Tabletopdog:
Sorry to resurrect this thread. But I agree with your sentiments exactly. Also, I have connections (technocrats) in this new administration that may be more amenable to your concerns and have real power to effect change. Are you full stack or front end only? Putting together a business plan and would love to see your work. If you’re interested, please Respond and we can connect.

Thanks
Oh why not? It's what I know how to do best in this world. I'd say I'm a fullstack but recently, I read an article on Medium about the argument of being a fullstack when in fact, we're actually product engineers.
Taking a small snippet from the post,

"Product Engineers work backwards from the desired product experience to the set of technologies that enable it. They consider the frontend, backend, design, and everything in between to create a great user experience."

I'd be more than happy to share my ideas and experiences.
I am connecting with you now.
ProgrammingRe: Urgent App Development Needed. by niel63(m): 9:34am On Aug 06, 2023
Hi OP,
I actually have a restaurant app I was working on as a side project sometime back.
Built with React Native using latest EXPO SDK.

The backend and database can be modelled using tools like Supabase or Hasura for fast backend provisioning. They give you out of the box rest and graphql API. However, if you're looking to go headson, I can build you your own graqhql API using Apollo Server on Express or Nestjs. I'd have suggested Laravel but then, building out microservice makes an app more scalable and also following decoupled architecture paradigm + more importantly, im favoring graphql to rest apis. Postgres as always would be the choice database I'd suggest here for obvious reasons too.
Authentication and Authorization, well, using row level security policy right out of the database is one sweet advantage of using postgres + its trigger and functions.
So, running logic right on the database itself makes developers life easier and your app, faster.

What else, hmmm... I don tire to preach. grin

App will be coded using Typescript/React.

If you still want chrome extension and desktop app join sef. We go run am using a familar codebase.

However you choose to go on this, it's not gonna be cheap.

Buzz me let me send you the APP file you can install and see the UI and flow. Or maybe I'll jusk a video and send to you.

The website is just an interesting one 🤔 .

The mixed feelings of UI/UX. Rooting into culture.

Product design is an interesting route.

RomanceRe: Why Is Cheating Considered Normal For Men? by niel63(m): 6:22pm On Aug 01, 2023
All these are rubbish questions.

Men cheat because they are men. Right from time immemorial, men have always been MEN.

Eve open Adam eyes, dem no tell us wetin happen afterwards.
Right from the first men, men had cheated.
Solomon get how many wives again sef?

Nothing happened. So it is the rule.

It is only when you, personally decide NOT to cheat. We have quality men too ooo!
But then, men are scum.

So, which kind yeye question you dey ask for here? and women cheat too and it's worse cos most times, it's unthinkable!!!

Paternity Fraud.

We can go on and on, it is no justification for anyone cheating.

Y'all need to make a decision and bleeping stick to it.

Yeah... but does everything you know in Tech revolves only around these? Tooling nko?

Tech is deep and 9ja never see kpakam!
When people like the OP talk like this, I go dey wonder whether dem think say e easy.
It's a lifestyle. Not a shortcut or solution to ends meet.

Tech goes beyond the html, css and all we think we're familiar with.

Do you even know much technical writing takes alone? 🤔

That too isn't easy.

See ehn, make una leave all these yans.

If you know what you're doing, tech Jobs will come for you.
Question is, how are you going about it. How much knowledge do you have in the whole tech eco-system.

It's not all about html, css and js or python and golang.

The bottom line is, The Nigerian tech market is not mature atall.
Imagine quoting a project in USD in Nigeria and they complain that why are you quoting in USD, then you try doing it in Naira... the money come plenty...

The next thing the person will call you is theif grin

The problem is not Tech, we the people are the real problems.

Everyone in Naija wants the best services at a mediocre cost. Tech isn't magic.
Tech is GIGO (Garbage in, Garbage out). Na wetin you give am, e go give you.

You do not expect to grow beyond what you see if you don't feed your curiosity 💯

I am not the best, I mean no even sabi anything but then, one thing I know about the knowledge you choose to feed yourself in Tech is you have to diversify.
The only thing I crave is to build out unique ideas and watch it boom.

Na wetin dey my mind. Naija sabi spoil better thing.

Tech isn't going nowhere, it's a journey and for the journey, if you tire, you got sitdon or you give up.

You created a challenge thread, yet you don't want challenge.

Mr No-suggestion-is-welcome, I am not preaching reinventing the wheel. For simple things, copy and paste codes instead of installing a library.

I always use react-hook-form for client side React forms, and I always use Zod for form validations... I am not against using libraries.

I know say you follow for the millions of people that use the is-odd library. undecided A library that returns true is a number is an odd number shocked and it has millions of downloads.

Your client specifically requested for the library grin grin grin I will not call you a liar sha.

You want us to troll? I will happily do so. I have over 10 years of experience in stupidity. I will bring you down to my level and destroy you with experience. grin grin grin Try me kiss

So it's a balance, for a non technical client he won't be bothered about the approach, some clients might have restrictions towards using some libraries because of license. so they'd rather roll out their version.

For me I will write mine, because most often times, the libraries are over-kill
You'll write yours against client's request?

These libraries have large weekly downloads... this particular one has almost 3million weekly downloads and I wonder who uses them 🤔
These libraries have backers and sponsors and I wonder who they are for.

It'll always boil down to choices and approaches.

Everything nor be troll. He has a point. Not all libraries are well optimized. They add unnecessary code and packages you don't need. Its why I mostly try to go through a package especially if it's from someone new. to see if there's unnecessary stuffs there, if I find any I just jejely crtl C and V what I need if its not too complicated. Or find a more optimized alternative
And nobody is even arguing that one with you or anyone par se. 🙄
One thing I learnt with Nigerians tech-head is, we too like to correct other people's work while leaveing out ours in the git repos. Shebi we know say NPM dey make app dey bloated.
If I pay you money to use am, if you like no use am. Come dey preach give me... I go kukuma carry my money give who go use the library for me.

I won't call it trolling. Npm dependencies add layers of bloat for something that can be done easily with FileReader
There's a difference in tone... however, the point is, shebi these things na choice? I choose what I choose and that's my business.

Sometimes I prefer writing my own css classes than using tailwindcss or sass or any other library.

When i built the component, the library was specifically asked for.
So sometimes I dey wonder why people just dey like do oversabi.

Client say him want something and I suppose do otherwise abi? He won't even accept the bounty cos you didn't follow specific rules.
