….as owner advises against burying loved ones in private homes ...says cemetery is a beautiful, well preserved and maintained environment The Owner/Promoter of O’Royal Vaults and Gardens, lle-lfe, Prince Adeleke Odewade has advised that it’s unhealthy and unfashionable to bury loved ones in private homes or properties nowadays. He therefore urged families to endeavour to patronize professional vaults managers for interment of their dead ones. Prince Adeleke gave some reasons for his assertion, adding that his cemetery is next to none for interment. His words: “We offer outstanding services, irrespective of the intern's Religion or Creed. There are Vaults for all, O’Royal Memorial Park and Gardens …Creating a dignified atmosphere, calm, serene, well maintained and preserved for your late beloved to rest in peace. Speaking further about the O’Royal Vaults and Gardens, he said: “The salient fact about the cemetery is that is the first of its kind in lle Ife and most churches are not well disposed to having cemeteries these days because they are unable to maintain the facilities but this one is well maintained, it is 24 by 7 and censored by CCT. “There is preservation and maintenance where the owners of the vaults can come and visit the vaults of their loved ones at any time because it is well maintained and preserved . It is a very good environment filled with nature and decorated with flowers and other ornaments. Prince Adeleke gave reasons for advising against burying loved ones in private homes, saying: “It is uncivilized and unfashionable to bury the dead in private houses or compounds now, for so many reasons one of which is to maintain a healthy and sanitized environment, two, it devalues the property , you might want to sell, dispose or transfer the property but having burial ground inside the compound devalues the property. Three, these days , cities and towns are bound to face urban renewal, whether they like it or not . The roads are built, facilities are built and families even rebuild their properties . Am average home is not supposed to last for more than 25 to 40 years after which they have to rebuild it. But when you bury some loved ones in such facilities, it becomes difficult to rebuild them. “So, it is better that loved ones are buried in private cemeteries that are preserved and well maintained and ours is very affordable and it has categories according to your financial strength. We also help people to plan their funeral programmes according to their financial capacities. No amount is too much to bury their loved ones and no amount of too small ones to arrange burial programmes. “In addition, we have a limousine jeep, Chevrolet surburban, for hire for several ceremonies, the limousine jeep can be used to convey people from home to church, from church to the burial ground and for other logistics . But not to convey the corpse, “ he said. Prince Adeleke assured that his cemetery provides dignified scenery and beautiful final resting place for beloved ones. Adding that interested people should visit Royalvaultsandgardens.com

Youths in Kaduna State have accused operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for incessant extortion. The youths who pleaded anonymity for fear of being victimised, said operatives of the anti-graft agency are in the habit of forcefully collecting money from households, suspected to be wealthy in the Kaduna North area. They narrated that on many occasions, the said operatives had raided different hotels and houses in a commando-like manner just to fleece occupants, Management and Staff, of their money. "We don't know why they have adopted the style of raiding hotels and breaking homes to intimidate and collect money from people in the name of "suspected proceeds of crime" the question is what crime , and who committed the crime" A very old frail man who has been a trader or farmer all his life, living in his house, was accosted by these money sucking mongers and requested that he gives them part of the rent he pays to his landlord. The old man said "I dont know what you mean, and the next is a slap on his face, just for refusing to give them money. One will be treated like a common criminal, and be framed up if he refuses to oblige, because of the accompanying fierce looking armed mobile policemen attached to the EFCC Staff "The other day, the EFCC raided three hotels and arrested many hotel Staff and lodgers simply because the owners of the hotels refused to yield to their demands of monthly payment. So many people earning legitimate salaries are now rendered jobless, which is an additional burden to the President Tinubu's effort in giving out palliatives. The Kaduna Zonal Office of the EFCC commit these acts, just for someone to enrich himself. The Chairman of Efcc had earlier announced that Staff should desist from such menace but we believe the Kaduna office is also a new EFCC 2. "We consider this behaviour to be illegal, unconstitutional and highly unethical and as such, we will take drastic measures by first addressing the state governor who we believe will come to our rescue". The youths noted that if the state government fails to address the situation, they will have no option than to defend themselves through every possible means necessary. "We dont intend to break any law, but will defend ourselves when approached by these officers. "We are peace loving people but we will not allow the menace to continue unabated if the state government declines to help us. "We will use our youthful energy to solve the problem because we cannot continue to watch the corrup officials led by one Mohammed Koko, and Magaji etc, to continue to cause havoc." The era of maladministration is over. "We believe in this new Administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and we will not hesitate to find ways of directly reaching out to him, if the Chairman EFCC does not take immediate and drastic action against these staffers with their police co-horts. "Start by obeying simple Court orders and stop harassing innocent people"

Akeredolu died Wednesday at the age of 67 after a brief illness, Dr George Ogunjimi described Aketi as a progressive politician, he noted that all Igbimo Asoju Yoruba in Diaspora’s will forever miss Akeredolu for being the brain behind the creation of Amotekun and for being a fearless leader. Read Dr George Ogunjimi Full statement below 👇 "My first meeting with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu was at the Ibadan home of the late Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, the late Alhaji Azeez Arisekola-Alao about fourteen years ago where we were both introduced to each other’s as learned colleagues by the host. "Instantly, the late governor warmed into my heart with his impassioned words for humanity and his friendliness. We continued to exchange contact here and then until the need for greater security for Yoruba land arose and I led a delegation to him as a leader of the Igbimo Asoju Yoruba in Diasporas. We met with him to discuss our fears about the helpless insecurity pervading the Yoruba nation. "He promised to discuss the issues with his colleagues as the leaders of the Southwest Governors Forum and thereby address our concerns. Governor Akeredolu did and the Southwest Security outfit named Amotekun was birthed. "He was a man who delighted in tapping knowledge from every good head. Once he was able to get to know how knowledgeable and experienced someone was, such person would become an expert to him and delightfully too he would reward them. "I found out from my few contacts with him that he was an unapologetic Africanist. An optimist for a new world order and indeed a detribalised Nigerian who sought for the best for the people. "Akeredolu was undoubtedly a progressive politician who was also a forthright leader of the Bar Association and indeed made marks with his footprints written on stones. "His name will forever be written in gold as a leader who stood to forestall the invasion of our cities, towns, villages, communities and forests by alien herdsmen. He was indeed a courageous leader. "We mourn a legend of a leader who had so much to offer but called to glory at the unripe of 67". May his courageous soul rest peacefully.

