Career / Re: Is 13th Month Salary Taxable by Nevee: 7:51am On May 22, 2018
Your 13th month salary is an earned income so it is very much taxable. Same with your wage/bonus/allowance for working overtime. This may seem to betray common sense as some people on this thread have argued, but Taxation is about laws and principles and not what should or what ought to be.

However, you’re entitled to certain consolidated relief allowances which are tax deductible. Your contribution of 2.5% of your gross salary for the National Hoising Fund, 5% of your gross salary for NHIS, 8% of your gross emoluments (basic salary, housing and transport) as your pension contribution etc.

Oga Jarus may have one or two professional opinion on this as a tax expert.

Gracias!

I don’t know what this guy forgot in Ekiti State Government House that justifies this shameful act that reeks of nothing but greed. He’s trying to eat his cake and have it. He shoulde be compelled to resign his office as a Minister before proceeding to contest elections that he may never win.

“Once beaten, twice shy”. No be for Naija politicians.

Another empty threat from these set of overfed weaklings. IGP Idris knows better.

This 8th Assembly is at best a toothless bulldog that can only bark and not bite. Not surprised tho, their hands are soiled and they cannot come to equity with such soiled hands.

Osinbajo the ceremonial VP. Other than deeming it necessary to attend every function you’re invited and making more empty promises as well as apportioning blames, I’m finding it hard to accurately state your achievement as the vice or that of your boss who, perhaps, would have been better off being a travel blogger. Your executive orders on the ease of doing business are yet to have any meaningful impact on the average Nigerian living below 360 NGN per day. Yet, you are accorded all the opulence, perks and luxuries that true leaders of some advanced countries don’t even get.

You people don’t know what it means to sit down somewhere and come to terms with the reality that you were given a mandate to serve over 180 million people and not just the few that surrounds you. But they know how to block a whole 3rd Mainland bridge for you on a Monday evening over 30 minutes before your arrival, all in the name of being protected from those you govern.

My heart bleeds more for those who will come here to make excuses for the failures and incompetence of your administration.

Remember, “nothing lasts forever”.

Politics / Re: Buhari’s 2nd Term Will Be Similar To How He Operated In 1984 – Sagay by Nevee: 8:38am On Apr 16, 2018
Lol why 1984? Why not “how he operated from 2015-2019”?

The tragic part is that this man may win, come 2019.

A power-drunk that is just as corrupt as those he claims to be fighting.

May Nigeria be redeemed from the hold of these destroyers.

Sir could you kindly answer my question.
Lol! I'm no sir, sir. I had asked a question much earlier too with no response yet.

However, I'll answer your questions with my own little knowledge of the industry. You'd be out of school at 22/23, with a degree in Finance, ceteris paribus. That's not bad at all. Try all you can to make a minimum of a 2.1, this is very key. While in school, maximize your free time and holidays by going for internships at banks or other relevant institutions. Lastly, work towards having your ICAN/ACCCA/CFA or qualifications from other relevant bodies. The standards are high these days. All the best!

This looks good in terms of best practice and even staff welfare. Case in point: Citi, Stanbic and Stan Chart.

Some indigenous banks have tainted the banking industry lately. Developments like this would (gradually) overhaul the system.

believe in God, there is nothing he can't do.
Congrats, brother!

Very soon, we'll get over the euphoria of the results and here will be awashed with comments like "I studied Chemical Engineering but I want to write ICAN. My non-accounting background scares me". Well, subsequently, all we have to do is to refer you to this guy right here.

Here is someone who has no accounting background, not even that of Management Sciences, to say the least (otherwise, he would have qualified for exemptions and need not write 5 papers for the first stage).

But you know what? He took it all in his hands. Sat all papers for each stage at once and consecutively and passed ALL at once. Truth be told, grads of Accounting (and other related courses) rarely pull this stunt!

This is much laudable. Congratulations!

You will no doubt inspire a lot with this, in no small measure.

One more question, If someone is to write the foundation exam and pass, can it be included in the CV or must the person pass all the exams
Well, it all depends on you and the extent of your confidence in defending whatever you state on your C.V.

You may state that you are a student member of the body on your C.V. If time and space permits, go further to list the courses taken and elaborate on those that relate to the role you're applying for.

This is just my opinion.

Good day Sir. I want to apply for ICAN but I'm not yet through with my youth service. Will it be possible to apply now or do I need to have my discharge certificate?
Good afternoon sir. You don't need your discharge certfifcate to register for ICAN. As a matter of fact, I registered and wrote my first ICAN exams while awaiting NYSC mobilization.

So jump up, register and go slay ICAN.

All the best!

Lol this is not crowd now, they still left a part of the road for other motorists to pass. Come to Lagos where you have to queue with those buying fuel even if you aren't buying because they've completely blocked the road.

Meanwhile, yesterday, a driver was telling me about how he had to pay #500 to join queue for fuel at one of the filling stations along Ikorodu road. Fuel that it is not certain you will eventually get to buy. And yes, mobile police officers were the ones in charge.

I always imagine God sitting on the throne and shaking his head for this failing country. We don't suffer major natural disasters. We have oil such that we don't have to even over work ourselves. All we have to do is just manage it well and we'd be fine. But look at where we are today.

We can spend the next 10 years fasting and praying for Nigeria, nothing will change. All our problems are human induced.

God don really try for us, we are not the only one.

Politics / Re: No Fuel Scarcity, Stakeholders Just Hoarding Products - APC Says by Nevee: 6:44pm On Dec 22, 2017
Is this a country?

The average Nigerian accepts that the government has failed and has no plan for him so he strives unnecessarily harder and relies on alternatives for his daily essentials. He depends on his generator for power, he digs his borehole for water and builds an overshadowing fence around his bungalow for security.

Transport fares have more than doubled, workers are being owed tens of months in salaries. Now think of hundreds of SMEs that would halt production because there is no fuel at a time that should be their peak period (where the festive period should drive demand). Think of the jobs that'd be lost. Tech companies that are engines of growth in other economies are shutting down in Nigeria. Not too long ago, Konga sacked over 70% of it's workforce, efritin.com folded up, Businesses like Innoson's are being strangled and gasping for air, Manufacturers are moving their plants to neighbouring countries like Ghana.

Meanwhile, somewhere in China, a road with solar panel is being constructed to charge electric vehicles. It would also be connected to the national grid to remit excess power generated. Now, that's change. You have to always prepare yourself to respond to changes in your environment. It's either you get in or get out, you can't stay over the fence. Nokia learnt this the hard way.

But it doesn't end there. Once you make a genuine attempt to help the nation and do what is right, you are seen as an enemy. Ask Sanusi, ask Kachikwu (of recent).

Yet, all we may have to offer in 2018 is Buhari vs Atiku. Perhaps, we deserve the kind of leaders we get.

I share my boss' opinion who said you have not started living until you have the chance to go outside Nigeria (of course, to a more developed economy).
