It was in the late 30's that Ijebu monarchs started attending yoruba meetings and even at that they attended it as observers. Ijebus being Yoruba today is just political and that started during the Awoic era.
Ijebu is Ijebu and Yoruba is Yoruba.

Igbos discriminate a lot and even if these people accept to be Igbos, the general Igbo population is likely to see them as half-Igbos.
These people choose to be who they are, not just because of discrimination from other ethnic groups, but also discrimination from the people they speak the same language with(Igbos).
