I choose to call this an adventure due to the security situation in the country today. Travel safe bro. Onlinefarmstore: So after four months of being grounded due to lack of security clearance from the advance team, I finally stubbornly decided to go to Maiduguri via road as the cost of the flight was too expensive and it didn't make financial sense to me.
So this is a live update of my journey as I proceed on my trip.
Note I didn't follow through Enugu but rather via Asaba.

Kudos AkwaCross. Hunchogee: Ferry Services To Alleviate Suffering Of Commuters Along Calabar-Itu Just like Ibomair and Callyair.. AkwaCross on the beat again A picture of Calabar- Itu Road Marine investors in Akwa Ibom and Cross River have woken up to the challenge facing commuters from both states travelling through the Calabar Itu federal highway.
For more than 15 years now, travelling along the 45 year old road has been a nightmare to commuters, with some spending hours or sleeping on the road.
Many burials, wedding, traditional marriages and other appointments have been cancelled or postponed as the main actors are caught up in the perenial congestion along the road.
Many lives have been lost along the road with professors from the University of Calabar topping the list of notable personalities who died on the road.
The federal government of Nigeria has paid lip service to the rehabiltation or reconstruction of the road, rather contractors are usually mobilised to the road as each general election approaches.
Before the deplorable condition of the road, the journey from Calabar to Uyo which is about 100 kilometres used to take an hour but today the fastet record when there is no traffic congestion is four hour.
The road is littered with broken down trucks as craters dot every kilometre of the highway which has unleashed heavy economic toll on the two states and commuters using the road.
Last week, Ibom City Ferries announced plans to commence scheduled Ferry service from Oron, in Akwa Ibom State to Calabar, Cross River State with effect from December 2021.
The Managing Director of Ibom City Ferries, Mr Larinde Williams stated that the service is expected to change the landscape of travel in the state.
Williams continued that to further the commitment to help promote water transportation in the state as an effective, fast and safe alternative to road transportation, Ibom City Ferries will commence its ferry operations from Oron to Calabar from December.
The managing director explained that the company will be deploying a 50 seater passenger ferry, complete with modern facilities, i.e. Wifi, Air Condition, phone charging ports, toilet and bar, The service which will run daily between Oron and Calabar, will also include scheduled tour services from Le Meridien Marina to Calabar which will help improve travel and tourism between Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers states.
In a similar development, DMOI Smooth Travels, operators of Cally Express has announced that the company is set to commence operations in December 2021 to commemorate the yuletide season.
According to the Chief Operating Officer of DMOI, Mr. Michael Odiong, “the need to create a convenient, safe and secure water transportation system cannot be overemphasized. It is our own way of creating a positive impact on the economies of both states, providing employment, increasing wealth and creating a healthier environment by reducing pollution. take off the pressure from both state governments. We are creating a safer alternative to reduce the time spent on the road by commuters and reignite the perennial relationship that the two states shared on the water ways.
Odiong explained that this is a PPP venture with the Cross River state government to help ease the transportation problem experienced by indigenes of both states.
We are committed to a great service delivery and fun experience for commuters. This seeks to provide employment for the citizenry, create awareness and increase activities of small and medium scale businesses, Odiong stated.
To further prove our commitment, Odiong continued, our team had held meetings with host communities on the coastal route to fashion out modalities for cooperation. We have also built our own jetty in both states with a fully functional car park, security, and an air-conditioned waiting room.
Our booking App will be functional by January 2022. Our jetty is located at Obutong beach in Calabar which is 5 minutes away from Watt market and 15 minutes from the airport while our Uyo jetty is at Ifiayong, Nwaniba, 10 minutes from Ibom plaza, announced Odiong.

Politics › Re: Lists Of Other IOC Operating In Akwa Ibom State Other Than Mobil… Priority by nesphil(m): 4:05pm On Aug 04, 2022 |
I don't agree with you on the following points: 1. Eket is not the most developed city in Akwa Ibom State, Eket is not more developed than Uyo. 2. Ibeno doesn't have more GDP than Uyo. 3. Ikot Ekpene is not more serene than Uyo. 4. Onna does not have more good roads than Uyo. 5. Eket does not have more hotels than Uyo. I know you're from Ibeno, and I don't think you really know Uyo very well . Hunchogee: There is this misconception of calling Akwa Ibom people Calabar people, unfortunately, that same misconception is the reason some gullible feel Akwa Ibom has only Mobil as its blue-collar job provider and I wonder can only Mobil produce 600k barrels of oil a day? The question is who are those other oil companies operating in the state that jointly produced 300k of oil a day to make Akwa Ibom state the highest producer of oil and gas in Nigeria? Guys, indeed there are things a lot of Nigerians don’t know about Akwa Ibom state and it’s a pity because most of them don’t do research, they only talk out of emotions. I’m here to correct all those misconceptions about Akwa Ibom state ..
General Facts to know about Akwa Ibom State:: - Akwa Ibomite are not Calabar people because Calabar is a name of a city, not an ethnic group rather Akwa Ibom is a state that comprises Ibibio, Annang, Oro, Ekid , Ibonos, and Obolo people …
- Akwa Ibom state population for 2022 as projected is 7.4milllion people and it’s evenly distributed across the state .. - Ibeno is the richest of all LGA in Akwa Ibom because it has a higher GDP. - Eket is the most developed city in Akwa Ibom state - Eket has no oil company and doesn’t share boundaries with the ocean (meaning it has no beach) - Akwa Ibom white sand bar beach is in Ibeno and Eastern Obolo towns. - Eket houses more than 200 services companies even more than Uyo.. - Onna LGA currently has the best road network in Akwa Ibom state - Ikot Ekpene is the most beautiful city in Akwa Ibom state with its serene environment and beauty. - Eket has more hotels than Uyo. Ibeno has more oil companies than any other oil-bearing town in Akwa Ibom state. - Ikot Abasi houses more historical tourist sites than any other city in Nigeria. Those are a few facts about Akwa Ibom people don’t know.
: List of oil companies operating in Akwa Ibom state and its location or town: 1. Exxonmobil: location- Ibeno, workforce- 6k ( 3k employees, 1k contracts staffs, 5h contractors, 5h projects staff, 3h third parties, and 1.7k services Staffs) Akwa Ibomites are 60% of this workforce.
2. Total E&F: Location- (offshores Ibeno ) workforce 800 workers. Akwa Ibomites account for 60% of the workforce ..

Note: they are more than 13 oil companies operating in Akwa Ibom and over 500 services companies too. So guys have listed them out and their location let stop insulting Akwa ibom about only having Mobil in reality after Lagos, Rivers and Ogun no state is as industrialize as Akwa ibom , the only difference is that we don’t concentrate our industries around the capital Uyo. This industries are evenly spread across the state , leaving uyo quiet and serene .. 2.
