THE Organized labour on Wednesday stormed out of the minimum wage committee meeting with the Federal Government over the later’s offer of N48,000 new wage. Recall that the organized labour had made a demand of N615,000 as the new minimum wage and had given the government up till May 31 to conclude negotiations on new living wage. The Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage resumed negotiations on Wednesday. Vanguard was reliably informed that representatives of the organized labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, were enraged over the government offer. Professor Theophilus Ndubuaku, who is one of the representatives of the NLC told Vanguard that, “we asked whether the N45,000 is for transport, food, clothing, housing or for what. “So we just told them that since they are not serious, we better just leave, so we stormed out of the place.” He said that the government offer was presented to them by the Permanent Secretary, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Office. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/05/minimum-wage-labour-rejects-fgs-n45000-offer/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0KnN7pSK_wD6WS-4AYQGZ1juRLNtTPGi7LPfmM4tieA_khFZKQHtr3GWI_aem_AaklYPd3Qelz5CRYO0dIoNSLIezbWvqHXzh9RQFc9EfjJyJRE2a7y0ssSRtAYmDiNp8yC3xQ4D_mms0YlRBgicnh ![]() |
Sam768:This is not far from the truth. However, it's still calm for now. It's still not too late for last minute lobbying but indeed, it will come as a surprise. I wish @2023Blessed could drop some updates too. From my previous interactions with him, he knows too well and probably too much about NUPRC, NIA and NCCC. |

ZARAMITE:I noticed few loopholes in your story, but let's focus on the message. ![]() You are right. No one should ever resign their previous job until they have properly documented in the new organisation. I almost fell victim of this too. I was advised to resign my job with this agency to join a team of consultants at the Presidency (immediate past administration) following a recommendation by a Minister. I was assured that after the project, we will be reabsorbed into any agency of our choice based on the Former CoS recommendation. As per street mentality, I told them I had resigned and started working with them. I was taking several leaves at my primary organisation from casual to sick to just outrightly disappearing and reappearing. I couldn't apply for secondment because I didn't want them to know I hadn't resigned. ![]() Pay was great, exposure was wonderful but......as soon as Asiwaju won the APC primaries, it was as if everything came to a pause. Not a single person was retained or recommended to another organisation. Everywhere was calm as if someone died. I jejely packed my bags and resumed back at my primary organisation with my full chest. Some of those guys have travelled out now while some got private and others federal (by their own hustle). But the moral of my story is "Dont count your chickens before they are hatched". No resign your job in a hurry. Thanks again Zaramite for the reminder ![]() |
VeeVeeMyLuv:So what is expected of government is to set in place both monetary and fiscal policies that will improve the value of the Naira. One of the things killing us is that we are channeling too much of our revenue into debt servicing. I assure that if you get the 300k, 500k or 615k MW you so crave, N200 and N500 will become as useless as N5 and N10 are today. Do you know Nigeria is not even the 4th largest economy in Africa as at today? Let's do a simple maths.......assume there is blanket payment of N600k across board from level 4-17 monthly, multiply that by 1million FG workers (which is even more). That is 600 billion monthly and 7.2 trillion annually. That was for a blanket payment of 600k. Imagine the consequential adjustment from level 5 to 17. Does it sound realistic? If you say yes, I would like to ask where these monies will come from? The first thing you'd need to understand is that nobody gets rich from working for the mainstream civil service except you steal or you are privileged to be in a grade A agency. The next question is how many people can the grade A agencies employ per time? I'd rather earn 100,000 a month and buy a bag of rice for 15000 than earn 615,000 and buy a bag of rice for 200,000. While a decent and realistic living wage is important, labour ought to also pressure the government into creating and implementing policies that will improve the purchasing value of our currency. Also, mass and low cost housing schemes for public servants should be on top priority. Access to the lowest possible interest loans for public servants such as this recently introduced Credit Corp to help finance major projects, reintroduction of defined benefit pension for civil servants, introduction of cheap mass transits, setting up a price control board to check the activities of food hoarders and speculators etc. These are more realistic and sustainable proposals. It's hard everywhere. Last year, I was opportuned to visit Canada on a temporary visa. I saw firsthand the struggles of the people we envy. You are earning CAD3000 per month after tax. Your self con monthly rent is CAD1300, Utilities such as gas, electricity, water, sanitary, and phone/internet is taking over $700. Feeding/groceries is taking between 400-500 CAD and transport is taking 250-300$. Hopefully, you don't have a child who's still in daycare and you don't engage in social activities that requires you spending on drinks or junks. We haven't factored clothing neither have we mentioned black tax. It's hard for a person earning 3000CAD (which is a very decent wage after tax) to save 300CAD monthly. Like one of my brothers @asaleh96 said, people steal because it's in their nature. If you are picking up civil