Edonnaa:That's an old quote that I already know. If you think I am being proud, then the nuts in your head needs to be rechecked. You call educating folks about the possibilities in the private sector being proud? Did I talk about my current or previous earnings? Or because some people think that N150k is big money, others shouldn't aspire higher? You kids are clowns. ![]() When you get that N50k job you are looking for, you will understand what the rest of us are saying. Life is in phases; Men are in sizes. I have worked N20k monthly job in the past, I wasn't comfortable. I wished I had a N100k job then. When the N80k job came, I didn't want N100k job anymore because my responsibilities were becoming bigger, I wanted N150k at least. So if I tell you for instance that today I want N600k monthly, it's my current reality. The type of projects I have put my legs into are not the type that a N300k monthly salary can finance or sustain. Others are looking for 3m monthly, that's their reality. I can't say they are greedy or ungrateful. Na them know Wetin dey their front. Why is Dangote building a refinery? Is he not rich enough? He should allow other businessmen grow too nau? Those will be the words of the businessman who is worth just 10m naira Do you think an ex-senator will accept a directorship position in NCC? He may accept to be the EVC or Board Chairman but never a career director. That's growth!Growth and change should be constant in a man's life. Complacency is one of the foundation of poverty. Do not be complacent but also do not be ungrateful. If someone comes on here and says she earns 350k, it's only gross stupidity, sheer ignorance and a poverty mindset that will make you say such person is lying because your reality is different from hers. And the fact that we all converge on the same thread does not mean we are all looking for the same thing. It's the same reason someone is leaving NCC for NUPRC, NDIC to ECOWAS etc. I can bet some people here will say "if I get NCC ehn, I will never leave. I will retire there", yet people are leaving there to places they presume better. If you do not understand this still, your case is irredeemable. Minimum wage in 2019 was approximately $83, minimum wage in 2024 is approximately $25 and you want us to be hyping N130k. As a matter of fact, that should be the new minimum wage and it's still poor. No wonder the government will add N10,000 to minimum wage and you all will be jubilating. Better dream big this year. Nothing is impossible, na your mind no gree picture am. |

Obaman12: This year will be your year by God's grace. If any opportunity open for my current place of work, I will holla at you. Na the only promise wey I fit make. I'm also seeking an upgrade myself. |
https://www.thecable.ng/exclusive-super-agencies-directed-to-remit-50-of-revenue-to-federation-account/amp The Revenue generating agencies go feel am this time. I hope some allowances won't be reduced though. |
UrennaNkoli:I stumbled on a video on X where the dude was saying that if you don't earn up to 3 million dollars and above yearly, he cannot sit down to discuss business with you. Many Nigerians called him out for being too proud. But when I thought deeply about it, it's his reality. If you already have 3m dolls, what kind of business do you want to be discussing with a shop owner whose total annual turnover is just over 1 million naira. If you say "I am targeting 1 billion naira profit this year", the trader will be looking at you like a mad person because his own reality is to make a profit of 500k by the year end. Na so this thread be. Unfortunately, the rain that is falling must force the pigeon to pitch tent with the chickens. Like I said earlier, may God grant all of us according to our desires. |
Alfredd16:Come carry me comot, poor boy ![]() |
Xtruzz:I'm still on it Sis. Should materialize between now and February ending as my sponsor has assured and if God wills. NUPRC desperately needs technical staff and has refused to take from NMDPRA who has been lobbying to offload some of their staff strength to NUPRC. Happy New Year. The lady who talked about someone resuming at NUPRC this January is correct. E get why e be like that. Our level of influence differs. They had sent in a recruitment waiver request to FCC since like 3 months ago. So it's long overdue |
Alfredd16:I no fit dey drag issues with you. You no reach. But for the folks who really want to learn..... Let's even "assume" what you said about your brother is true, that 300k you mentioned is the salary of a level 16 director in the civil service, I am talking about after the recent addition of peculiar allowance. That 300k is also the salary of a level 14 in most government owned research institutions and grade B-C agencies. Most notable is that it is the current reality of an Associate Professor with at least 10 years of post-doctoral experience in a Federal University in Nigeria. Yet, you said your brother had just 3 years experience, right?! Use your tongue to count your teeth dude. Go and ask how much KMPG or Shell starts their trainee analyst/GT with. No dey cap rubbish. Where you don work before? I was probably working before you wrote WAEC. No be to brag. Na to remind you say both private and public sector experience, we get am. |
