All these reactions and counter reactions are at best distracting us from facing the core problems that have brought Nigeria to it’s knees. Now, how does this improve the life of the Average Nigerian still living below $1 dollar per day?

We should learn to let sleeping dogs lie and more importantly, the essence of tolerance as it relates to our religious and cultural differences, and most importantly, that humanity is our first and primary religion. All others, I believe, are secondary.

Well said. However, PDP isn’t posing a threat with those jostling to be its flag bearer? Is it Adejare Bello or the dancing senator? And how Aregbesola transformed Osun with so many projects, that they wouldn’t forget soon.

It will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle much more than PDP winning Osun gubernatorial elections.

Sadly, All these are initial “gra gra” that may all end here. A tanker tripped over the Ojuelegba bridge, people died and not even one statement from just the state government to avoid reoccurrence. In saner climes, that was enough to shutdown the state for a whole day till the government resolves to do something tangible. About one week after, this happened today. Some people are happy they were able to escape and that is where it ends. The ones that couldn’t escape deserved to die yeah? People will still wake up and go to work tomorrow like nothing happened, we are past it “sharp-sharp”. No demonstrations, no protest. Truth is nothing will ever change in this country until we take the change into our hands. Let’s shut down this country for even a day, let’s march as one to challenge these failures in form of leaders. God bless Fela! Yes, there maybe bloodshed but it would be the last. If not, this people will keep sending the masses to their untimely graves. It was Plateau few days ago, Ojuelegba last week, tanker fire today, you could be the casualty of the next fatality. Let us pelt them with stones and let them know how it feels to bleed. Even the son of the President got flown to Germany for an accident due to his recklessness. Lol can we fly these victims to Germany too now? Yet, some of you are already campaigning for Buhari, Atiku and our common enemies again, God will judge you! I always laugh when some criticize the people who leave the so called “well paying” jobs here to relocate to saner countries. Well, some of those trapped in this inferno had those high paying jobs were going back home after the day’s work but are not more now because the government simply does not value their lives. Nigeria is a failed state. Your dreams and aspirations are like the right seed, but no matter how good those seeds are, once they are planted on the wrong soil (like Nigeria), they will never germinate. If you so have the chance to leave, pls do. That’s the best legacy you can guve to your children. That’s one mistake your politicians don’t make, they and children have passports and express entry to these countries. Should anything go wrong, all they need to buy is their flight tickets and they are all off, leaving the commoner to be the sufferer.

Nigerians, God is waiting for us to act. At least, let’s not disappoint Him. It’s our responsibility to right the wrongs. We need a revolution. Let’s hit the streets!

I agree with you to some point, but to say Oyinlola incurred a lot of debt with nothing to show for it is mischievous. His total debt unpaid as at when he left was around 14billion naira, yet he left around 6billion in the coffers of the state. He built a multi campus university with the salary structure 1% better than federal universities. He built the second best NYSC orientation camp in Nigeria. In Osogbo alone, he dualized the Olaiya - Akoda road and the Oke - fia - Omobolanle road (that I know of). He was the one that started the school feeding program (ounje and tea oyin) for which Aregbe has been blowing his own trumpet. His investment into human resources is unprecedented. He never owed salaries and allowances and promotions are always timely. The six mini stadia for which he borrowed the said loan would have been completed if not for his ouster. I am not excusing his many failures but then, he contributed his part without throwing us into debt for another four decades.

Brother, you have put forth tenable points. How do you explain Oyinlola’s 18.38 billion naira loan from UBA just few months before the court sacked him? Quite suspicious, isn’t it? He was dragged to an investigative panel where he, to a large extent, agreed to mismanaging some of these funds. Well, we still hailed him for accepting his faults because that is what “responsible leaders” do. Out of this loan, 430 million naira was disbursed to build Radisson Blu hotel without following due process, 1.5 billion naira to an almost non-existent free trade zone. Well, he blamed the court for sacking him as he would have gone after the company (lol). Do you know in just few months prior to Aregbesola’s victory, Oyinlola had spent 10 of the 18 billion naira loan and he agreed to this. And for most of the transactions, there were no legal trails as they did not follow due process. Mind you sir, this was at a time global oil price was at his debt. States were getting monthly allocations at the right amount and as and when due. Asides, the University and orientation camp, of what direct benefits are Oyinlola’s project (like WOCDIF) to the suffering Osun populace? Roads? Pls don’t go there sir! Whenever I come home and I use the bridge around Abere to link Ebunoluwa to Ofatedo, straight down to Lameco and Stadium to continue my journey, my soul blesses God. How about the Osogbo-Ikirun road currently being expanded into 4 lanes? And the Gbongan-Akoda road? And to think, a lot of these projects are still present in almost all local governments in Osun. Roads, schools, name it. Were in the world does a state develop by sharing money to some random persons in the state as Oyinlola used to at “gbagede oro”. Meanwhile, at the time Akande built the Governor’s office at Abere, it was arguably one of the best in West Africa, so we heard. Oyinlola rode on the sentiments of Osun people to become a governor- at a time Akande had sacked some workers.

