airsaylongcome:I was hoping to create the backend from scratch using graphql with prima on postgres or sanity Headless... but this one looks good. I can tweak it for my use. It looks packed with outta the box solution. I don fork the repo. |
How about you create it and chat us when you do... so we can review it. See your mouth like chat me up. ![]() |
qtguru:Thanks again baba. |
Tobedated:You're on the right track. Don't forget about the options page too... |
qtguru:Thank man! I see you're using webpack. I actually used browserify in my extension. Both actually do almost same thing. Is there any extra advantage to using webpack? I wan know everything for this jouney... I miss one work like that worth about $4k. I was just looking like mumu when they were saying things i did not understand. That's why I have been asking you about building complex extensions. ![]() The market now na large market. Modified: For some doubting thomas' you can actually be a bounty hunter on replit. And they have alot of cool side projects you can quickly work in all tech stacks. Most good projects are based on AI and ML |
qtguru:This is very insightful, but I hope you know the term "background worker has been renamed/changed to service worker in the new manifest (This means that, you don really tey for this chrome extension journey... moving forward, they are dropping support for other versions.)" but then, i'd like to know the limitation of the content script. On a very basic level, I understand the content script responds to web urls/path to which you want it to work on... right? Does this mean that using the content script is a better approach to developing really complex chrome extensions? Especially when you need to communicate with API? and of course, working with node modules. I started out with Vanilla JS just to get the concept of it all, but I will eventually switch to svelte or react. Me just wan know the real koko first. |
qtguru:Exactly my intention and I hope to learn more from you. The chrome architecture seem quite simple but not all straightforward. With the new v3 manifest and it's APIs I want to really understand how to use node modules with the service worker. As we know chrome extensions SW isn't as it's web counterpart. Let say in a situation where someone is bundling out a very complex extension. |
Paystack:Vanilla! |
So, I don come again. Y'all know how I preach about project based learning? Well, recently, I just don't understand this trend of chrome extensions. The market for this thing seem to be booming like mad now. Especially now wey AI don dey power almost everything on the internet. I know a lot of people do not like js and frontend, well, no be me! ![]() While we can do alot on the backend, business logic and stuff. I think I understand now more than before, people really want to see the beauty of messy backend and how do you put it to them without html, css and javascript? Anyways, I don't care. So, I decided to finally try out chrome extension development and I must say, it's a simple as it is fun. Right now, I be newbie for the trend. I be total olodo and i am hoping to learn more from my oga's wey see road wella for here. I was able to achieve this in the first 24 hours of my learning process, had to still leave sha oo to do other works that put food on the table. But then, I must say it has been really fun and I am looking to doing more here. While this is a side project and a work in progress, I don't mind getting more insight on how to improve it especially with the new manisfest v3 which is totally different from the previous versions. I'd love y'all to educate me more on the chrome API and its usage. As for the styling, well... there was no design inspiration as everything was brough out exactly as it is in my head. Animation and transition would be added eventually. I think this is a great project to add to my portfolio. Please, share your thoughts. We all dey learn. Backenders, I know how difficult it is to share project ideas and progress because of the project nature. I dey do backend too and e no make sense to dey show wetin dey happen behind behind. So, make I use this frontend dey clean mouth. That wan sef dey!!! ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUPG7Oc6BYA Modified: As usual, I like color scheme. So i made it both light and dark mode compatible using the prefers-color-scheme css media property.

