PoliticsRe: Presidency Uncovers Plans To Scuttle Elections, Says NSA by nickxtra(m): 2:21am On Jan 30, 2019
Ray97:
THE Presidency yesterday said it had, through intelligence reports, uncovered plot by some elements within the polity to cause widespread violence during and after the forthcoming general elections.

National Security Adviser Maj.-Gen. Babagana Mongouno (retd) sounded the alert at an emergency meeting with the Nigerian Governors Forum in Abuja yesterday.

The meeting, which had 21 state governors in attendance, was also attended by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and the Director General of Department of State Services Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi.

Monguno said government is concerned that some individuals, who were not sure of their fate in the coming elections, were plotting widespread crises aimed at scuttling the conduct of the polls.

According to him, the present administration is taking proactive steps and measures to ensure a peaceful, free, fair and credible election, stressing that government has, therefore, banned the use of private security and vigilante groups across the country during the election.

He expressed concerns that the strategy being employed by people, who did not mean well for the country is to instigate crises that could snowball into endless crises for the present administration and the citizenry.

The NSA urged the governors to partner with security agencies to ensure that the conduct of the elections is peaceful and credible all over the country.

He assured that the security agencies would not only remain neutral, but maintain high level of professionalism and vigilance during elections.

However, Zamfara State governor and the NGF Chairman, Abdullaziz Yari said the Forum and President Buhari are on the same page that the coming election is not a do or die affair, asserting the Forum would partner with security agencies across the country to deliver a credible election.

“We are prepared to partner with security agencies to ensure that the process is credible and that the elections are acknowledge as free and fair by both local and international observers,” Yari said.

Yari, who was flanked by his colleagues while presenting a two-page communique issued by the forum at the end of the meeting, said the governors hailed the NSA Office for organising the meeting.

He, however, expressed concern over the spate of kidnapping and arms proliferation in the country.

He said: “Members of the governors’ forum are committed to collaborate with security agencies to ensure that the forthcoming elections are free, fair and conducted in an environment conducive for peaceful elections.

“Governors are, however, concern about the proliferation of arms and ammunition and the spate of kidnapping across the country.

“The forum recommends stronger collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies in the country to ensure that all lives and property are protected, regardless of individual or group affiliations.

“Lastly, we seek stronger synergy between governors as the chief security officers of their respective states and the heads of security agencies to strengthen preemptive measures of curbing election violence and other anti-social vices.”

Imagine people are fighting to get food items for survival. It was also gathered that the rushing of food items was caused by hunger and lack of cordination during the sharing.

SportsRe: Efe, Steven and Bright Sodje Jailed For Fraud by nickxtra(m): 8:31pm On Jan 21, 2019
Freddyjimoh:
A sporting family siphoned off cash from their own charity set up to help African children, it can be reported.

Ex-footballers Efe Sodje, 46, and Stephen Sodje, 43, and ex-rugby player Bright Sodje, 52, were found guilty and jailed for the fraud in 2017.

The case can only be reported now following the conclusion of a separate trial involving former Reading and Nigeria footballer Sam Sodje, 39.

Earlier on Monday, he was cleared at the Old Bailey of money laundering.

The fraud trial in 2017 had heard how the family set up the Sodje Sports Foundation (SSF) in 2009, ostensibly to help provide facilities in Nigeria.

However, cash raised at black-tie dinners, auctions, charity football matches and a clay pigeon shoot went into Sodje bank accounts, prosecutor Julian Christopher QC said.

In once instance, in 2011, there was a gala dinner at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester for the SSF and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

The £150-a-head black-tie event raised almost £11,500, but Mr Christopher said "not a penny" went to the hospital.

Judge Michael Topolski QC told the defendants: "You have brought shame upon yourselves and your family."

He said "at least £63,000 can been shown to have been received by the fund", and added that this did not include cash donations.

The defendants "went out of their way" to ensure that proper records were not kept, he said.

Any good works done in the past would be "forever tainted by their dishonest and disreputable conduct", he added.

Stephen Sodje, of Bexley, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for receiving £30,000 in charity funds.

Efe Sodje, of Cheadle in Greater Manchester, who was "the face" of the charity, was given 18 months in jail for receiving £7,500 from the SSF and an unknown amount from a clay pigeon shooting event.

Bright Sodje, of Sale in Greater Manchester, was jailed for 21 months for receiving £3,000 from the charity and signing cheques to other family members totalling £18,000.

Reporting restrictions meant the brothers' convictions could only be reported following the conclusion of the separate money-laundering case.

Efe Sodje was cleared of money laundering at the Old Bailey in January 2018 but Emmanuel Ehikhamen, 53, of south-east London, and Andrew Oruma, 50, of Bexley, south London, were convicted.

The case against Sam Sodje collapsed and his retrial began on 7 January 2019.