service job for the primary purpose of becoming rich, you will be disappointed. Even if the state governors decide to commit all their monthly allocations towards paying salaries, they'd still need to borrow to pay 615k MW. Does that mean they are justified? No, they are still thieves. As a PhD student with 2 MSc to my name, a BSc and a diploma in Law, no one wants a 615k MW more than I do. But I am also realistic enough to know that it is impractical at the moment. It's easy to make demands when you are not the one sourcing the money. But if you had a business and was paying employees, you'd be more realistic. Also, people who don't have any source of income, how do you expect them to cope with the inflation that will follow the MW increase? Look from 1999 till date, there must be an increase in the price of goods and services once MW is increased. There are no two ways about it. Salary is 100k and slots are being sold for 3million to 5 million. How much will it be sold for when your 615k is implemented? Do you think about the unemployed at all? I leave you with this quote by Jim Rohn to ponder on. "Profits are better than wages. Wages earn you a living; but profits earn you a fortune." No one gets "legitimately" rich through public service; not in Nigeria, not in Canada, not in USA. Remove corruption from the civil service and there will be nothing juicy about it. My advice: Look for a second source of income. I look forward to the day that working multiple jobs will be legal in Nigeria as it is obtainable in other climes. Secondly, learn a skill if you can. My government job didn't sponsor my trip to Canada, my side hustle did. Think out of the box. Civil service can render you mentally redundant and totally dependent on government for all your needs. No, it shouldn't be so! |
Nadingo:Sounding like a broken record. Which of what you mentioned haven't I already addressed in my lengthy write-up that I had hastily assumed your brain could comprehend but later realised I was wrong with my assumption as you are clearly operating on a 32MB ROM. None of your rants make you less a slave Nadingo. When government fixes Minimum Wage at 90,000 or 100k, I would like to see you and those liking your comments to resign in protest. Afterall, why serve a wicked master? Or are you in love with your chains too? At least, spaces go dey for others still believing God for a FG job here. It will be good riddance! ![]() If FG decides to pay 615k and sack unproductive workers like you to sustain the payment, una go still carry placard. or government should use her entire budget to pay salaries, ehn dumbhead?! The agency or Ministry you are currently slaving in, how much have you generated for the Federal Government this year? Lazy servant! If you are not lazy, switch to the Organised Private Sector, where a good number of companies pay well above the civil service. Oh, I forgot you can't cope in the Private Sector where you will work your ass out for your salary. ![]() Register a business, be an employer of labour too, pay the mimimum wage you wish to have and then we will listen to you. Till then, enjoy your 30k MW with 25% salary increment. If you arrive late at work tomorrow, na query get you. I have never seen such an entitled slave in my entire life ![]() |
POLS:Sorry Sir. I just needed to clear the air. People with a false sense of entitlement irks me |
Alfredd16:Don't advise him brother. I am intentionally spurring him/her to keep posting, so more people can see him/her for what he/she is. |
Nadingo:Sadly, the mechanics you are claiming to defend are way smarter than you. Not even a n illiterate will reason the way you are reasoning. Compare your country's GDP to ordinary South Africa here but you want to be paying Canada MW. Which polytechnic or University did you attend again? Your response will help some of us decide which tertiary institution our kids should never attend because they are obviously churning out entitled dullards. |
Nadingo:I won't come down to your level. I would have still schooled you further but your head won't be able to comprehend it. Keep waiting for 615k MW, you hear? ![]() You will tell us if you are better than the mechanic with 5 children who still manages to send them to school despite not having a fixed income monthly. Na your type dey still go office dey go gist and never productive. You can't even convince me you are a productive civil servant because you don't sound intelligent at all (not an insult, merely stating the obvious), you are just part of the federal character quota that must fill up the slots to be complete. ![]() I will have to sound a bit vulgar cos that's the only language you seem to understand.........when you were climbing your wife/husband and producing babies like rabbits, did you consider your economic situation? You can help labour and carry placard tomorrow oo, Mr/Miss/Mrs. Activist! Talking about slave, you will wake up tomorrow, bath, dress up and go to work, waiting for the "peanuts" you will receive by the month end so that your family won't starve to death, what does that make you? You are also a slave my dear brother/sister. You are only free the moment you resign and set up your own business. There is a reason you are called civil "servant" Nadingo. You are a servant at the mercy of your master (your employer). ![]() Talking about business, I dare you to resign and start a business and pay your employees 615k monthly. ![]() Have a pleasant day Mr/Miss/Mrs Civil |
