LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY THURSDAY, 28/09/2017 #TOPIC: THE NAME OF JESUS! (1) #TEXT:Philippians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; #MESSAGE: In ancient Hebrew culture, names carried great significance. They might refer to individuals personality, relate to an event sorrounding a person's birth, or indicate a way that God would use the child's life. A name conveyed the very character and nature of a person. 1 Sam. 25:25 (KJV) Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: Names were important in the Bible, many names were changed to indicate something significant. # The name of Jesus is the most significant and most important name in heaven, in earth and under the earth. As the Son of God, Jesus was the most exalted person to ever walk the earth, therefore, His name is above every other names. # Beloved, do you truly know that His name goes beyond means of identity like every other names? His name get things done in heaven, in earth and under the earth. (John 14:13-14) (Matt. 28:18) His name is a key that locks and unlocks, it carries power and it's powerful. His name goes with authority followed by angels anywhere it is used. (Rev. 19:12-14) His name is a special, stainless and a saving name. (Matt. 1:21) # Friends, there is such tremendous power in His name that it can enable those who invoke His name in faith to accomplish even miracles. His name is the key to answered prayers. # Beloved, you may not have anything but when you know and understand the mystery of His name, you have everything. Why don't you invoke His name today ! #PRAYER: Father, thank You the tremendous power associated with the name of Your Son. Today, as I invoke His name in faith, let the name of Jesus speak for me and release me from every shackles of life in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTRE #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! TUESDAY, 26/09/2017 #TOPIC: FAILING FORWARD #TEXT Proverbs 24:16 (BBE) For an upright man, after falling seven times, will get up again: but trouble is the downfall of the evil. Micah 7:8 (NRSV) Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me. #MESSAGE: Failure is not your name, it is just an event. Because you have failed before does not mean you can succeed again. God can still use you again, decorate you even better than before. The God of the Bible is the God of the second chance, a God who prefers to mend rather than discard. # Here is the message for you this morning; Stop holding on to your failures, you are not the first to fail God and humanity. Your failure doesn't determine your future, your heart does! # Dear friend, do you know you can fail well? There is such a thing as “failing forward” by learning from what you have done wrong, repenting, and laying hold of God’s forgiveness. We can drown in guilt or we can swim back to shore helped by the incoming tide of God’s grace, that's a choice. For example, Elijah emerged from his failure a new man with a new mission (1 Kings 19:15-16). Peter was strengthened after his failure and set to work again by Christ (Luke 22:31-32). Our failures thankfully, do not tie God’s hands. God is a potter who works with mud and is able to take that which is marred and remake it into a thing of beauty (Jer. 18:1-6). # Friends, failure is not final. Learn from what you have done wrong, repent and lay hold of God's forgiveness. Be wise just like the prodigal son in LK 15: 18:22, who realised his failure and took a step to approach the father, his failure was forgiven and he was restored, and he became useful again. Failure is not your name, is an event! #PRAYER Father, thank You for the love You have for me. Thank you for you are a God that mends and not discards. Thank You for giving me a second chance. I ask this morning that you restore me in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! MONDAY, 25/09/2017 #TOPIC: YOU ARE SPECIAL! (2) #TEXT: Genesis 1:31a (NRSV) God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. Isaiah 43:7 (KJV) Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. #MESSAGE: Beloved, God never asks us to compare ourselves with any other person. In fact, it is a slap in God’s face to look at someone else and say, “I wish I were more like her/him.” Why? Because God tenderly designed you just way He wanted you to be. He made you for Himself. He made you in a way that can never be duplicated. # So when you begin to compare yourself with another person, you are saying, “God, you made me a mistake. You failed. You could have done a better job creating me. Hear me, none of us has the privilege of criticizing God. He is Creator who looks at each of His created beings and says to Himself, “It is good. # The fact is, everyone is attractive in one way or another. There's a twofold tragedy related to developing your own sense of beauty: First, you compare yourself to others; and then, you allow others to define what is attractive. It is dangerous to give so much power to another person that their opinion determines your self-esteem. No no no, don't do that at all! # Beloved lifer and friends, I want you to get to a point where you hold a high opinion of yourself based on the fact that God made you exactly, precisely, intricately, wondrously, and uniquely the way you are. You are a one-of-a-kind creation for which there is no comparison. Hallelujah! # God made you for His own purpose so that you might reflect a unique aspect of His glory. When cease to compare yourself with others and refuse to be