Osun is predominantly a civil service state with over 40, 000 work force, slightly lower than Lagos’ and this is what Aregbesola is changing. It isn’t surprising that some of them that I call the bad eggs have a poor attitude to work. I have had so many experiences at Abere where the personnel who was supposed to attend to me rudely told me to wait as he wanted to see where the African Magic movie she was watching would end and I was interrupting. How about the teachers that go to class with the beans she sells for the students to help her pick. These are people I know. Yet, you dare not sack them, else they’d be up in arms. These are things you dare not do when Akande was governor. Don’t forget Osun has a monthly wage bill of 3.6 billion naira with a monthly allocation hovering around 1.6 to 2 billion naira. It doesn’t take a prophet to know issues would come up. When the going was good, workers were getting their full salaries at the right time plus 13th month. 100, 000 youths were employed within his first 100 days under the O-YES scheme which Ogun ditto Oyo later used as a template for theirs.

Isn’t it surprising that Peter Power was just a Chief of Staff, Adejare Bello was just the Speaker, Omisore was just a Senator? Yet, the affluence and flamboyance of these thieves would pass for that of an Otedola.

I still strongly believe APC would coast to victory in this next elections. I just hope they get it right with whoever they elect as the flag bearer of the party. Omisore and co have been retired in Osun politics. That they refuse to accept this fate is their headache. Osun is past politics of bitterness and thuggery. Everyone now seems to be interested in governing Osun, Aregbesola has made it attractive that they probably think governing Osun will be a walk in the park. I can count tens of aspirants already (lol). Quite impressive how Aregbesola is still insisting he has no preferred candidate at the next elections.

Yes, Osun is developing and those who know what Osun used to be some ten years ago will not agree less.
Last I checked, debt isn’t bad at all. Economists even argue in favour of incurring debts, provided such debts are expended on the right projects. In this case, I dare say if the present Osun government is owing, it has done so on the right projects. Oyinlola incured a lot of debt too with virtually nothing to show for it. It is not surprising that U.S, China, Japan and Germany top the list of countries with the highest debt profile.

P.S: I am not exonerating Aregbesola of any form of mismanagement typical of Nigerian politicians. If he is found wanting in any way, he should ne brought to books. That said, he has brought a new dawn to Osun and arguably, he is the best governor Osun has had yet.

Honestly, Lasun doesn’t come off to me as one who is at least capable of sustaining the development Osun is currently witnessing. This is a critical time in Osun’s history. We can’t afford to go back to the days Oyinlola, Adejare Bello and Peter Power would sit under “abe igi anu” to stab our monthly allocation, most likely under the influence of Beer and pepper soup, only for Oyinlola to wake up the next morning (still with a hangover) to share the leftovers and breadcrumbs to a negligible part of the suffering populace at “gbagede oro” with very deep Yoruba proverbs running freely from his mouth. No thanks to his thick Okuku accent either! The days highend criminals like Sunday Igboho were accorded royal treatments as political thugs and tools of the so called government. Never again, my people!

Irregardless of party affiliations, may God give us his own appointed governor that will expedite our journey to the promise land. Osun deserves the best, and the best, we will get, by God’s grace.

Well...nothing spectacular for a former top executive of Chevron, the defunct Texaco (now MRS) and Fidelity bank. I am not exonerating him of any possible mismanagement of public funds though. Our politicians are not to be trusted after all. They loot to loot and reloot. God help us!

Lol! My grouse, if any, would be with the so called “external auditors” that get paid huge amount in millions just to carry out an exercise we don’t get to see it’s effectiveness. Truth is bankers are VERY smart and intelligent and it reflects in virtually all they do. If they engage in any form of fraud whatsoever, it would be almost impossible for any auditor to find out. Don’t blame them. It takes someone at least as smart as them to detect their antics. Despite Oceanic, Intercontinental and other failed banks being audited while huge fraud was being pretreated, it took another banker (Sanusi) to detect what was going on and dragging Cecilia Ibru, Erastus Akingbola and co to court. Meanwhile, our auditors were busy “cashing out” and it seemed they were just being paid to write that true and fair view statement.

I think audit is fast outliving it’s purpose and it’s high time we started sourcing other viable alternatives.

This particular video did not in any way suggest Obasanjo’s alliance to the APC. Against PDP? Yes! Btw, Obasanjo’s criticism of governments as an elder statesman is not wrong, in my opinion. So many others supported the scam of a change last elections and have now turned their backs. No big deal! We can’t support what isn’t good just because of the trepidation of being chastised for our earlier choices. If Obasanjo sees something wrong, let him keep saying it. If Buhari thinks Obasanjo has something to hide, let him bring him to book and let us have rest.