Nadingo:To slap you just dey hungry me. Resorting to insults during civil conversation is an obvious sign of dullness or mental illness. Get yourself checked. And yes, FG will never pay even 250k as minimum wage "now". While I support that the allowances and emoluments of senators and house of reps members should be cut down to reduce cost of governance (why do we even need a bicameral legislature?), how can you compare the wage bill of 109 senators and 360 Rep members to almost, if not over 1 million workers under the employ of the Federal Government. Keep pretending as if you are unaware that even if by any stroke of luck, the FG agrees to that amount, the State Governors will never agree nor comply. Are you also aware that the Federal Workers are not the only crop of workers in the country? You expect Dufil Prima to pay their cleaners N615k monthly and still want to buy indomie carton at N5000. 🤡 You want Nigeria Bottling Company to pay its driver (which by the way should earn above MW) N615K and expect to buy a bottle of coke at N300. 🤡🤡 When what is common on this faceless forum is everyone cussing at and insulting the President at any given instance, when infact, your governors have been collecting x3 of their monthly FAAC allocations since last year with nothing to show for it. Pretend like you are not living in a country where a Governor paid half salaries to workers for years but paid upfront tuition fees of his children in an international school till 2035. If you don't understand the implication of that, I don't know how else to explain to you. Are you aware that with every wage increase comes corresponding inflation? Considering how wicked Nigerian entrepreneurs and traders are, how will you explain to the market woman that she can't increase the price of her goods when she is fully aware that FG has increased minimum wage. You think the artisans don't like or deserve a better life too? How will they get it? By billing you the newest big boys in town. That's how economics work. Finally, for a country with the lowest VAT collection in Africa, fighting daily oil theft, smuggling, endemic corruption in both government and civil service, where will the monies to pay over 1m workers come from? Don't forget 615k is for the lowest worker, what will be the consequential adjustment for other levels especially the senior cadres? The 615k MW will not eradicate corruption, so how much do you think ordinary civil service job slots will now be sold for? As I type, Abia, Zamfara and Taraba states are yet to comply with the N30,000 MW of 2019. Imo State refused to implement the consequential adjustment for Levels 08-17 since 2019. Labour is insisting that every organisation with more than 5 workers must pay the minimum wage. So you expect the local bakery at the back of your house to pay 615k too and still sell bread at 500? Some of us are very pragmatic and objective, not living in utopia like others. Do we wish to have 615k MW? Yes, nobody has died of too much earnings. Is it realistic? No, not with the current economic realities and crop of leaders at "all levels of government". The only way that may be possible is to adopt several MW as is obtainable in Canada and other Western countries where each provinces/state have their MW and the FG has its own. If you are working in Zamfara and not satisfied with the wages, you can simply migrate to Lagos for greener pastures, also bearing in mind that although Lagos may have a higher MW, the cost of living in Lagos is way higher than in Zamfara. Then everyone can be lobbying for Federal jobs as the ultimate. You have made me type too much this morning, and it won't be free. I'll DM you my invoice and I won't accept anything less than 615k ![]() |
Asquare412:Yes they will. |
Gabicon20:Please let them be. Don't advise anyone on the issue again since they have decided not to learn nor listen. If FG decides to prosecute that useless self-acclaimed DG in court, he will never escape it. How do you go about collecting money from unemployed people under the guise of recruitment into an agency that has no legislative backing nor budgetary provision? Even if the FG will later create a Commission in lieu of a Center as stipulated by the Charter, these fraudsters parading themselves as leadership of NATCOM will never benefit from it. And trust me, the FG is not in a hurry to create a Commission for that purpose, definitely not under PBAT who is actively trying to reduce the cost of running the public service. Abi una think say na by passing third reading in Senate? Maybe Senators will pay your salaries. Even NIPOST (one of the oldest government agencies) that got a greenlight from the National Assembly to be divided into a Regulatory Commission and Postal Operator has not seen this materialise since 2015. Make una continue to buy form oooo.......long live NATCOM abi na NATFORCE and PEACE CORP and NIGERIA ROAD TRAFFIC WARDEN SERVICE too (for those that know) ![]() |
Sctests:Exactly my brother. Once you place a bet on any platform, you have entered into a contract with the betting company and not its agent. Any shameful or dubious action carried out by their agent is solely the responsibility of the parent company to deal with. Isn't that why all bets are insured? Like you rightly said, the guy has seen poverty in its rawest form and was easy to cajole into collecting peanuts compared to his legitimate winnings. If he gets a good lawyer, he can still argue he signed the affidavit under duress and threat to his life. The agent has been arrested and some of the money will definitely be recovered. Who will then keep that? Bet9ja or the Nigeria Police? People take their own rights for granted in this country. |
The cashier and her boyfriend deserves up to 10 years in jail. How can you cash out someone else's game? They must have been doing it for long. The beneficiary is also an idiot. Why should you settle for N3m compensation? |
Mohisah: Perfectly said. Life is really simple |
Gensanusi:I dey always feel your updates General. We appreciate your consistency. |