Founded by Evangelist Chukwuebuka Anozie Obi, the ministry has become synonymous with stories of mind-boggling miracles of healings and deliverances occurring either at Zion City there or those witnessed in different parts of the world. The testimonies come from people who say they were located during online prayers by Evangelist Ebuka or were healed after using Seraphic Water and Seraphic Oil blessed by the Spiritual Director of the ministry, Ebuka. The people who testified to their healing last Sunday included a woman who had breast cancer; a US-based kidney disease patient (Onyedikachi), and Beatrice Obiozor from United Kingdom who had glaucoma for 40 years and was healed after surgery failed to rectify the problem. There was also the story of Pirekina Anyanwu of Isiala Mbano, Imo State, who flew in from Florida, US, to testify to how the Seraphic oil and water healed his spinal chord injury and saved him from a highly risky surgery recommended by doctors. Operatives of the National Drug Enforcement Agency have busted a drug syndicate using the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos. The NDLEA said it arrested six members of a syndicate using their official cover to facilitate the smuggling of illicit drugs through the Skyway Aviation Handling Company warehouse at the Lagos airport into the country. 1,210,000 pills of tramadol were also seized from them in an operation that lasted weeks. The NDLEA also recovered 14,481,519 pills of Tramadol and bottles of codeine syrup worth over N13 billion in street value. The spokesperson for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. Babafemi identified the six suspects as Oladele Sanya-Olu; Lawal Itunu Temitope; Sanamo Daniel; Udeh Monday; Musa Mutalib and Unege Icibor. They were arrested in relation to the illegal drug trade through SAHCO. He said they were in NDLEA custody and that three other suspects – Sarki Salami; Abdullahi Aliyu (aka Aboki); and Monday Anwal, were on the run. However, sources at the NDLEA said one of the people involved identified as Jide is the cargo manager for SAHCO. But his name was left out in the statement. According to the sources, Jide’s personal vehicle – a Mercedes Benz car – was used to carry the drugs. “He took it to the SAHCO Courier shed. “A gate to the tarmac locked by customs and SAHCO was used and they didn’t break the lock, which means that they had access. This place is the airside “SAHCO left theirs open and customs also claimed they forgot to lock theirs. They allowed them to go,” one of the sources said. The sources expressed disappointment that other major agencies like the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and NDLEA do not have access to lock the gate. One of the sources said, “These guys were obviously able to get to customs and SAHCO. Meanwhile, Jide’s vehicle has been impounded by NDLEA and the vehicle is still with us,” one of the sources said. “Even FAAN doesn’t really have control of the airside from SAHCO and NACHO cargo sheds especially after the close of work because the sheds are usually padlocked by SAHCO and Customs. And why does NDLEA not have the keys to the gates that lead to the tarmac from both SAHCO and NACHO sheds? “It’s surprising that NDLEA which is doing major operations when it comes to drugs in Nigeria does not have 24-hour control of access to the gate from the shed. The Director of Development Control Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Tpl Muktar Galadima has been enjoined to focus on his work and not get distracted by falsehoods and petitions by “some blackmailers who don’t mean well for Abuja” The call was contained in a press statement issued on Thursday by a civil society organisation , Pro-Impact Initiative and signed by its Coordinator, Dr Osamudiamen Isokpehi. The group described as :“Total Fabrication of lies and malicious write up” a petition written against the Director and submitted to House of Representatives public petition’s committee. Dr Isokpehi pointed out that the , “petitioners, blinded by their desire to destroy a proactive public servant, gathered all the falsehoods their brains can conjure, mix them with half truth to make them look genuine and put them on paper with the sole intention of derailing the Director from doing his noble job” “ Firstly , they accused Tpl Galadima of registering many companies to launder money and do business. But the only mentioned two companies claiming he registered them and still remain their director. Tpl Galadima was shocked to be linked to MERITAGE HOMESLIMITED , a firm he was hearing for the first time. We can tell the public that The Director was instructed by counsel to write to the company and demand explanation as to how and why he became a director of the company. The replied of the company gave completely exonerate him from being part of the company as at no time did he agreed or sat in a board meeting to be a director in that company”. “ The second firm , TERRESTERIAL DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT LIMITED, we gathered reliably is a company he registered more than 20yrs ago to enable him participate in farming in his village but since 2002 when the company was registered he has not used the company.