@Nezed:The two girls in the wedding pics with the new bride are his daughters, one was on the bridal train and the other was the bride's chief bridesmaid.

Great! If they support their Poppa's remarrying then Ya'all should just wish him well! Its not like all these whinnings would change a fin though.

I already pointed that out.

AjanleKoko:

Na wa o.
I fly Arik all the time.
Flew Arik in August to the UK and back, and they were very professional, though there were a lot of process gaps. All told, the flight was quite comfortable.
Flew them a couple of times to Ghana in November/December, also not bad.
Haven't flown them this year though. I decided I wouldn't fly them to the UK again, cos they're kind of expensive, and they don't have a frequent flyer program yet. I must get something for giving them my miles, abi?

You can use VirginNigeria/Virgin Atlantic and become an Eagleflier member! Am one, though am yet to understand how the mileage count works.
Celebrities / Re: If I Catch My Husband Cheating — Ini Edo by Nezed(f): 12:29pm On Jan 20, 2010
Ini Edo, Love her or Hate her, one thing that she brings on is Naturality and her Carefree-Happy-Jolly-Lifestyle! You cant take that away from her.
Beautiful and a Great actress as well.
I can prolly picture Ini as a stubborn J.ss 2 boarding school student! Gosh!

How many celebrities today would agree that they saw some hard times growing up? Or that things where kinda difficult for them or their families? Most often, these Naija Celebs claim where born and brought up in the UK and USA.

BUT,
Did she REALLY mean this:

I was size eight before I got to where I am now…I used to be size 10. Now I am targeting size 6.?

Genevieve seems to be inspiring a lot of them these days*** And its a good thing, BTW!

Celebrities / Re: Joseph Yobo And Adaeze Igwe Speak On Their Love by Nezed(f): 11:36am On Jan 20, 2010
Is it Me or does their Love story sound Childish and a Lil tweeny stupid? Its not about player Hating, its about comments like this:

Adaeze Igwe “When we first met, he kept staring at me that I almost thought there was something wrong with my outfit. Apart from that I can not really explain how it happened because we were both at how fast everything has happened.
That sounded REAL stupid! For every rush in, there is a rush out!

Joseph Yobo “I think it was love at first sight. After we met, we became friends and later we found out we had something special and strong for each other. It was not one of those frivolous affairs. We knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. I believe I fell in love first and made the first move. [s]But maybe she had fallen first and only just pretended not to be. But later she confessed[/s].

Earlier Yobo said it was love at first sight(Which he believes in) then later concluded by saying, 'Maybe she had fallen first and only just pretended not to be. But later she confessed'.

Now, that made me LOL!

Travel / Re: Arik Air - Passenger Reviews! by Nezed(f): 4:23pm On Jan 14, 2010
lanre2u:

I know Arik has good and new aircrafts, but i hate their customer relation especially their ticketing and reservation services. Arik is also known for flight delay, 6:20pm flight leaving lagos at 8:30pm.

I can't count the number of times they have being on this flight delay, due to operational reason, due to bad weather when others are flying same route.

Bad inflight service, bread and juice!

I have promise my self not to fly Arik again, Tufiakwa.

Those people are on deminishing return curve.

Lol at bolded. So which airline is onboard now? My fave back in the days were Aero and Virgin Atlantic. Any new ones now? Yeah, i remember Dana! HATED THEIR FLIGHT CREW UNIFORM, Lol.
Virgin's uniform was kinda cute, cant remember what Arik looked like again.
Travel / Re: Arik Air - Passenger Reviews! by Nezed(f): 2:57pm On Jan 14, 2010
I beg to differ a little fom the glowy comments please.

I flew Arik air sometime ago from lagos-Jos-lagos as they were the only flight then(2008) flying to Jos, and i not only hated that flight, i wished i could speak to their management!

The flight attendants were courteous and okay in their services, but the flight was bumpy, the aircraft old and a lil' dirty(prolly because of those who had flown earlier in it;sweets wraps were littered on the aisle and underneath the seats) and the landing was so jerky. It was so scary.

