nateevs: Isn't Auba being quoted at £70m? In a straight choice between Auba and Bellotti, considering all factors, it's insane to spend that amount on a 29-year old, despite Auba being the more established. One long term injury and that's £70m gone. Unless I am wrong about the asking price.
Although I am not supporting spending £80m on a player who is not Ronaldo level, if we have to bend to the market trend, then it has to be Bellotti. If the unfortunate happens, I don't believe he can be as bad as not being able to recoup £35-£40m on him, because he is 23. How bad can he be?
Summary. I don't believe, considering all factors and variables, that Auba is better valued at £70m than Bellotti is at £80m.
Side note: When did we get comfortable quoting such figures regularly on transfer pages? God Punish United. I hope they get relegated. 70m should be buying solid experience, even in this bloated market. Belotti is too much of an unknown quantity to be purchased for anywhere near the figures quoted. I find it funny how you're talking about Belotti being 23 and being a better candidate. Lukaku is 24 and has significant local and European experience, as well as over 120 career goals to boast of...but you weren't considering his young age and capacity to improve when you kept announcing that no big club will buy him. If age is a factor, then we already have a 33m pound 23 year old striker on our books, who can possibly improve in the long run, while we get an experienced striker in right now. There's no logical justification for a belotti transfer...especially at that price I say no to Belotti |

nateevs: Capped internationals because there's been a dearth of quality strikers in Italian football. And that's the point, not the fact that they are capped. Would these players smell invites, let alone shirts, when Roberto Baggio wore the Azzurri colours?
That's the point. Yet these players are making it to Euro 2012 finals, and Euro 2016 quarters to lose unluckily on Penalties to Germany. Simone Zaza, Pelle, Darmian and Giacherinni played in those games. Yet flop hard in EPL. How manage? So It's not as if these players are not doing well in other scenarios. This tells me that there is a culture clash. These players look decent in slow paced leagues and international tournaments where there's an overwhelming focus on slow paced, defensive tactical football. When they come to the intensely physically demanding, high octane EPL, they flop hard. That's why almost any attacker you can think of can leave England and thrive in Italy, and not vice versa. That's why Dani Alves ran away to PSG. EPL boys don't fück about |

Was zaza a serie a star? Did he ever score upto 15 goals in a season over there? It took Suarez 2 good seasons to acclimatise to the gruelling physical demands of EPL. But Suarez wasn't signed for 100m by Liverpool... |

lordfalcao: Well to me, the fact that seria A players have been failures in EPL doesn't mean belotti can't be 1 out of the 100 black sheeps. But Torino are not serious with the price they are quoting when better players are going for less.
Left to me if Torino see 40m on that guy head wey dy together make them collect, because any EPL club wey wan sign belotti na shasha (try your luck) dy wan play. I can gamble on him for 30m. Let's say 35m max based on Batman precedent. But when I hear the prices they are calling for a player with only 1 good season behind him, 1 good season in Italy, and he is also one of those Pasta consumers himself....mehn I can't support that. 100m? Say who die na? |

nateevs: I am not rooting for a Bellotti signing (although I will be glad if we did sign him), I wouldn't despise him either on the basis that he is Italian. None of those aforementioned players at 23, did or could do what Bellotti is now doing. The more reason I believe he can make it in the PL. Check out Ciro Immobile |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Nihilist: 10:20pm On Jul 12, 2017 |
nateevs: I can state categorically that Fabio Borini didn't arrive on these shores with high expectations. Fabio Borini grew up in Chelsea Academy. There were no expectations. Graziano didn't have a bad first season. Balotelli had attitudinal problems. Osvaldo scored a total of 27 over 3 seasons for Roma. Not quite a player with high expectations.
Giacherini highest total for any Serie A team is 7 goals. High expectations? Ogbonna? Are we serious?
Bellotti's career at 23 is already bigger than the whole those players' careers combined if I leave out Balotelli.
I am not rooting for a Bellotti signing (although I will be glad if we did sign him), I wouldn't despise him either on the basis that he is Italian. None of those aforementioned players at 23, did or could do what Bellotti is now doing. The more reason I believe he can make it in the PL. When I said 'almost', Borini was the target. Ogbonna was in the Champions League final with Juve only a few months before he signed for WestHam. He had also played for Italy at Euro 2012. He definitely had a big reputation when he arrived. I don't want to hear any excuses for Balotelli abeg. It's not like he really shone for Man City other than the few good games. Same as all those other guys. We are talking about Capped Internationals here for Italy not Benin Republic... yet not one can be described as a success in any context while playing in England. Why? How come? |