“ On allegations that the director enriched himself by allocating and acquiring plots of lands in the FCT, the group pointed out that ” the power of allocating a land in the FCT is vested on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as contained in the Land Use Act and the President out of his wisdom, delegated that sole responsibility to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory who allocate land. The Director have no power whatsoever to allocate land to anyone since he has not served as Minister of FCT. If any FCT ministers in the past considered him worthy and allocated a plot of land to him as has been done to hundreds of thousands of Nigerians , he cannot be accused of enriching himself” “ “ Permit us to state plainly that Tpl Galadima like every hardworking Nigerian has right to legally own land and property, either through direct purchase or allocation by a minister. There is completely nothing wrong in this. How did we reached this point when people will be petitioned on allegations that they own a land or house which is not a proceed of fraud or illegality? The group, however, called on the The National Assembly, precisely the House of Representatives’ committee on public petition to disregard petition against the Director of Development control department which is “only crafted by its writers to derail the Director from doing his job” for lack of substance and intention to blackmail. Dr Isokpehi pointed out that, “ with the kind of job the director does, the petition did not come to us a surprise. Ridding Abuja of Illegal structures and correcting land use contraventions is a very tough and risky job. He stepped on toes of those who violates the Abuja master plan and refused to bend the rules for those who want compromise the system. Finding no fault in the discharge of his work, they now decided to go into other path in search of anything they can lay their hands on the destroy passionate public servant of repute”

The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kogi State, has called on security agencies to be professional in discharging thier duities during the fourth coming election in the state. Speaking at a press briefing in Ilorin on Wednesday, the Campaign Spokesperson for the governorship candidate of the party, Mr Kingsley Fanwo expressed reservations on the recent security operations in some parts of Kogi East, especially in Dekina LGA where he alleged that chieftains of the party were arrested without any justifiable cause. Fanwo who said the APC subscribed to peaceful and free polls also called for responsible conduct on the part of law enforcement agencies. "Gentlemen of the Press. We have brought you here today to bring you up to speed on progress and issues surrounding the electioneering as well as the activities of the APC as we gear towards the Nov. 11 governorship election in Kogi state. "The APC Governorship Campaign Council has expressed reservations on the recent security operations in some parts of Kogi East, especially in Dekina LGA where chieftains of our party were arrested for reasons unknown to us. "Our chieftains were not involved in any act inimical to the peace of the state and should not have been subjected to such treatment. "In as much as we subscribe to peaceful and free poll, we also call for responsible conduct on the part of law enforcement agencies in such a way that innocent citizens are not unnecessarily punished for the sins of others. "We would not condone or defend any act of lawlessness, but we make bold to say that our leaders and members that were arrested and detained did not deserve to be subjected to such treatment as they are innocent. "We call on security agencies to release them unconditionally so that they can be reunited with their families", he said. The campaign spokesperson said that security agencies must prove that every life is important. He called on citizens of the state to come out en masse to make a big statement in order to ensure that the state will never be in the hands of division merchants and ethnic bigots. "A member of the APC was murdered in cold blood at Kotonkarfe for daring to wear a fez cap with the logo of the APC on the day the blood suckers were in town. "It is sad that security agencies have not informed us how far they have gone in apprehending the trigger happy thugs that committed the murder. "We salute advocacy groups who have not lost their voices in seeking justice for Khadija, acts of terrorism must not be allowed in politics and the surest way to arrest the trend of political violence is to ensure perpetrators are brought to book. "Those who killed Khadija have continued to think they can step on her blood to power. "Those perpetrating violence know themselves. "We call on Kogi people to troop out on Nov.11, we must speak unmistakably that as a people, we believe in consolidation and continuity of the laudable achievements of the present administration", he said. He said that those who killed for power; those who swim in mediocrity and falsehood; those who are enshrined in forgery and rumour-mongering will get their scorecards from the Kogi people on Nov. 11. He assured that the candidate of the APC will not govern with vindictiveness, saying, he will heal the wounds and move the state forward. "For us, Nov.11 is not just a date, but a doctrine of reward for good work. "Let it be made clear to all that the leadership of the APC is committed and determined to keep the state within the progressive family", he said. Fanwo said that the People's Democratic Party(PDP) candidate was not a threat to the victory of APC candidate in the state. "While we have chosen not to join issues with them, their ignorance and hate campaign have strengthened the resolve of the Kogi people not to replace greatness with mediocrity. "It must be on record that their bitterness and ethnic jingoism are borne out of the frustration of being rejected by the people. They have failed in selling themselves. They have failed in selling their manifestos. They have failed in deceiving the people. The people have rejected division. They have failed in discrediting a successful administration. We thank the people of Kogi for showing resilience and faith in our candidate. "Our appreciation also goes to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu , GCFR, for insisting on credible poll and for also showing support to his party as the National Leader of the party. "Ahmed Usman Ododo will ensure Mr President is not disappointed. We thank the National Chairman of our party and all the leaders and members of the National and Local Campaign Councils. "We have run a campaign that has kept our state together and reassure our people that the next administration will consolidate and continue with the laudable achievements of the present administration, with Ododo, Kogi will be better", he assured.