intimidated by what other people think and say, you are then in the position to command maximum influence, to birth that business, that ministry, that effort to change your community that God intended. How dare you compare yourself with someone else, God wanted you to be you. Nobody else, but you. YOU ARE SPECIAL! #PRAYER Father, thank You for how you made me. I am satisfied with everything, my height, my nose, my eyeballs, my complexion, in fact, my entire body. I received grace this morning never to compare myself with anybody, never to wish to be like so and so in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! SATURDAY, 23/09/2017 #TOPIC: YOU ARE SPECIAL! #TEXT: Psalms 139:13-14 (NRSV) 13 For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. Isaiah 43:7 (KJV) Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. #MESSAGE: Beloved, The scripture says you are specially and uniquely created. Just believe it and stop looking down on yourself. “You are uniquely special" Even though you share many things in common with other people, you are essentially one of a kind. No one else has been given exactly the same makeup as God has given you. Your face, your fingerprints, your voice, and your genetic makeup are matched by no one else’s. Likewise, God has handcrafted you with your personality, your unique set of talents and motivations, and of course, you have a unique purpose in life. # Friends, You need to have confidence in your own self. Webster describes confidence as "faith in oneself and one's powers without any suggestion of conceit or arrogance." # Listen, I meet so many people who have low self-esteem and little, if any, confidence in their own selves just because they are brief in height, and some will begin to say "how I wish I am a little taller". Today , some of our preachers are not even left out, they want to look like Pastor this and pastor that so they begin to bleach their skin and do all sort of things because they have low self esteem with their own complexion. If God created you as a "black" man just like me, that makes you unique, remember; God never make mistake. So be satisfied with your beauty, your height, your complexion, your hips and buttocks, infact, you don't need that plastic surgery. Stop altering your body! # Friends, I like you to say it after me " I am uniquely created, God designed me the way He wanted, He made me fearfully and wonderfully, I am unique me". #PRAYER Father, thank You for how you fashioned me. I am grateful for how you made me uniquely special. I received grace this morning never to compare myself with anyone in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! FRIDAY, 22/09/2017 #TOPIC: HE IS ABLE! #TEXT Ephesians 3:20 (JUB) Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 2 Chronicles 25:9 (AKJV) ............And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give much more than this. #MESSAGE # Abraham was entertaining three persons who appeared to him (God appearing in human form) and they gave him the promise of having a son. Abraham and Sarah were advanced in age and way past child bearing age. Definitely by her age, she had already gone pass menopause. So It was impossible for them to have a child in the natural. Sarah heard the promise from her tent door and laughed. And the Lord said, “Is anything too difficult for the LORD” (Genesis 18:14)? # Is there something you feel God has promised you that seems impossible? God’s question for you today is the same question He asked Abraham, “Is anything too difficult for the LORD” (Genesis 18:14)? Friends, if He promised Sarah and fulfilled it, then your own is happening soonest. Genesis 21:1-2 (ASV) And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did unto Sarah as he had spoken. And Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. # In the midst of all his trouble, trials and testings, Job said, “I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You” (Job 42:2). Beloved, what are you presently going through? What trial or time of testing are you facing? Do you believe God can do anything, and that nothing can thwart His purposes from being fulfilled? Hold on to Him. # Hear this, It’s one thing to believe in God’s ability when all is well, but quite another when, like Job, you’ve lost everything and your world is falling apart. Friends, you 've got to believe again like Job this morning that "God is Able". Because Job believed in the ability of God, he said " I will wait". In other words, I will not consider alternatives. Hear him, Job 14:14 (JUB) ...........All the days of my appointed time I will wait until my transformation comes. # Jeremiah looked at the creation of the universe, and wrote, “Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You” (Jeremiah 32:17). # Beloved, God is omnipotent and is able to do anything. No matter what you are going through or facing today, our God is able! It may seem impossible in the natural, but let me assure you on the authority of God’s Word, He is able. All you need to do is to respond to His word and promises with Faith just like Mary did. # Listen beloved, If He did my own, He can also do your own. Hang on! #PRAYER Heavenly Father, I have come to say thank You for all your promises in my life, I know you are more than ABLE to bring them to pass. Lord, give me grace to hold on and keep believing in your ability no matter what comes my way until my desires come in Jesus mighty name. AMEN! