meshacha1:Good question. Something that happened on Friday and he is just telling us now. David Mark will always be David Mark. APC should be very careful with this guy especially in regards to the election of a new senate president. |
JingoOAU:You are the only one that just raised a very serious argument. David Mark could be lying. After intimidating the opposition and even his people in Benue he is here claiming victim? David Mark is a schemer. |
vivacious01:You can only believe David Mark when you don't know him. Come to Benue and see what he has done to his people - the Idoma's. He is just a schemer. After intimidating the opposition in Benue state, he is now claiming victim? |
There is a plot by PDP senators to spring a surprise by taking the senate presidency from the APC, and the grand schemer behind this plot is the "Machiavelli of Idoma politics", David Mark. APC better put their house in order by presenting a consensus candidate. They should make a choice between Lawan and Saraki since Akume has accepted to deputize Lawan. If they allow the contest to be open, they might just lose the senate presidency to David Mark. We in Benue know David Mark to be a schemer; i will advice APC to be careful. Read the full story below: PDP orders senators to vote one candidate: A few days to the convening of the eighth National Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a plot to take the Senate presidency from the All Progressives Congress (APC) which controls the majority of senators. But the APC is not taking chances. It has summoned a meeting of its lawmakers to forge a united front. The plot, if it succeeds, may lead to the return of outgoing Senate President David Mark and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu to their positions. The PDP has directed its 49 senators to vote for one candidate when the eighth Senate convenes. The APC is left with 59 Senators following the death of reelected Borno Senator Ahmed Zanna. Although APC ought to produce the next President of the Senate, with its simple majority, the party has not reached a consensus. Senate Committee on Public Accounts Chairman Ahmed Lawan and Ecology Committee Chairman Bukola Saraki are locked in a battle of popularity for the job. The Nation learnt that PDP leaders at the party’s retreat in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for its senators-elect and members of the House of Representatives-elect mooted the idea of the opposition retaining the senate presidency. It was gathered that the PDP leaders agreed that with block votes by its 49 senators, the party could win the must coveted seat with a simple majority. The permutation of the PDP is that APC might be unable to birdge the gap between Lawan and Saraki. A highly-placed source said: “The PDP leaders held a secret meeting in Port Harcourt on Monday night to finetune the plot. “The development may see Mark and Ekweremadu joining the race in a ‘tactical moment’ if the APC remains divided. “The PDP is seeking to retain the office because there is no rule which says either the majority party or the opposition should produce the president of the Senate.” The source cited Section 50 (1) of the 1999 Constitution to back the lacuna. The section says: “There shall be a President and a Deputy President of the Senate who shall be elected by the members of that House from among themselves…” Apparently sensing the danger in going into the Senate presidency race divided, the APC leadership has called a meeting of its senators and Representatives for tomorrow in Abuja. A statement by National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed inviting the lawmakers to the meeting did not reveal the agenda. It only urged them to be punctual at the International Conference Centre venue. The meetings with the senators and the Reps will hold separately. It was, however, learnt that the meetings might be used to galvanise a consensus. As for the PDP, it was learnt that some of its governors have offered to bankroll the project to “pay back APC in its own coin for controlling the Seventh House of Representatives even when President Goodluck Jonathan was still in charge”. Another source added: “We also want to spring a surprise and prove that anything is possible in politics. Once Mark and Ekweremadu are back in the saddle, APC will need at least the support of 72 or 73 members to remove them. “If you look at Section 50 (2) (c), the votes of not less than two-thirds majority of the Senate are required to remove the President of the Senate and deputy.” “The PDP is trying to capitalise on internal wrangling within APC to realise its agenda.” A third source however spoke of Plan B by some PDP leaders bordering on block votes. The source added: “What the Port Harcourt retreat has so far achieved is the need for PDP senators-elect to vote enbloc based on prevailing circumstances in the Senate. “The horse-trading will determine the direction of PDP bloc votes although the opposition is waiting in the wing for any slip.” In his speech at the retreat in Port Harcourt, the outgoing President of the Senate, Chief David Mark, pleaded with PDP members-elect in the National Assembly to be united. Mark said: “We must subject our individual interest to our group interest. In the election of principal officers of National Assembly, we must vote in one accord. We must know that united we stand, divided we fall. “We must take our destinies in our hands. We must be ready to provide credible, vibrant, determined and focused opposition to the party in power in a manner that would guarantee development and good governance. “In doing so, we must maintain a strong synergy between our members in the National Assembly and the National Working Committee. The PDP is still a brand all Nigerians know. We just need to reinvent the wheels and move forward.” Source: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/apc-moves-to-stop-pdps-plot-for-senate-president/ |
Jesusloveyou:You thought wrongly! |
