jumeks: Hello Sir,Yes it is a plot of land measuring 21 x 28m. |
Arepo Luxury Block of flats - UPDATE Well, it has been some weeks since my last update on this thread, but that does not mean that the project has been stagnant. In fact, just the opposite has been true! The past few weeks has seen has seen the largest workforce and the most activities on the site since construction began 7 months ago. We are still on track for a mid 2012 completion date. The biggest visible progress has been primarily in two categories: 1. Block setting to lintel on the ground floor. At this point, we have completed about 75% of this stage! It is estimated that within 3 days we should have this stage completed. Check out some pictures in the pic update. 2. Internal partitions. The inside of the building is now partitioned. Now, we can now walk the building and see where all the rooms will be. What’s next? Next up for our construction project will be the casting of the beam/pillars and columns. The iron bender and the carpenter are already warming up for this stage. Tmrw, the plumber will be installing the rough-in plumbing pipes. Beside, preparations for the first floor slab (decking) is ongoing. Pic updates to follow soon. |

spyder880:I cannot stop wondering why some people are so difficult. I only lived in the house for 3 years and painted the house when I got in. The man seriously meant business o. Here's a pic of my living room as at last xmas. I thank God I'm a free man now.

bugmenot:I just did. So, no more IF's. I pray God will see us all through (Am Alone, Spyder, Cinzo, Roben, Vitodorado, Omobashua, Diordavies, Caseymoney, steo, prince_onx, olubuffet, atasteve and many others that I forgot to mention here, especially the silent readers, the clients who will not allow us to showcase their project and the inspired ones planning to take the bold step). I'm so happy we are all making progress. Anytime I drive past Cinzo's crib, I always see Nairaland trademark on his building. Oga Spyder - na so o. After I left my house, my landlord asked me to come and paint his house. Imagine! |
Well done, Brother! You've really done well for yourself. If you're like me, I'll be sleeping in the house immediately after roofing |
Arepo Luxury Flats - Streetscape/Drainage Construction Ongoing A good neighbourhood can foster a feeling of wellbeing not only for the residents who benefit from the help they receive, but also for the contractors who gain a sense of purpose and a way of giving something back to the community. To improve community appearance, our friendly neighbour is trying to update what is known as streetscape (covering over 200m), which pertains to the area between the main road and the edge of each plot within the coverage area. This will unite the block faces in some way and soften the view which will be created by the street and the sidewalks. I love this neighbourhood. Not so many people can do this - make life easier for your neighbours. _________________________________________ @atasteve, anything can happen when the cash is flowing. Update from the site 11/02/2012 - Borehole sunk (38.6m depth)

Nice One! Keep it up |
Arepo Luxury Flats - The Transformed Neighbourhood If there is anything special about THIS neighborhood, it is that there is a beautiful orchard and all the residents are good neighbors. Far removed from any heavy traffic flows, this neighborhood is also a place of peace and quietness. Above all, it adds value. All buildings in the picture below were built within the last 4 - 5 months and they're structurally sound. _____________________ A Worthwhile Wait The neighbourhood is completely built up. Now we can alter our design to create a balance between monotony and repetition of similar design elements in the community. People really prefer some compatibility of architectural styles with little or no regards to building type. Now, we know our neighbours - their building style and type and we are going to work with a certain degree of tolerance. It's very pleasant to stroll down a block of houses with similar setbacks from the street.

Hi everybody, It’s been a while since I last post on this thread and there have been anxious queries - its all for good reasons though. I've been a lot busy this days and never had the chance to go back and update things you were looking at a few months, or in this case, almost a year ago. I haven’t been checking the stats for hits to this thread lately so I don’t know if I still have any faithful who are looking in periodically for anything new. If there are, thank you and I promise some new topics over the coming days. So this is what is new, ___________________________________________________________ Brabus Aquaponic Project - a backyard fish and vegetable farm I do not want to buy vegetables again. Neither do I plan to visit the fish market anymore. Instead, I'm planning to set up a structure in my backyard that breed fish while recycling their water to grow my vegetables. It's called aquaponics – the combination of aquaculture (breeding fish in captivity as a food source) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil). Now, you know why I'm busy. Be on the look out for more update on a new thread __________________________________________________________ Arepo Luxury Flat - Project to resume shortly. Right now, we are getting the materials but before the project resumes. There are interesting pictures I'd like to show on this thread - The Transformed Neighbourhood

Two 13 x 16ft room side by side would us 600+ blocks. Doors and windows already taken into consideration. So, be sure of what you are going into before you start the project. |
@Elsafema, N800k seems too much for bricklaying job. Find out if the price includes plastering and fencing of the house. As for materials, its a hard thing to do without adequate knowledge of the site. There are 3 bedroom you can build with N1m and there are 3 bedroom you can build with N5m - it depends on the quality of the construction. |
Thread closed. I've decided to convert the server for personal use. Many thanks to all who contacted me for the server. |

@Am_Alone, Well Done! Your timely attention to your builder's concerns and details during the construction phase is reflective in the quality of the completed work. I'm in full support of the point raised. Ara l'amo, a o mo inu |

@Favour, you really need to attend class more often. A very good advice is that you should give yourself some time to have full grasp of this trade. Pls don't try the daily pay route - negotiate a contract, get your rep to sign it on your behalf, make provision for contingencies and pray as well. You might end up doing a 3-day job for 3 weeks if it is daily pay. You get the idea. Just my thought! |
^^^ Be careful! I really wish many people who've gone through this would speak up. You need a trustworthy builder and someone to oversee the project. That person will be your eye in the project while the builder reports to him and not you, otherwise he's irrelevant. |
Please, PRAY for Nigeria. |