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTRE #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! WEDNESDAY, 20/09/2017 #TOPIC: THINKING WELL. ( 2) #TEXT: Acts 6:1-3, 5, 7 (KJV) 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. #MESSAGE: The first church forged ahead inspite of satan’s subtle scheme of murmuring among women that seriously threatened the further existence of the young vibrant church, because the Apostles think and reasoned out the solution, they made progress. # Listen, going ahead is always what results whenever the head goes to work. # Beloved lifers and friends, as you go out today, keep thinking, keep reasoning, engage new strategies, work out your plans and execute what you have thought out! # Put your head to work and stop blaming people around you , it's never their fault, it's because you refuse to "Think Well" #NOTE; To think well and usefully a man must be endowed with certain indispensable qualifications. He must, for one thing, be completely honest and transparently sincere. Are you? #PRAYER Father, help me to think right always in Jesus majestic name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTRE DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! TUESDAY, 19/09/2017 #TOPIC: THINKING WELL! #TEXT: Luke 15:17-21 (KJV) 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, 19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. #MESSAGE: # Friends, you are welcome to today's devotional! Do you know that you can't get the best out of life beyond your level of thinking? When you think well, you will live well. Thinking well is as important as your life! Those who think well cannot be trapped. # Your level of result/progress in life can only be determined by your level of good thinking/reasoning. # Beloved, hear this; A system that lacks reasoning leader(s) will certainly rust just as a body that has no head. As a matter of fact, Jesus understood how this works, he would always think ahead of His disciples. John 6:6 (KJV) And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. # Beloved, are you a leader of an establishment that is not doing well, it is because you can think out of the box. Deep thinking will bring you, your business, your church, your unit, your family, your community and things you are in charge, out of obscurity into limelight! # In practical terms, to be headless is to be lifeless. Without head there cannot be an headway. Engage your head! The prodigal son made a headway only when he put his head to work. (Luke 15:17-20) # Dear friends, it is time you stop complaining, and start thinking. If you can't think well, you will start to stink! #PRAYER Heavenly father, thank you for the mind of Christ you have given me, I receive grace to put my mind to work today, reason my way out, and come out of every challenges In Jesus Mighty Name! |

LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! THURSDAY, 14/09/2017 #TOPIC: YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES! #TEXT: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (AMPC)“Every Scripture is God-breathed…so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: #MESSAGE: Beloved, welcome to today's devotional. In 2 Peter 1:3, we discovered that God has equipped us with everything we need to fulfill our destiny through His Word. He has given us all things that pertains to life through His word/knowledge. In other words, you can't be equipped beyond the level of His word you have accessed and digested. Hear this scripture; 1 John 2:14 (KJV) I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. # Friends, what is the level/size/amount of His Word that you eat daily? It is the Word of God that equips you, prepares you and of course, makes you fit. The only way God equips us is through His Words. In our first text today, "The man of God" refers to you and I, who are believers. Let's check that same scripture in another version and have better understanding. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NET) 16 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work. Take note of Verse 17, "that the person dedicated to God" # Beloved, what else do we need? He has has given us everything that pertains to life through His word. So now you have what it takes to succeed, you have what it takes to fulfill destiny, you what it takes to get married and enjoy your marriage, and to live a victorious life above satan. # His Word is the power that gives you courage, strength and ability. When you put the Word of God in you, you are receiving that anointing, you are building your faith, and you are being equipped for every good work. # Beloved, the next time you start to wonder if you have what it takes, go to God's Word and stir up your faith. Focus on His truth which says that you are well able to do what He has called you to do. You can accomplish your goals. You have the ideas, the creativity and talent to be successful. You can overcome every obstacle! You have been armed with strength for every battle, and the forces that are with you are greater than the forces that are against you. Whaooo! # Dear friend, today, don't settle where you are. Don't settle for a weak, defeated mentality. Instead, have the attitude that “I have His Word, I have been equipped" I can accomplish my dreams. I can overcome any obstacle. I am equipped and empowered by the Creator of the universe! I am able to live the abundant life God has in store for me. Because I have what it takes, I have His Word! Hallelujah!!! #PRAYER: Father, thank You for your sure Word. Thank You for equipping and empowering me with Your Word. Help me stay focused on Your Word and Your plan for me today and always in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! WEDNESDAY, 13/09/2017 #TOPIC: STAYING FOCUSED! #TEXT: Matthew 14:24-32 (NET) 24 Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it. 25 As the night was ending, Jesus came to them walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the water they were terrified and said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them: “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to him, “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.” 