Mr Sodje, who also played for Charlton Athletic, Brentford and Leeds United during his career, was charged with four counts of taking part in a fraud in which bank accounts were used to channel money from companies around the world.

He was found not guilty of two of the charges on 14 January and cleared of the remaining two counts earlier on Monday.

Another of the brothers, Akpo Sodje, 37, was implicated but moved to Dubai and refused to return to Britain for questioning.

PoliticsWhy You Think Atiku Backed Out Of Debate? Read This by nickxtra(op):
*Hymar IDIBIE DAVID’s Facebook wall *

Yesterday, Atiku showed why exactly he's my candidate.

A lot of people are claiming he showed his disregard for them.

No. You are wrong.

There's only one person who showed his disregard for Nigerians. And it is not the man who flew in from America and turned up at the venue of the debate. No, not Atiku. Man showed up! He even explained his reasons for not joining the debate eventually ( I wish those people had me to articulate their thoughts properly, whoever wrote that release no too know book.)

What was Buhari's excuse apart from "I wasn't aware there was a debate"?

Listen, you see those 3 people who showed up for the debate? Oby, Fela, Kingsley? You see them? They are frauds.

I said it . They are frauds.

They pretend to give a shit about the country, but ultimately they are there for themselves.

Let me tell you why.

Months ago, 3 of them, along with Omoyele Sowore formed PACT. The aim of pact was for them to work together. To unify and pick ONE of them to be the presidential candidate while the others throw their weights behind that ONE person.

They did some sort of primary to elect that ONE person and Fela Durotoye won.

So, what next? The others should honour their PACT and support him right?

Nope. Kingsley Moghalu and Sowore rejected the result of the selection and backed out. Oby was in charge of that selection, she too backed away to run her own thing.

Now ask yourself, people who couldn't honour a simple PACT between themselves, people who couldn't accept the result of an election they conducted within themselves, people who couldn't unite to pursue a common goal, why the Bleep should I trust them with my vote?

More importantly, why the Bleep should Atiku walk into a debate where those same people will be his opponents?

You think Atiku is stupid? You think it is because "he's not their match intellectually?" I swear you people are joking.

You want him to go to a debate where the main opponent has backed out and people who are rumoured to be working clandestinely to split votes in favour of that same opponent are gathered together

Listen, it wouldn't be a debate. It would be a gangup. It would be a cornering. It wouldn't even be about APC and her failures (as it should be) , it wouldn't even be about Nigeria, those 3 will try to attack Atiku at every turn. They would try to put him on the defensive. They would use his position as a former Vice-president to throw mud.

That's what APC folks were counting on. That's why they were so disappointed because Atiku and his handlers outfoxed them. Dem wan use am trend for Twitter and propagandaville

A debate should be balanced with everybody taking on each other's points. A 3 vs 1 scenario isn't a debate, it is a gangup.

Check yesterday's debate. Did Fela Durotoye talk about the questionable integrity of Kingsley Moghalu who couldn't honour his end of the PACT? Did Kingsley Moghalu address his claims of rigging which was the reason he gave for not honouring the PACT? No, they were blowing grammar like they had never had any dealings before. They were talking like few months ago, Kingsley wasn't claiming Fela Durotoye cheated and Fela wasn't expressing disappointment that Kingsley and Sowore had shown themselves to be nothing but overambitious power hustlers. Even Oby that is forming firebrand, did she mention anything about PACT? Did she say "two of you couldn't even honour a simple agreement, why should you be trusted to honour the constitution? How are you different from the average Nigerian politician?"

No. They were acting like it was all cool and roses. Like they were the hopes and saviours of Nigeria. But once Atiku takes the stand, they will suddenly remember to be outraged and angry and concerned about the past and his honour and history.

(And you want me to believe those guys are not clandestinely working for APC? Shebi that was how Tunde Bakare and co were jumping up and down years ago, shouting save Nigeria. But today when Nigeria really needs saving, they are not saying pim. Hahaha. You can only fool Omo Iya Martha once.)

And you want Atiku to walk right into that?

Guys, leave talk, Atiku is a smart man.

Last las, this election is between Buhari and Atiku. I can't stress it enough. Even if they had kept their word and stuck with PACT, Oby and her co 419 people don't have what it takes to battle for a governorship election, let alone a presidential election. The bizzare thing is they know it. They know they have no chance. Not even close.

So why do they keep on? Well, I can understand Fela is mad and thinks he can believe to achieve and change the look of Nigeria's archives, but the others? They are shady. They are unrealistic frauds. Did you see the kind of people they picked as Vice president? Did you watch the vice presidential debate? People that cannot even pick a decent VP, na them you believe dem go pick the right ministers? Frauds.

And ndi "Atiku has lost my votes" , please kindly geddifok. Goan vote Oby and her co-fraudsidental aspirants na. Since Occupy Nigeria and its aftermath didn't give you small sense.
