Abagworo: Industries have been built but not by government and jobs have been created. The construction works in the State alone has created not less than 50,000 direct and indirect jobs trickling down to supply chain and services. The skills acquisition workshops and empowerment are jobs and the 3000 recently employed into State civil service are equally jobs. Don't mind the Onyeagocha man who thinks like IPOB people that government will build industries. Government industries will never work in the long run. Which 3000 jobs? those ones that have been there have they been paid? Why did the confused governor ask people in the civil service to go to farms?in what country is that done? |

Abagworo: Bla bla bla bla bla bla blabbing. Politicians should leave us to judge as their lies and blackmail are dead on arrival. No Governor can actually compare with Okorocha in all aspects of governance. He has never launched any project as these liars alleged but you only wake up to see new and completed projects daily and in thousands. He has only commissioned 3 projects; the 24 hours health centre, urban mass transit and City primary school but he has thousands of very visible completed projects he has refused to engage in fanfare with. What happened to IMO Air nwanne? Y ain't they flying no more? My aunt and uncle who are pensioners haven't been paid in over a year. Okorocha is the greatest scam...in fact the worse governor in the entirety of the south east. |

I can't come and kill myself I had two applications with two different mails which I submitted only one...I got approval for the one I submitted but the one in which there was an incomplete application I got a mail with an invite for test dated 1970 as well. So I believe u must have made an incomplete application. I might be wrong though. |

Speaking from a very reliable source in mgt the portal was open for a few days recently even after the expiration of the deadline although it was done because of personal interests of some students who were affected. |

ThierryJay: The above is not true sirs and madam. The 10percent ice-berg portion above the water level will contract into the space occupied by the 90% underneath when the ice-berg melts, leading to zero change in the sea level since the ice berg is already in the sea. The basis is that when ice melts, it contracts into about 90% of the volume it initially occupied.
However, contrary to what most people have been saying here, the sea-level will RISE when a one-trillion tonne ice-cap breaks into the sea, as its one-trillion tonne weight will displace a similar amount of water upwards or sidewards. The rise in sea-level is not from melting but from its original displacement into the sea. Thus, any resultant increase in the water level from this break-away should be happening gradually now and not when the ice-berg melts. No sir! The elevation of ice above water will add to the volume when it melts...the ice under water is what equates to the volume displaced and not those above. |

DrayZee: Ok NickD . This is the main stuff right here. She got it exactly. The sea level WILL increase, but only in relation to the percentage of the ice cap that was/is above the water. I thought of it, but I didn't really want to pursue the matter any further.
And madam...wehdon. Yh very true. QueenbeeQbQ I hail thee wehdone. |
Education › Re: A Trillion-tons Iceberg, 4 Times The Size Of London Broke-off Antarctica(photos) by NickD(m): 2:42pm On Jul 15, 2017 |
DrayZee: Yh there will be more water in the search. But the main thing here is the water/ sea level with respect to land. If it remains the same or even reduces due to melting, then flooding might not really occur. That's why the surface of the earth contains so much water that should even spill over and flood all land...but it doesn't. The water level is the main thing. https://www.skepticalscience.com/Sea-level-rise-due-to-floating-ice.html check that out. |

BuddhaPalm: My oga this global warming part is Fake News...
Here's from the CNN article you linked:
"Calving is a natural occurrence, but scientists have been exploring whether climate change may have played a role in expediting the rift.
The team of researchers have not yet found "any link to human-induced climate change," Martin O'Leary, a Swansea University glaciologist and member of the MIDAS project team, said in a statement." A simple question don't be offended....the intensity of heat we've been experiencing have u noticed any difference over the years? Is it the same heat intensity we had in 1998 we are experiencing? There are statistical data online showing the rising levels of temperature on earth. And what happens when heat comes in contact with ice? |
Education › Re: A Trillion-tons Iceberg, 4 Times The Size Of London Broke-off Antarctica(photos) by NickD(m): 12:05pm On Jul 15, 2017 |
NickD: U have a valid argument on that based on displacement theory or should I say upthrust in Physics. Nice perspective I actually haven't looked at it from this angle but then it means when there is a massive wave there would be more water in the sea that would cause more destruction so in the end it's still the same result of more flooding to those coastal towns that's the argument. Added to this it means that the land mass around the coast will reduce because water will migrate inwards into land displacing people. |
Education › Re: A Trillion-tons Iceberg, 4 Times The Size Of London Broke-off Antarctica(photos) by NickD(m): 11:46am On Jul 15, 2017 |
Dscientist: @DrayZee is right. The breaking of the ice will not cause any overall increment in the volume of water and as such there won't be any increase in the water level, moreso the melting of the ice is just a change of state from the solid to liquid phase, the iceberg is floating on the ocean hence the volume of the iceberg had already added up to the volume of the ocean water. According to the law of flotation
A floating object displaces a weight of fluid equal to its own weight. U have a valid argument on that based on displacement theory or should I say upthrust in Physics. Nice perspective I actually haven't looked at it from this angle but then it means when there is a massive wave there would be more water in the sea that would cause more destruction so in the end it's still the same result of more flooding to those coastal towns that's the argument. |
Education › Re: A Trillion-tons Iceberg, 4 Times The Size Of London Broke-off Antarctica(photos) by NickD(m): 11:38am On Jul 15, 2017 |
DrayZee: Lol. Calm down. The issue of the ice melting is another case entirely. In that case, the molecules in ice are actually less compact than that of liquid water. So if the ice should melt, it will take up less space.
The implication of this is that, melting of ice caps may not necessarily increase the water level.
You can try it yourself. Put a piece of ice into a cup, then fill to the brim with water. This will cause the ice to float (as we both know). Then allow the ice to melt. |

DrayZee: Lol. This your bucket example though. It has a flaw. If the ice was never in the bucket full of water in the first place, then of course the bucket would spill water. But here, the ice has always been there. It simply broke off. And when it breaks off what then happens? Does it still remain as ice? NO. It's a practical stuff u can do at home to have a better understanding. |

Adeoba10: We know its serious, but explain to us Picture a bucket of water that is 3/4 full then u place packs of ice into it that are numerous...it will lead to the bucket being filled with water and pouring out anything surrounding that bucket will get wet. As the sea level is rising from the melting of ice caps in the polar region or Antarctica more water is introduced into already existing bodies the shoreline or river bank would be receding inwards into dry land within the coastal regions that is cities and places bordered by the Atlantic ocean leading to massive flooding in those regions... If the entire ice cap melts then some cities would be submerged under water due to their nearness to the ocean and their low topography. |