aresa:My challenge with Barcanista is that he thinks he is too intelligent when in reality he isn't. He over rates his level of intelligence and other TANoids see him as their model. |
Decale:No you are not dumb. People like Barcanista would want to make you feel otherwise. Somebody has been in office for roughly 48 hours yet barcanista is here screaming foul. Barcanista since you know too much how long did it take late president Yar'adua to declare his asset public? I think it was about a month after his inauguration. Do you know why it took that long? I'll tell you. That's because the CCB had to finish with their verification. President Buhari has not even spent up to a week in office and barcanista is already making noise. |
idupaul:Hahahahahahahaha |
hottest111:Hahahahahaha. Thanks for making me laugh. still laughing... |
Johnnyessence:Nice prediction. And to add to it, Senator George Akume - Deputy Senate president. |
omonnakoda:Very intelligent response! Kai you even sound more intelligent than the so called economist. I love your post. |
Wow!!! I feel like getting married right now. Congrats Newman. |
Is this etcetera or etc guy well at all? How much is Arsenal worth? Around $1.3 billion dollars. This guy is just a comedian. |
bettercreature:Lie! There is something like a relationship without sex. Oh! I just realised you said girl friend. Boy friend-girl friend is for babies. |
bruno419:Must you sleep with her? |
@OP. Is sex all thers is to a relationship? Must a guy and a girl in a relationship have sex? The world has really turned unpside down. So sex from a girl you are dating is now seen as dividends or payment? To answer your question, a guy has a lot to gain from a relationship without sex. #fact |
missclasssy:The most sensible comment i have read. Is sex all there is to a relationship? |
Abubakar Tsav should go and sit down! I still remember how he was always in the media having something to say against George Akume, former governor of Benue state. But fast forward to Suswam's government, the worse Benue state has ever seen, Tsav lost his voice. We knew "water passed under bridge". Tsav is just seeking for relevance. |
Enough of this age nonsense. My state had a very young governor in the person of Gabriel Suswam. He became the governor of Benue state in his early 40s but his government is the definition of failure. He brought a young PDP candidate who is in his late 30s telling us it is time for the younger generation but we refused to be deceived and voted the APC candidate who is in his 50s. Age doesn't necessarily equate performance. BTW is FFK not young? |
This guy is funny! MTN and Shoprite employs millions of Nigerians? Hahahaha... Let me educate you. MTN Nigeria has told us 6000 Nigerians will lose jobs if they (MTN) leave. You should know that MTN and Shoprite combined do not employ up to 50,000 Nigerians directly. And for your information MTN has more to lose than Nigeria. This is why: MTN Nigeria is the biggest operation of the entire MTN Group. In 2010 the Nigerian market contributed 29% to the total revenue of the group which was 115 billion Rand. Now Fast forward to 2014; the Nigerian operation has 59.9 million subscribers out of a total subscriber base of 223.4 milion. With a total group revenue of $12.43 billion dollars, and MTN Nigeria contributing about 26% of this revenue, MTN can't afford to lose Nigeria. We are not talking of attacking South Africans, no we are more civilized. We are talking about putting economic sanctions on SA companies. South African economy biggest That's a matter for another day. Remember i have not even given the analysis for Multichoice...Nigeria is also their biggest market. You said only 7 persons have been killed. Are those lives not humans You better shut up and get out of Nairaland like you said.#Nonsense |
seankafor:In what way do you want to compare Nigeria and Japan? Is it in economy or development? Just forget it. We all love Nigeria as Nigerians but the truth is there is no comparison between Japan and Nigeria. Japan is far ahead of us. Note: I'm deliberately refusing to delve into economic details and facts. |
Obiagelli:That's the problem i have with Barcanista since he became a TANoid. He thinks he knows too much when the reality is that he doesn't. Telling Obiageli that he wants to bring things to his level is just a show of arrogance. I don't like people that feel they know too much when they know just little. |
Nonsense! All the people shouting David Mark has good leadership qualities and bla bla bla should come to Idoma land and see the mess. A good leader that can't fix the only road leading to his home town. Just like someone pointed out, David Mark has been able to hold the senate because of his inclination to corruption...when he has increased his own pay and that of fellow senators why should they complain? David Mark is one of the worst things that has happened to Idoma land...his senate president position for 8 years has been useless to us. I said last year that the fall of David Mark would be shameful because of his greed. Is he the only Idoma man that he would continue to rig himself to represent the people? David Mark should get used to being a floor member. This is just the beginning of his fall. |
2oddMASTER:Hahahahaha. Thanks for making me laugh. But the entire Merrybet is not even worth 1% of that figure. |
VictoryAfrica:I don't agree with you on Amaechi. His name shouldn't be among the biggest losers. No! Amaechi fought a good fight and i respect his courage. Time will tell whether he has lost his influence. Rivers state would be on our radar. |
sosanova:The fact that you can't make a meaningful comment without insults shows how brainless you are. You just confirmed that you are a compound fool. |
