My brother they know those they are fooling! My only fear is that we will repeat same mistake in 2019! #Budgerforthem indeed.
Honestly, my brother, just don't bother, your fears are confirmed already. You can see some people already campaigning for them on this forum already. Worst still, we have been wired to depend on the two major political parties to provide these leaders. It only makes political sense for the parties to prioritise their interests over that of Nigerians. So, if we have a candidate that's willing to the bids of the party even if it's at the detriment of Nigerians and there's another that wants to serve Nigerians over the party. Who will be given the ticket? Your guess is as good as mine.

The thing is there are certain wrongs in the Nigerian foundation and no amount of building on a weak foundation would solve it.

Where are the resolutions of the Nigerian National Conference that the previous government spent huge amount of money to convey?

In fact...

"The budget must anchor on the implementation of #MadeInNigeria and it must be reflected in public procurement". I paraphrased.

The President drives a German Merecedes Benz (just one of the many exotics in the fleet), same with the Senate President and the news of the procurement of Toyota SUVs and Peugeot for Senators and MHRs respectively is still fresh in our minds while Innoson is probably still there, struggling to keep it's head above the waters. Can't you take a cue from America? They are trying to build a new official car for the President, they simply sent their specs to General Motors (an American company) to build.
If the Nigerian government is the only customer Innoson has, I stand to say it is enough for the business to thrive well (and we can do the rough arithmetic). These guys keep taking us for a ride and make Nigerians feel stupid.

I know Jonathan's government (like her predecessors) dealt Nigeria a great deal of monumental damage and this man came with so much initial "gra-gra" to fix things but even from his own end, nothing at all. All we see is a body language that reeks so much of ignorance and unconciousness. You'd expect little things (that aren't affected by "oil price" like this to be quickly fixed, at least, through leading by example but alas...

Surprisingly, some of us will still come here and make excuses for them, "Oh! They can't fix this because...". Damn! Things have fallen apart and the centre has long lost it's hold.

Plus, am I the only one that feels like the 2017 budget hasn't even been passed or implemented (lol!)?

To do this,to do that,to build this to build that.
For how long will our politicians continue to use this word "TO"? Every time To yet there is nothing on ground to show for it.During election their keyword will be "To" do this, build that construct this yet we never see anything they are doing. They are only constructing and commissioning with their mouths and on papers!!
God bless you for this. Thanks for articulating the same thing I had in mind.

I do understand you. I just felt (and still) feel concerned. I think there was this girl that had issues with her admission, she opened a thread here about it, calling out the school and fortunately, a top official (perhaps the Registrar) was reading through. Collected her details and saw to the issue. My suggestion was a product of that particular experience.

Nonetheless, I hope you get the issue resolved soon.

Okay I was earlier in brn ops( counting cash) but I managed to move to IT about 6 months ago and I am presently learning very relevant skills to the programme I have decided to pursue at Ph.D level.
I am hoping to secure a scholarship for the Ph.D but I am yet to start applying. I am taking my time to learn very relevant areas of my future research. Hopefully in the not too distant future say a couple months from now I'd start pushing hard for the ph.d applications.

I am grateful for your care.
Guitarlife, can you help us with the questions above?

I'm not one that's always quick to heap praises on these mediocre leaders but when it comes to keeping your shii together, OBJ did that commendably. He arguably had the best yet craziest people in his cabinet but you just couldn't trick him. He was his own "Special Adviser on Media", never ceased to clear the air on happenings about his office at the slightest chance. Unlike now that we have to rely on media houses and special assistants to give us atleast a glimpse of events in aso-rock and where the President even appears to be unaware of what is happening. It's not easy coordinating the likes of Okonjo, Oby, Shamsudeen Usman et.al. Smart guys that are very much relevant today.

PoliticsRe: Udom Emmanuel And Makarfi At Flag-off Of LG Elections In Uyo (Photos) by Nevee:
Just a while ago, I watched how Zuma stood before the South African parliament and how he was battered with questions fron different angles. No "sme-sme". What we have at best here is a "preseidential media chat" (that happens once in a blue moon) where questions asked must have gone through the office of the President for ratification, after which the camera rolls, lights on and we have a rehearsed interview. How can you be the examiner and the examined?

There's no how you won't be concious and involved in happenings that affect the office you hold because you know you can be asked questions on any issue and you don't just want your ignorance to embarrass you.

I might be wrong but I have this convincing feeling that we get to know about some developments in this country even before our elected leaders and that has arguably been proven lately.

Even if, say, a Nigerian president stands before the parliamnet in a similar manner, how many of our lawamakers will ask thought provoking, intellectually sound questions that will make the executive and others sit up? I'm sure most of them don't even know their job descriptions.

As long as Nigerians won't have enough guts in unison to pelt the Range Rovers, Mercedes and BMWs of these so called leaders with stones, nothing might change soon. I don't blame us too. So much victims of the failed system already and the system only gets worse.

Fela (of blessed memory) called them VIPs (Vagabonds in Power).

Competitors nko if their prices stay the same
True. But then, it's either the "competitors" are producing locally (similar to OP's case where certain factors like alternative sourcing of power still drive prices up) or importing its goods to resell here. The latter might be much worse given the unfavourable foreign exchange circumstance.

Only if they are deliberately keeping prices low to drive others out of the market and increase prices thereafter (in a somewhat monopolistic manner) to cover the losses already incurred.
BusinessRe: How Are You Surviving In Your Business With Electricity Problem? by Nevee: 9:07pm On Oct 31, 2017
It's simple! Fuel the gen and pass the cost to the consumers. That largely explains the surge in commodity prices recently. Cost of production has been on the high side.

EducationRe: Kogi Govt Bans Unionism In State-owned Tertiary Institutions by Nevee:
Bello is arguably the youngest governor in Nigeria and at the same time the worst. I don't think inadequate participation of youth in governance is the bane of the present Nigerian state. How have they fared at the micro level? How well have they managed their SUGs? It is still the same environment, attitude and mode of reasoning. However, the youths deserve a fair share of the national cake and anyway you choose to look at it, such clamour is justified.

I don't know if age is the problem of this governor or the fact that he came into power by "accident" is an excuse for his lack of management skills and gross inhumanity?
I also don't know why they have not pelted him/his car with stones? That might reset his thought process.

Oh...he drives a bulletproof Lexus GX460. What a pity!
May God comfort the structurally displaced people of Kogi these hard times.

Gone are the days students' activism put government (not excluding the military) and institutions in proper check. Everyone had to sit up.
The tables have turned (in the wrong direction) today. To even ask for basic stuffs which provisions have been made for is considered vilification and a threat in absolute terms.
These are some of the seemingly minute but very significant traits that we've lost and they are to a large extent responsible for our present state.

Hmmm. You've actually put forth a very tenable argument, especially with reference to the Lehman Brothers saga. However, there aren't facts presently to support your argument on this particular report.

On the subject, I think the listing of UCAP is the best thing to happen to them yet and a "struggling" FBN could take a cue from this.

Guys, this isn't about sentiments, political alignments, pessimism or being unpatriotic. Don't go chest-beating for any politician or party. It isn't worth it and worst still, if you die, nothing still changes. If you aren't a priority to our leaders, you should be one to yourself pls.