In the wake of the recent launch of a probe into alleged illegal foreign exchange dealings and money laundering amounting to a staggering $3.4 billion reportedly carried out by the Dangote Group over the past decade, President Bola Tinubu's appointed Special Investigator, Jim Obazee, finds himself facing an increasing barrage of death threats from anonymous callers, according to reliable sources. Prior investigations by First News had already unveiled that Obazee, along with his family and team members, had been subjected to threats from unidentified vested interests, including influential figures within the powerful Aso Rock cabal. However, these threats to Obazee's life, his family, and his committee members have intensified significantly in the past few days, coinciding with the commencement of the investigation into the latest petition against the Dangote Group. These threats have primarily been communicated through direct phone calls and SMS messages. Impeccable sources reveal that these anonymous callers are demanding Obazee and his team redirect their investigative focus away from the allegations against the private conglomerate and other high-profile cases. Instead, they are being pressured to discontinue the ongoing probe, with the callers making veiled threats against the lives of Obazee and his loved ones. Furthermore, these anonymous callers have indicated their intention to use financial inducements to influence top Presidency and Federal Government officials into pushing for the termination of Obazee's ongoing investigations. Since his appointment, Obazee's tenacity and determination have raised concerns among top officials of certain Federal Government agencies, as well as those in various Government Business Entities (GBEs) and influential individuals involved in the probe of the apex bank and the GBEs. The Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein has been enjoined not to be distracted in the discharge of her duty but remain resolute in the face of challenges. A Civil Society Group, Nigeria Women Professional Alliances, (NWPA) gave the charge over the weekend during an interactive session with newsmen. Spokesperson for the group, Mrs Christine Ezekwe said they decided to come out and voice their position, following what they termed, “ Unprovoked attacks against a woman who is just doing her professional noble job” Mrs Ezekwe explained that, “ we read in some sections of the media that some directors wrote petitioned against the Accountant General of the federation claiming she was not qualify to be on the seat. How on earth will people who see her progress in her carrier as a well-bred professional wake up one day to fabricate such gruesome lie” “When Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein was appointed the Accountant General of the Federation there was Joy and high expectations across all facets of Nigeria regardless of gender, religious or ethnic affiliation. Her emergence gave hope to millions of young girls across the thirty-six states of the federation and the FCT that they can aspire to any position in Nigeria. Today, few men woke up wrote petitions and wanted to paint her black for not dancing to their tunes” The group appealed to the Accountant General to remember she is an ambassador of the Nigerian woman and go about her duty passionately to actualise the dreams of President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. They lamented that, “ one thing we find real disturbing is the fact that women in positions of authority go through a lot. Many just believe that because they are women they cannot take certain tough decisions or be their boss. Some can endure incompetence and non-performance from anyone, but when it comes to women working upright in the discharge of their duties, they get very offended”. Mrs Ezekwe pointed out that at a time when Nigerian women are clamouring for more seats in governance they cannot watch their unacceptable few number depleted by some persons who , “ have left their offices to start chasing shadows” The group spokesperson said, “ it is time these few directors who were affected by the recent postings done by the Accountant General accept their new offices and let the Accountant General breathe” |

A Lagos family, popularly known as Bolade, has tackled Wema Bank Plc over the continued use of its building premises known as Bolade House, located in Oshodi Expressway, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of the state, following a breakdown of agreement. PUNCH Metro gathered that despite the family ejection order served on the bank, the management of the financial institution was said to have refused to vacate the premises According to a document provided to our correspondent, the family leased the property to Wema Bank in 1995 for 25 years, which expired on April 30, 2020. When the lease expired, the bank was said to have pleaded for time to relocate, causing the bank a three-year tenancy, which was said to have run from May 1, 2020, and expired on April 30, 2023, at a rate of N6m per annum. However, when this expired, the family’s lawyer and the bank re-entered another round of negotiation, leading to a five-year tenancy rent of N8m per annum, which was later rejected by the family, who believed the property was worth more than the money the bank intended to pay. Speaking, the head of the family, Madam Helen Kupoluyi, said they could not accept the offer because the apartment was valued at over N50m by a property valuer the family employed. Kupoluyi said, “When the bank leased out the middle floor and was collecting rent on it without our consent, we never complained. We told them to employ their valuation of the building to get an appropriate rent for the building, but they refused. We charged them in court, but they refused to show up. We want them out of our building premises.” Read full story below https://newsextra.com.ng/2023/09/27/moruf-osenis-wema-bank-lagos-family-fight-dirty-over-property/

On Tuesday, September 26, the Polish delegation led by the Chief Coordinator of the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Dr. Abbey Onas paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Customs Service at its corporate headquarters in Abuja. Dr. Onas narrated his visit to Poland and how it was tangential to the invitation of the investors into Nigeria. He appreciated the role of the Customs Service in making it easy for investors to operate within the country. While soliciting for smoother relations between the Service and the companies in the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, he requested a visit from the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to the Free Trade Zone. The Technical director of ZGM Investment Group, Architect Zakirudeen Oladotun noted that the essence of the visit was to introduce the investors to the structure in charge of importations, as some of their businesses would require this. The investment team assured the Service of their readiness to abide by the necessary rules and regulations in ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship between Nigeria and Poland. The Deputy Comptroller-General, Human Resources Development, Greg Itotoh lauded the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone for aiding the transfer of technology to the local population. He also appreciated the compliance of its investors in terms of the accuracy of their calculations of raw materials in paying duties. JP Ajoku, the DCG, Excise, FTZ and Industrial Incentives, also urged the team to be compliant and consult with the service in the event of any issue. The Acting Comptroller-General of the Service, Bashir Adeniyi, mentioned that he would visit the Free Trade Zone at a time that would be convenient for everyone. He assured the team that the service's doors will always be open to them. He also wished the team a happy stay in Nigeria and a safe journey back to Poland.