I think it is only in the South-West that one can get brown roof? Then why are we playing tribal games on Nairaland? |
GogetterMD:Bros, I may not agree with you. We need to decongest Lagos and allow other areas (suburbs) of Lagos to grow economically and socially. It will force down the price of shops and houses in Ikeja area and allow place like Iyana-Ipaja, Abule-Egba to Sango-Otta to tap from the economic advantages of urbanisation. Abmode has prepared these areas for this challenge and make Lagos dream of Mega city a reality with the construction of over 700 access roads within Lagos metropolis. |

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/nigeria-borrows-to-pay-salaries-with-cash-crunch-worsening/ Nigeria borrows to pay salaries with cash crunch worsening. A cash shortage caused by low oil prices has forced Nigeria to borrow heavily through the early part of 2015, with the government struggling to pay public workers, officials said Wednesday. “We have serious challenges. Things have been tough since the beginning of the year and they are likely to remain so till the end of the year,” said Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. *Finance Minister, Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala*Finance Minister, Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala Nigeria, Africa’s top economy and largest oil producer, has been hammered by the 50 percent fall in oil prices, with crude sales accounting for more than 70 percent of government revenue. “As it stands today, most states of the federation have not been able to pay salaries and even the federal government has not paid (April) salary and that is very worrisome,” said Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha. Okonjo-Iweala said the federal government had a projected borrowing allowance for 2015 of 882 billion naira ($4.4 billion/4 billion euros). But 473 billion naira had already been used up to meet recurrent expenditures, including public worker salaries. “We have front-loaded the borrowing programme to manage the cash crunch in the economy,” the minister told reporters. While Okonjo-Iweala said the severity of Nigeria’s cash crunch requires daily management, the problem will almost certainly be off her desk in less than a month. President-elect Muhammadu Buhari will be sworn in on May 29 and is not expected to retain any of the key ministers appointed by outgoing president Goodluck Jonathan. *Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State*Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State Government critics have alleged that Nigeria’s revenue crisis was compounded by excessive and wasteful political spending through last month’s general elections. Leaders of Buhari’s party All Progressives Congress (APC) warned that the incoming administration will be confronted with serious economic headwinds after taking office. Okonjo-Iweala said Nigeria was still projected to grow at 4.8 percent this year and was therefore “doing much better than many other oil producing countries,” similarly hit by the collapse in crude prices. But, as Jonathan leaves office with the government coffers in tatters, observers will likely note his administration’s persistent failure to save for a rainy day. Nigeria typically sets its benchmark crude price between 75 and 80 dollars, and is supposed to deposit excess revenue in a savings account. But even when crude was selling above $100 last year, Jonathan’s administration struggled to build savings. Critics say the excess crude account has been repeatedly raided by powerful political actors. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/nigeria-borrows-to-pay-salaries-with-cash-crunch-worsening/ I don't know why reasonable human being should be blaming the present Government for the woes of Nigeria. I don't dabble into politics especially on Nairaland. Truth be told, we need to be sincere in all things we do and also know that, we will be accountable to all we have done here on Earth. I think we need to be constructive in our arguments, Okonjo will and can never say this statement. I have read lots of papers that have quoted NOI that there was no financial discipline during GEJ regime orchestrated by the Governors and the presidency. |
What a country? |
Dear Nairalanders, I have watched closely the animosities between the three major tribes in Nigeria (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) and we need to stop and discourage this evil especially on Nairaland. Seun Osewa should help us eradicate this tribal agenda by imposing stiffer penalties on whoever that encourages it. We don't need to wait till it gets out of hand before we all act. Please let us all work for the unity of Nigeria. I am not against any tribe right to self determination but should not be violent or throwing insults to other tribes. I am an advocate of peace and love to human kind. I pray for peace of the World. God bless you all. |

Dear Nairalanders, We need stop tribal bashing on nairaland. People outside Nigeria don't know who is Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba. In South Africa today, Igbos and Yorubas are massacred daily. Do they differentiate between the two tribes? We need to wake up and see one another as Nigerian. No tribe is free from crimes and reason why we need must stop accusations and counter accusations. Let us join hands to stop tribalism. |

dunkem21:Our culture have been so eroded to the extent that white man decide our next move as a people. The suits and tie came from the white (British) to promote their home country industries. I don't like people reasoning to jettisoning anything their own. What is bad in this? people are so used to imperialism and slavery. DSTV is one of the thing they brought to kill our culture and we are left with nothing our own. Let us wise up. |