Commoting subsidy without plans be like who keep belle without any plans. Suffer go enter. The roads are already scanty! Na from clap e dey enter dance!!! |
Paystack:Paystack is my favorite savage king now. Until someone else beats him to it ![]() I like when you spit out the words irrespectively. Nack me apkako too when you can. GREATIGBOMAN na another person wey I like how he dey enter people... The dude sef don enter me before too... But in all, it's all love. Good job guys. We need that humor sometimes. Life too hard ![]() |
37 people for not paying money they are not even seeing in the first place. Today, I heard the touts have increased their transport levy in Lagos... even with the fuel scarcity and hardship. Who dey whine who? The roads are scanty in urban areas... what more of the rural ones. May their soul rest in peace. God help Nigeria. I love my country. But dislikes their unfavorable policies and wicked politicians. |
jmoore:Bro the whole Nigerian security system. They only know how to prey on the poor and innocent. I was a victim of the sit at home once... I complained but then, I realised the world does not revolve around just me. The Igbos have a long lasting history of being very stubborn. And you can either beat them to it, or you join them. There's a slave landing in FACT that's still recorded hisorically... Na them. Shey you get? Na their blood. Even when I see wetin the military dey do sef, me sef no come dey blame dem again sef. if your protector becomes your oppressor, then you do anyhow you like. It's a simple phylosophy... If you can't be there, I think, there are about 30 more states that does businesses on mondays. Just Move. I did the same. |
Paystack just come here dey press her neck. ![]() This thread dey make me laugh. ![]() |
Devdevdev:That's why we have different cadre of engineering. Junior, Mid level, Senior etc. Oyinbo wey group no know wetin dem dey do ba? Madam do whatever makes you happy. But not by talking down on what you personally do not like, we have people here you might be misleading. That's how that one came on airsaylongcome to talk about small knowledge he has on linux os, make una dey try keep kwayet!!! And since you seem to have figured it out, how about you just rest. You won't be the first to say this, neither will you be the last. Your backend knowledge is total rubbish if you don't have a good FE to feed your product to the end users. Abi who you dey program for? To even say, people who know their trades in these stacks don't even make plenty noise. 🙄 Na always una. Well, like I said, since you've broken the code to being a success in your field, please by all mean, excel and soar beyond limits. I wish you the best okay. Ngwa rest biko Modified: UI/UX designer is now a full time job Product Design is now a full time job And they dont even code. Oya go and tell them they are not into tech. |
The earlier you realise that frontend isn't for you, the better you are. My point is, people hate what they don't understand. Op sound really really frustrated and forgot about the job market. Different folks, different strokes sha. You hate javascript yet you can't do without it. Well, that's why it's everywhere and every language dey try one way or the other integrate am into their system... even if na plugin. Frontend is hard. Take it or leave it. You have to be a very creative person to understand the intricacies involved in it. Frontend this, frontend that, yet... most Jobs you see out there have atleast one opening for this role. The earlier you quit the hate for something you don't understand, the better for you. If you get a USD7k frontend gig, please bring it to me. I will execute it whilst you wait for your Fortran or Scala role. But mind you, before you'd be picked, the company would rather go for veterans in the system. Modified: I know even know why I answer you sef. You be rubbish person. ![]() You once stated you hated backend. https://www.nairaland.com/7554334/back-end-development-boring-hate-it And I understand you just started the whole tech journey last year 2022. You really have a long way to go. Just dey play. |
You will be scammed again. Rubbish!!!! State out your requirements and expectations. Acceptable criteria and end result you're looking to achieve. And of course, your budget which often lead to the scam you just talked about. |
Obrigardo:You can help do a better job. But the problem now is, your kinda news aren't related to the local communities. Our verification here is our phone and social media. We go debunk am later. You forget say any news na news! |
Guy I be igbo boy, worse come to worse, I enter alaba or ladipo. Man must survive. The drawback we have here is, Nigerians need to be sensitised on everything Tech. I know how many times I've been called scam for sending quotes... how do you sell what they don't understand. |
Femi8586:You be gay? Why do you feel attacked.? I said what I said. I don't have anything against anyone's sexuality but, they all look what they look. Plus, shey u call them woman! They are supposed to be attractive. If you see a woman looking like a man, won't you call her a tomboy? Dey play... dey disguise. |
Deicide:Fastify with nestjs really does live up to its name. |
Deicide:Nestjs. Express. But you know nestjs is just a wrapper for express and fastify that forces you to follow a practical convention. Anybody can structure express anyhow they like just like codeigniter but nestjs, it's all a concise pattern. All developers can follow through with slight modifications on how they connect to their DB. I use typeorm sha. Schema first approach. |
Oh them dey give award for Nigeria? Chai... I dey dull. 😂😂 Omo see list nau. ![]() Does this award comes with prize money? Lemme know my prize money. ![]() |
CodeTemplar:Templar... you be man. ![]() OR woman. OR he/she/himself/herself/itself. Afterall, we all identify an anything these days. ![]() You told him the ONlY truth in these IT thing. You are experienced. I need learn more boss. ![]() |
LARAVEL Codeigniter na for small projects... if you wan scale, I use God beg you, use laravel. I've used both in live projects and I know. But now, na javascript demon 😈 I be... node all things. Golang for clients who can pay. ![]() |
They all look gay though... ![]() Modified: Man go comfortably wear tinpa (pant) dey display. I mean, those are the stuffs to look out for... If it looks gay, its definitely gay bro!!! No 2 words. |
And you una want make peter obi win... ![]() The evil ones know what they fear. ![]() If I try do 1/4 of wetin this nigga do here, dss, nsa, police and the whole Nigeria armed forces would be looking for me rn... but see! It seem very normal here. If government go fir give am contract, wetin again we dey talk. ![]() |