Joeadah:That man has repeatedly proven that bagging a doctorate degree cannot guarantee you excellent communication and networking skills. Truly, academic knowledge is almost irrelevant if you have poor communication skills. If I didn't see KKKP's post, I would have thought he said something more offensive. I'm amazed at how the Doc is painting the whole scenario, feeling like the victim in a situation where no one is actually bullying him. In the whole of NBS, he surely thinks he is the best and I am guessing one or two bosses have noticed this and are intentionally suppressing him to put him in check. Na him type go dey tell people for office say their Director no sabi anything because he no get PhD. Forgetting that the Director(s) have loyalists who will always give them feedback about people who gossip them. A 3rd class graduate with top notch people management skill will surely fly higher than a Professor who feels he is better than everyone else Instead of talking down on your colleagues at the office, have you tried teaching them the same way you were taught? Or you prefer to keep your knowledge to yourself in the bid to outshine everyone? That means the people who employed them don't know what they are doing, abi? I'm also a PhD student and a public servant but my good friend and coursemate during undergraduate who unfortunately graduated with a 3rd class has helped me with contracts and side jobs more than any Director or senior colleague ever has. He is the head of Safety in an upstream company in Delta State and he doesn't have a Master degree yet. Better stay humble! |
enumerica:You don't seem ready for help. Do you think because you told us you have a PhD, you automatically qualify for a position at NDIC or CBN? KKKP is a smart dude and he asked very salient questions that anyone willing to help should ask you. Heck, no wonder you find it difficult to work with your junior colleagues. Better learn, unlearn and relearn, PhD is not a ticket to success, good human relations and strategic networking is. Na you suppose dey rush answer any question wey anybody ask you for here. ![]() All the best Doc. |

The current state of the ICC does not meet any international standard. These are obviously paid actors by ICSL fighting to retain their drainpipe through which they milk the nation's resources. I am not a fan of Wike but Wike is right to have revoked the contract. Such entitled Northerners. What does the Management of the ICC have to do with 2027 elections? Bunch of greedy animals. |
tollyboy5:you see your life? Gamble addict |
I don't know if guys here are already aware. But something is going on at NOSDRA......mainly for pure science and engineering graduates. |
Moniter0:Definitely. I was actually referring to people who are currently holding it down. If I start to mention names from yesteryears, solid men and women dey wey impact lives for here. God bless them all. |
Prince806:I am following up closely on this. I will definitely drop valuable information on NNPC when it is available. For now, it's just mere speculation here and there. |
Mohisah:Internal staff indeed. This is a faceless forum oga. Una dey post appointment letters with people's full names and addresses but think it is sensitive to share detailed recruitment information that will help others. ![]() Quit the emphasis on the naming of directors, that was a mere example. You can share valuable information without blowing your cover except you wish to. Does anyone here know where I work? Na you dey expose yourself. Let's not derail further my brother. I have nothing personal against you guys. I'm just saying emulate GenSanusi, Hussen 240, Olarewajuu and others who give information that people can work with. Not half-baked, cryptic information that helps no one but reeks of self-aggrandisement of the provider. If you feel your current moniker is exposed, register another and provide valuable information. This goes to the sign language experts too. When I was an active job seeker, I'd still drop info of places I was seeking employment. Na so God take bless me, not by hoarding information. That you are privileged with information doesn't automatically make you better than others. If your information cannot help give others some sort of direction, you can as well keep it to yourself. That's my 2cents. |
Omuka:At all brother. I don't have any info in that regard |
oluxmondd2:Yes Yes!!!! |
Mohisah:You are still not saying anything my guy. I am talking about a time when there was an official embargo on recruitment into federal institutions, you dey talk of change in power. Lol These days wey Senators and Rep members dey openly post appointment letters gotten for their constituents on Social Media, na him una dey form sensitive. Anyways, Nigerians love sensationalism. Na part of why I decline my comments for this thread. When we were dropping legit info about NUPRC recruitment, people dey yab us because we no add drama ![]() The only two less dramatic people remaining on this thread with legit info are GenSanusi and Olarewajuu. The General dey even add pictures and timeline yet downsizing never choke am. ![]() I love to see the drama on the thread occasionally though. ![]() For those pursuing NUPRC, not a single soul has collected appointment letter till date. All approvals have now been gotten and the lucky ones will be called in few weeks. All the best. |
NUPRC🐦👰🏾♂️👨🏾🌾🤰🌈🐯🐉🥊📅🔴🟩⏮️⏭️↩️🚮🇳🇬🇺🇸 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 Very funny lots in here..... For those of you screaming sensitive information this or that, whatever info is provided here in 2023/2024 is child's play compared to sensitive info that was dropped on this thread between 2018 to 2021. Go and read DPR recruitment thread of 2016 and see how men were dropping information with names of Directors confidently. Sensitive information indeed! |