ParamilitaryII:I didn't want to join in this conversation but it's really funny to see some unemployed dudes here rubbish the fact that people in private sector are doing great. However, contrary to what Madam said, this thread was created mostly for public servants who could give factual figures of salaries within their organisation, and so this will help those seeking for an upgrade and the unemployed as well. Having said that, my very young cousin who just finished NYSC is with UBA now earning over 250k monthly. Just like you, I have many colleagues who regret leaving the private sector especially if you are a professional. Only lazy, myopic civil servants or people who have never worked anywhere will think all jobs in civil service are better than all jobs in private sector. One dude even said oil companies start with 250k. Lol. That was like 15 years ago dude. When I was in JSS3 far back in 2001, my brother in law who was a trainee geologist with the defunct National Oil (Kaduna Refinery) was earning 120k/monthly. I can never forget this in my life. This was a time that senior civil servants were taking home 25-30k as monthly salary. In 2011 while I was serving, my uncle was earning 800k monthly in Zenith bank although as an Assistant Marketing Manager then. There's a reason why the likes of NCC, NNPC, NMDPRA, NUPRC, NIA, NDIC etc pay huge allowances. It's because it's the "industry" standard. You don't pay that much, then you watch your staff being compromised by the organisations they are meant to regulate or even move to these organisations to help them with regulatory compliance. A senior friend of mine left EFCC for MTN. He's a regional security xxxxxxx with MTN today, earning X10 of what EFCC was paying him. Funny thing was that he never even applied, an MTN staff spotted him when he gave an address at a function that EFCC was part of. Na so they begin chase my guy. How much do you think safety officers, chemical engineers and others will earn at Dangote Refinery at entry level? Like Madam said, a lot of these guys are jobless and will stand on their ignorance than admit they know nothing. That one even said "Google my name". ![]() Walahi, I just googled it hoping to see something spectacular. I was disappointed. Let me stop at that, so I don't sound condescending. All man to his wish. Some are looking for job of 70k, others 150k. Some want 300k, another wants 1million. May God grant us according to our heart desires. The government knows that at least 50% of the workforce in the civil service are redundant, that's why they don't care about the wages. A lot of these civil servants cannot thrive in serious private organisations that mean business. Hence, they are satisfied with the 70k monthly, no stress job. Asides from those in highly specialized organisations and who are being paid well for it....... I rest my case! The type of mentality some of you exude here is why some people insist that civil service jobs are for the lazy unproductive folks. Go to Federal Secretariat in Abuja and see something ![]() |
This ticketing system will never cease to amaze me. I saw a video where a domestic airline flew to the south south or south east with less than 20 passengers because the air fare was outrageous. I understand that demand drives up price for some services but will it not amount to a faster turnover if you increase the number of flights per day and reduce the airfares encouraging even more people to use air transportation? I thought exclusivity, unpopular routes and price of aviation fuel are the major factors that lead to price increase in air fares, I didn't know high demand also does. Please can anyone with adequate knowledge of aviation ticketing system educate me. |
victorclean:Hello fat pig, have you gone astray into the refuse dump again? Your medications are ready. Come back to your cage dirty swine |
a4cube:As if the Labour party activists disguised as NLC will let government retrench workers. If the government decides to sack employees that are not ICT compliant alone......hehehehe |
missjekyll:Your ignorance smells like rotten pork. Ask politely and you will receive education. BTW, who dey carry shoulders between you and I? E be like say malaria don damage your cerebrum. |
DiamondPant:Only those in A-list MDAs and few B-list can relate. Most of the other civil servants are just like you asserted "federal government properties" that the government treats as they wish. But then, most of them offer little or no service commensurate to the remuneration they even receive. Visit 80% of the MDAs offering direct services to the public and you will be disappointed. Dedication to work and customer service is poor or non existent. I am also a public servant. |
MrProlific95:Is that the best contribution you can bring to an intellectual conversation? Thank you for confirming my assumption about most civil servants. |
MrProlific95:Noted. Counter me with proofs or crawl back into oblivion you little demon |
emmatony:Let them keep shooting themselves in the foot. Over 70% of civil servants in Nigeria are lazy, docile and always waiting for freebies before the due date. |