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has put every necessary process in place to make the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ), an impetus for foreign and local investors, the Coordinator OGFTZ, Dr. Abbey Onas has stated. Addressing stakeholders in Abeokuta on his recent visit to Poland for an investment/economic forum, Onas said he was essentially at the international forum in his capacity as the Coordinator of the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ). “My mission on that foreign land was clear: to woo global investors to Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria. That meeting was the 32nd in the series of the Economic Forum that has become a tradition. It was a gathering of leading investors and economic giants that came with lots of opportunities,” The coordinator said the body language of the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so far speaks to its readiness to tap economic opportunities from across the world and open up Nigeria for business and investment, pointing out that the President has assumed the role of the Chief Marketing Officer of Nigeria and Africa, telling the global audience at every avenue that we're ready for mutually beneficial partnerships. “Most recently at the United Nations General Assembly, President Tinubu argued that Africa is not a problem to be avoided, calling the rest of the world to work with the continent as the key to the world's future. His presentation at the session has been applauded as masterful. “This body language of the federal government, in addition to the investment drive of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, is what I've seen and is motivating me to push for economic opportunities from across the world to the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone.” Abbey pointed out that Governor Abiodun has made huge investments in critical sectors that attract and sustain investment in the state, especially in the area of road infrastructure, transportation, energy, security and others. He has done creditably well in his first tenure, raising the hopes of the people that more will come in this second tenure. “In his determination to make Ogun State a major investment destination in Nigeria and by extension Africa, Governor Abiodun established the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency. This government organ has the mandate to attract investors into the state; coordinate private sector investment activities, and streamline processes and procedures to ease investors’ experience in setting up their businesses in the state. That was a brilliant initiative whose positive impact has begun to manifest, as Ogun is now a state of interest for many investors. Governor Abiodun has also supported this with the construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads and road networks in the state. Over 400km roads have been touched by the Dapo Abiodun-led administration of Ogun State. This, no doubt, has changed the face of the state and eased transportation within Ogun. Good road networks are a major catalyst for investment. It's exciting that Governor Abiodun has his eyes fixated on renewing road networks in Ogun State,” Speaking on the measures being put in place to consolidate on protection of lives and properties in the state, the coordinator said the state government was aware of the place of security in attracting investment. “Ogun people are generally peaceful and welcoming. They are always ready to extend the hands of fellowship to visitors. Governor Abiodun has also strengthened the security architecture of the state by keying into the Amotekun initiative of Southwestern regional governments in Nigeria. This is in addition to restructuring the Security Trust Fund of the state which has made it possible to mobilise resources for security personnel. The adoption of ultramodern security techniques such as drones and other sophisticated technology in surveillance and monitoring the state has prevented criminal gangs from gaining a foothold. The security of the state can always get better. “Indeed, I've seen the investment drive of Governor Dapo Abiodun over the years, and it is really propelling me to make moves on my own to attract investment to the state. We have a Governor that has a growth and progressive mindset. “So, at the economic forum, I made a case for Africa, Nigeria and Ogun State. This was even long before the President's address at UNGA 78. My message was similar to that of the President. I told the session which has a global audience that Africa should not be seen as a challenging investment terrain. On the contrary, we have the presence of highly educated Nigerians and Africans eager to collaborate with global partners in achieving great feats. “Some investors might want to wait to see how things pan out. However, this may be costly for them. It was my view at the economic forum that with the pace at which the present administration of President Tinubu is working on securing foreign investments, such category of investors might miss out on the available opportunities. The perfect time to invest in Nigeria is therefore NOW,” Speaking further on the direct advantage of his recent trip to Poland, Onas painted a glowing picture of what on the 23rd of September, when a select number of accomplished Polish investors and seasoned CEOs from reputable companies in Poland and Europe from diverse industries arrived Abuja to usher in new possibilities and collaborations between Nigeria and Polland. He stated that the visit was a follow-up on the fruitful discussions had at the Economic summit and aimed at exploring investment opportunities and establishing fruitful partnerships within Nigeria. In the final analysis, he called on investors to look inward and consider the opportunities in Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Nigeria, which he said serves as a powerful reminder of the untapped potential in Africa’s rapidly evolving economic landscape. “We are open for business and partnership. The Dapo Abiodun-led administration is making progressive policies and programmes that support investment and business in the state,” he added.

