I agree its disappointing for the daughter of a sex-abstinence advocate to be found in such a situation. What i find difficult to accept is for people to regard Palin as a hypocrite for her belief in abstinence because of the teenager's pregnancy. I would have accepted that label if Palin is the one involved and not the daughter. To put it bluntly, do you expect her to follow the daughter all over? or to put lock and keys on the girl's privates?

Waoo! some of the contributors almost turned this thread into a war zone, but some salient points were clearly made: those who come to equity must come with clean hands. If a parent mounts the podium to teach the world an ideal he/she believes in but cannot make even a member of his/her household to conform to such, then questions will be raised as they are being raised.

However, If i profess and propagate an ideal i believe in, as long as i live by it, i have not failed, even if my ward failed to live by it. Beyond the pregnant teenager, there are several thousands, dare i say millions, who still believe in sexual abstinence before marriage. To that extent therefore, i disagree with those who tagged Palin as hypocrite because even with the best of parental cares, a lot of children still veer off disastrously.
