nateevs:The crazy thing here is that neither Messi nor Ororo were necessarily doing anything better than Hazard quality wise in 2014/2015 They only beat him on quantity...and it then boils down to his attitude. He can shoot and pass with the same level of accuracy as Messi and Ororo....but he refuses to do so because "he's not chasing records" He's almost like an Okocha type character. |
raumdeuter:You mean you can type all these epistles but cannot list BoasTANKs individual awards? |
raumdeuter:BoasTANK wasn't even thr man of the match in that game. Where are his recognitions for this amazing displays you keep mentioning? Where are his individual awards? |
raumdeuter:List his individual awards Any fool can luckily tag along and win a team trophy or two...afterall Pedro has more team trophies than both Ronaldo and Messi |
donjazet:I still don't buy into that line of thinking, but we shall see. Looking at the creative side of things, we can see that Hazard created more chances and made more key passes than both Ronaldo and Messi that year, but I believe that this tells 2 stories. 1. Messi and Ronaldo are relatively selfish. Obviously great goalscorers are naturally selfish, but the difference in key passes and number of shots between the Messi\Ororo and Hazard is quite stark. While the 1st group are willing to assume full goal scoring responsibility by passing less and shooting more, Hazard is virtually running away from goals by passing more and shooting less. 2. Hazard's supporting cast is either kak, or Ororo/Messi play with superstars, or EPL defences are tougher than laliga defences. I'm quite sure the answer is a combination of all 3. Diego Costa and Hazard were the only Chelsea players to score more than 10 goals that year whereas Madrid had 4 and Barca had 3. Neymar alone scored more than our top scorer and Benzema, Bale and Hames combined scored more than Costa+Hazard. This explains why both Messi and Ronaldo assisted more goals than Hazard despite creating fewer chances. Also only one EPL team that year conceded more than 60 goals, whilst a whopping 8 laliga teams conceded 60+ goals that season. This just goes to suggest that Hazard would thrive in a place where he has an amazing supporting cast and plays rubbish defenders every week aka PSG. He's literally outsourcing most his attacking flair to his teammates. He is good for us, but may only truly shine in the weaker leagues.

raumdeuter:Boastank one game, one brainfart... And it was ever thus.. |
donjazet:As you can see in this chart, Hazard in 14/15 was quite close to Ronaldo/Messi in both shot accuracy, and shot conversion rate...18% for Hazard, 21% for Ronaldo and 23% for Messi. Where the massive difference between CR7/Messi and Hazard lies is in the number of attempted shots. Both Messi and Ronaldo attempted more than double Hazard's shots that year...Ronaldo almost trebled Hazard's shots. I believe that this chart shows quite starkly Hazard's lack of ambition in comparison to the greats of our time. Despite an ability to hit the target with an accuracy that is on par with those legends, he was simply not chasing goals by taking more shots. If he had taken the same number of shots as Messi that year whilst maintaining that conversion rate, he would have scored 33+ goals that year alone.

raumdeuter:So it's another day, another mistake for Boastank? |
raumdeuter:Skillwise Hazard has it all it takes to be included in that bracket of players. Mentally though? Not so much. And tahh remove Walcott from that equation. |
raumdeuter:So...Boateng is at fault...no? |
donjazet:There's nothing in that article to suggest that we couldnt have pursued both. Indeed, Jose chased Kante and Pogba at United. |
bigkesh:Pause. You dey look Martial nyash? |
N'Golo Kante was too small to fit the profile of midfielder Jose Mourinho was interested in when Chelsea first looked at him. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/10/14/why-ngolo-kante-walks-tall-for-chelsea-as-he-gets-ready-to-face/ |

"Back to Hummels. I believe he is at least partly responsible for the second goal scored by the Eagles. A coverage problem once again. The man in the box should be picked up by Boateng".... Did Boateng pick up his man though? ![]() |

bigkesh:Me think otherwise ke? ![]() Abi you know see when I dey abuse Matic since last season? I just dey make a simple point. I know that when you abuse Matic, it's mainly because you want Chalobah...so if I was arguing with you, I already know where you're coming from and the conclusion you're heading too. Dazall. |

Greatihex if you don't understand the context in which people make statements, you go dey fight people everyday ![]() I think that most of the regulars on this board have a default position that other regulars know, and we can immediately frame any statement they make within the context of their default positions. If Ibime says hazard is visionless, you should know that he is wearing his Lampard glasses again...just like when Bigkesh starts abusing Matic, you should know that he just watched his 'Chelsea yoof skillaz' DVD again. Context is the key to everything... |
In my opinion, Hazard on his day is as good as Ronaldo or Messi. That's one the reasons why I don't agree that Conte's tactical change on Saturday is what brought oup the best of Hazard. People like Hazard, KDB, Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez can cause damage playing anywhere in the offensive half. The difference between Hazard and the rest of the established elite is his questionable mentality if you ask me. The guy seemingly lacks ambition in his game and his career. When we're leading 1-0, Hazard usually starts coasting and stops driving towards the box. He will start passing back and avoiding confrontations. When Jose said Hazard was one of the best players in the world, Hazard quickly went online to refute the the claims. I mean how can we expect a player to truly be great if this is how he thinks? "I ask myself what I can do to become like Messi and Ronaldo, and score 50 or 60 goals in a season, I try but I realise that I will never be a true scorer. It is not in me. It is mainly mental. Sometimes I still think after a goal, 'that's enough. I'm not in search of records like some other players. If I can score between 15 and 20 goals each season, I will be very happy. I'm at a peak of my career but I want to become even better every day. I'm not there yet."Hazard is definitely not visionless, the stats prove otherwise, but he may never become anything more than just anotger skillful winger who once played in England... |
FBS:Good evening uncle. Is there any defender that has never been destroyed with skill sir? |
MaziOmenuko:I'm currently above you where it counts. ![]() Aguero can't be doing too well for you then |
MaziOmenuko:As far as I'm concerned, 13m is too expensive..especially when KDB is the main man at city anyway. |