Gospel music act, Kenny St. Brown, has said the entertainment industry in the country needs a regulatory body to safeguard artistes and creatives. Brown made this known during 'The Morning Show' on Arise TV Friday, while discussing the death of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka MohBad. In her words, "What we are seeing now is as a result of neglect. Neglect from the government, neglect from the system that should have provided a regulation, policies, protection, and defense but, this is an industry. "The entertainment industry in Nigeria is organically grown, and because it is organically grown, they think issues can be settled without a third party. "It has gotten to a stage where things have gone beyond our hands. The entertainment industry is porous anyone can start a label and sign artiste, no regulatory body to curtail this. "If the pharmaceutical industry can have a regulatory body called NAFDAC, creatives should have one too. "Until we have a regulatory body for the entertainment industry, record labels will continue to expolit these young acts." The Chief Executive Officer of Omolamina Global Ventures Limited (OGL), Otunba Kamorudeen Lamina popularly known as Sir K Oluwo has denied threatening the Jiboro family over a land tussle. Jiboro Family had accused Sir K Oluwo of threatening to kill them one by one for an eight plots of land which they claimed Sir K Oluwo fraudulently acquired from their family. They also explained that they have written a petition to the police regarding the issue. In his response, Sir K Oluwo made it known that he has nothing to do with the Jiboro family and cannot recognize any of them because he has never done business with them before. On the land in question, Sir K Oluwo explained that he purchased them from Princess Josephine Momoh who had the documents and judgment from the federal high court to lay claims to the land. Sir K revealed that the police have also authenticated Princess Josephine Momoh’s ownership of the land with documents attached to back it up. He further accused the Jiboro Family of hiring thugs and notorious criminals to forcefully take over the land which they have no right over. Read his response below I have nothing to do with the Jiboro family, I can’t see them on the road and recognize them and that’s why When I saw the publication they made yesterday, I was surprised because we have never had any direct dealing. All I know is my company purchased 9 plots of Land from Princess Josephine Momoh and before we purchased it, we saw all the documents authenticating her ownership of the landed property. We saw the judgment from the federal high court because police were the ones in the vicinity before and we saw the judgment she got from the federal high court where she won. We also saw the document she got when she purchased 5 acres and 3 plots of the landed property from the family; all of these are available in the documents. We were not the only ones that bought landed property from her but after we got it, Jiboro family went to hire Mayaki Suleiman, Germani Oropo, Opafemi , Kehinde Onikoyo, Alowonlo, Segun Adebayo who escaped from prison yard in 2013, Tunmise Baba Alaba; they were all there with guns during the day and night. We had to go back to Princess Momoh to complain about the land she sold to us, she also complained about their activities and said she had written a petition to the inspector general of police. We also decided to write our petition and the police came and met the Jiboro family with caterpillars, destroying structures on the land. The NPF stopped them and asked them to come to Abuja. When they got to Abuja, it was established that truly, Princess Momoh owns the landed property and the DIG requested that every activity should be stopped on the land but they didn’t listen. Miyaki has been boasting that the landed property we got has been shared to top officers in Abuja and that we can’t have access to them so I thought to myself that there is law in Nigeria and due to my knowledge of the law, I wrote to the Commissioner Of Police and DIG. When they saw that all their secrets had been exposed, they went to bring up this issue, not knowing them but they were the ones that hired land grabbers. Miyaki was a herder before he became a land grabber. Miyaki has been involved in several criminal cases. I use this opportunity to tell Nigerians that I don’t have business with the Jiboro family, I have documents for my property and every Nigerian buying landed property from these people around the police station in Shagamu risks losing their money. Princess Momoh had gotten the landed property since 1998 and the signal used to release these properties to her is all available in a document. Three days ago, they went to Onyabo’s office to shoot, one of their victims is currently in the hospital. I haven’t received any petition from them because their petition wasn’t even received by the police.