29 So he said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they went up into the boat, the wind ceased. #MESSAGE: We are living in a day and time where there is so much going on in the world that we are losing focus. There is all manner of "wind" going on in the world. So much is going on in our environment, and even in the church, where material things are now the focus, that we are losing focus of the principal thing: and that is Jesus. # Friends, Hear me this morning, when things are going good for you; your focus has to be Jesus. And also when things seems to be going rough, when trials and tribulations come into your life you’ve got to stay focused on Jesus. Sometimes when problems come our way like Peter, we tend to take our focus off Jesus. We take our focus off Jesus and put it on our heartache. We take our focus off Jesus and put it on our pain. We take our focus off Jesus and put it on our suffering. And all through this we say we know that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. We say that we know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and but again, your focus is not on Him. # Beloved, irrespective of what you are facing or what is coming against you, your focus has to be on Jesus for your survival. Many times, we think focusing on the situations can solve them, but the answer is NO! The truth is once you take your focus off Jesus, things get worst and become complicated! # Because we take our focus off Jesus: our problems seem too big, our heartaches seem to heavy, our pain seems like its to much to bare, suffering seems like its to much to withstand. Somebody reading this devotional this morning may feel there is nothing they can do. Somebody may feel that there is no way out of their situation; and so now they are ready to check out of here ---Now they are ready to commit suicide; because they feel all hope is gone. But I have come to tell you this morning that all hope is not gone yet, all you have to do is put your focus on Jesus. # Dear friend, put your focus on Jesus and He will solve that problem. Put your focus on Jesus and He will ease that heartache. Put your focus on Jesus and He will sooth that pain. Put your focus on Jesus and He will lift that burden. Put your focus on Jesus and you will have that testimony in Jesus name! #PRAYER Father, thank You for Your already stretched out arm to help me through. As i focus on You, Lord keep me and deliver me from all forms of boisterious wind and distractions in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! TUESDAY, 12/09/2017 #TOPIC: SPIRITUAL FAMINE/DRYNESS/DRAUGHT (PT. 2) #TEXT: Amos 8:12 (KJV) 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 1 Samuel 28:6-7 (KJV) 6 And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. 7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor. #MESSAGE: Welcome to today's devotional! My prayer for you is that you will never experience spiritual draught in Jesus mighty name. Spiritual famines kills, as a matter of fact that's what killed king Saul. # Another factor that triggers spiritual famine is disobedience and idolatry. It was the disobedience of Saul that made God to cut off all the medium of communications, and famine came in. He was hungry and thirsty for the Word, he really needed to hear God but draught has come. He now sealed his foolishness by consulting familiar spirit which is idolatry, and that made God to shut the heavens over him. # Read this scripture that buttress what actually happened to king Saul. Amos 8:12-13 (KJV) 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. # Friends, whatever that is making you to walk in disobedience to God is only setting you up for spiritual dryness. To some it could be an idol in their heart: something other than God which takes first place in your priorities. Listen, when God lose the throne of your heart, He is moved to jealousy. He will be compelled to withdraw so that you could be given a chance to see the futility of serving the alternative you have chosen. Some people may not live to recover from this, that is why you must ensure you set Him first in "all" things. # Beloved, if God is not occupying the first place in your life, but you allow (even legitimate) things such as work, business ventures or academic pursuit to take the center stage of your life, God will be forced to withdraw His grace, and of course, when His grace is withdrawn, failure is inevitable! # Dearly beloved, if you don't want to experience spiritual famine, you must walk in total obedience and dethrone whatever that has become an idol in your life. #PRAYER: Father Lord, whatever the idol, and however dear to me, that is making me to walk in disobedience, help me to dethrone it and obey you only in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
LIFEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTER: #DAILY #DEVOTIONAL THE WORD FOR TODAY! MONDAY, 11/09/2017 #TOPIC: SPIRITUAL FAMINE/DRYNESS/DRAUGHT (PT. 1) #TEXT: Amos 8:4-6, 11 (KJV) 4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, 5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat? :11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD #MESSAGE: Famines do not just come, they are the product of some acts of disobedience, neglect of necessary duty, or some infringement. Most people that are going through famine have done something to attract it. Hear the scripture, Proverbs 26:2 (KJV) As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. # The worst thing that could happen to any believer is to face spiritual famine. This has nothing to do with physical food or water, you may even have those in abundance. But when you can no longer hear God, understand or decode any spiritual signal from God, then spiritual draught has come. Read the His word again: Amos 8:11, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD # Friends, today, let's consider one factor that could trigger spiritual famine in the life of a believer. In the book of Amos chapter 8 and verses 4 to 6, the first thing that stands out as likely cause for spiritual famine is OPPRESSION. God hates poverty and He shows compassion towards the poor, because He has a soft spot for them. That is why you don't oppress the less privileged. # Beloved, do you know that anyone who oppresses or defrauds the poor is opening doors to spiritual famine? Maybe you are rich but your riches came by cheating the poor, you are only opening doors to spiritual draught. # Today, some spiritual gifts in the lives of some believers can no more function because their wickedness towards the less privileged has eroded the oil of grace needed to operate such gifts. As a lead pastor or departmental head, how are you treating those under you? # Dear friends, are there spiritual gifts you once enjoyed which you no longer manifest now? Then check your life and see those you have been oppressing, particularly fellow believers. #PRAYER: Father, in anyway I have attracted spiritual famine, have mercy on me. Lord, open my eyes of understanding to see what i am doing wrong in the capacity you have place me so as to restitute and make amends in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |

( PT. 2) #TEXT: Matthew 18:21-22 (KJV) 21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 6:12 (KJV) And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. #MESSAGE: God tells us to forgive because God in Christ has forgiven us a debt we cannot pay. When we do this, we do ourselves a favor because harboring bitterness and unforgiveness can sometimes destroy our health, and ultimately our life! # The word and act of forgiveness is a very heavy word to speak or to practice by a lot of people even some Christians find it difficult when it comes to the subject of forgiveness. But forgiveness is a key that opens doors of blessings spiritually. So if you do not forgive, you lack this key that opens doors. To the point, that the bible said, when we stand to give to God and we remember somebody that we have not forgiven that we must go back and reconcile. # Yesterday, we looked at what it means to forgive. So today, lets briefly look at what it means to forget. Many have been asking whether it is possible in reality to forget. But one fact you must appreciate is that when you truly forget, you have forgiven. Now, to forget does not mean that your memories may not recall the event but it means that even if there is a memory recall, there will be no pains and grudges in your heart. # Remember Joseph's case? Joseph had forgiven his brothers before they came and bowed before him. He remembered what they did to him, but he did not remember it with bitterness. (Genesis 50:15–21) So you may remember the incident, but the bitterness is gone because you have put the cross in the picture. In other words, you are saying,“God in Christ forgave me. My Wife, my husband, I forgive you. Daddy, I forgive you. Mama, I forgive you. My cousin, I forgive you. # Beloved, to learn how to forgive easily, you must be ready to first forgive whether you are at fault or not. Hear this; How many times would your brother, spouse, colleague or anybody offend you and you will not forgive? This was the question that Peter asked and Jesus replied, “Seventy times seven,” at one particular sin and in one instance. So when you calculate it, you will get four hundred and Ninety times which is not obtainable. In other words, Jesus is saying we are bound to always ‘forgive’ (give out the pains and let it go). # Be reminded, forgiveness strengthens fellowship with God and man. "If you don't forgive and forget, it blocks your access to reach God." #PRAYER: Father, thank You for your Word this morning. Lord, baptize me with spirit of forgiveness in Jesus mighty name. Amen! |
GM008:how do I reach you? |
