The 40-year-old,Katie Price star has revealed she has started the process of adopting a child from the West African country after a chance meeting with a woman who works at an orphanage.

She said: ”Well basically, I’ve always said I’ve always wanted to adopt a child. I don’t care if they’ve got disabilities – just because I feel I can offer a place.

Funny enough, I was getting my nails done and there was a lady sitting next to me and I don’t know why, I’m a bit weird like this, but I said to her, ‘Sorry, but are you a nurse?’ Cut a long story short, she wasn’t a nurse but she was telling me how she looks after this orphanage in Nigeria and we got talking and stuff.

I said to her I’ve always wanted to adopt but the thing is, it’s easy to adopt abroad but it’s not easy to bring them back to this country.

Katie revealed she was spurred into taking action when she got talking to a woman at her nail salon who works with an orphanage in Nigeria.

She said: ‘She was telling me how she was looking after this orphan and I told her I always wanted to adopt.

Sen.Prince Bassey Edet Otu has empowered the Physically Challenged in his District.

Sen.Prince Bassey Edet Otu popularly called the Sweet Prince has made this empowerment on Sunday as part of his campaign activities in the senatorial district.

This show of love is in solidarity with the Wednesday 30th January presidential campaign rally of the APC candidate, Mr Muhammadu Buhari billed for Calabar, Cross River State capital city.

During the empowerment, Prince Otu gave hair-dressing equipments, power generating sets, hair dryers, to the physically challenged ladies and for the men, he gave barbing machines, shoe-making equipments, etc.

It will be recalled that Otu formally commenced his campaign activities from Odukpani LGA on Thursday 24th January.

A 37-year-old woman has been left blind in one eye after she was stabbed in the face with a shard of glass with doctors removing a plaited hair extension stuck in her eye socket after a fight with her sister.

According to Daily Mail, the lady whose identity wasn’t revealed was rushed to Delta State University Teaching Hospital where she was given local anaesthetic before surgeons pulled out the shard which had left her unable to see, then stitched up the cuts on her eyelids.

A model identified as Are Rojas decided to strip naked in protest at the ‘normalization’ of violence against women as she waited for gas at a service station outside Mexico City.  The bizarre demonstration, however, did not quite achieve the reaction she was hoping for.

‘I received comments where women wanted me to be killed’, Rojas said.

The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN, CON has condemned the needless orgy of political violence that occurred in Etomi community in Etung Local Government on Friday 18th January, 2019.

Ndoma-Egba also call on all security and law enforcement agencies to take responsibilities to address such matters before they occur. He also urged political/party supporters to desist from any political violence before and after the 2019 general elections.

According to a statement signed by Sunny Udeh, Director of Media & Communication, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba Campaign Organization, the former Senator said, “The unfortunate situation which is said to involve supporters of the APC and the PDP is alleged to have been triggered by the destruction of billboards and posters of candidates of both political parties. Recall that Senator Ndoma-Egba had earlier condemned the so-called billboards war that started in Calabar in late December 2019 and spilled over to Ikom a few weeks back.

Vi c e – P resident Yemi Osinbajo yesterday held a close-door meeting with the first Executive Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, to seek his blessing for 2019 general elections. Osinbajo, the vice presidential of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was in Lagos for the continuation of his door-todoor campaign to Mushin and Surulere local governments, visited Jakande, a former Minister of Works and Housing, in his Ilupeju residence in Lagos.

Lagos APC governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and close members of Jakande’s family attended the closedoor meeting between Osinbajo and Jakande, which lasted for about 30 minutes. Speaking to New Telegraph newspaper on the close-door meeting, Jakande’s son, Seyi said the Vice President Osinbajo visited the former governor to seek his blessing and to inform him about the performance of APC administration.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday in Benin held a closed door meeting with Christian leaders upon his arrival to inaugurate the Trader Moni scheme and other engagements in the state.

Osinbajo arrived venue of the meeting in company of Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo, the Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu and Secretary to Edo State Government, Mr Osarodion Ogie among others.

Also present at the meeting were the State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Oyonude Kure, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Felix Omobude, Arch Bishop of Benin, Rev. Fr. Richard Ofere and representatives of the Catholic Church.

Others are, the presiding Bishop of Church of God Mission, Bishop Margret Idahosa, Margaret Agbonifo of the Family Intercessory Ministries among others.

Osinbajo did not brief Journalists about the outcome of the meeting.

Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said his decision to travel to the United States was taken in the interest of Nigerians, especially youths who make up a large part of the population. In a statement titled “Why My Mission to the US Matters” personally signed by the former Vice President, he said the importance of his ongoing visit to the U.S, mainly to meet U.S administration officials and business leaders could not be overemphasised.

Atiku Abubakar said“I travelled to the USA because I had a mission and my mission is to create the right economic atmosphere for American investments to return to Nigeria at a rate and quantum that we had before the current Nigerian administration’s policies almost halted the flow of Foreign Direct Investments to Nigeria.

I am in America because Atiku means jobs. “My reason for running for the office of President of Nigeria and even for going into public service in the first place, is because I believe that Nigeria has what it takes to be the beacon of hope for the Black Race and a leading nation of reckoning in the international community,” he wrote. While quoting Chinua Achebe’s “the trouble with Nigeria is the failure of leadership,” Atiku said hope of a change regarding this “has not materialised over the course of the last four years.” He added: “The current Nigerian administration has allowed our relationship with our long-standing friends and partners to deteriorate and this has had unfortunate consequences for our economy.”

The spokesperson of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Festus Keyamo, has indicated that the APC presidential candidate, President Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, will be participating in a live televised 2-hour presidential townhall programme on Wednesday, January 16th.

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and the Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, who are also the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Presidential elections will, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 8:00pm (Nigerian time) participate in a live televised two-hour presidential town-hall programme. The venue shall be the Ladi Kwali Conference Center, Ballroom of Sheraton Hotel Abuja. Attendance is strictly by invitation. All guests are expected to be seated by 7:00pm.

The presidential series, which is titled “The Candidates”, is designed by the organisers to have both the Presidential and their Vice-Presidential Candidates of selected political parties on stage at the same time and at different dates to take questions from the moderator, Kadaria Ahmed and from the general public through various platforms.

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has said paying the new minimum wage in the state is not a problem.

Speaking yesterday in Uyo during consultation with the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, United Labour and other affiliated unions said the state government is only waiting on the Federal government to decide on the new minimum wage so that it can implement in the state.

He said labour is the bedrock of development in any nation and commended the unions for their support so far, adding that he has fulfilled his promises to the unions.

He stated that even when allocations from the Federal government was still pending, he sourced for money to make sure salaries were paid.

Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, the Chairman, Zaria Local Government Council, Kaduna State, on Sunday says the council has began the door-to-door campaign for re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Nasiru el-Rufa’i of the state.

He disclosed this during the presentation of projects certificates to different contractors at various units in Dutsen-Abba ward of Zaria Local Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the chairman had presented the contractors to community leaders of each unit to enable the community to monitor and follow-up for proper execution of the projects.

NAN also reports that the exercise signaled the take-off of the projects by the contractors.

Ibrahim said the door-to-door campaign exercise initiated by the council was meant to attract bulk votes for the incumbent president, the governor as well as APC candidates in other elective positions.