Funny enough the pilot or whomever it was his/her duty to use the microphone and calm nerves was on vacation that day! NO WORD was said, ONLY 'Welcome to Jos bla bla bla.

Prolly the Company may have upgraded, but i hope they have new planes now?

Even on her Buffday? Dont they have some kind of call boothes or sumfin like that in Nigeria?
How much does it cost that he cant call her regularly, even if its every other day to say 'Hi baby'?
If he cant call her at 4months into the relationship, when will he?
Btw, i served in Nigeria too and i know Corpers can afford to call their Girlfriends/Boyfriends everyday even if its for a MINUITE or couple of seconds!

Peaceworld:

Nezed, it's a pity Nigeria is looking up to just one author. That shows our literacy level, don't you think? Shade

I dont see what's wrong with Nigerians looking up to an author even if its only one!
Whats important is the values being picked up and how it fashions our lives and society.
Who would you rather we look up to? Our politicians?

Secondly, what is it with our literacy level? We may not be there yet, but we shall get there.

@internetpo,
I had a good laff with your comments on my points! grin grin

1. Fine, you wanted to expand concept and explore imagery, right? Good, i didnt say you shouldnt have done that, i said the sub categorizing didnt work and i guess other reviewers said same.

2. All 31 students are main characters in your novel? Boy, am so in awe of your concept (Thats not a compliment BTW). You will be the first authour with that much character. Even the harry potter's series didnt have that much.

3. You failed to make me wonder where all these was going. I was simply not drawn to read further and struggled to read it all.

4. I will try to read all four, but definitely not today.

Finally, all these are not to pull you down, just to help each other be better in doing what we enjoy doing----writing!
Ciao.

Literature / Re: What Do U Think Of Writer Chimamanda Adichie by Nezed(f): 11:13am On Nov 07, 2009
Chimamanda is GOOD! Probably most of you prefer the likes of Grisham, Sheldon, Ludlum, Higgins, Steel, etc (i inclusive) and that is not because Chimamanda aint good, rather is because you prefer other authors writing style.

Her books aint the suspense filled type or new information divulging books.

Chimamnda writes in simple english, stories of day to day existence which most of us are familiar with because we are born in Nigeria/live in Nigeria and tend to under rate which i think of course is wrong. She basically have found out what style she is comfortable with and flows. Simple.

Secondly, she is NOT OVER RATED!
That girl is singularly doing what (what is nigeria's population now?) can not do! She is opening frontiers and rebranding Nigeria and Africa via literature. Wherever she goes, be it on media, talk in schools, interviews, etc, she has NEVER missed to talk about Nigeria or Africa! Her dressing even signifies her african heritage which she is so proud of.
Not only does she write well, she SPEAKS WELL! No accent, just crisp, clear english.

I stay in the UK and i remember looking for her book-Half of a yellow sun at a book store in Aberdeen last year december and was told to order for it as it was been rushed! Her purple Hirsbiscus was just one left in that BIG book store. I was so proud of her that day.
she has a huge fan base and been appreciated it US and Europe as she simply tells the African story with humour.

AT TIMES, I WONDER HOW SHE GOT TO BE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT A COUNTRY I WAS HAPPY TO LEAVE SOME YEARS BACK. and i feel so ashamed of myself.

So, poster, chiamanda is good, my only fear is that she may soon been colonized by the western world and made a professer/ OR given a chair in their uNIVERSITY. They have taken Achebe after all.

Celebrities / Re: People: Do U Think Rihanna Did The Right Thing For Going back To Chris Brown ? by Nezed(f): 9:25am On Nov 06, 2009
My dear RiRi,

How could you have done that? You got this one bad and such an action is one that i would have expected from the likes of lily-livered Britany Spears, Nicole Richie, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan, etc.

But a strong woman like you who's 'gonna run this town tonight' turn wishy washy, I bleed.

Please rescind your decision as i hate to see you bruised again.

With Love.
