How can I tell if I am protected against hepatitis B? If someone has received the hepatitis B vaccine, then a simple blood test can tell whether they are protected If they have responded to the vaccine series, the blood test will show a positive result for the hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb+). It is recommended that all health care workers and household members or sexual partners of an infected individual have their antibody levels tested one month after completing the vaccine series.

How soon will I be protected once I start the vaccine series? After the 1st dose of HBV vaccine, there can be up to 50% protection. After the 2nd dose of HBV vaccine, there can be up to 80% protection. It is very important to receive the third shot to ensure 100%, long-term protection. If possible, ask your doctor to check your antibody level one month after completing the vaccine series.

How can I protect myself until the vaccine series is complete?
For those people who are in close household contact with or are sexual partners of infected individuals, it is important to use precautions
until the vaccination series is complete, and the antibody level blood test shows positive protection (HBsAb+). For example, it is important to not share toothbrushes, razors, or nail equipment. In addition, following safe sex practices is important since HBV can be transmitted sexually.

Does the vaccine work for everyone? Approximately 5% of people do not develop antibodies after the completion of the hepatitis B vaccine series. If a blood test is given four weeks following the completion of the series and the test shows no response to the vaccine, the general
recommendation is to complete the series again. A person is considered to be a "non- responder" if they have completed two full vaccination series without producing protective antibodies. A non-responder should ask their doctor for a blood test to rule out the possi-
bility that they are already infected with hepatitis B.

I am a blogger, yes there are so many of us out there, trying to make little pennies or big fortunes, yes they are many of us propagating false news just to get traffic, they are many of us who run into tech and entertainment website because it is easy to get posts, news, updates and is very simple, just common sense required...

But am little different, I say that because my blog is different. Google calls its Blogger as a chance for people to live their life on a blog, and thereby refers to a blog as something based on peoples ideas and not some crap made for money website.....

The slogan of my blog is Stay Healthy, Stay Wise and that is what I hope to achieve.... I have noticed that Africa is completely different from other continents when it comes to relating to health information... I mean you cant put up a post and say 10 ways to prevent or solve constipation and then you will see thousands of Nigerians flocking to it.... But if you put that up in the US expect so tens of thousands of views...

You see, Now am sharing this strategy for all health informatants to reach people... I have seen pitiful health sites and when I try to pass this message they just call me bragger and all sorts....

Here it is

Remember that Africa has a language and so does America (which is English) The Americans and Americas have a way of life and so does Africans.... Now here is what other health blogger in Nigeria are doing... They are using the American language to pass their information to Nigerians which will never work.... Imagine a post like this 4 Ways to Get Rid of Tonsillitis Now many Nigerians will only react to this if they know what Tonsillitis actually means or because they saw 4 ways to get rid of .... Since the attitude towards health information is not encouraging many will not even go there... because its not a promising post from the big grammar tonsillitis that is there...

So how do we relate in the African language? ... is it by speaking pidgin or what? Also this can help not only health bloggers but also tech bloggers and sorry if you are an entertainment blogger it is not for you

I recently took a survey and I noticed that Nigerians would love to comment on gossips blogs about other people's lives and not on tech information that can benefit them in their workplace or homes.

I am saying this because I know how hard it is to get comments on a tech blog given the fact that I run one (misstechy dot com), I have also searched top tech blogs in the country and noticed the same trend. Even noticed the trend on Nairaland, anytime a tech post is out on frontpage, people hardly comment or even view it.


Is it that the contents are boring or what?

Why would you choose to comment on other people's trouble but not on something that can benefit you in several ways -

Because Tech is boring, and stupid and not interesting... If you write a post and say 10 ways to track your girlfriend that you think is cheating.... then you will see thousands of comments... because that is interesting tech, it is something some people think is happening to them (cheating) and something some dont want to face, so do you know what, they will die for this information.... Remember that you cannot pass a message to someone if you don't say it in his language.. Lions roar at each other.. One does not roar and the other moo .... No! No!! No!!!..... Entertainment is the only thing which makes Nigerians comment because it is in their language and they are also encouraged to comment.....
