9590 to be payed by someone ,who is this?
I: That's my mum sir
V.O: What does she do?
I: My mum is a business woman, she sells African fabrics and traditional bridal attires
V.O: Yes do you have any proof, I want to see evidence.
I was confused and he mentioned "or bank statement"
I: (Killer smile)Yes, with all pleasure. Just a moment please.
So I got the bank statement
V.O(while looking at the statement) Doesn't your mum have other children to sponsor in school?
I: (I never expected that question, so my English technically failed me, so I looked at him and answered) All of us have finished school, it remainder two of us.
I was so embarrassed about my grammatical blunder but I was glad he understood the point, we were all done with school except two of my siblings.
V.O: Ok, I will be approving your Visa. He hands me the white paper. Talked about pick up in three working days, gave me back my SOA and I-20, asked me to keep it carefully and I would need the latter at the port of entry... Told me to have a wonderful day
I: (Killer smile) Thank you and have a wonderful rest of the day too.
Yup, I bounced out of the building grin
THE END grin grin grin

Very smooth interview. Big congratulations
Curious101:
Hello guys ! My visa was granted , here’s my transcript.

My interview was supposed to be in August 2018 at the U.S embassy ABJ,but on the day of the interview ,I went to the embassy And to my greatest surprise the embassy told the securities to tell us they were on strike and anybody with any urgency should go to the Lagos consulate ( although I’ve traveled all the way from Lagos and there was no mail from the embassy about the apparent change).i looked at positive side of it and went home , although I couldn’t go to the Lagos Embassy because there wasn’t enough time until my school resumes , so I had to wait for fall 2019. Long story short , I scheduled my interview for Jan 17 2019 .

It was the morning of my interview and I had prayed fervently and fasted and also was very nervous as hell but I didn’t stop believing.
Time for my interview and the person Interviewing me was a black thin lady who wasn’t smiling at all .;(
* still very nervous, wasn’t confident at all *

V.O : good morning, let me have your ppt and I.20
Me: * passes it * “good morning” * with a crooked smile on my face *
V.O: So were in California are you going

Me: California State University Bakersfield

V.O To do what

Me: to obtain bachelors degree in criminal justice and law enforcement administration.

V.O; what did you do after sec sch edu .

ME: I did a diploma in political science at the university of Benin and afterwards went for a compulsory industrial training.

V.O: why didn’t you pursue a bachelors in the course you studied instead of criminal justice.

M.E; (freaks out a little , said something I don’t even remember)

V.O: * asked the question again *

Me: well i don’t know if it’s allowed to bring ones family problems to a visa interview, but here it goes ; in 2015 my mum was kidnapped and was almost killed, they were like plenty ways for the police to catch these people and save my mum but they didn’t because of the lack of literacy And technology we have at the Nigerian police force.
I’m pursuing the career in criminal justice and law enforcement administration not only to get involved with the shaping of crime policy in Nigeria but also to expose Nigeria to a technology based systems to catch criminals and bring them to Jistice .
V.O: * was nodding with a smile and was typing so fast too *
Felt a huge relief in my heart , then she brought the almighty white paper out and held my bank statement to confirm if it was original. p.s my aunty was sponsorer btw.
I couldn’t go in spring cos my visa came out late , it’s the schools fault though ?they didn’t send my 1.20 on time and now I’ll have to wait for fall ( a whole 8 months in this Naija ).
I just want to thank God and everyone that dropped their transcript here , I learnt a lot from you all and I’m so grateful. And to all the professors in the house , I’m sorry for the blunders and the improper use of my grammar and punctuations , I’m not perfect .
And I’m also open to making new friends, if you’re in California and would like to be friends when I come please HMU.