After losing the presidential elections to the APC (soon to become the ruling or “governing” party), the PDP has been extremely desperate to win Lagos governorship for obvious reasons: The PDP has lost its relevance in the country so they are in search of a place where they can gather together to continue their evil. They have lost Abuja to the people’s general, Rivers state is now under the control of ‘the last Don, Rotimi Amaechi’ since the victory of GMB, so they can’t go there. The last point of call is Lagos state. But I believe that would also fail. Lagosians should be wise. Lagos has tasted good governance under the APC; we are not saying the APC is a party of saints, but the truth remains that they are performing. Come to Benue state and Abia just to mention a few and see the failure of the PDP. Now if Nigerians voted against PDP at the presidential elections is it Lagos state that should be contemplating voting PDP? God forbid!!! I have heard and read talks about the Igbos deciding on voting Agbaje as governor in Lagos. Hmm! Let me remind the Igbos of something. The Igbos in the South East voted against the APC and today the position of the Senate President that would have naturally gone to the South East would move to another zone because there is no single APC senator from the zone. That was a political miscalculation if you ask me. At least they would have allowed Senator Chris Ngige to return to the senate. Well, the harm has been done already. Now to Lagos state! The Igbos have been embraced by Lagosians for ages and have succeeded in this great city and state. Now is not the time to make another political mistake because the way I see it, even if the Igbos vote Agbaje, Ambode will still emerge the winner of the election. Igbos should be wise! Don’t make the mistake your brothers back home made. The PDP is just using the Igbos and it would be unfortunate if they allow themselves to be used. Now to the issue of the Oba of Lagos threat to Igbos. One thing is certain, if you listen to that audio you would notice that the people were laughing and clapping when the Oba made that threat, and Igbo leaders were present at the meeting. The question people should ask is why would the Oba make a threat to “throw the Igbos in the Lagoon” and the same Igbo leaders would be clapping and laughing. The simple answer is the Oba was joking, and the Igbo leaders present there knew it. But the PDP in their desperation and Machiavellian trait saw an opportunity to deceive Igbos. If you look at the PDP you would realize that one thing that has sustained them in perpetuating evil against Nigerians in the past was their realization that Nigerians were very gullible. But thank God our eyes have opened. Igbos in Lagos should say no to this people by rejecting their candidate, Jimi Agbaje. No normal human being can say APC has not delivered in Lagos state. Vote the APC for continuity. If the APC could achieve what it has achieved in Lagos state and other of its state while being in the opposition at the centre, imagine what more they would achieve now that the APC is at the centre. Now is not the time to embrace failure. Vote APC, Vote Ambode. #Lagos4Ambode |
Their plans will fail. Ambode would still win and be declared winner. |
On the 11th of April 2015 history may be made in Benue state. The PDP may lose the state’s governorship elections to an opposition party for the first time since 1999. Since the return of democracy in 1999 Benue state has been under the control of the PDP but since the beginning of the “Broom revolution” which began in 2011 with the birth of ACN in Benue and the coming of Ugbah (I still remember “Ugbah Iyor’ Ishor Changi”), things have changed in the political atmosphere of Benue state. The then ACN was a major concern to the PDP in 2011 (ask Governor Suswam). Fast forward to 2015 and the concern has graduated to another level. The APC is not just a concern to the PDP in Benue state but a major threat to the survival of the party. This was made clear during the March 28th Presidential and National Assembly elections where the APC swept 8 out of the 11 house or Reps seats, with the present governor Gabriel Suswam losing his senatorial elections to the APC (although he said he was rigged. Funny!); the victory of the senate minority leader and possibly the next senate president, Senator George Akume was actually certain. Now to the governorship elections to be held tomorrow April 11th 2015, the APC is set to repeat its winning streak by winning the state’s governorship elections. The reasons are obvious: 1. The people of the state are tired of the PDP because the present government has failed them. Imagine a governor refusing to pay workers salary for 5 months! Imagine being governor for 8 years without having any meaningful project to show! 2. The candidate of the PDP, Prince Terhemen Tarzoor is not a sale-able brand (believe me when I tell you that no responsible man in Benue will vote Tarzoor because he is too childish). 3. The candidate of the APC which PDP lost to them, Samuel Ortom is not a paper-weight politician; he is actually loved by the people 4. The leader of the APC in Benue state, and senate minority leader, and possibly the next senate president, Senator George Akume is one man that Benue people love so much 5. The victory of the APC in the National Assembly elections in Benue North West (Akume’s zone) and Benue North East (Suswam’s zone) would affect the voting pattern during the governorship elections in favour of the APC. If Suswam had won his elections it would have been a different matter. 6. The PDP has always relied on the Benue South senatorial zone (David Mark’s zone) to win elections in the state, but results from the zone didn't look like the PDP still controls the zone. Although the PDP won all the House of Rep seats in the zone, but of interest is the fact that the “all powerful” senate president, David Mark won “little” Daniel Onjeh with a little over 40,000 votes (that is an indication that D. Mark is no longer in charge). 7. Zones A (Benue North East) and B (Benue North West) would naturally go with the opposition (the APC); with votes from zone C (Benue South) being divided, the APC will win the governorship. |
Happy birthday to my mentor and role model! |
maestroferddi:Wake up from your Sleep! APC will still win the governorship election in Lagos tomorrow. |
Nneka123:After reading your comment i went to check her profile and i ask the same question. |