missjekyll:This is not true. BTW, which countries have you worked in before? You lots will just come here because it's a faceless forum and be spewing gibberish. In 2022, December salaries also came after Christmas. Heavens didn't fall. Listen to the young man, paying you before Christmas is a privilege and not a right. Muslim faithfuls did not receive their salaries until after Eid el Kabir 2023 too. You all should stop whining. Entitled lots. |
Mohisah:There are actually 13 months in a year. It's the monthly salary system that is short-changing employees in this part of the world. Before anyone argues about 12 or 13 months in a year, please note that there are 52 weeks in a year, simply divide that by 4 weeks that is claimed makes a month. In other climes, weekly or bi-weekly wages helps to eliminate this "short-changing" but here where salaries/wages are only paid monthly, some organisations in their wisdom and magnanimity decided to pay the 13th month. It's not actually a gift, you worked for it but many will never understand this unfortunately. Meanwhile, upfront is totally different from 13th month. Upfront is a lump-sum of allowances that should have been paid equally across 12 months being paid in advance at once at the beginning of the year, hence the tag "upfront". |
1. Cliché storyline with some few twists. It's fair enough. 2. Obnoxiously amateurish acting. 3. Gaffes in scriptwriting. I mean she dressed up gorgeously that very morning of the date only to act like she had totally forgotten when she met the human fairy in 2018. LMAO. "He just buzzed me"......that part sickens my stomach. What sort of very juvenile acting was that? Again, the waiter at the Bistro affirms that going by what she said about missing the date in 2018 initially, and the guy missing the date in the second 2018, that means they both didn't show up for the date in the first 2018. How didn't she know that in 2023? Didn't the guy at least text her in the first 2018 when he cancelled? Very very very poor directing. The production crew deserves flogging. Overall, I will rate the movie 2.5/10 and that is me being generous. Nollywood has come really far and we have witnessed world class productions from Nigeria than for this mediocre piece to be accorded any celebration. The production team should buckle up and do better next time. Such a waste of my internet data. Addendum: the Bistro waiter's acting is quite professional though. I'll rate him 6.5/10 |

springer:There is so much insight, wisdom, humour and thoughtfulness in your post. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for the very invaluable advise in the first paragraph. I understand you are strongly pro-regionalism/restructuring. Even in your humour, there is wisdom. If it's okay by you Sir, I'd like to stay in touch. Thank you Sir. |
SoNature:Thank you very much brother for your kind input. I will put your advise to mind. More blessings on you Sir. |
Good morning fellow Nairalanders I am seeking to formally transfer my membership with a political party to my state of origin, although I have been a member of the said party in FCT since 2018. I intend to actively participate in all party activities in my state of origin from January 2024. I am seeking the opinion of politically sagacious Nairalanders on which ward is appropriate to transfer my membership to, considering that I will now be visiting my state more often for active participation. I will use ward A and B to describe the various options. Ward A : This is where my great grand parents domiciled. My late dad also grew up here and we have always used this place on our local government certificates of origin. However, ever since my dad died over a decade ago, none of us visits this particular place because all our aunts and uncles no longer reside around here except for a few extended family members. As a matter of fact, what used to stand as a family house has been abandoned for decades and is now dilapidated. Ward B: This is where my dad built his personal house which later became a modern family house for our extended families and relations. He was greatly loved by both his nuclear and very extended family. Everyone wanted to spend major festivities at his house and he was always willing to accommodate all. He gave to the less privileged, churches, mosques and associations within this area yet he never got involved in active or partisan politics. Although this ward is in a different LGA from Ward A where my dad grew up, my dad was quite popular in this area because of his extensive and consistent philanthropy before his demise. Going by the above narrative, where would you advise I pitch my tent? Thank you! |

Hello friends, Please join us in signing this petition calling for the reversal of the insensitive and unnecessary 700% hike in cost of obtaining Police Clearance Certificate in Nigeria. The official cost of obtaining PCC was N5,000 yet most people got it from between N10,000 to N30,000 due to racketeering and unwholesome practices of some police officers. Now, it has been officially increased to N40,000. Imagine how much these police officers will be charging helpless youths to obtain PCC. We believe this move by the Nigeria Police Force is aimed at frustrating the efforts of Nigerians who are striving to migrate to other countries for greener pastures. Sign the petition and share. https://chng.it/B5mX |
