You see, I have come to realise that no matter how one preaches discipline, there are forces at work that make you bend to the will of "persuasive requests". Remember, change is the only constant concept. Also remember, they have family, friends, neighbors and what have you. For me, it is okay to show favoritism; man does not dwell in isolation. However, where I have an issue is if the favor done is towards unqualified candidates; another discourse for another time.
IMHO, Prof is an organised and well deserved choice. He may not also have a say with regard to the ongoing recruitment drive.

Firstly, if you read the author's post, I am sure you came across this "Still I managed to come up with a coherent answer, but I don’t recall what I actually said."
Secondly, I didn't know I was under any obligation to answer. I however reasoned quite clearly that, the answer to the question is such that, there are no right or wrong answers. Perhaps, the interview question was to find out how well the recipient of the interview could juxtapose emotions and sales.
Although, he saw the question from a religious angle, I viewed mine from an emotional (Humanity) angle.
So answering the question IMHO isn't really a biggie.

He had originally asked me, “What do you think the purpose of life is?” and that question definitely caught me off guard.

Eventually I didn’t get the job, which wasn’t a big deal. However I’ve always kept wondering whether the question was asked because of his religious beliefs, or that it was in fact an assessment relevant to sales positions.

Either way, the answer to such a question is always revealing.

To answer the question, one would have to be immersed in the abstract to understand the basis of life/humanity. Remember, we cannot remove strategies of sales from emotions. One has to be on a certain level emotionally, to make a decision or influence one.

I honestly didn't know or even noticed that child until 2 days ago when he insulted me and Cyberthief on this thread. Never noticed his moniker. I guess so. What someone told me was all allowances are attached to the monthly take home. Similar to how it's done for EFCC. I am not saying that they receive the same amount though. Having a ballpark figure would have been great though.

Hey, I know I wasn't tagged, but here is my opinion. Getting jobs isn't a piece a cake. There are too many factors to consider. Also, 6months is way to short to run out of patience. You thumbed "should I give up on him?" Let me ask, if you give up on him, do you have another plan up your sleeves to get that Federal Job? If yes, by all means; get at it while you wait for your state, FCC rep. If no, then be patient and try other means. It would turn out fine.
This is for others; we may be nursing that golden plan to get an additional degree when we start getting paid, I would advice us to shelve that plan. Go for that additional degree now and hope for the best. For when that "opportunity to get paid" comes knocking, we would be super prepared to embrace it. Education in Nigeria is super cheap if you know what I mean. It would not be easy, but many went through that, and didn't die.
