What does Ikwerre people talk of themselves?

The Ogbakor Ikwerre Convention, a cultural organization of Ikwerre people, in a paper presented to the Human Rights Violation Commission headed by Rtd. Justice Chukwudifu Oputa on 10 October 2001, said:“Ikwerre ethnic nationality is not and has never been a sub-group of any other tribe in Nigeria including Ndi-Igbo. There is no doubt that the advent of the British and later regionalization put Ndi-Igbo at the helm of affairs in Eastern Nigeria. This brought Ndi-Igbo into Ikwerre land. In course of time, the Igbo took advantage of their position in the then Eastern Regional Government to grab land in Ikwerre and occupy political positions such as the mayor of Port Harcourt. In the process, Ikwerre along with other minority groups were marginalized and driven to the background.”

People saying Ijaw land is part of Biafra know nothing about history, Go and read about Isaac Boro who declared Niger Delta Republic in 1966 a full year before Biafra Republic was declared by Ojukwu in 1967.
That said, as a true son of Niger Delta, I can categoritically state that we are behind Buhari lead govt and we believe in Nigeria. Because we believe 2 wrongs don't make a right and with war there are no winners, we choose to channel our grievances the right way, and be patient with our leaders.
Arise O, compatriots Nigeria's call obey, let us unite in the face of challenges, let us fight peacefully for our motherland, let us show the world that the most populous black nation and the biggest economy in Africa can get it right.

1.Am not against the Igbos agitating for Biafra but the truth remains that He cannot force Biafra on us, he can't.
2. Even if our leaders agree and the igbos are asked to vote, you will be surprise, majority will not want to go. Go to where? They're more igbos outside than in the east. Again, part of Benue, kogi, Niger Delta etc they think will join them will not.

From an economic perspective, secession makes no sense. That is the main reason no responsible, educated person will form a secessionist party to go and make fools of themselves in Abuja. Why should Igbos, an entrepreneural people with access to a ready market of 200 million people, retreat from that into their little kingdom, abandoning billions of dollars in investments all over Nigeria? It makes no sense.. That's why you only see these thugs and jobless youths supporting the movement.
