Celebrities / Re: Arnold Schwarzeneger's Body by Nezed(f): 11:32am On Oct 28, 2009 |
I hate to burst the bubble people, but that is Arnold for real. Saw that particular picture on E!. He made the list of 'not so hot' when they where reviewing stars/celebrities that used to be hot and are not so hot now. Arnold was on the list of 'the not so hot' and that picture was there with him and his family at the beach. Am sorry fans, but he is a Guvernor now and no longer and ACTOR! Spare him the celebrity standard. I still prefer him to OBJ and his likes. |

Literature / Re: Need Endorsement For My Next Book, Pls(here's The First 2 Chapters). by Nezed(f): 11:56am On Oct 24, 2009 |
Goo job. I love books with humour an i like the way you describe your characters. I will however like to say something about your opening lines, as i couldnt read it longer than the first ten lines. You kind of repeated your words that it became uninteresting to read. WTF is this?: A guinea fowl crowed in the distance, waking the sun up from his slumber. He rose languidly from his bed in the horizon, exploding a brilliant sunshine and greeting everything in the Savanna Good Morning! As his golden drops caressed them, giving life to the Living things and Death to the dead things: giving life to the day animals and plants and bidding the nocturnals good night. He cajoled the night to sleep, for the Day’s turn in watching the world in watching the deeds of men, animals and plants, even the deed of the dead as he took his seat comfortably in the sky After categorizing dead and live things, you still categorized animals and plants, then the sun bidding nocturnal things goodnight? Dnt plant and animal and nocturnals all living? why sub-categorize again? 2. I dont know why you would inject so many names in the beginning of a book as you make your reader struggle to remember each of them and their description as they read on. introduce characters, one by one as you write after ensuring that you have enshrined the previous ones in the mind of your reader. 3. Except all those students have a specific story in your novel, they are way TOO MUCH! The less the characters the better or you and the more you can create powerful personalities with your characters than scattering different personalities in different characters! (You may have to re-read this statement to understand). 4. You leave nothing to the imagination! Everything is just put out and described. Enchant your readers my dear. 5. Invest in a good beginning. If you lose your readers there, you have lost them totally! All the same, good prospect. |
Politics / Re: Electricity Problems At Nigerian Airport by Nezed(f): 2:32pm On Oct 22, 2009 |
Its not a new thing. I encountered the same experience when i was coming into the country last July at around 5.20am. The whole airport was DARK and my landing experience was something i dont even wish an enemy! Ask people who fly into the country early in the morning and they will tell you it is a normal experience. |
Literature / Re: Young Curious Writter. by Nezed(f): 10:04am On Oct 22, 2009 |
O lawd, i had a good laugh with your novel and as Myne white said, you injected humour. Very commendable. Also i liked the simplicity of your language. That said, 1. The sentences are a bit disjointed and there where lots of grammatical error. 2. Your novel did not have suspense or any new dimension. It was too descriptive and detailed. You wrote what most people already know about chidbirth and naming ceremony and at some point, i felt itwas a nigerian movie you watched and was telling.( he saif my W-I-F-E, unaee, shouted chineke,) I laugh die for there. 3. Your book had different time settings. At first it was a rural eastern part of Nigeria, then it was a civilised community and they were doing a naming ceremony with so much pomp. 4. Your characters were changing. If pa Agidi was a fearless hunter and so fierce and respected, then i dont see why you should depict him again as a sentimental man with so much emotions. (Though it could work if you know how to go around it). You are a teenager? wow, i didnt see that part earlier, and you have started early. I guess you will make a great writer. Thumbs up. Keep the humour in your book, makes it lively. BTW, you could target an age group. Books like yours would be enjoyed by teenagers and youngsters as well. Think about it. |
Literature / Re: The Prologue To My Novel: Please Drop Your Opinion by Nezed(f): 9:34am On Oct 22, 2009 |
Nice work, but permit me to be critical. 1. The beginning of your novel was not gripping enough as I had to steel myself to read it to finish. Always invest energy at beginning of your novel as that will make your reader want to read it to finish. How many times have you picked a novel and dumped it halfway only to pick it up when you are bored and have nothing to fill your past time? E.g, Philip dashed out of the the office in quick strides and swung himself into his big white mercedes car revving the engine to life and sped off! A crime was about to be committed and he will be damned if he allowed his past to resurface again after living the last eleven years by a haunted conscience. Why had he not taken notice of the timing? 11.30pm everyday the calls had always come through on his private mobile and the caller always kept mute whenever he picked. 11.30pm everyday for two weeks! He was about to make a right turn to Lagunda avenue when he saw the flashing neon lights of the police in his trail flashing him to slow down. 'Not now, philip cursed under his breath as he slowed down and he saw the female police officer coming towards his car window. 'licensce please? she asked looking sternly at him. 'Ma'm, am in a haste and i really have to go, philip replied flashing her his best dazzling smile which had always melted the fragile heart of his female friends. 'do you want to show me your licensce now or will you prefer to do that at the station? the curvaceous officer inquired less aggressive than before as she began peering closely at him. Then it hit philip immediately. ' Grace Thompson! Government scince Ibadan, right? philip screamed at the officer. 'Philip, em, Philip Odukoya! what a small world, Look at you so grown up now, she responded so elated. They had ended up having a cup of ice cream and gala while reliving old times that Philip forgot that he was about going to save the world and Grace forgot that she was about apprehending a traffic violator earlier that afternoon. 2. The names where too much at the beginning: Chinedu, amaka, obinna, ikenna, uzoma, ifeoma, dr. akachi, oji, etc. U make ur reader keep going back to know who is who and what. 3.Best advice? Always start your story with an action! Eg Chimamanda's purple Hirsbiscus: 'Papa swung his big leather missal, (cant remember the brothers name again). That first sentence was strong. All in all, your novel is good and promising, hoping to see your books at bookstores someday. Cheers. |