Speaking at the 32nd Economic Forum in Karpacz, Southwestern Poland, Dr. Onas urged the European country especially Poland to see reason to invest more in Nigeria particularly Ogun state where he is the coordinator of the Free Trade Zone. He delivered a paper titled : Investment Renaissance: Unlocking a World of Opportunities in Africa and Nigeria for Polish and European Investors . The full text is reproduced verbatim here. Dear Esteemed Investors. The dawn of a new era is upon us. Africa, the world's second-largest and second-most-populous continent, is not merely a land of untapped potential; it is a canvas of unfolding economic miracles. Particularly in Nigeria, where the economy is galvanized by a fervor for innovation and sustainable growth, the landscape is rife with prospects that extend a warm invitation to Polish and European investors. This is not conjecture; it's backed by a series of resounding success stories across diversified sectors. Agricultural Innovation Precision Farming Investment in technologies like drone surveillance, soil sensors, and data analytics can revolutionize farming efficiency and yields. Agro-Processing: As discussed earlier, transforming raw produce into value-added products presents a golden opportunity for high returns. Aquaculture and Livestock: With rising consumer demand, there’s room for innovation and investment in sustainable fish farming and livestock management. Examples to Consider: Farmcrowdy has revolutionized digital agriculture in Nigeria by bridging the gap between small farmers and investors. Olam, a global agribusiness player, has successfully scaled agro-processing in the cocoa sector. Why Invest? : From precision farming to aquaculture, the agricultural sector promises high returns and offers an avenue for sustainable investment aligned with global development goals. Digital Transformation E-commerce Platforms: The rapid urbanization and growing middle-class population offer a booming market for online retail. Fintech : With a large unbanked population, digital banking and payment systems have immense growth potential. Telemedicine : Investing in health tech can bridge the gap between remote areas and quality healthcare services. Examples to Consider: Companies like Jumia and Flutterwave stand as shining examples of success, providing crucial e-commerce and fintech services. Why Invest ?: With increasing urbanization and a growing middle class, the digital sector promises unparalleled growth and revenue potential. Sustainable Infrastructure Transport Networks: From roads to ports, sustainable infrastructure projects are key to economic development and offer long-term investment potential. Urban Planning: With rapid urbanization, there’s an increasing need for smart cities with efficient waste management, water systems, and housing. Examples to Consider: Julius Berger, a titan in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, illustrates the long-term and high-reward nature of infrastructure investments. Why Invest?: As Africa's population grows, the demand for sustainable infrastructure from transportation to urban planning offers a long-term investment frontier. Manufacturing and Industrialization Textile Industry: Africa’s rich tradition in fabrics can be modernized and scaled up to meet global demand. Automotive Manufacturing: As the consumer base grows, so does the need for vehicles, presenting an opportunity for automotive industries. Pharmaceuticals: With healthcare needs rising, there's a vast market for pharmaceutical production. Examples to Consider: Companies like Dangote Cement and Innoson Motors serve as pioneers in manufacturing and industrialization. Why Invest? The landscape is open for investors to explore everything from textiles to automotive manufacturing, promising robust financial returns and market dominance. Intra-Africa Trade Logistics and Supply Chain: As the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) comes into effect, there will be a surge in the need for logistics solutions. Trade Facilitation Services: Customs, quality checks, and trade finance services will grow in importance, offering investment opportunities. Examples to Consider: Interswitch is revolutionizing digital payments, making intra-Africa trade more fluid. Why Invest? The inauguration of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has blown the lid off the trade sector, making it a haven for investors seeking to tap into a new, expansive market. Renewable Energy Solar and Wind Energy: Given Africa’s geographical attributes, these sectors offer excellent investment avenues for sustainable power generation. Hydro and Geothermal: Water-rich regions and tectonic activities present opportunities for hydroelectric and geothermal energy production. Examples to Consider: Azuri Technologies in the solar energy space and the Lake Turkana Wind Power project in Kenya are examples of renewable energy's untapped potential. Why Invest?: As the world pivots to sustainable energy, Africa's abundant natural resources offer lucrative investment opportunities in solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy. As the continent embarks on an ambitious industrialization drive, focused on sectors like agro-processing and solid mineral refining, the opportunities for European investors are immense and multifaceted. Here’s why your participation could be not just beneficial but ground-breaking. High Return on Investment The early stages of industrialization often yield the highest returns. With abundant raw materials and a burgeoning labour market, the cost of production in Africa remains relatively low. This translates to higher profit margins and quick capital turnover. Sectors like agro-processing and solid mineral refining, central to Africa's industrialization drive, are particularly ripe for investment. First-Mover Advantage Being an early investor in Africa's industrialization drive gives you a strategic edge: the first-mover advantage. By establishing your footprint now, you have the opportunity to shape industry standards, influence regulatory policies, and build long-lasting relationships with local communities and governments. This could also facilitate market dominance and offer a competitive advantage in a new but fast-growing market. Diverse Investment Avenues Africa’s industrialization is not a monolithic venture but a multifaceted initiative. Whether it's agriculture, mining, technology, or manufacturing, the diversity of sectors under development allows for