I'm starting to have a rethink as regards this Covid19 cases in Nigeria. It is either the government is over- reporting or under-reporting this cases. I'm not convinced they are sincere with the figures, I might be wrong though.

But this is my take:

The Corona Virus in Nigeria is not as Lethal as we were made to believe. The late Abba Kyari came back to Nigeria March 14 and was diagnosed of the disease March 24, he attended several conferences, APC meetings and also led a delegation to the Kogi state Governor to greet him for the demise of his Mother amongst other things he did Within the 10 days.

Now, no single person was infected by the Late COS from the records, and the only record we have of someone infecting another person is Atiku son that infected the Bauchi Governor.

Hence, I believe all this hullabaloo about the spread of the disease here is weak. We've been on lockdown for about 25 days and we have barely tested 10,000 persons. It's obvious the government is not ready to do mass testing and the cases reported kept rising, so of what use is the Lockdown? What's the objectives of the Total Lockdown?

The government just need to devise any other mechanism for curbing this disease; a total lockdown cannot be sustained.

We were told the virus symptoms and it's complications will start showing after 14 days, since we've been at home how many people has fallen ill suddenly or died unexpectedly in each of our areas across the country. All of us sha can never be asymptomatic.

If they want to share the money, they should go and share it, they should leave us to go and continue our hustle. We are not able to sleep at night, vigilante up and down.

My Verdict: The lockdown should be partial, people can move around with facemask and any other thing to protect themselves. Schools, mosques, churches can still hold on. People are broke and hunger is real

Virus has incubation period you can't start infecting people a day after you got infected. Covid19 is easily spread in crowded area like bus stop, mosque,church bus etc Abba kyari might not have infected a lot of people because he doesn't use public bus, buildings etc.

Nigeria is not good with data, so you might not know what is going on outside your immediate surroundings.

Covid19 is deadly but mild if your health system is yet to be overwhelmed.

I agree with you that lock down should be relaxed a bit but schools, churches, mosques and public gatherings should not be allowed to take place.


Finally, the reason why you think covid19 is nothing to worry about in Nigeria is because someone is working day and night to stop the spread. Imagine if the 800 people are not in isolation center but on street filled with people. My brother, it will take just 3 weeks for the a quarter of Lagos population to get infected. And you know the consequences of such number when they are down with sickness.

First they said coronavirus never existed

- Then they said it exists but can not be spread in Africa

- Then they said that coronavirus was not in Nigeria that the government is lying to get money

- Then they said coronavirus was in Nigeria but only foreigners have it.

- Then they said that Nigerians are dying of malaria and typhoid instead of coronavirus.

- Then they said Nigerians can get coronavirus but foreigners are the ones bringing it to Nigeria on purpose.

African government should do soul searching regarding how they run the affairs of their various states. The reason for their inability to solve some problems is because of widespread poverty caused by decades of misrule, corruption and senseless wars.

I don't know what they are talking about, but all I knew was that ncdc confirmed a case in Anambra.and the state ministry of health know the person.

Judging from most comments made by people from that side, even if they start dying in their thousands they will still call Coronavirus a scam.

Nigerians need compulsory education irrespective of any ones age. The level of ignorance is heart breaking.

1.Many of those people who think the virus is fake are also very angry with the government for corruption and nonperformance, so all this virus thing is just to them a means to loot more money by the corrupt elite.

2.Many people have never seen a person with covid 19, therefore covid 19 does not exist.

3.Holding a conspiracy theory makes one feel wise and powerful (I know, I used to read and believe every conspiracy theory about the death of the late US president Kennedy..until I received sense). Secondly, i personally know someone who is infected by the virus(a med doctor who returned from the Uk) the last time i checked by calling him, he is doing well and is only taking home remedies.
Thirdly you said "when there is no cure how come people are getting better in Nigeria"? Allow me to educate you that there are different factors ranging from environmental to cultural to diet to genetic, to our way of life that are taken into cognisance when the severity or mildness of a disease is evaluated.
Nigeria may not have a cure but i strongly believe that Nigeria is blessed with different antimicrobial natural plants that we consume without even knowing its potency. That is no. 1
