Unless the Super Eagles duo of Emmanuel Emenike and Joseph Yobo move away from their current Turkish club, Fenerbahce, they remain banned from European club competition till the 2015/16 football season.

The sad development came on the heels of the final ruling delivered on Wednesday by the Court of Arbitration for Sport who dismissed Fenerbahce’s appeal against a two-year competition ban which had been imposed by UEFA.

Tuesday’s ruling means Fenerbahce remain expelled from the Europa League and barred from qualifying for next season's Champions League following a match-fixing case.

UEFA expelled Fenerbahce in June after judging that club officials helped fix matches to win the 2011 Turkish league title.

UEFA rules bar clubs which are implicated in fixing matches played since April 2007, the European football governing body however agreed to let Fenerbahce play Champions League matches pending the CAS verdict.

It is unclear who will take the place of the Turkish giants in the Europa League.
This is a very bad news for Emmanuel Emenike who just re-joined the club last two weeks. Could this affect him psychologically in Nigeria's world cup qualifing match against the flames of Malawi? Pls, air your position.

Microsoft has announced that it would shut down support for its 11-year old Windows XP operating system widely used in personal computers and laptops over security concerns.
Ahead of the planned shut down,  Microsoft  Acting Country Manager for Nigeria, Mrs Awawu  Olumide-Sojirin told journalists in Lagos that the company will stop  sending updates and assisted support to Windows XP by April, 2014.
She said the measure was taken to protect users of the application from fraudsters and hackers who have found ways to make window-XP  vulnerable.
Awawu noted that Microsoft have since launched window 8, to replace window -XP and urged users to switch to the latest window to avoid  security issues.
She said:  “Microsoft primary focus is to ensure users are protected and Windows 8 is thus capable of providing better security against malware. It contains a Defender; a full-featured anti-virus solution included in every edition of the operating system.
“That is why we are encouraging companies to upgrade to Windows 8. The reasons are obvious: security till today and in future remains a high priority investment area and with it we have enabled a broad range of new capabilities that address the top security needs and threats that they are facing today”.
Also speaking about the development, Mr. Oluyomi Alarape, datacenter solutions Specialist, Microsoft Anglophone West Africa,said Microsoft is ending support for XP because “technology has dramatically changed.”
He noted that the expiration of support for Windows XP is expedient due to the fact that there has been evolution in technology, maintaining that business and personal technology has dramatically changed over the last decade.
“While XP was one of the most popular operating systems in Microsoft’s history, it was not designed to handle the challenges of today, such as the increased exposure to cyber-attacks and demands for more data privacy, unlike our newer operating systems such as Windows 7 and 8,” he said.
He explained that, apparently, the security risk is the most concerning for customers as there are more sophisticated forms of attack which can impact safety of personal information and the hidden costs associated with support and business continuity.
“An 11-year-old operating system can no longer address today’s business and technology needs nor security threats,” he said.
He  hinted that the sharp increase of “hacktivism” and pirated software in 2012 formed part of reasons consumers should upgrade from XP to the latest operating systems such as Windows 7 or 8.

Less than 48 hours after it paraded 44 suspected criminals, the Edo State Police Command on Friday lost four of its men in an attempt to rescue Mike Ozekhome, SAN, from suspected kidnappers.

The suspects, who it was gathered succeeded in taking away Ozekhome and his driver, are being trailed by the police, led by state Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo.

Briefing journalists on the incident in Benin, on Saturday, Adebanjo said, "Operatives of the command led by DPO Ehor Division responded swiftly to a distress call at about 3:30pm that unspecified number of armed men had blocked the Benin-Auchi road by Ehor axis. However, the hoodlums ambushed the patrol vehicle and opened fire on them, prompting an exchange of fire.

"At the end of the gun duel, the hoodlums escaped with bullet wounds but not without their victim, who was later identified upon search on his abandoned vehicle as Ozekhome and his driver. Regrettably, the command lost four officers in the encounter. We salute their rare courage and bravery for they fought and died as heroes for the course of humanity."

The CP continued, "Their death shall not be in vain. We remain undeterred in our fight against banditry."

Speaking on the development over the telephone, Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, said, "We once again call on the general public not to relent in their partnership with the police to fish out the criminals as common enemy to our society and report anyone found with the bullet wounds to the nearest police station."

3 Nigerian students of a private college in Malaysia were killed early morning today while two others suffered serious injuries when their car lost control and crashed into a tree.
The students aged between 29 to 33, were in a Perodua Myvi when it crashed at 2.30am. The dead including the driver, identified as Aliu Tajuden (30), Tope Samuel (30) and Busuyi Zacheus (29), died at the scene while the other two were warded at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJS) for severe injuries.

Police spokesperson said the they were heading to their hostels at the time. "Preliminary investigation suggested that the car was going fast at the one-way lane and lost control, before crashing into a tree," he said. He said the Nigerian embassy was informed of the fatalities, to come claim the bodies.Last respect for them,please

Addis Ababa – The Police in Kenya said Tuesday said they were battling to contain a new trend of commercial sex tourism that targets young boys in the coastal towns of the country .
The reports monitored  from a local radio station, quoted  Police as saying the trend had caused the rise in the sale pampers in the region due to the rising health problems among boys indulging in the act.
Malindi sub county Deputy Police Commissioner, Joshua Nkanatha told Kenya local radio that boys from poor families were being lured into the trade by rich male tourists.
The Police official said the situation had lead to an increase in number of cases of HIV/AIDS spread in the area.
“A survey we conducted shows that boys engaging in sexual activities with male tourists are buying pampers because they can no longer hold their stool, “Nkanatha said.
Nkanatha, who spoke during a Public Baraza at HGM primary school, Malindi said “male prostitution had become high
in Malindi and contributing to increased cases of HIV and AIDS.
He urged educated and concerned members of the public to take up the responsibility of enlightening the youths
about the health risks of engaging in the vice.