a wide range of investment portfolios. This diversity provides a natural hedge against risks and allows for more balanced and resilient investment strategies. Access to a Growing Consumer Base Africa is home to a rapidly expanding consumer market, driven by a growing middle class and increased urbanization. By investing in industries that cater to this demographic shift, you are essentially buying into a future market that is set to expand exponentially over the next decades. Sustainable Investments There’s a growing global emphasis on sustainable and socially responsible investment. Africa’s focus on sectors like agro-processing can provide a pathway for investments aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as poverty reduction, sustainable economic growth, and responsible production and consumption. Your investment would not just be about profit but also about making a tangible impact. Partnership and Collaboration Investing in Africa opens doors for cross-continental partnerships, including public-private partnerships (PPPs) and collaborations with existing European Union (EU) and African Union (AU) programs. These partnerships can provide additional layers of security and viability to your investment, backed by both diplomatic and economic frameworks. Strategic Geopolitical Positioning As global power dynamics shift, having a strong economic presence in Africa could be strategically significant. The continent is increasingly central in global geopolitics, and your investment can serve as a conduit for enhancing diplomatic ties and strengthening economic relations between Europe and Africa. In summary, Africa's industrialization drive presents an opportunity that is as rich in potential as it is diverse in scope. For European investors looking to expand their horizons and make impactful investments, there's no better time to engage than now. The continent is not just offering a chance for economic gains; it's extending an invitation to be part of a transformative journey that will shape the future of global economics and geopolitics. Seize the opportunity; be part of the African growth story. THE NEED FOR FOREIGN INVESTORS Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) can act as a significant catalyst in the industrialization drive focused on agro-processing and solid mineral refining in Nigeria and, by extension, Africa. Here's how: Financial Capital One of the most immediate benefits of FDI is the infusion of financial capital. Developing an industrial base requires significant investment in infrastructure, technology, and skilled labor. FDI can provide the necessary capital to kickstart these industries, easing the burden on domestic resources. Technological Transfer Foreign investors often bring along not just capital but also technology and expertise. For industries like agro-processing and mineral refining, which are technology-intensive, this transfer of knowledge can be invaluable. It can lead to the modernization of local industries, making them more efficient and competitive on a global scale. Skill Development FDI often comes with training and skill development for local employees. Whether it's managerial practices or specialized technical skills, the knowledge transfer can have long-lasting benefits for the domestic workforce, thereby contributing to human capital development. Market Access Foreign investors usually have better access to international markets. By investing in Nigeria's agro-processing or solid mineral sectors, they can potentially open doors to new markets, increasing the export potential of value-added products. This expanded market reach can enhance revenue and contribute to a favorable balance of trade. Regulatory Improvements The entry of foreign investors can also prompt improvements in the regulatory environment. For investment to flow smoothly, issues related to property rights, tax policies, and other investment-related laws often need to be addressed. This can lead to a more business-friendly environment, benefiting not just the foreign investors but also local entrepreneurs. Risk Diversification By attracting FDI, Nigeria and other African countries can diversify their economic base. Rather than relying solely on domestic investment and government expenditure for industrialization, FDI brings in an additional, often more stable, source of investment capital. Regional Integration As Nigeria attracts more FDI in these sectors, it could become a hub for agro-processing and mineral refining in West Africa or even across the continent. This could spur regional industrial clusters, enabling other countries to develop complementary industries. In conclusion, Foreign Direct Investment can offer a multifaceted enhancement to Nigeria's industrialization efforts in agro-processing and solid mineral refining. It's not just about the capital but also the technological advances, skill development, and global market access that come with it. By strategically attracting and managing FDI, Nigeria and Africa as a whole can significantly accelerate their journey towards sustainable industrialization and economic development.

DSS is investigating a mega economic fraud involving Olam Nigeria Limited, Olam International and their nine subsidiaries to the tune of over $50billion. In a chain of round-tripping foreign exchange deals since 2015, the company, through its Special Purpose Vehicles, SPVs, had booked about $34 billion with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as capital importation at official rates. But instead of investing the money into the Nigerian economy, sources said the company round-tripped the forex and sold to business men, especially oil and gas marketers and industries such Indorama and Fouani, at parallel market rates. Investigation revealed that Olam usually directed the forex buyers to lodge the naira equivalent into the account of one or many of its SPVs during the period under review. Although some of the companies have fictitious Nigerians as directors, the accounts are solely managed by the Indian expatriates, some of whom are based in Europe and Asia. As the SSS opens probe into the FX fraud and anchor-borrower scheme deals that took place under the suspended governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, the country’s secret police has uncovered a chain of shell companies linked to Olam. Sources said security agents uncovered traces of transfers into accounts controlled by Aminu Yaro, one of the ‘fronts’ of the embattled CBN governor.