#Money Mistake 1: Never borrow money that accrues interest to start a business (except if you are paying for it through your salary); only borrow to grow your business. This is because business takes a long time to gain ground and begin making profit, yet most loans repayments have to be made within a month of taking the loan or even earlier. Therefore, never borrow money to start a business expecting that the business will generate income to pay back the borrowed money plus the interest. #Money Mistake 2: Never spend money you haven't received. Don't even promise someone money based on a promise you have from someone else. If someone tells you: "Ezra, come to my office tomorrow at 9am and pick #30K"don't go out to buy items on credit based on this promise, with the hope that you will pay off your creditor when the promised money comes; it may not come as promised and this will leave you in problems with your creditors. #Money Mistakes 3: If you want to save, whenever you receive money, don’t start spending hoping that you’ll save what remains. Normally what remains is zero because as long as money to spend is available, the numerous things you can spend it on are also available. And things to spend on even incite their 'relatives' so that you spend even more than you had planned. When money to spend is not available, we naturally find a way of doing without it. That's why I've learnt to save with an INVESTMENT CLUB. Once I send money there I assume I no longer have it. Before you spend any money, put your savings aside then spend what is left after saving. #Money Mistake 4: When you get an opportunity to meet a very wealthy person, never ask for money. Ask for ideas on how to make money. They may even choose to give you money on their own after seeing that your ideas are great, but let getting money from them never be your objective. #Money Mistake 5: Keeping your seed instead of planting it. Many people stop at saving. It's very, very difficult to save and have all you need to maintain your lifestyle especially after retirement. When you save, your savings are seed; plant it. When you just keep the seed (saving money) some seeds begin to die (eaten by inflation and the like). That's why I recommend that you read about the different types of investment vehicles you can use to grow your savings. I am not necessarily talking about putting the money in a business, because you can easily lose money in business. I am talking about putting it in an investment. #Money Mistake 6: Never lend someone money you are not willing to lose. By the time you lend someone money, be contented in your heart that should the person fail to pay, you will not die. You should not even lose that person's friendship if they fail to repay the money you lent them. If you feel the person might fail to pay you and this will not affect your relationship with them, then lend them money. If their failure to pay would make you hate this person’s entire clan, please advise the person to go to the bank. #Money Mistake 7: Never append your signature to guarantee someone on a financial matter if you are not willing or able to pay the money on their behalf. Do I have to explain that one? No, it's self-explanatory. #Money Mistake 8: Avoid keeping money you don't intend to use in the short-term within easy reach. For instance, don’t walk with #100K in your pocket when all you plan to do in a day costs #20K. Like I mentioned in Money Mistake 3, there are always expenses available to gobble any money that is within reach, so if you don't want to lose it, put it away in a safe place. #Money Mistake 9: Avoid keeping money in inappropriate places e.g. in socks, under the pillow, in a pit, in the sitting room, in the bra, in a travel bag that you will place somewhere in a bus ... impulse buying is a devil that will keep you busy! #Money Mistake 10: Spending money on an item that you can do without (at least for the time being). These days when I pick money from my pocket or wallet, before paying for something I ask myself: What would happen if I didn’t buy this? If I find I can live with the consequences of not having that thing, I smile and walk away. #Money Mistake 11: Paying an amount for something that's not the minimum you can get that same value for. In other words, if you are along Opebi Street and you pay #5K for a shoe that you can get at #3K at Ikeja market, that's a money mistake except for those who have achieved financial freedom. #Money Mistake 12: Wanting to be the savior of the world by helping everyone in financial need. My sister, my brother, you are not Jesus. If you find it so hard to say no to a financial demand, you may think you are practising generosity when in actual sense you are committing (financial) suicide. We are not learning to be miserable here; we are learning to live within the boundaries of reality. #Money Mistake 13: Consistently spending all you earn or more than you earn. It's like having a drum where you have an inlet that's smaller than the outlet. It will never get full. And should the inlet ever reduce significantly the drum will run dry. If you do it the other way round and the inlet is bigger, it will get full and even overflow. Hence, we have to always ensure we are widening the inlet while narrowing the outlet – all the time. Your side hustle comes in handy! #Money Mistake 14: Thinking about short-term only and forgetting about long-term or thinking about the long-term and forgetting about the short-term. For instance, Lydia was told that there's money in land. She saved money over a long period of time and bought 30 acres of land. Now she has the land but she is always broke. She is always complaining. She's disgruntled and she doesn't seem to see herself earning from the land in the near future. Now, let's ask ourselves: Having 30 acres of land and no money to feed your family or take a child to hospital, is that wealth or poverty? I think Lydia only looked at long-term needs and forgot that she has short-term needs that require money. What of those who find they are one paycheck away from salary? Are they thinking about the long-term needs? Let’s take stock of our finances. How many mistakes are you guilty of? Do you now feel better-equipped to do better with these tips?