raumdeuter: With all these argument people are making in favour of Belloti I really want Chelsea to buy him and lets see how it will end.
I dey take one eye look forwards from Italian league, DO you remember all the guys Man City wasted their money on when dem first hammer, Bojinov, Bianchi, Bernado Corradi. When I look at the curious case of Ciro Immobile one of the buys who got Klopp sacked
20+ goals in Torino 5 league goals foor DOrtmund 3 league goals for Sevilla 20+ goals back for Lazio Assuming Immobile didnt travel out too, thats how someone will be pricing him for 70M
That guy wey dey do Rabonna for Spurs, Lavezzi, Pastore Darmian all looked hot n Italy Italian NT sef, who are the genuine talents under 30 aside Verrati
Lucatoni dey win top scorer at about 40yrs old I even forgot that Darmian guy sef. Well technically he no flop because despite his average performance, he was bought for cheap so his game is commensurate with his price tag. Even that veratti gaan...lemme not talk too much, but I can accept him as the only non-flop of the entire crop. You are right about Luca Toni. They don't call Serie A the pensioners league for nothing. |

nateevs: That's why he said last 10 years. Nihilist knew what he was doing. 2003 was 14 years ago. Between 2003 and today, Italy have won the World Cup, and played in a EURO final and quarter final. Yet none of their players has come to England and not flopped. How come they are doing relatively well internationally, but can't replicate such success individually outside of Italy? |

nateevs: I think the more appropriate question is how many elite Italian strikers have witnessed in the last 10 years? You don't have to be elite to make an impact in EPL football. Graziano Pelle, balotelli, Dani Osvaldo, Fabio Borini, Angelo Ogbonna, emanuelle Giacherini and co have all been capped for Italy, and almost all of these players arrived on these shores with high expectations based on their exploits back home. All of them flopped. All. Jury is still out on Galbadini. |

CapitalCee: I am done with you At this point, you're just arguing semantics. You're not the first person to know about TPO mate. Sam Allardyce will tell you that TPO is alive and well. Jorge Mendez undoubtedly at least part-owns almost every player he represents, especially if they've played in Portugal. When Manyoo signed Falcao, I can bet my bullocks that Mendes was a direct beneficiary, but everybody says Falcao was signed on loan from Monaco. The key thing Dayo is telling you is that Manyoo weakened Tevez by forcefully taking him from another Premier league team - and that much is definitely true. Tevez did not wake up one day and decided to stroll up the M1 to Manchester. Manyoo were had backdoor conversations with him whilst under contract with West Ham and offered him tons of money. West Ham certainly did not want to sell, and not only did they challenge the situation in the courts, they also paid very heavily in terms of fines and restitution money to Sheffield United. You're busy arguing the legalese instead of failing to recognise the simple fact, regardless of the mechanics of the deal,Manyoo took Tevez from West Ham. Within the context of the original argument, which is Manyoo weakens Premier League rivals, saying Manyoo bought Tevez from West Ham is perfectly legitimate, as the original statement only seeks to establish that Manyoo acquired a player from another Premier league club in a manner that deliberately weakened the club, and isn't necessarily concerned with the technicalities of the deal. Insinuating that WestHam are rivals to Manyoo however.... |