1. I think there fashion sense is just bold, dats all! Fashion Faux pas(s) are man-made and i dont think one being can just wake up and give everybody a standard fashion acceptability. 2.Methink Posh Becham needs to upgrade her dressing oh! All these her Under sixteen(16) dresses doesnt reflect maturity, abeg. She reminds me of Naija's Funmi Adams. 3. Pls, is Rihanna not a Tom-boy? She has some odd Boyish tendencies and most pixs of her are usually noy feminine! |

Basically depends on your facial bone. Simple! I have been wearing a low cut wit curls for over three years and i noticed it suited my face cos i have an oval shaped face. It may please you to know that all those pix Mohawkchick posted all have the same/similar Bone structure. I personally dont recommend low cut for chubby or round-faced ladies! Goes well if you've got height as well! |

Jeez! Is she still hosting that show? I had to scroll back up to see the date this topic was posted and to my chargain it was this year! 1. That show was/is sooooooo FAKE! 2. Why cant she smile naturally and be FREE and spontaneous like Oprah or Ellen? I THINK SHE IS SHALLOW in depth and has lilttle Grasp of contemporary issues- Except she has upgraded, but from the comments here, she is still doing her bad JOB well. Imao! Even those Kiddies programs where more enlightening and entertaining than hers! Advice 4 her? She should read more widely and grasp whats happening around the world. |

U mean low sperm count? Well, i guess u should take to seeking out ladies who are not so much into having their own kids( though that might be difficult in Africa) and the both of you can legally adopt kids. If not, then seeking a widow with children might be your best option! (make sure you tell her about the low sperm count, in case she is nursing ideas for more kids). Please fellow NLanders, his reasons are Cogent enough. Let the contact Numbers/e-mail addy begin to ROLL OUT! Good luck. |

Romance / Re: U A Snooper? by Nezed(f): 10:42am On Sep 16, 2009 |
There are different angles to being a 'SNOOPER'. 1. My younger brother is a NATURAL snooper. He is barely 18yrs and he just likes to go through your stuffs. From your hair cream to your clothes(wants to know the label), to checking your pictures, your books, wallet(He takes joy in counting your money, he doesnt remove a pin) etc. He just loves been 'in the know of what is going on around you'. So, we've left him be because, despite the raking and shouting, he cant help it. He is naturally curious, and guess wat? He decided on Journalism for a career! That would be great advantage huh?. That is harmless right? What then happens when he goes into a relationship; though his snooping is not negative? 2. There are the negative BF/GF snoopers that want to check for information: Here the trust issues come into play. They go through your phone records, your wallet, want to know all your friends aand when you met them, etc. 3. There are also the snooping neighbours, friends (am having that problem now. My neighbour cum friend has taken to the habit of going through my fridge! Opens all the food cans to know what dish i have inside. As soon as i step into the kitchen, she slams the fridge shut!) who peep through the window to see who is dropping you off, to know who you are seeing, see what you are wearing, infact they just make your biz theirs. All in all, i think snooping may not be totally evil (it can even be called 'curiousity'). The issue should lie on the INTENT of the snooper! But basically, people in a relationship who snoop through their mate's personals have low esteem/confidence! Aint that kinda low class? |
